  • Ichat showing all generic AIM running man buddy icon

    Hi,
    Not sure what happened today but now iChat is only showing the generic yellow AIM icon for all my AIM buddies. I deleted all the cache and pref files and nothing helped.
    I installed iChat streaming icon today but it was working fine. Now all of a sudden all my buddies are showing up as the yellow running man>?
    Help.
    TIA
    Dave

    Hi Jungle Juice,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions
    Make sure port 5190 is open to the UDP protocol.
    This includes the Mac Firewall if On
    The Modem and any router you have.
    If it is open in the Modem make sure that it points to the IP your computer has if you are using Port Forwarding with DHCP
    Go to Users/(your account)/Library/Caches and then com.apple.iChat.pictures This is a folder. Inside delete the .plist there.

  • Running my New App ... Clicking the Running Man

    After creating a test app I tried to "run it" by clicking on the litt man on my toolbar.
    I get a config window. When I specify a config in "Run-time Workbench" my "Run" button is never active and I get an error message at the top:
    "[Plug-ins and Fragments]: No plug-ins available."
    Any additional config I need to do?

    Hi,
    Why dont you use Run option of application?
    right click on your web dynpro application, there you'll get two option,
    deploy and run new archive,
    and Run.
    use these options to run your application.

  • Compiled program in C++ wouldn't run

    Dear gurus,
    I am using Sun Studio Express installed in Open Solaris for x86-chip as guest running from xVM with Windows Vista as host.
    As a newbie learning to compile in Open Solaris environment, I wrote a naive test script
    using gedit text editor as follows:
    #include <iostream>
    int main() {
    using namespace std;
    cout<<"Hello, world."
    return 0;
    and saved it as greeting.cc in the folder.
    Compilation is okay, but when tried to execute, it fail to run.
    Attached is a log of terminal output for your kind reference:
    lin@OpenSolaris:~$ CC randnorm.cc
    lin@OpenSolaris:~$ ls
    a.out Desktop     Documents Download Public randnorm.cc randnorm.cc~
    lin@OpenSolaris:/opt$ a
    bash: a: command not found
    lin@OpenSolaris:/opt$ a.exe
    bash: a.exe: command not found
    lin@OpenSolaris:/opt$ a.out
    bash: a.out: command not found
    I'd be very grateful if you could kindly advise me on this
    Many thanks for your precious time and advice.
    Best
    Lin

    I sounds like you might be new to Unix in general.
    In Unix, there is no default file extension for executable files, nor is any file extension needed. To run a command, you need to type the name of the file. For example, you could create three different executable programs called "a", "a.exe", and "a.out", and all could be in the same directory. You would run one of them by typing the full file name.
    In Unix, you have an "execution path", a list of directories that are automatically searched for commands. If you don't set the path in a login script, the path does not include ".", the current directory. So even though "a.out" was in the current directory ".", "." is not on your search path, so it was not found. You could run the program by typing "./a.out" (without the quotes).
    By default, Open Solaris gives you the "bash" shell as your login shell. (Other shells are available, such as sh and csh.) The command
    man bashwill give you a somewhat condensed set of instructions for using bash. More generally, "man command-name" will give you a more or less brief description of "command-name".
    If you have a printer installed, you can run
    man -t bashto print the bash manual.
    I think your next step is to get an introductory Unix and/or bash book, such as the O'Reilly books, or possibly Unix for Dummies. (I'm not calling you a dummy :-), and I strongly dislike the "for Dummies" in the titles of this book series, but many people like them.)
    Books about Linux will partially apply, but there are differences between Linux and Solaris that could prove confusing when you are starting out. I recommend not using a Linux reference for Solaris.

