Running Form in Linux on Itanium2 64-bit

Hello there,
We are migrating our database and forms from Oracle 9i database and 9i Forms from Windows 2003 to Oracle 9i Database and Oracle 9i Forms on Linux AS on Itanium2 64-bit.
I want to know Is there any special arrangements to be made to migrate forms from 32-bit to 64-bit?? and from windows to linux. Please guide me what will be the proper procedure.....
Write me in detail please, or recommend me a white paper.
Regards,
Usman Latif

Thanks for the feedback.  I wonder if newer installers will have any degree of compatibility.
I saw on another page that people are at least getting some 488.2 functionality in XPMode:
http://forums.ni.com/t5/Instrument-Control-GPIB-Serial/NI-488-2-does-work-on-Windows-XP-Mode-within-...
In some cases, I don't necessarily need physical access to the hardware.  I just want to satisfy dependencies for linkage when running application builder, CVI, etc.  I know I can manually copy VI's, headers, etc. but that's a pain.

  • Export Libraries path to run forms in linux

    I'm using Oracle 9i A.S. in Linux (RedHat 8). Now I need to export Libraries path in diffrent folder. Would some body have any idea in linux how to export Libraries in diffrent folder to run forms. I tried export from .bash_profile but it doesn't work.

    Thanks Klaus.
    I have already define LD_LIBRARYPATH in .bash_profile:
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/jre/lib/i386/hotspot:$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/jre/lib/i386/native_threads
    Now I need to export FORMS90_PATH.
    I just export FORMS90_PATH in $ORACLE_HOME/forms90/server/default.env and in .bash_profile as follow ::
    FORMS90_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/forms90:$ORACLE_HOME/forms90/test/libraries:$ORACLE_HOME/forms90/test/forms:$ORACLE_HOME/forms90/test/icons
    Now it load LIBRATY but after login other submenu is not working.
    Anybody have Idea about this..

  • Running Forms Https (forms 10g with A/S and webcache)

    I'm trying to implement Credit Card processing for applications in our agency. The environment is in the subject. There will be two types of applications that need to process credit cards:
    1. Users coming in through our external website running java applications.
    2. Internal users running Oracle Forms (against another App Svr deployment)
    I'll be using a payment gateway accessible via a web service to authorize the card. I can talk to this via a java w/s client proxy w/o a problem. Here's the problem though:
    I've been told that when forms are running https, ALL forms running on the application server, regardless of application will now be running https. I'd like the Credit Card entry Oracle Form to be running https, but don't see how this affects all the other forms in our environment (hundreds of them). Can't one screen (http) call a CC screen (this one only running https), and they can enter the card into that? From the reading I've done this should be possible.
    I'm not the Application Server admin. This is what I've been told, and I cannot configure the environment. I've been told that Forms will now have to call a JSP CC entry screen that I write and that screen would now invoke the web service. Of course, my concern is that the oracle form and the jsp screen are now asynchronous, and one won't be able to tell when the other is done (unless I poll on the form, or go the route of PJCs and javascript - I've seen an article for this already --- HOWEVER, this was shot down as well.)
    My question boils down to:
    1. Can I run all my other forms http, and then this CC screen https (via a web.show_document), and then it can hit the web service directly via a java imported client proxy rather than me writing extra methods, and another screen/conf page that's specific to forms users?
    [I need to run forms https since the default 40-bit encryption is not enough.]

