Running a java code

I am new to java.
I have a program to write java source codes. however i do not know how to run or test the code after i have created it.
also the programs i have been trying to use keep asking for JDK file, wot does that mean
Thanx

Check the java tutorial:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/
I don't know what editor you use, but if it is able to compile java code, it probably needs to know where it has been installed.

  • Error while running compiled java code

    Hi
    I have an evaluation license of the JDeveloper2.0 installed on my WindowsNT 4.0 workstation.
    I seem to have a problem running my compiled jave code. After compiling the source code(.java file) when I try to run the same I get a message saying
    "<FileName> not found in outpath classpath or sourcepath ".
    What does this mean and how can I rectify it?

    Your classpath tells Java run time where to look for the class files it needs. In JDeveloper the class path is set in your project properties. Select Project->Properties and check that the source and output paths correspond to your myprojects and myclasses directories.

    According to me the problem is that there are many instances trying to access the same property file. Nothing wrong with that since they only are reading it.
    The best way to do is that create a schedular in Windows that runs at some predefined interval (say 1 minute).Huh?
    >
    What will happen is if your program runs for more than a minute even then the new process will not start until old process is autaomatically killed. Please do not check this option if you want the program to exit normally.
    If the Task is still running stop at this time

  • How to determine if the server is in debug mode or Running in Java Code

    Hi ,
    I have a WebDynpro Applcation in which i have to display foll things in Table:
    Engine Name; Engine Version: Debug Mode; Reserved by;
    Now i could display list of servers but i have hardcoded the Debug Mode as "Disabled"
    My Question is:
    If i know the Server, can we find if the server is in debugmode in application code???
    I have OS access to my Engine. Pls let me in which property file can i find Debug Status??
    Also i am not sure if i have posted the Query in RIght Component. DO let e know if this Q is posted in wrong Forum
    Kindly help me solve this problem
    Thanks n Regards,
    Archana

    Hi Archana,
    If u can't start the server in debugging mode thru NWDS then u can try this
    Config Tool:
    U can enable the debuggine mode from the Config Tool as well. Just browse to following
    C:usrsap<SID>JC<SYS_NO>j2eeconfigtoolconfigtool.bat
    Click on the your instance. Then under the tab VM Environment, Set the DebugMode = true.
    Restart the engine now. This will open the J2EE server again in the Debug Mode.
    Please check the [Debugging Portal Applications or WebDynpro Applciation|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/907751e5-f717-2a10-f3b4-de4431d4722d?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] and search for SDN
    Just hope this helps you!

  • Java code running as background process in Linux causes high CPU util.

    I'm running a piece of java code as a background process in Redhat 7.1 . When I specify to run it as a background process (using the '&') at the command line, I get CPU utilization at around 5% and it dips.
    When I edit the script that runs the java code to specify running it as a background process withint the script itself (java ..... &) and then go to the command line and run the script, the CPU utilization shoots up to 95% and stays at the low 90's - very high 80's range for the CPU utilization..
    I'm hoping someone has any idea for this behavior and a way to fix it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sarat..

    This is an interesting post and i'm sory i don't have time to
    experament before i answer
    you could of course run the script as background
    *.sh &
    but that's probubly not what you want
    I think the solution lies in giving the
    proccess a job number %n
    then setting it %n &
    it might even work to
    put something like %java &
    Anyway when it's running fullout
    it is because it is in the
    current terminal process group PID.
    wish i could help more

  • JVM 1.4 seg faults with pure java code?

    Has anybody else seen JVM 1.4 seg fault when running pure java code? This seems like it shouldn't be possible, but I get the following at indeterminate times. Unfortunately, it is difficult to isolate since decreasing the size of the program avoids the problem. When the seg fault happens, the size in memory is ~1GB and there is plenty of real and virtual memory to spare.

    Hi sevenM,
    Did you figure out a workaround for this problem?. Did you get it solved with the SUN people?. Is it a known bug?.
    I've got exactly the same problem on the same function and VM library.
    Any info on this is very much welcome.
    Thx
    Krithiga
    I get the same error sometimes with tomcat-4.0.4 on a
    Slackware 8.0.0 and JDK 1.4.0. I don't user any JSPs,
    only servlets and the business calls a remote SLSB on
    a remote JBOSS server and afterwards select some data
    form a remote DB2 7.1 over JDBC.

  • How to compile connection pool sample java code

    I recently bought David Knox's "Effective Oracle Database 10g Security by Design", and have been working through his examples with client identifiers and how to leverage database security with anonymous connection pools.
    The database side of things I totally understand and have set up, but I now want to compile/run the java code examples, but don't know what is required to compile this.
    I'm running Oracle 10.2.0.4 (64-bit) Enterprise Edition on a Linux (RHEL 5) PC. Java version is 1.6.0_20. Relevant .bash_profile environment variables are as follows:
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:/lib:/usr/lib
    export CLASSPATH=$ORACLE_HOME/jre:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib:$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/jlib
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$ORACLE_HOME/OPatch:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin
    When I try to compile, I get:
    oracle:DB10204$ java FastConnect.java
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: FastConnect/java
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: FastConnect.java
    at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202)
    at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
    at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:307)
    at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:248)
    Could not find the main class: FastConnect.java. Program will exit.
    The java source code of one of the examples is below. Is someone able to point me in the right direction as to how I get this to compile? Do I just have a syntax and/or environment configuration modification to do, or is there more to it than that to get this example working? Any help much appreciated.
    oracle:DB10204$   cat FastConnect.java
    package OSBD;
    import java.sql.*;

          rset.close();
          // close the connection which resets the database session
          cm.closeConnection(conn);
          // time subsequent connection as different user
          connectionStart2 = System.currentTimeMillis();
          conn = cm.getConnection("KING");
          connectionStop2 = System.currentTimeMillis();
          // ensure database can distinguish this new user
          stmt = conn.createStatement();
          rset = stmt.executeQuery(query);

