Running a swf from startup?

Hi
I'm wondering if this is possible.
I have a local swf file.
I'd like it to run automatically when the computer starts up.
I would also like it to run full screen in the second monitor (graphics card is set to split the screen).
Is it possible to do this?
Cheers
Shaun

Yes it is.
Follow these steps:
Right-click an Internet Explorer (or other browser) icon and drag it to your desktop and chose "Create Shortcuts Here"
Right-click the new icon and select Properties
Click the Shortcut tab if it's not already selected
In the target field after the ....iexplore.exe" add the path+filename of your swf file. Example: ...iexplorer.exe" c:\fireworks.swf
Click the General tab and type a name of the shortcut in the top field
Click OK
Drag the shortcut to Start - All Programs - Startup (depending on your Windows OS, this may be slightly different)
Depending on the security settings in your browser, it may come up with a warning that it has blocked scripts or activex. You can change that in your browser so that doesn't happen in the future.
As for the second monitor, I know there's a way for this, but can't remember how to do this, as I haven't had that setup for years.
Hope that helps!
Ole

  • Cfpresentation with a swf from captivate 3

    I have a swf file that I created with captivate 3 for some
    user training. I thought it would be a good idea to include it in
    the new cfpresentation tag. When I run it, the cfpresentation tag
    starts and then I see the captivate starting icon comes up and then
    it is a white screen. I can run the swf from the browser and the
    file runs find. I put a cfpresentationslide before this slide and
    that one comes up fine but then it goes to this next slide and I
    again only get a white screen. THe swf file runs about 30-45
    seconds. Am I doing something wrong? Here is the code. I just have
    the basic since I just want to see it run.

    I built a SWF in a program called Articulate and tried to
    include it in a cfpresentation and it had the same result.
    I also included a SWF built in Adobe Flash that included
    sound and the sound does not make it into the cfpresentation.
    I think the <cfpresentation> tag is a good start, but
    it certainly isn't the jaw-dropping, WOW, this changes everything
    tag that I initially thought it was.

  • Is it possible to run sub vi and main vi at same time from startup?

    Is it possible to run both my main vi and my two sub vi`s from startup, all of them continuously? I have to sub vi`s that are supposed to take in measurements from two different instruments continuously. I manage to make a program where I can open up and close the sub vi`s, but when my sub vi`s are closed, nothing is happening in them...and they start to run again when I open them...and I have to close them if my main VI is supposed to run. So the data in the chart is only from the periodes when the sub vi has been open.
    Thanks in advance for your help!

    I will send my labview programs. "Hovedprogram" is my main vi, "front" and "front 2" is my sub vi`s. I am also using global variables. I have already searched the discussion forum trying to find an answer to my problem, but I haven`t quite managed yet...
    My sub vi`s are not connected to any instrument now, but I have inserted a sinewave-generator and a chart in "front"(my sub vi) so I am able to see that the sub vi actually stop running when i close the window.

  • CS3 - run swf from browser

    I have a swf that uses actionscript 3.0 to drag and drop images, activate buttons that run movie clips and manage the display list. It runs flawlessly when I execute it directly (i.e. double-click the swf), but I want to publish it on the web -- so I used File -> Publish to create the necessary html file, but when I run it in a browser (I've only tried IE) the initial screen looks perfect, but none of the buttons and drag and drop features work. Also, when I run the swf using File -> Publish Preview, it fails exactly the same way if I choose HTML, but works perfectly if I choose Flash.
    I created a pared-down version of the fla (see the code below) to try to isolate the problem, and the behavior is exacly the same. I'm attaching the swf and html files for the pared-down version.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    This button is supposed to run a movie clip that displays a text box. One other bit of information that I've uncovered since my last post is that a co-worker can't get the swf to work under any circumstances. She tried double-clicking it directly (it's on a network folder that she has access to) and also running it using a flash player called Swiff Player. In both cases the button is displayed, but clicking it does nothing (except display the rollover states). The only difference I can think of is that I have Flash CS3 Professional installed on my computer and she doesn't. Might it be some sort of permissions problem or something I have set wrong in the Publish Settings?
    Thanks for your interest and help.

