Running exe/PC programs?

Is there a way to run an exe program without having to use Bootcamp or some other program like that? I have one program I want to run(it's a game) that's only about 22MB in size. I was just wondering if there's a way to run the file without having to partition my hard drive.

Other than that, due to the different architecture and file structures, a Mac can not run (Windows) .exe files: Mac is a Unix based system that e.g uses bitmaps in their file structure, Windows still uses some form of DOS requiring files to be "executable" (which is the command to initiate the action on a Windows machine). This "exe" does not compute in a Mac.

Everytime i try to open my Firefox i get a window that pops up asking me which browser i want to use to open it. After choosing Firefox it asks to run a C:/Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe.

Same error message, I disabled tab mix and made sure I only have the newest version of Java, restarted firefox, now it seems to be fine no error yet on Pogo games or pictures upload to ebay which were the biggest problems besides hanging. I had also had disabled AVG secure search yesterday but that did not solve the issue. Now I will try to add back in AVG search...I have very few adds ons, also the note embedded about re- installing a toolbar went away, my old one did not work with FF4, so I installed Yahoo toolbar but the message still did not go away until I applied this fix. Hopes this helps someone..

CPU usage is 98% when running my exe labview program

I have made an executable and installer for my labview program. When I install and run, the program uses a lot of cpu - almost 100%, even when the program is not computing. I recently changed over to LVIEW 8.2 from LVIEW 7.1. I had none of these issues with 7.1.
Programatically, I use a state machine to continuously execute the program. I also use a couple of while loops as slaves to plot the results processed in the main loop. In all while loops I have a 'Wait' until next ms' vi to prevent the program using all the cpu, but it doesnt seem to be helping in LVIEW 8.2. This is somewhat strange.
Can someone suggest what may be happening? and are there any methods that I can use to reduce cpu usage of my program?

It will be impossible to really troubleshoot this without a lot of additional infomation.
Is the CPU usage only high in the built application, or is it also high if you run the same program in the 8.2 development environment?
Was the 7.1 program exactly the same, or did you make any modifications since?
Are you running 8.20 or did you upgrade to 8.2.1?
What does the program actually do? Does it interact with DAQ hardware? File I/O?
What does the program do when it is "computing"? Is the CPU use even higher then?
Is there also a wait statement in the main while loop?
What is your OS (windows, linux, mac, etc.)
Is your computer reasonable for the task. Enough RAM, etc.
How do the various loops communicate with each other? (queues, local-, global-, shared- variables, etc.)
How much data is exchanged between the loops? At what rate?
Do you use fixed or variable size arrays?
Can you give us a more detailed overview of the code?
How is the memory usage?
have you done any profiling?

Getting Data From Running EXE

First off, I am an amateur programmer. I have been programming for a few years now, but because I'm a meteorology major, and not a CSCI major, I haven't had too much time. Tying in the fields of meteorology and computer science, I have made a few programs about the weather.
There is a radar program, GRLevelX, which displays radar information, much like on television. With hi-tech abilities with it. One of the capabilities is placefiles, which can be added to the program. So what I am trying to do is make a placefile which shows an aerial map from Google Maps, which can be placed under the radar. When I get down to it, I have the code to grab the map and put it int he placefile format, however, the only thing I cant get is the coordinates of the visible window of the program.
Is there any way I can tap into a running EXE, get variables being used by that program, and have them returned to the Java file I have created so far? I have spoke wiht one other person about this and he said I would need to call Win32 API and get the window handler. Again, I'm very new to this, so that si kind of confusing. But I try to challenge myself with these programs, trying to learn the language a bit more. I have searched through many forums trying to look how to do this, and I can't seem to find anything. Any ideas? Thank you very much! I appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Thanks for the quick replies. After some looking at the program and the first response, it looks like Java isn't the way to go. At least I have a good basis on how to do the main stuff, in java, just have to see if I can hand that off to someone familiar with the program to write in a different language. As for the second reply, I can see what you mean, not wanting to go into any secondary program. Especially if I don't know how its written and whatnot. There are a number of other placefiles, which do go into this program and grab data such as coordinates, and return their values. I will have to see what language they use (Visual Basic, i think?). as I said on top. Installed firefox 4 on 5/17. It was working okay until today. When I try to get online I click on my mozilla icon as always. A window pops up and says firefox.exe. what program would u like to use to open It shows me mozilla and I click on it. Then says do u want to run file and save.Browser opens tabs com up with search bar but the page is white blank. I have to go to the search bar and enter what wbsite i want to go to . Then I can pretty much go anywhere. What should I do? should I uninstall everything? can I still get back a older version like 3.6? How can I go about this.

