Running a form built by 6i in 10g

Hi All,
I've built a form by Forms 6i which works and runs successfully. But when I run that form using Developer 10g, the Java Console gives me this error:
open HTTP connection failed
Why? and how to solve ti Plz?
another question: when should I restart the OC4J instance?

The version of the Forms is: 10.1.2.0.2.
The Exact error:
Loading http://serpc:8889/forms/java/frmall_jinit.jar from JAR cache

  • How to run a form built in 10g by a browser remotely?

    Hi All,
    I've built a form by developer 10g at the server, I want to run it by a browser remotely. How?
    I did it before but I've forgot it!
    I think using URL like this:
    http://<server_host_name>/forms/form_name.fmx

    Hi,
    try the following:
    http://<server_host_name>/forms/frmservlet?form=form_name.fmx
    if the form_name.fmx is at the dir the Forms looks for the generated files by default...
    Otherwise you can write:
    http://<server_host_name>/forms/frmservlet?form=c:\form_name.fmx
    Or create a named configuration in the file formsweb.cfg...
    greetings,
    Sim

  • Deploying a form built using forms 10g builder.

    Hi Everybody,
    I Have experience with forms 6i Devlopment, Recently started with forms 10g.
    while developing the form under forms 10g environment.
    We have to start OC4j Instance and if we choose the RUN option form will run automatically.
    But now, I have a confusion in deployment phase. so once the forms developement is completed, What are the configuration steps required, so that client can access the URL and access the forms built by us.
    Please can anyone provide information overthis.
    Thanks in advance....Pc Rao

    Hi,
    Once you complete the copilation phase.Then your fmx will be created in DevSuiteHome_1/form folder in your local PC.
    Then give access to your PC fmx to your client like one shown below,
    http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet?form=myform.fmx&separateframe=true
    if you want you can store all the fmx in the server then remove the local host from above url then give the server ipaddress....But make sure in both case OC4J must be started.This is just a basic configuration.
    Thanks,
    Pavan.

    Do you have a logon statement in the ON-LOGON trigger in your form? Do that, and it won't ask you to logon each time you run the form.
    Also make sure you connect to the database in Forms Builder by going to File -> Connect...

  • Running oracle form builder 10g in windows 7 64 bit

    i am working in windows 7 64 bit
    oracle db 11g enterprise edition 11.2.0.10 64 bit
    form builder 10.12.0.2  32 bit
    my default browser is Google Chrome
    i have java 6 standard edition  1.6.0_34

    what can i do to run those forms?

    Other comments:
    1.  I would not recommend using Forms 10.1.2.0 with Oracle DB 11.2.x.  Patching Oracle Forms to 10.1.2.3 would be recommended.  Using version Forms 11 would be better.
    2.  Attempting to use the Developer Tools on Windows 7 is not a great idea although it can be made to work.  Developer Suite 10 is no longer supported and was never really intended for use on Win7.  Again, patching to 10.1.2.3 is recommended and required if you plan to follow the Oracle instructions and certifications.
    3.  Installing the Forms Builder (Developer Suite) on Win7-64bit is not at all certified and was never supported.
    4.  Using Java 7 was not certified and therefore not supported for use with Forms 10.x
    In general, Forms 10.1.2.x has been desupported.  Customer using this version or older should be working on a migration plan for getting to the latest supported version which is 11.1.2.1.

  • Forms built in 6i is not showing up in Runtime in 10g

    Hi,
    In Forns 10g developer I compiled a form built with Forms 6i but when I try to execute it, the internet explorer launches and show blank i.e form is not appearing in 10g runtime. status bar says Applet Started.
    Thanks.

    I am also trying to convert a 6i program to 10G. I was having problems and so I decided to start over. I took an existing 10G form and tried to save it to a new name so that I could modify it and save it as a new form. The problem is that when I open the existing form I get a warning message "FRM-10102: Cannot attach PL/SQL library sb_error. This library attachment will be lost if the module is saved." So I cannot save it to a new form name without loosing the library attachment. Without this library attachment, my form does not load properly when executed. Any thoughts?

    This tells me you are using a 3rd party or locally developed Java Bean to perform some type of print function. Is this correct?
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.Does your printtext.jar Java Bean need to open an HTTP connection in order to print?
    Have you been able to print in the past using this Java Bean? Where did you get the Java Bean?

    Honestly, you need to list the following minimum information when you post a question; it gives us all or most of the information we need to help you and it eliminates the need for us to ask for this information. Please always include:
    * Forms Version (eg; 10.1.2.0.0 not 10g)
    * Java Version
    * Client OS version
    * What you were doing when the error occured.

    Check the Module property: Console Window.  If this property is null, then the Status Bar will not be displayed during runtime.  You have to set this property for each form.