  • Install Oracle 11gR2 Express Edition on Ubuntu Linux 11.04 (64-bit) Howto

    h2. Install Oracle 11gR2 Express Edition on Ubuntu Linux 11.04 (64-bit) Howto
    Version: B
    Author: Dude, 24. May 2011
    The following are step by step instructions how to install Oracle 11gR2 Express Edition (Beta) under Linux Ubuntu 11.04, 64-bit.
    Access to the Internet is required.
    The instructions cover the following additional topics:
    - Converting Red Hat based Oracle XE installer to Ubuntu.
    - Work-around for missing /sbin/chkconfig tool.
    - Install Oracle XE into a different directory or disk volume.
    - Relocate and configure the Oracle user and default login directory.
    - Uninstall, reconfigure and perform first database backup.
    - Notes and web links.
    - Troubleshooting
    h3. A) System Setup and Prerequisites
    h4. A.1. System Access
    You will need terminal command line, root and system console access to perform the setup tasks.
    To open a Terminal at the system console:
    Menu Applications > Accessories > TerminalThe following commands will enable remote ssh login with root access:
    sudo apt-get install openssh-server
    sudo passwd root
    Verify:
    ssh root@xe_server_host_nameh4. A.2. Software Prerequisites
    The following is required in order to install Oracle 11gR2 XE:
    sudo apt-get install alien libaio1 unixodbcThe following is not required, but it will fix backspace and arrow keys in case you prefer using the vi-editor:
    sudo apt-get install vimh4. A.3. System Swap space
    Minimum swap space required is 2 GB. You can increase swap space if necessary using a swap file:
    To analyze current swap space and memory configuration:
    sudo cat /proc/meminfo
    To install a 1 GB swapfile named swapfile in /, for example:
    sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1024 count=1048576
    (this may take a while)
    sudo mkswap /swapfile
    sudo swapon /swapfile
    sudo cp /etc/fstab /etc/fstab.orig
    sudo echo '/swapfile swap swap defaults 0 0' >> /etc/fstab
    Verify:
    sudo swapon -a
    sudo swapon -sh4. A.4. Kernel Parameters
    Oracle 11g XE requires the following additional kernel parameters:
    sudo nano /etc/sysctl.d/60-oracle.conf
    (Enter the following)
    # Oracle 11g XE kernel parameters
    fs.file-max=6815744
    net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range=9000 65000
    kernel.sem=250 32000 100 128
    kernel.shmmax=536870912
    (Save the file)
    Note: kernel.shmmax = max possible value, e.g. size of physical RAM.
    Verify: sudo cat /etc/sysctl.d/60-oracle.conf
    Load new kernel parameters:
    sudo service procps start
    Verify:
    sudo sysctl -q fs.file-max
    -> fs.file-max = 6815744h4. A.5. Oracle Installation Directory
    The current Oracle Installation Guide uses the same directory like in previous versions: /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/server. However, the current Beta installation uses Oracle Flexible Architecture (OFA) and installs into /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe. Due to size limitations of Oracle XE it may not be necessary to store the installation to a specific directory or separate volume, but it is possible:
    Install Oracle XE to separate disk volume:
    From the system console menu: System > Administration > Disk Utility
    Select "ext3" filesystem for Oracle compatibility and specify a Volume label, e.g. Oracle.
    Notice the device name e.g. /dev/sdb
    Get the drive UUID:
    sudo blkid
    e.g. /dev/sdb: UUID="d19a2d8f-da43-4802-8bdb-0703c855e23a"
    Modify /etc/fstab to automatically mount the volume at system startup:
    sudo cp /etc/fstab /etc/fstab.original
    sudo nano /etc/fstab
    (Add the following, using determined UUID, for exmple)
    UUID=d19a2d8f-da43-4802-8bdb-0703c855e23a /u01 ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1
    (Save the file)
    Create the mount-point, mount the new volume and set ownership and privileges:
    sudo mkdir /u01
    sudo mount -a
    sudo chown root:root /u01
    sudo chmod 755 /u01
    Verify:
    df -h
    or restart the systemYou can also install Oracle XE into a specific directory:
    Create a symbolic link to store the installation into an existing directory, for instance:
    sudo mkdir /home/oracle-xe
    sudo ln -s /home/oracle-xe /u01h3. C) Oracle 11g XE Download and Installation
    h4. C.1. Download and convert the Installer from Red Hat to Ubuntu
    Please see section E.3. to download the Oracle 11gR2 XE installer.
    Select the version listed for Linux x64.