Does if help if you check the security tab in the properties of the file and remove a possible internet protection?

How to run .exe files with Virtual PC for Mac

Hey Guys, I'm new around here and with mac technology as well. Anyway, I have an iMac OS X 10.5.1 Leopard and I've recently purchased the Virtual PC for Mac 7.0.2 software. So I'd like to know how to use this program properly, because I need to run some executable files in my computer. It is confusing for me because I don't know how to get started, and I only get to the part when it says "OS not found, Install an OS on this hard drive".
Honestly I've no idea of what an OS is or where do I get that. So I'd really appreciate if one of you guys could tell me, step by step, what to do to use Virtual PC properly, and finally learn how to run .exe files on mac.

This brings up the second part of your problem. The first part is setting up either a proper Virtual Machine program like Parallels or VMfusion, or setting up a Boot Camp partition on your drive.

OS stands for Operating System. You are running Leopard 10.5.7 as an operating system on your Mac (MacOS X).
The second part of your problem - You will need a copy of Windows XP or Vista if you want to run Windows on your Mac.
There is at least one other solution for running Windows programs on a Mac. It's called "CrossOver" by a company named 'Codeweavers'. It's based on a project for "Wine" to be able to run PC programs on a Mac or Linux, without having to buy or install Windows. It works with a narrow subset of Windows programs so you would want to make sure the program you want to run is compatible with CrossOver before you buy it.

In addition to all the above information, you need to upgrade your Mac to the latest 10.5.7 from 10.5.1. "Software Update" is located under the black Apple icon in the Menu Bar at the top left corner of your monitor. Right-click on the exe file and choose Properties.
Switch to the compatibility tab and uncheck the box next to "Run this program as an administrator". Click "ok".

Running exe contained in jar file

Hello,
I have written a java interface where an external executable is being called from one of the classes. I'm using Jgrasp as development environment.
Everything works fine if I run the java program from within Jgrasp: the interface opens up fine and it can run the external program when the button which is supposed to start it is clicked on.
I have then generated a JAR file containing all the classes etc and also the external executable.
When I execute the Jar file, the interface opens up ok and everything works fine within it, but it cannot run the external executable any more.
Is it possible to run an exe file contained in the jar file itself?
I would like to distribute a single jar file containing all the files needed by the application.

An EXE can only be executed from Java if it resides somewhere in the file system.
This is obviously the case before you JAR the whole thing, but not after.
Your code will need to extract the EXE by using Class.getResourceAsStream() and
copy it to a temporary location in the file system before executing it.

Where to put files in using runtime.exec(run.exe)?

I try to use the following program in EJB to call my EXE program in the J2EE server:
runtime.exec("c:\\j2ee\\public\\exe\\run.exe temp.txt");
In the execution of mill_turn.exe, it will open several files for read and write.
So where to put the file temp.txt and other files the run.exe need to read?
Looks like the J2EE server can not find them?

I got it in Java SE1.4.

Process proc = rt.exec(cmd,null,dir);Use above codes, I really got the right output from my external program for the first time. But , after that, the output keeps same when I change the filename in the following code:
cmd="c:\\..\\run.exe temp.prt"
to
cmd="c:\\..\\run.exe Abc1.prt" , which must have different output.
The codes for calling external program are implemented in the SessionBean of J2EE.

ACL Errors, Can't Running Any Windows Program (such : CMD, Notepad, TaskMgr, etc)

Today I got weird Problem, My Windows 7 Ultimate eventually can't execute any Windows Programs, such : Msiexec, Cmd, Notepad, Taskmgr, Msconfig, Regedit, etc.
When I tried to run any Windows Programs, the Message Box Appeared with this message : Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
Then I checked my System32 Directory, I was shocked because All of Windows Defaults Programs appeared with Locked Icon.
Then I checked 1 by 1 Windows Program, for an Example : dcdiag.exe. I checked the Security Tab and I got this notifications : No Permissions have been assigned for this object.
Warning : This a potential security risk because anyone who can access this object can take ownership on it. The object's owner should assign permissions as soon as possibe.
Other Informations :
1. My Windows account Privilege is Administrator.
2. I've Actived Anti-Virus and Always Updated.
3. In Safe Mode Everything Was Fine, I Can run Notepad, Task Manager, Command Prompt, etc (except : Msiexec / .msi Installer).
4. I tried System Restore in Safe Mode, but I don't have any Restore Points. In Normal Mode, I can't execute System Restore.
So, How can I solve this Problem?

According to your description, it seems like a program which start with Windows blocked the access of these app.
To open Msconfig, you can boot into Safe Mode firstly, then open Msconfig and following clean boot process to execute the operation.