    The "Splash.gif" is located in the frmall.jar file. What is it you want to do?  Do you want to use a different spash image during application startup?  If yes, you can display a different startup splash image by using the splachScreen= parameter in the formsweb.cfg file.  The replacement .gif file must be located in the directory specified in the imageBase= parameter.  Keep in mind that this file will need to be signed or you will get a security warning.

  • Can we run oracle Forms 5 Application with 10G in Client/Server?

    Hi All,
    Can we run oracle Forms 5 Application with 10G in Client/Server
    Mode?
    Regards
    Gaurav

    In theory you can run it 2 tier - which means that you have the client (the machine the user is sitting at) being the same machine in which the forms application server is running. So yes. But specifically, we don't support a client server runtime anymore. 6i was the last version.
    With 10g you will be running through a browser.

  • Running Oracle form 10g in web

    Dear all,
    What components do i need to run a form 10g on web?
    I have developed a form already and it runs on a browser of the machine i used to develop it. I want to run it from another machine via web, what should i do?
    Thanks and regards,
    Steve

    Hi!
    On your develop machine open the formsweb.cfg in %developer_home%\forms\server
    with the text editor of your choice.
    Scroll to the end of the file and create a new config entry:
    This is for use with Jinitiator without webutil:
    [your_config_name]
    form=your_form_name.fmx
    WorkingDirectory=x:\your_fmx_path
    lookAndFeel=oracle
    # leave userid empty to force manual login
    userid=user/password@database
    baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jarTo call your application from the other client machine use
    *{noformat}http://developer_machine:port/forms/frmservlet?config=your_config_name{noformat}*

  • Run a form 10g

    Hi!
    I'm trying to run a form from developer suite 10g, but it's my first time with this version and I don't know how I can run it using the browser.
    I have runned the instance corresponding, but when I run my form there is this error message:
    "Impossible know the IP address from host name for ...
    The dnsserver answers:
    Name Error: The domain name does not exist. "
    Inside the preferences/runtime of Forms Developer I have the default.
    What can I do?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

    A Forms is run either from a browser with the help of the Application Server or from the builder. The former is for deployment, the latter for testing and debugging.
    See the deployment guide for how to deploy forms and hit the Run button in the builder to run it from there.

  • Unable to run Oracle Form Builder from Designer 10g

    I am using Windows XP with Oracle Designer 9.0.4.5. From Design Editor, I select Run -> Oracle Forms, nothing happen. I am able to open Form Builder manually (C:\ORACLE\904\bin\ifbld90.exe). After I generated a module (form) from Designer, I have to open the FMB manually from Form Builder. In Designer 9i, I am able to open Form Builder from Designer. Is this a bug for Designer 10g?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Thanks for the response, Suresh,
    I believe this is an installation/configuration issue.
    I installed Oracle Developer Suite 9.0.4, which includes Form Builder, Report Builder, and Designer. System Path contains the ORACLE_HOME (c:\oracle\904\bin). I am able to start Form Builder from DOS command (ifbld90.exe). I am also able to start Report Builder (rwbuilder.exe) and Designer (des2k61.exe) from DOS. I am able to Run Oracle Report Builder from Designer, but just not Form Builder. I also checked the Windows registry settings and they seem alright to me.
    thanks,
    Jim

  • Unable to run the form from Form Builder 10g

    HI,
    I am having a problem with running a form with form builder 10g.
    I have create a form with some text boxes to display values in a table.
    When i compile and run the form it does not run The error shown is
    HTTP 403(Forbidden) You are not authorised to view this page.
    The Link used for the above is:
    http://127.0.0.1:1740/sWuCqhMKUT1btA1N5cXLCRshkJzmgKRIlCEUFd9RL520LVq0
    The port number 1740 changes everytime. I dont know why.
    I have started the OC4J instance before starting the Form Builder.
    I have made the changes to the runtime preferences in the form builder.
    http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet
    But it doesn't work when i try to run the form from Form Builder.
    ie Program-->Run Form
    The form works properly when using the 'Run a form on the Web Utility' provided with Developer Suite.
    Can anyone please suggest a solution. I have searched the forum but didnot find a solution.
    Thanks
    V.S.

    One of our DBAs has installed the software.
    It was a default installation, I believe, as no configuration was done during the installation except for increasing the virtual memory size.
    Post installation we changed the tnsnames.ora file and the sqlnet.ora file.
    Do i need to configure something ?
    Thanks,
    V.S.

  • Minimum hardware spec to run a forms 10g client

    Hi
    Has anyone please got any info this.
    I'm trying to define what the minimum specification pc in terms of cpu and memory (say running Windows XP) that will run a Forms 10g Form through IE.
    A client has many PC's of differinf ages and specifications, it's a matter of defining which one are too old and can't run the application.
    TIA
    Tony

    Tony,
    Check out the Hardware Requirements and the Certified Software section of the Oracle Developer Suite Installation Guide 10g Release 2. As long as the prospective PC the application will run on meets this minimum requirement to install the Developer Suite, it should run OK.
    Hope this helps.
