Running a file in SunOS 5.10
My school uses sunOS 5.10. I have access to the system through ssh, but I can't seem to get any of my programs to run. I have tried them on our linux servers and my linux computer at home, but I can't seem to get it to work on a solaris workstation I am not sure if I am using the wrong command or what.
I have created executable files, so to run them I usually just type "./xxxxxx" Can I not do that in solaris?
Also, when I ssh in, instead of the $ it normally shows at the beginning of the command line, it shows a %.
Can anyone help me?

Do you have 'execute' permission on the file?
What message is returned when you type the command?
Also, when I ssh in, instead of the $ it normally shows at the beginning of the command line, it shows a %. That depends on the shell you are using and the settings for that shell. It's usually very configurable.

Hello
I am trying to run multiple files with my java app on a Unix server. I compiled with javac, and run it thus:
java SNL *.mef
meaning I want to run all of the files with .mef suffix. Unfortunately it does nothing. If I just run one file at time this way:
java SNL bach.mef
it will work just fine. My main method looks like this:
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
if (args.length != 1) {
System.exit(-1);
} else {
File file = new File(args[0]);
SNL parseSNL = new SNL(file);
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if (args.length != 1) {
System.err.println( "Usage: java SNL x.mef y.mef ..." );
System.exit(-1);

File file = new File( args[i] );
System.out.println( "Parsing " + file.getAbsolutePath() + " ..." );

How to run class files in a jar independently.
Hello all
I have a java file which use an API.jar file which is an API file of some other application of mine.This file form a sought of client for that application.Now i want to run this file from command line which is giving NoClassDefFoundError exception.This exception is because of the dependency over API.jar.I dont want to pack this single file into a jar and then run that jar since it only makes a simple task complicated and makes a simple class look like a big application.Can anybody tell me the solution to it?
Regards,

I think the problem can also be the placement of the dependant jars.do i need to keep them in "bin" folder?I am assuming that in the error message, it says "-cp" not "ûcp" Can you confirm that you entered the command as posted? Because it looks like java.exe sees the -cp as the class to execute instead of the classpath option.
Try using -classpath instead of -cp. What version of java are you using? (java -version should give you the version).
If the jars are in the current directory, the placement of the jar files is correct. -
I get a ssl Provider error while running a file..
WHen I try to run a file <filename>.java (the file has no problem in compilation), I get an error that says - "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sun/net/ssl/internal/ssl/Provider".
What does this mean and how can I rectify it? I've already edited the java.security file and added the provider -
security.provider.1=com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider
but still the problem occurs.I can not even compile the file since there is no .Provider() method!
java.security.Security.setProperty("security.provider.1","com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider");
java.security.Security.addProvider(new com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider());None of these works! I can get the JSSE work while setting provider in java.security file as:
security.provider.3=com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider
but I can not set it dynamically! Any help? -

How to run .exe files with Virtual PC for Mac
Hey Guys, I'm new around here and with mac technology as well. Anyway, I have an iMac OS X 10.5.1 Leopard and I've recently purchased the Virtual PC for Mac 7.0.2 software. So I'd like to know how to use this program properly, because I need to run some executable files in my computer. It is confusing for me because I don't know how to get started, and I only get to the part when it says "OS not found, Install an OS on this hard drive".
Honestly I've no idea of what an OS is or where do I get that. So I'd really appreciate if one of you guys could tell me, step by step, what to do to use Virtual PC properly, and finally learn how to run .exe files on mac.
Thanks in advance!
Have a nice day!Always nice to see new faces
Honestly I've no idea of what an OS is or where do I get that.
This brings up the second part of your problem. The first part is setting up either a proper Virtual Machine program like Parallels or VMfusion, or setting up a Boot Camp partition on your drive.
http://www.parallels.com/
http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/
OS stands for Operating System. You are running Leopard 10.5.7 as an operating system on your Mac (MacOS X).
The second part of your problem - You will need a copy of Windows XP or Vista if you want to run Windows on your Mac.
There is at least one other solution for running Windows programs on a Mac. It's called "CrossOver" by a company named 'Codeweavers'. It's based on a project for "Wine" to be able to run PC programs on a Mac or Linux, without having to buy or install Windows. It works with a narrow subset of Windows programs so you would want to make sure the program you want to run is compatible with CrossOver before you buy it.
http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/
In addition to all the above information, you need to upgrade your Mac to the latest 10.5.7 from 10.5.1. "Software Update" is located under the black Apple icon in the Menu Bar at the top left corner of your monitor. After you are updated you will want to update your Profile here so that it shows the proper OS version.
With your level of experience with MacOS X and the Windows OS's you should probably get some help from a local Apple store. They have an appointment system and do offer many types of help and training, and they can offer assistance with choosing the proper programs for you to purchase for your machine.
You are also welcome to continue to ask questions here, of course. You will want to ask your questions with different issues that come up in different threads so that the answers stay focused on the title of the thread.