    sudo unzip linux.x64_11gR2_OracleXE.zip
    sudo alien --to-deb --scripts oracle-xe-11.2.0-0.5.x86_64.rpm
    (This may take a while)h4. C.2. Create a special chkconfig script
    The Red Hat based installer of Oracle XE 11gR2 beta relies on +/sbin/chkconfig+, which is not used in Ubuntu. The chkconfig package available for the current version of Ubuntu produces errors and my not be safe to use. Below is a simple trick to get around the problem and install Oracle XE successfully:
    Create /sbin/chconfig:
    sudo nano /sbin/chkconfig
    (Cut and paste the following)
    #!/bin/bash
    # Oracle 11gR2 XE installer chkconfig hack for Debian by Dude
    file=/etc/init.d/oracle-xe
    if [[ ! `tail -n1 $file | grep INIT` ]]; then
       echo >> $file
       echo '### BEGIN INIT INFO' >> $file
       echo '# Provides:             OracleXE' >> $file
       echo '# Required-Start:       $remote_fs $syslog' >> $file
       echo '# Required-Stop:        $remote_fs $syslog' >> $file
       echo '# Default-Start:        2 3 4 5' >> $file
       echo '# Default-Stop:         0 1 6' >> $file
       echo '# Short-Description:    Oracle 11g Express Edition' >> $file
       echo '### END INIT INFO' >> $file
    fi
    update-rc.d oracle-xe defaults 80 01
    (Save the file)
    Set appropriate execute privileges:
    chmod 755 /sbin/chkconfig
    Note: You should remove the /sbin/chkconfig file after successful installation of Oracle XE.
    h4. C.3. Install and configure Oracle XE
    sudo dpkg --install ./oracle-xe_11.2.0-1.5_amd64.deb
    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure
    (This will take a while)
    Remove the /sbin/chkconfig script, which is no longer needed.
    sudo rm /sbin/chkconfigh4. C.4. Relocate and Configure the Oracle user login
    The Oracle XE installer specifies /u01/app/oracle as the login directory for the Oracle user. Although not really necessary, the following will relocate the Oracle user $HOME to a standard location and create standard /etc/skel login files:
    Exit all Oracle user sessions:
    sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe stop
    sudo kill -9 `ps -ef | grep oracle | grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}'`
    sudo userdel oracle
    sudo useradd -s /bin/bash -G dba -g dba -m oracle
    sudo passwd oracle
    Verify:
    sudo id oracle
    -> uid=1001(oracle) gid=1001(dba) groups=1001(dba)h4. C.5. Setup Oracle environment variables
    In order to use sqlplus and other tools, the Oracle account requires certain environment variables. The following will set these variables automatically at every interactive Oracle login:
    sudo echo '. /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/bin/oracle_env.sh' >> /home/oracle/.bashrch4. C.6. Oracle sudo root access
    It is not essential to allow the Oracle user to use sudo, but it is convenient:
    usermod -G admin oracle
    Verify:
    id oracle
    -> uid=1001(oracle) gid=1001(dba) groups=1001(dba),120(admin)
    sudo su -
    -> Enter Oracle account passwordh4. C.7. Oracle 11g XE Post-installation
    After you install Oracle Database XE, its graphical user interface is only available from the local server, but not remotely.
    The following will correct the problem if necessary:
    Login as user Oracle or use:
    su - oracle
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    At the SQL prompt, enter the following command:
    EXEC DBMS_XDB.SETLISTENERLOCALACCESS(FALSE);
    exith3. D) Unintstall, Reconfigure and Troubleshooting
    h4. D.1. Uninstall Oracle 11g XE
    The following will completely uninstall and remove Oracle 11g XE:
    Login as user root:
    sudo su -
    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe stop
    dpkg --purge oracle-xe
    rm -r /u01/app
    rm /etc/default/oracle-xe
    update-rc.d -f oracle-xe removeh4. D.2. Reconfigure Oracle 11g XE
    Type the following in a terminal window:
    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe stop
    sudo rm /etc/default/oracle-xe
    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configureh4. D.3. Enable Archivelog mode and perform a database backup
    Login as user Oracle:
    su - oracle
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    At the SQL prompt, enter the following commands:
    shutdown immediate
    startup mount
    alter database archivelog;
    alter database open;
    exit
    Login to system console of the Oracle user account:
    Select Applications > Oracle Database 11g Express Edition > Backup Databaseh3. E) Notes
    h4. E.1. Oracle 11g XE limitiations overview