  • How to run the VC application which is deployed

    Hi  All,
    I am new to the VC. I created one model, and i have added some data service and view. and i compiled and deployed. I am not able to find , how to run that deployed application.
    Can any body tell me how to run the deployed VC application.
    Regards
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
    go after you have deployed to Deploy on the right side of the VC. There you have to see "see source code" and "Run name of your application". Put your mouse at run and the application will start.
    Another way ist to put the Button "Deploy Model " (it is the picture with the running man) in the 2second menu line. If you do this, the modell will start automatically, if it has no errors.
    Regards
    Thomas

  • Garbled text in man pages

    Here is a sample of what I get when I run man ls:
    ^[[1mNAME^[[0m
    ls - list directory contents
    ^[[1mSYNOPSIS^[[0m
    ^[[1mls ^[[22m[^[[4mOPTION^[[24m]... [^[[4mFILE^[[24m]...
    ^[[1mDESCRIPTION^[[0m
    List information about the FILEs (the current directory by default). Sort entries alphabetically if none of ^[[1m-cftuSUX ^[[22mnor ^[[1m--sort^[[22m.
    Also, man seems to depend on most as its pager, but the package itself does not. I had to install most manually. I don't think it's a problem with most, as using it to view files works fine. I only get this jibberish when I run man. I've tried "export LESS="-R" (the only tip I could find on these forums) with no success.
    Any thoughts?

    do an
    export
    and see what hops out. If you are using bash at least. Looks to me like there is something wrong with your TERM var, or you charset, or your lang.

  • Will iChat work on a Mini running 10.4

    Hello.  I want to be able to iChat with a friend who has a mini running 10.4. - 1.33 GHz PPC G4 with 512 with one firewire port empty.   My system is current.  She is short on cash.   I am willing to buy her more memory and I have a iSight for her that I no longer need.  But will increasing her memory be enough?  And, when I went to download AIM for her, it said 10.5 was required.  If true, can I still download AIM?  I am willing to upgrade her to 10.5 but don't want to potentially add more problems.  Only need for two people to video (and audio) chat - no other functionality needed.  Thanks.

    OK,
    You said she had an Apple ID based on her Verizon email.
    I had presumed that this meant her Apple ID was [email protected]
    If you meant she has actually been to the @mac.com registration page and linked her Verizon Email with @mac.com then I  see that as becoming [email protected]
    This is not a working email.
    It is a Valid Apple ID and also a Valid iChat name.
    If this is the case then she chooses @mac.com in the add Pane of the iChat Preferences > Accounts
    If her Apple ID is [email protected] then she will not be able to use this Email on the @Mac.com Registration page.
    In this case she would do better to use that email for password recovery in the AIM Registration page and then use AIM in iChat when Adding the screen name.
    Steps.
    With an Screen Name ready (registered at either @mac.com or AIM) open iChat.
    In the iChat Menu to to Preferences > Accounts.
    She should show either a yellow Running Man or a Blue Globe in addition to the Bonjour account
    Here is a pic on mine (I have several names)
    If she has a Blue Globe then the name in the box hidden by the green text will say Mac.com name where this pic say AIM and the entry there should end @Mac.com  (And not [email protected]@mac.com)
    If it is a Running Man it will read as it does under the green text and list the name she registered with AIM
    The Check box under the red Text that says "Use this Account" needs to be ticked to Log in
    It seems from what you are saying that at this point she gets the error message.
    Click the Add button at the bottom of the list on the left
    This will open a new pane
    This is an iChat 4 pic with MobileMe and Google Crossed out
    If she has registered [email protected] then she chooses @mac.com
    The Second field will change and have the @mac.com in grey and she types the leading part only
    Then she fills in the password.
    If she registered with AIM then she fill in whatever she registered there. If it includes an @ symbol and other characters folloing that she needs to type it in full. (i.e if it is [email protected] that is what she types)
    Again she fill in the password.
    Click DONE
    This will add the name to the list you were at and tick the box to say "Use this Account"
    The Buddy list should open and say "Connecting..."
    After a few seconds it should say Available and then you can add Buddies.
    NOTES.
    At the @mac.com Registration page you can use Passwords longer than 16 characters.
    The AIM Servers cannot cope with this.
    They can only handle up to and including 16 characters.
    If this is the issue then the password needs to be shortened.
    Use iForgot to change it.
    Once the name is Logged in and displays correctly, logging in and out can be done from the iChat Menu > Accounts or in the Preferences and deselecting the "Use this Account" check box.

  • Man-DB startjob not allowing me to login

    So I was rebooting my machine one day and during the bootup process at the bottom I get "a startjob process has started for Update man-db". I decided to let it start but when I do it just hangs there for hours. The machine will allow me to do a soft reboot but when it restarts the same thing happens. I have tried running man-db in chroot from another partition but no joy. Any ideas?