    Can any one help!!
    Thanks,
    Sid..

    Sid,
    1) Check your using the correct version of Jdev with your instance.
    Metalink note 416708.1 - How to find the correct version of JDeveloper to use with eBusiness Suite 11i or Release 12
    Will give the mappings.
    And check the Jdev setting
    330236.1 - Configuring JDeveloper For Use With Oracle Applications 11i and R12
    2) Instead of using the tutorial, create a sample page, Am and run the page.
    Check what error you are getting.
    Thanks.
    With Regards,
    Kali.

  • Running OAF page from JDeveloper

    Hi,
    For customizing an existing page , I have to load the current OAF page in JDeveloper. I have already transfered all the contents from JAVA_TOP and other files in necessary folders. When I run the page from JDeveloper, I am getting error page like "Page Cannot be displayed". What should i do , in order to run the page successfully from Jdev. I have to customize the page. Help me out, its urgent.
    Thanks
    Narain

    Sounds to me like OC4J settings and browser proxy settings.
    1. If you are using R12 JDeveloper, Tools -> Embedded OC4J server preferences
    2. on the left side click through Global -> Startup
    3. on the right side, select the radio button "Local host's full name"
    if you still have the problem, set your browser proxy settings to bypass localhost

  • Viewing swf from HTML- user can view only once

    Hi,
    I have my swf files which are getting called in browser when user opens its corresponding page.
    To ensure my swf is not used by user for his other purposes, i had to strict it to view from HTML page which has a variable. Same variable is passed from swf to this HTML.
    if both variables does match then only swf starts preloading. this works fine for first time.
    But when user open the same page second time, he is only able to view preloader which does not progress further.
    When i delete my temp file then user is again able to view the swf only once.
    Can anyone tell me;
    1. what is reason the swf from temp file cannot access variable of its HTML
    2. am I doing it wrongly?
    3. do i need to clear cache everytime or their is another method to do it?

  • SWF from Captivate in other video editors

    I have published some Captivate 2.0 movies to .swfs and they
    work fine and run in my browser just fine. However, another group
    needs them converted to a video format to put into another project.
    No problem, I say, since we have Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0
    which lists .swf as an import file format and .wmv and/or mpeg as
    an export file format.
    The problem is that when I bring the Captivate swfs into PE
    it sees them as 1 second/x# of frames. I can download a random swf
    from the Internet and PE reads it just fine, XXXseconds/XXX# of
    frames.
    I have tried tinkering with just about every setting in
    Captivate and still can't get it to work. I've also tried just a
    swf to .avi converted which worked fine, the .avi plays just fine,
    but when I bring that .avi into an editor like PE it's one second
    long again.
    Help!

    I can't believe I didn't notice before that Captivate can't
    output to a
    movie format.
    I'd download a trial version of Camtasia, open the SWF you
    created with
    Captivate, and use Camtasia to record it - then output to
    AVI.
    I think many conversion utilities expect Flash documents to
    be 'linear'.
    Captivate has movie clips in movie clips and is not a linear
    file...so
    these conversion utilities get confused.
    Essentially, I think you'll need to record the original SWFs
    playback
    with some other software then publish as a movie. There are
    lots of SWF
    to AVI conversion utilities out there but I dunno how well
    any will work
    with Captivate-generated SWFs.

