Running Customized Batch Jobs

We currently have batch jobs that are running hourly.  Theste jobs processes IDOCs that are in the queue.  Sometimes the job runs for more than an hour causing a concurrrent session to be running at the same time which cause issues.
I was wondering if there was a way to set up the job so it will postpone the job if there is a current job running already.
I know of other external applications like Autosys or Tidal that can do it but I was wondering if there is anything in SAP.
Thanks for the help in advance

The reason why we need to do this is because we don't want the job running at the same time trying to process the same IDOCs which may cause inconsistencies.  So we were wondering if there was an option some where that will:
-run a batch job hourly,
-if batch job is still running, hold the next batch job and run during the next available hour.
-and have this run periodically.
Another reason is we only have 8 background processes - "limited resources". if multiple instances of same job start every hour due to large number of IDOCs, other jobs will have to wait.
your replies are much appreciated.
Thanks

I use SAP-B12005SP53 and i develop with Business Partner Object

    HI ALL
TAKE CARE: Nothing was working in VB6, but in .NET it sets the default value !
    from help of VS.
When you assign Nothing to an object variable, it no longer refers to any object instance. If the variable had previously referred to an instance, setting it to Nothing does not terminate the instance itself. The instance is terminated, and the memory and system resources associated with it are released, only after the garbage collector (GC) detects that there are no active references remaining.
Garbage Collector distroyes the objects at the end of the sub of function, not in the loop.
So use local variables when you loading the 7000 items. For me working fine and i do not have a memory problems. I am loading 50000 items with prices from EDI file, and memory usage stops at 120MB.
1st solution  create a sub or a function to populate the data, and run this for every items by as single rutin,
      sub x
        Dim obj As New Object()
            Try
... put here your update code
            Catch ex As Exception
            Finally
                GC.Collect()
            End Try
      end sub
This free up the memory when Garbage
2nd solution: use inner loop definition
      sub x
    Try
                Do While True
                    Dim obj As New Object()
                Loop
            Catch ex As Exception
            Finally
                GC.Collect()
            End Try
      end sub
This free up the memory inside the loop.
I recommend to use Friend Class keyword for your addon declaration and do not use modules.
Modules and shared classes will be free up the memory when your program terminates execution.

Yes I did; or better say I let create it for me by dbca by default (in init file i choose remote_login_passwordfile=EXCLUSIVE)
I've just solve a problem :)... I set ORACLE_SID to new SID before run installer again. It worked!
    Thank you anyway!

  • HELP..how to run sql batch jobs?? please give examples

I have problems running scripts reference by unc path..anybody can help??
    UNDER PARAMETERS TAB:
    SQL Script @\\csdowcode001\dba$\SCRIPTS\PURGE_SCHEDULER_LOGS_X.sql (i put)
Enter SQL or a fully qualified script name on the remote hosts, for example, "@script".
    Parameters /nolog ( i put)
    Enter optional parameters to SQL*Plus.

by default the root directory for scripts is the $AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd directory. You can either put all of your scripts there, or create a directory there. Then when you call the script from OEM you can use the following
    @script.sql
if you create a directory in the $AGENT_ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd directory called scripts then you can put your scripts there and run the script like this
    @scripts/script.sql
    hope this helps,

  • Batch job run-

    Hi gurus,
How to schedule and run a batch job run using SM36 and SM37?
In MM area what are the transacions/programs are they used most?
    Regards,
    Deepak.

    hi,
You can create any of the new program as per your requirement, but only you have to provide the technical ABAP name of the program while making the settings at SM36...
Also please go through the SDN thread..Re: Scheduling Batch Job

  • How to disconnect DB connections before batch job runs

    Hi All,
I have a batch job which generates some static reports at specified location. My question is that before my batch job runs I want to disconnect all DB connections and then run the batch job then get the system up for availabily. Could you please suggest me how do I disconnect the connections before batch runs? I am using Oracle 9i DB. Your help would be more appreciated.

Oracle is intended as a multi-user multi-processing server. It is designed that way. It is developed that. It is sold and used that way.
Why would you want to kick off all other processes (sessions) just to run a single batch process? To make it faster?
If so, and the idea is to make the batch process faster, then
    a) WHAT makes the batch process slow?
    b) did you determine that this is caused by other processes?

Wouldn't VL34 require manual entry for the document numbers to process?
I know VL10G variant run via batch job works perfectly for outbound deliveries so I assume VL10G would be the transaction to create variant/batch job even for inbound deliveries.