    I will try to explain what is happening here.
    You are launching java telling it to run a class named 'java' in a package named 'FastConnect'
    and java says it cannot find that class.
    What you intended to do:
    $ # make the directory structure match the package structure
    $ mkdir OSBD
    $ # move the source file in the directory structure so it matches the package structure
    $ mv FastConnect.java OSBD/
    $ # compile OSBD/FastConnect.java to OSBD/FastConnect.class
    $ javac OSBD/FastConnect.java
    $ # launch java using the OSBD/FastConnect class
    $ java -cp . OSBD.FastConnectNote that the package 'OSBD' does not follow the recommended naming conventions
    you might consider changing that to 'osbd'.

  • How to get repository connection in java code

    Hi!
    I have a method in server-side java code. This is get a repository connection from Weblogic pool.
    private DataSource getDataSource() throws WavesetException {
    DataStore ds = Server.getServer().getRepository().getPrimaryDataStore();
    DataSource dataSource = null;
    if (ds instanceof RelationalDataStore) {
    dataSource = ((RelationalDataStore)ds).getDataSource();
    return dataSource;
    I would like same this, but in the client side. After connection (SessionFactory.getSession...) I get a RemoteSession object.
    How can I get a database (repository) connection?
    Thanks,
    Attila

    com.waveset.util.Util.setWavesetHome("D:\\Tomcat 5.0\\webapps\\idm"); // if you are running this java code out side idm app
    Session session = SessionFactory.getSession("configurator", new EncryptedData("configurator"));
    LighthouseContext lh = session;
    WSUser user = (WSUser) lh.getObject(Type.USER, "Testuser");
    OR use below code

  • OpenScript/How to add .jar file to Java Code in relative path

    Hi all,
    I want to add a .jar file which can be executed separately (like "java -jar A.jar") to my recorded Java Code.I've read this wiki http://everest2.us.oracle.com/wiki/Generic_JAR_Project about how to add a .jar file to "Assets", however, I cannot figure out how to use the .jarr file in Java code,I mean , how to get this .jar file like the method the databank added in "Assets"?
    Things I did are as followed:
    1.Execute my .jar file in OpenScript Java code with absolute path like this:
    String cmd = "C:\Users\A.jar";
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd);
    This does work, but must set a absolute path in Java code like "C:\User\A.jar" ,which is not the workaround I want (I need my scripts can be run on other machines).
    2.Try to get its current path with following codes:
    File directory = new File(".");
    String currentPath=directory.getCanonicalPath();
    However,though this can get its absolute path (which is the the project path) in Eclipse like "C:\Users\Workspace\testProject", this only gets "C:\OracleATS\openScript" in OpenScript.
    I thought to copy my .jar file to the project path , got its current path in java code first,then can know the path of .jar file, but this workaround failed because of the above reason.
    I notice that in the "Assets" there are "Databanks","Object Libraries","JAR Files","Scripts". Since the databanks and scripts that added to "Databanks" and "Scripts" can be got or run in Java Code like:
    *getDatabank("DatabankName").getNextDatabankRecord(); String data = eval("{{db.DatabankName.data}}");*
    *or getScript("ScriptName").run();*
    *Is there a method to get and run the jar file added to "Assets\JAR Files" like the above?*
    Thank you very much!
    Regards,
    Angyoung

    Hi DM,
    Thanks for your reply!
    I've found a workaround,which is calling OpenScript's APIs ,such as this.getScriptPackage().getRepository() and this.getScriptPackage().getWorkspace(),etc to locate the .jar file.
    And this workaround can still work even though the script is run on other machine.
    Sorry to reply you so late!
    Regards,
    Angyoung

  • Running a java program in another java code

    Hello,
    I have a question.I wrote a java server code named server.java. In this server code, I receive another java class code called "HelloWorld.class" from another node. What I want to do is to execute the class HelloWorld inside server.java.
    Briefly, I would like to run a compiled java code (class code)in another executing class code. How can I achieve this?
    Thanks in advance
    ebnem Bora

    Hi,
    Sorry but your terminology isn't that clear. Are you trying:
    1. To call methods on another class or
    2. To launch a separate process that will run another class?
    If it's either of these then they're not 'Advanced Language Topics' but simple:
    // Scenario 1
    // in Server class
    HelloWorld hw = new HelloWorld();
    hw.sayHello(); // or whatever the method is
    // Scenario 2
    Runtime.exec(new String [] {"java", "HelloWorld"}); // or whateverIs that of any help?
    Dom.

  • Running Oracle startup or shutdown bat file from Java code

    I have two bat files for the startup and shutdown of Oracle instance which works fine from the command prompt. But my requirement is to run it through a Java program. Please reply with full Java code. Also mention how I would get the status of the bat files that it is successfully executed or not and if not what is the error.

    Your program is working fine, but there is another problem. What's happening now is I have to open the Login screen after the startup of oracle server is complete, but the next line of my program after Runtime.exec is the LoginScreen.show which immediately shows the login screen after executing Runtime.exec and when I am giving the login name and password and press enter, it shows Oracle not available exception, because the startup process is still in progress. I want to stop the execution of my next line of code until and unless my process of Oracle startup is complete.