    Regards and best of luck!
    Edited by: Dude on May 25, Version B: various corrections. chkconfig package (A.2.) not required.

    even though I am admin user.Admin user is a MS Windows term, that does not apply to Linux or Unix in the same fashion.
    The configuration script tells you "You must be root user to run the configure script. Login as root user and
    then run the configure script."
    This is most likely correct because your account is not root and does not have UID 0. What you can do is to login as root e.g. sudo su -, as the message suggest, or use "sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure", provided your account is defined in the /etc/sudoers file to perform root/admin actions.
    Btw, do not modify /etc/passwd and /etc/group to give you admin privileges or try to create a another root account under a different name. That's not the way it works and usually leads to nasty problems.

    Form not created
    I think some standard library are missing in Linux environment. But I do not know the name of them and neither I can find. Please suggest the what need to be done to resolve the problem. The reason I am compiling the form in Linux is that I can run the form in windows because of corrupted installation of OC4j.
    Thanking you all much in advance.

    Deepank-
    When generating forms from Designer, Designer attaches libraries - like ofgmes.pll, ofgnavl.pll, etc. You will need to copy these libraries to the same directory where your forms reside on your Linux box. To find out what libraries ate attached to your form, open it on your windows PC after generating it from Designer and you will see the attached libraries. Also, watch out for the case-sensitivity of Linux. If you have the Designer libraries on your linux box and you still get errors, try changing the case of the names of the libraries.
    Hope this helps,

  • Not able to run forms 10 g on windows vista

    Hi Folks,
    I'm trying to run forms10g (10.1.2.0.2), connecting to Oracle DB 10g (10.2.1.0) under windows vista. When i'm trying to run a form, suddenly browser is stopped working. Can anybody help ?
    Thanks in advance
    regards
    Sri

    I don't know anything how e-business suite works. But I tested our forms/reports application and it does. I did use the default Jinitiator that comes with iAS 10.1.2.0.2. I also verified that the Jinitiator was displayed as a plugin when I type the "about:plugins" (Location). Did you verify that? There is a newer Jinitiator avaiable, have you tried that? To use that you need to modify the formsweb.cfg and recycle BI of iAS server (you probably know this already). Don't know what to tell you. I tested everything I have (forms/reports) on Vista Ultimate, iAS 10.1.2.0.2 running on a Linux server, and I used the Jinitiator that was downloaded from iAS server - and it works like a champ. Sorry.

  • Can't run form from Form Builder 10g - Port configuration problem?

    Hi,
    I have installed the Database (10.2.0.1.0) and the Developer Suite (10.1.2.0.2) on two Linux machines (Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4 Basic).
    If I enter the frmservlet-URL manually everything seems to be fine.
    In one case I enter http://127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet, in the other http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet; in BOTH cases I get eventually a dark square and the status bar says "Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main started".
    HOWEVER, if I create a simple form with Form Builder and click on the Button with the green traffic light ("Run Form"), the form runs only on the machine where frmservlet listens on port 8890.
    On the other machine (frmservlet configured to listen on port 8889) Firefox pops up, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:32979/6dOrpwghCqnp8PhMT7KVT533m3IaArqFbPqPBOztZXWYSsNy" gets called, and nothing else happens. The screen displays the string "ORACLE FORMS." and the status bar says "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...", and it stays like this forever.
    I assume this is a port configuration problem, but I don't have a clue where to start.
    Any suggestions how I should proceed are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi Frank,
    Thank you for your reply.
    I doublechecked my configuration.
    In the dialog Edit --> Preferences --> Runtime the Application Server URL is set to "127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet".
    However, when I attempt to run the form, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:33140/W2dwbV9eXS2fPkuKlxNhCxFWdEihwDviat2uV7ycrSotqwDN" gets called.
    The screen displays the string "ORACLE FORMS." and the status bar says "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...", and that's it.
    I wonder how the port number 33140 got selected. Interestingly, this time it is a different number; last time it was port 32979. In fact, the port number seems to change each time; I tried again and now it is 33189.
    I will now try to set the port number for the frmservlet to 8890.
    I choose Edit --> Preferences --> Runtime and set the application server URL to "127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet".
    I stop the container, open /home/oracle/OraHome_1/j2ee/DevSuite/config/default-web-site.xml and change the port number to 8890:
    <?xml version="1.0" standalone='yes'?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-site PUBLIC "Oracle Application Server 10g XML Web-site" "http://xmlns.oracle.com/ias/dtds/web-site.dtd">
    <!-- change the host name below to your own host name. Localhost will -->
    <!-- not work with clustering -->
    <!-- also add cluster-island attribute as below
    <web-site host="localhost" port="0" protocol="ajp13"
    display-name="Default Oracle Application Server 10g Java WebSite" cluster-island="1" >
    -->
    <web-site port="8890" protocol="http"
    display-name="Oracle Developer Suite 10g instance of Oracle Containers for J2EE Web Site">
    <!-- Uncomment the following line when using clustering -->
         <!-- <frontend host="your_host_name" port="80" /> -->
         <!-- The default web-app for this site, bound to the root -->
         <default-web-app application="default" name="defaultWebApp" root="/j2ee" />
    <!-- Do not delete this line. -->
    <web-app application="forms" name="formsweb" root="/forms" />
    <!-- -->
    <!-- <web-app application="forms" name="formsweb" root="/forms" /> -->
    <web-app application ="reports" name="web" root="/reports" />
    <web-app application = "reports" name="demo" root="/repdemo" />
         <!-- Access Log, where requests are logged to -->
         <access-log path="../log/default-web-access.log" />
    </web-site>
    I restart the container, start Form Builder, connect to the database, and open my test form.
    When attempting to run the form, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:33437/Pl0n3ky9vmU5z37A7ScBnQhsGwq3jwuzJpgTAKWPMOYIzT8K" gets called (again a new port number, apparently picked radomly within a certain range) and nothing happens: "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...".
    However, when I enter the URL http://127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet I do (eventually, after confirming that I trust the certificate etc.) get a darc rectangle and the status message "Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main started", which tells me that my setup can't be that far off target.