  • Regarding Batch Jobs for migration of data from client DB to our local DB

    Hi Folks,
GoodDay, Previously I worked as a Oracle Developer and recently shifted into a BIG organisation as PL?SQL developer. Here my base work is with INTERFACES(Stored Procedure). That is retrieving data from client DB and need to put the data in our staging tables. For that i created 2 INTERFACES(stored procedures). One is for one time migration. No need to run on regular basis. The second one is to run regularly why because if any updations are done in client DB that should be replicate to our DB. For that we need to run a BATCH JOB regulary 24X7 basis.
But i dont have any working knowledge on BATCH JOB creation and running. Please let me guide on this issue ASAP.
    Regards,
    Ramesh.

    You can try
    dbms_job(9i)
    or
    dbms_scheduler(10g)
just out of curiosity.. tell me if you are interested...
what you were doing as a "oracle developer" ( is it like writing only "sql" )...

  • Routine not getting called during Batch job posting of Shipment costs

    Hi,
We have a routine created and attached to the condition type in the condition base type of shipment cost procedure. When the shipment cost is created by running a batch job (VI06) , the value  posted is the initial value determined withourt routine.
The  routine is getting activated only when we go in u201CCondition tabu201D in shipment cost.
Because of this,  correct values are getting calculated only when we click on u201Ccondition tabu201D,& getting wrong value in initial screen, which is not possible in batch job.
Need your views / suggestions to fix this issue. We need to use batch job and enable rouitne before batch job posts the cost to the Service PO.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Batch job with 2 conditions

    Hi,
We have a program that will create a batch job and then we need to go to SM35 to run that batch job manually. We want to avoid this manual step and what we want to do is to as soon as our program runs it will create a batch job and then batch job should kick off automatically.
One of the solution that came to my mind is to schedule a batch job with two conditions:
    1. in first condition it will run our main program
    2. and in 2nd step it will look out for the batch job that created in SM35 and will kick off that, but I am not sure how can i do this using Sm36.
I was also wondering if there is another way so that we can just avoid the batch run for the second step?
So can you please help me with this.
    Thanks,
    Rajeev

SM35 -> batch sessions, so I assume you are talking about these.
You can start sessions under program control by submitting program RSBDCSUB after creation of the session.

  • CC&B v2.3.1 - Updating SA status to Closed (out of box batch jobs)

I was reading the online help for CC&B v2.3.1 and I keep reading that the system changes a stopped or reactivated SA (service agreement) status is changed to Closed once its balance is 0.
I was wondering which out of the box batch job (batch control) would actually change the status to closed once the balance is 0? I can't seem to find this detail in any of the out of the box batch job descriptions.
    Thanks in advance :)

You don't need to run a batch job to update SA Status to Closed - the system will update the Status to Closed once the SA no longer has a financial balance. This means that, if you make a payment of the whole outstanding balance for the SA, the Status will be updated when the payment is frozen (whether online or in batch). It is also possible for such an update to occur during write-off processing, because WO can take an outstanding balance and remove it from the SA.
And just a note to say that SAACT selects only Pending Start and Pending Stop SAs, so will not process an SA that is already Stopped.

  • Automatically output report to excel from a batch job

We have business users who require that a standard report be run daily as a batch job and output to a printer, which is using a large pile of paper every day.  I have challenged the rationale for this without success, and am trying to find a way to continue to run the batch job but output the report to an excel file and e-mail it to a manager.  I know that this can be done by a good ABAP programmer, but I am trying to find a way to set up the batch job to do this without additional ABAP, as programming resources are very limited.  I would appreciate input from anybody who knows how to do this.

Likely because your user is continuing to call the service in a Windows (classic) DOMAIN\username format, and not in the Claims identity it should be.

  • Parallel process define for batch job

    Hi,
I would like to run a batch job with a few processes run parallel together. May I know where can i define it ? T-code ?
    Regards
    Lauran

    Hi Lauren,
First of all there is no transaction code as such.
First of all the report that  needs to be run in background should enable you to do parrallel processing. For that code has to be written accordingly.
    Check this link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/fa/096e92543b11d1898e0000e8322d00/content.htm
It gives details of function modules needed for this purpose.
After this you need to create a variant for the report and schedule it to run in background using either SE38 (dirrectly) or by creating a job explicitily- SM36.
A standard report that has parallel processing feature available is RBDAPP01.
Also check transactions like BD18. They also make use of parallel processing.
    Regards.
    Ruchit.