    Please paste the output of:
    systemctl status man-db.service
    Then maybe journalctl -xn | grep man-db
    I had a similar problem after a man-db upgrade. Reinstalling man-db fixed this for me.
    I can only chroot into the partition, so systemctl doesnt work.

  • Man pages and groff/troff error

    Opening a bash shell and running "man ls" (or any other man page) fails with a troff error:

  • Nike+ website "flattens" my runs

    I am so glad to have found this forum, as the lack of any clear way to find help for problems on the Nike+ site was starting to get me down.
    The first few times I uploaded workout data, the charts showing my runs (really walks) were great--full of bends and curves to track my changing pace.
    Since then, many of my old workouts have been "flattened" by the site--transformed into flat lines, with the same pace reported for each part of the workout (very often, for some reason, 16'40"--or 16.6666 minutes--per mile), even when that pace has no connection any pace I actually went at.
    For instance, for one workout of 1 mile, which I completed in around 18 minutes, the chart with the little running man shows me having gone at an unvarying pace of 16'40" per mile, which is very Alice-in-Wonderland if you think about it for a moment.
    The cumulative data--how far I went, how long it took--is still intact, but all the details of what I did while getting there seem to have been thrown out.
    Anyway, I don't like losing data, and the website is less fun when all my pace information is corrupted or ignored. It's still happening much (but not all) of the time, so it's not some transient problem with Nike's servers.
    (How I wish Apple had an option to simply report your data to your .Mac account, incidentally! All the time-consuming bells and whistles on the Nike site--and the absence of more flexible ways of viewing and presenting your data--get to be a drag after a while.)
    So, does anyone have any insights into what might be happening, or how to fix it?

    I have noticed the same thing too. My earlier runs used to show my change in pace, but lately they all have been very flat. Since there are several hills in my run route I know my pace definitely changes. I actually see this in the xml data so I am sure apple or nike is using some sort of algorithim to limit the change in pace. This is prabobly a result of the spike at the end of the run issue.
    About the xml, it quite easy to read if you organize it into a more reader friendly way. The part that give all the most information is between the "snapShotList" node. The kit only collects the data in kilometers and then it converts kilometers to miles. If you pick any of the 3k, 5k, or 10k workouts, the kit capures the duration (elaps time) for each kilometer. Below is part of the xml data from my 10k run this morning. As you can see by simply rearranging the carriage return, the data is easier to read.
    <snapShotList snapShotType="kmSplit">
    <snapShot><duration>315633</duration><distance>1.0</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>630158</duration><distance>2.002</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>940306</duration><distance>3.0</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>1256162</duration><distance>4.003</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>1573275</duration><distance>5.002</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>1892976</duration><distance>6.001</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>2222562</duration><distance>7.002</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>2551231</duration><distance>8.002</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>2881140</duration><distance>9.001</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>3211630</duration><distance>10.002</distance></snapShot>
    </snapShotList>
    It simply shows the duration in millisecs and the distance in kilometers. To convert the duration into min and sec, take the duration number and use this equation.
    3211630(1/60)(1/1000)=53.5272
    Take the decimal part and multiply by 60 to get the seconds in 1/60th and not 1/100th.
    0.5272*60=31.60
    So my total run of 10k was 53 min and 31 seconds.Which is confirmed by the lines from the top of the same xml file. Which shows it took me less than a 10th of a second to end the workout.
    <time>2006-09-02T07:48:50-04:00</time>
    <duration>3219946</duration>
    <durationString>53:39</durationString>
    To capure the data for each mile, it captures the duration at every 1.61km which is equal to 1 mile.
    <snapShotList snapShotType="mileSplit">
    <snapShot><duration>506538</duration><distance>1.61</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>1010884</duration><distance>3.224</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>1518186</duration><distance>4.829</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>2035667</duration><distance>6.437</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>2566503</duration><distance>8.048</distance></snapShot>
    <snapShot><duration>3097300</duration><distance>9.657</distance></snapShot>
    </snapShotList>
    If you compare the 2 section 9.657km = 6 mile, so the kit capured all 6 miles of my 10km run. Now each time you push the center button, it capures the same information.
    <snapShotList snapShotType="userClick">
    <snapShot event="onDemandVP"><duration>792182</duration><distance>2.521</distance></snapS hot>
    <snapShot event="onDemandVP"><duration>924998</duration><distance>2.948</distance></snapS hot>
    <snapShot event="onDemandVP"><duration>2281055</duration><distance>7.179</distance></snap Shot>
    <snapShot event="pause"><duration>3219946</duration><distance>10.027</distance></snapShot >
    <snapShot event="stop"><duration>3219946</duration><distance>10.027</distance></snapShot>
    </snapShotList>
    As you can see from this, it capured the 3 times push the button to get my status info and the time I pushed the pause button, and the menu button to end my workout.