  • How to run Berkeley DB XML on AMD 64-bit Windows XP platform?

    Hi,
    I have used Berkeley DB XML on a 32-bit Windows XP platform but now
    I have to run Berkeley DB XML on a 64-bit AMD platform with Windows XP.
    After reading a few posts about that, I started to build Berkeley DB XML in 64-bit mode.
    I am doing the building with Visual Studio 2005 on my 32-bit Windows XP platform.
    But the build process does not finish successful.
    I got errors saying:
    fatal error C1083:
    Cannot open include file: 'jni.h': No such file or directory
    c:\berkeley_new\dbxml-2.4.16\dbxml\src\java\dbxml_java_wrap.cpp     149
    fatal error LNK1112:
    module machine type 'x64' conflicts with target machine type 'X86'
    c:\berkeley_new\dbxml-2.4.16\dbxml\build_windows\x64\Release_static\BaseInputStream.obj     1     Because of this only the DLL "libdb46.dll" has been created new.
    But there should be also some more DLLs. These DLLs are missing inside the dbxml/bin folder:
    libdb_java46.dll
    libdbxml24.dll
    libdbxml_java24.dllI go the old 32-bit compiled DLLs but when using them I got an exception saying:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\berkeley_db_dll\libdb_java46.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform1) What can I do?
    2) Is there a chance to get all the related DLLs compiled for 64-bit from someone/somewhere?
    Thanks.

    soner wrote:
    I think you mean db_java cause this is the project which is building the missing DLL libdb_java46.dll
    cause dbxml_java is building libdbxml_java24.dll. I thought the latter would have a dependency on the former and hence build both. So I recommended to build the latter lest your next question be how to do just that. But that backfired :-)
    Question of mine: Why doesn't dbxml_java depend on db_java?
    But anyway I have tried to build both projects seperatly and in both cases I am getting an error like:
    Error     4     fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file 'libdbxml24.lib' db_java
    Do the equivalent of the following on your system:
    dir C:\MILU\Quelltext\dbxml-2.4.16 /s /b /a-d | findstr /e .libThat searches the source tree for LIB files, so-called import libraries; I don't know more about it, but you can use Google to find out what they are.
    Did you build the DEBUG version or the straight one? Or a little bit of both?
    Can't remember if I had to configure the project any further than adding jni.h to the build path.
    Maybe try cleaning and rebuilding.
    Also, when receiving an error message, it is good standard practice to perform a simple web search of the relevant portions to find out about the issue - and be it only for practicing.

    2. 3. Oracle Forms client is supported only on full desktop / laptop installations. Oracle Forms client is not supported on non-desktop clients such as mobile devices.
    4. 64-bit browsers might not support all features. If you observe any feature failure, use 32-bit browsers.
    5. Oracle Forms is supported on both 32 bit browsers with 32 bit Oracle JRE & 64 bit browsers with 64 bit Oracle JRE combinations.