How to run .exe files on macbook pro
Just bought my first macbook pro the other day. I absolutely love it. Much better than the windows boxes. I wanted to run some '.exe' files on my new laptop but was not successful finding anything on the market to use without purchasing a full OS version of Windows. Is there any software out there that I can use to run '.exe' files without purchasing a full Windows OS to do so. I know about parallels for MAC but that seems to require purchasing Windows OS? Any help is greatly appreciately.
Here are the specs on my Macbook Pro.
2.2GHz quad core i7
4GB RAM
500GB HDDSome Windows software -- not all, by a long shot -- will run on a Mac without installing Windows, with the aid of the CrossOver Mac emulator:

Games generally won't. For those, you need Windows installed through Boot Camp so you can run Windows natively. -

I am sorry. I had the false impression that it was commonly known that .exe files did not run on Mac OSX natively and failed to see any constructive critique you were bringing. Maybe I am wrong. Again deepest apologies.
Unfortunately... these days... not every one is aware of this .exe fact..

Okay so I'm trying to download Adobe Flash Pro. I've gone to creative cloud and downloaded "Flash Professional CC and Mobile Device Packaging (2014)" and I have no idea what to do afterwards... There's no way to open or run the file. And to be honest, I'm not even sure if it's the right download... Help!
I'm using PC with Windows 8.1. I got onto the Creative Cloud and downloaded "Flash Professional CC and Mobile Device Packaging (2014)". <--- That would be the file. I can't open or run it from CC and I couldn't find a file in my computer either.
I've also found direct downloads for the trial version and hit the set-up button, it loads up, and then nothing happens. -
I've tried to download the flash player several different times and each time i get a connection error message.It downloads fine and when i run the file to start install, it installs up to 5% and then i get the connection error message. I've tried disabling my antivirus software, closing my browser for install and nothing.Can someone please help me? I'm using Firefox.
Hi!
I had the exact same issue, being on a mac. If you are on a mac and the connection error message occurs, then use this link http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg
It allows you to download it offline, which is what I used.
Hope I was help!

We have 2 load balanced application servers that map drives with programs on them for users from a central server that are giving the warning "We can't verify who created this file. Are you sure you want to run this file?". Basically how it works
is a user logs in to one or the other application servers (for example, 10.0.0.1 or 10.0.0.2) and runs a log on script that maps an L:\ drive to the users folder on the central storage server (10.0.0.100). When the user goes to launch the .exe from the L:\
drive it presents that warning.
I've looked around and have seen recommendations that you need to add the site to the local intranet zone for IE, but when I try to add L:\ it tells me that I have entered an invalid sequence. It appears that you can only put network shares in that location,
which is not how we're mapping the drive.
Has anyone run in to this before and knows how to resolve it?
Thanks!Hi,
A mapped drive letter is not supported so please try to input \\server or \\server\folder to see if it will help.

How do I save a running sequence file
Part of my testing requires a large number of variables to be passed to and from the UUT within TestStand. I can store some of these variables in the station globals, but I'd like the option to store others in the sequence files at run time and save them to disk (save the sequence file) at the end of the test. I can create variables in the station globals and commit the globals to disk just fine (LabVIEW vi's using the TestStand API). However, I cannot figure out how to do the same thing with a sequence file. My code is able to create and populate the locals variables with no problem, but I cannot save the running sequence file to disk with the new locals (or file globals) intact (they disappear when the sequence ends.) The reason I want to save the sequence file is to avoid manually entering all these variables into each sequence file locals list.
So, I think the questions are:
How do I make the new locals or file globals a part of the running sequence file?
How do I save the sequence file to disk before it stops running?
I can increment the change count on the file. I have figured out two or three ways to save the file while it's running without errors (although I doubt it's actually doing anything.) I'm using the TestStand API in LabVIEW vi's to pull this off and cannot find the functions I'm looking for.
Sorry if this is rambling, it's kind of hard to describe.Hi Lars,
The reason that we can't save the local variables created during
runtime is because TestStand creates a runtime copy of the variables
when the sequence starts. After the sequence is finished executing,
this copy is discarded. The reason behind this is that TestStand allows
for a single sequence to have multiple executions at the same time, and
each instance gets its own runtime copy of the local variables. If new
locals could be saved to the actual sequence file in memory, it could
cause major problems for other execution threads of that particular
.seq file.
You can use the API to add variables to the actual file using
GetSequenceFileEx and incrementing the Change Count, or create a
separate sequence that modifies another sequence file, but adding these
locals to the sequence file from itself isn't possible.
Hope this helps Lars,
Have a good one.

Bug in JDev 11g: clicking "Run" button won't run active file
Hi everybody.
If you start a new Application in Oracle JDeveloper 11g and start creating Java classes, at some point you're bound to create a main() function in one of them to ensure everything is working correctly, even if that class is not your application entry point.
The problem is that, once you run it the first time, JDev 11g will always attempt to run that original class instead of the file you're currently working on.
More info:
- This only happens with the "Run" and "Debug" toolbar buttons and menu items, the keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl-F11 and such) work as expected.
- The checkbox labeled "Attempt to Run Active File Before Default" in the Launch Settings is selected (The "Default Run Target" textbox is empty).
I downloaded the JDev 11g version that came WITHOUT a JDK and I'm running Java version 1.6.0_07 on Windows XP.
Thanks in advance for any help.More info on the subject:
Oracle JDev 11g seems to be unable to detect that there is an active file at all! This is evidenced by the fact that all of the External Tools are inactive at all times.
Is it JDev's fault, or is it the installed JDK's?