  • Controlling multiple external swfs from main timeline

    Hi, I've been trying to combine the features of two tutorials I found, one that deals with controlling external swf's from the main timeline and the other that explains how to load and unload multiple external swf's.  I'd like to be able to load and unload multiple external swf's, and control these swf's buttons from the main timeline.
    I asked this same question on the forum of the site where I found these tutorials, and receive only one reply saying that "it should'nt be hard to do." but they did not elaborate any further.  This left me think that I was missing something very obvious and I've spent too much time now trying to work what it is now.  I understand pretty much how both pieces of code work, but just can't work out how to combine them.
    If someone could explain it to me, I'd much appreciate it.
    Tutorial One code - controlling an external swf from the main timeline.
    var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
    var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest("swfs/balls.swf");
    ldr.load(urlReq);
    function loadHandler (event:Event) {
    var myClip:MovieClip = event.target.content;
    addChild(myClip);
    function myClipOver(event:MouseEvent):void {
    myClip.myBlueBalls.stop();
    function myClipOut(event:MouseEvent):void {
    myClip.myBlueBalls.play();
    // set listeners
    myClip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, myClipOver);
    myClip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT, myClipOut);
    // listener
    ldr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadHandler);
    Tutorial Two code - loading and unloading multiple external swfs.
    var Xpos:Number = 110;
    var Ypos:Number = 180;
    var swf:MovieClip;
    var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    var defaultSWF:URLRequest = new URLRequest("swfs/eyesClosed.swf");
    loader.load(defaultSWF);
    loader.x = Xpos;
    loader.y = Ypos;
    addChild(loader);
    // Btns Universal function
    function btnClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
    removeChild(loader);
    var newSWFRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("swfs/" + event.target.name + ".swf");
    loader.load(newSWFRequest);
    loader.x = Xpos;
        loader.y = Ypos;
    addChild(loader);
    // Btn listeners
    eyesClosed.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnClick);
    stingray.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnClick);
    demon.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnClick);
    strongman.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnClick);

    I will not be able to help you with whatever relaxatraja provided though it is purported by relaxatraja to be clearly explaining what I was explaining (???).
    Your loadHandler function appears a bit confused.  For the code you show I don't see you assigning any event listeners for the events that will be dispatched in the loaded file.  As I showed earlier, your loadHandler function should be assigning a listener for the event that will be dispatched (modified slightly below). and if you have three different events being dispatched in the loaded file, then you'll do better to have three different listeners.  I show only one below for one of the events you dispatch...
    function loadHandler (event:Event) {
      // assign a listener for the loaded file's goExit function's event
       MovieClip(event.currentTarget.content).addEventListener("close", event1Handler);
    // I can't make sense of what you have here
        removeChild(myClip); // why ?? - it hasn't been added yet as far as I can see - error 2007?
        var newSWFRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("swfs/" + event.target.name + ".swf"); // the event.target is the Loader
        ldr.load(newSWFRequest); // this will load over the file you just finished loading??
        ldr.x = Xpos;
        ldr.y = Ypos;
        addChild(myClip);  // why?? it has nothing in it
    function event1Handler(e:Event):void {
        // do whatever is involved with what the "close" event is supposed to do
        trace("goExit function executed");
    As far as what you have in the loaded file, you appear to be trying to pass the files names as if they were parameters.  The file naming should be done at the receiving side for the event handler function for the event listener.  While you could create a custom event that include parameters that you can pass, that's another level of coding that is better left for a future experience.
    Study the following - understand it before you try to use it.
    Below is a link to some files I made for another posting that demonstrates what I have been explaining.  The neurope file is the main file.  Publish the netherlands file so that you have an swf to load for it, and then run the neurope file.  The file that gets loaded (netherlands) only has a button in it that when clicked dispatches an event for which the main file (neurope) has assigned a listener.  The main file displays a message when the button gets clicked in the loaded file.

  • How do i delete items from startup disk

    how do i delete items from startup disk

    You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
    With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
    If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
    Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
    Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
    If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
    If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
    If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
    Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
    Other things you can do to gain space.
    Once you have around 15 GBs regained, do a search, download and install OmniDisk Sweeper.
    This app will help you locate files that you can move/archive and/or delete from your system.
    STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
    Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
    Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
    Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
    Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
    When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
    Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
    move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
    If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.
    Good Luck!

  • HT201364 how do I remove items from startup disk to load OS X Mavericks?

    I'm trying to load OS X Mavericks and I'm getting a message to remove items from startup disk. Can anyone tell me how to do that??

    For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
    Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
    Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
    According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
    When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Reboot and it should go away.
    See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
    You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
    Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
    Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
    ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
    If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
    Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
    Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    sudo /Applications/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective
    Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
    I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
    When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.