When you subtract the second number from the third number you see the change in pace between the 10sec into my workout and 20 seconds into my workout. If my pace were steady, than the subtraction of each 10sec interval would be a constant number. The larger the number the more your pace varies.
    Since I have some time this weekend, I will try to write an application that will import the xml data automatically and display useful information on in MS excel. I posted the 2 vb scripts that actually plot and calculate your elaps time on another post, so if you are familiar with excel macros, just do a search for them, and it will plot your actual run for you without any modification.
    Hope this helps.

  • Jail in vsftpd 2.3.4-2 do not work properly... no idea why

    I have used the chroot_local_user=YES option in the vsftpd conf... (I have restarted it)
    But then I tried in filezilla accessing with a regular user, and its not jailed at all, I can see everything in the server... any idea?

    Yup, well, I did not read the man page yet... just read the arch wiki page...
    I thought that using just chroot_local_user=YES I will not need to use that file, as it uses the system users...
    Do not work that way?
    /me runs man vsftpd... then man vsftpd.conf

    Hi,
    Try these 3 solutions
    1. Did you start vncserver services as:
    service vncserver start
    2.Check that port 5901 has not been blocked by a firewall:
    # nc -vz localhost 5901
    You should get a connection and a termination. If you get an error, fix the firewall.
    3. service iptables stop
    Hope This Helps

  • Cannot see 'WAITING/RELEASED' in Transport View in NWDS

    Hello,
    We just installed NWDI (7.0 SP09) and followed the steps to configure it.
    I created a New DC, created a WebDynpro application within it and checked-in the activity.
    The Activation Request shows a green check mark, and a running-man symbol.
    Under the Transport View, I do not see the yellow and green flags for the Waiting and Released tasks.
    In CMS, we have configured a single machine for our development server (we have not included any consolidation or test or production machine in the landscape). We have disabled automatic deployment for the development machine.
    Can someone please point-out where we are making a mistake ?
    Thanks
    Jon.

    The running man symbol appears because you disabled automatic deployment. The green check mark indicates that activation was successful. The activity should nevertheless appear in the Transport view as a waiting activity, since activation was successful. In order to deploy the DC's touched in the activity you'll have to go to the TCS Deployer now: [http://<nwdiserver>:<port>/TCS/Deployer].

  • Help with programming a level in a platformer...

    So I have a running man game, where my character mc is constantly moving on a platform. Blast of ice are coming towards the character which halt him where he is in the progress of the level. I have a jump function which enables him to jump over these, and my goal is to enable him to jump over portions of the level where the platform dissappears as well. However I can't seem to program my character to fall below the surface to a previous point when he is not hitting the main platform array. My main character mc is 'wally2'. Here is my entire code, which I'll explain after:
    stop();
    wallyJump2.visible= false;
    backgroundCC2.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, stageLeft2);
    //these next few event listeners cause the elements on the stage to constantly move left towards the character's centralized location.
    function stageLeft2(event:Event)
              backgroundCC2.x -=  15;
    wintext2.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, winLeft2);
    function winLeft2(event:Event)
              wintext2.x -=  15;
    //these are the ice blasts my main mc must jump over in the form of an array
    var iceBlastArray = new Array(iceblast1,
    iceblast2,
    iceblast3,
    iceblast4,
    iceblast5,
    iceblast6,
    iceblast7,
    iceblast8,
    iceblast9,
    iceblast10,
    iceblast11,
    iceblast12,
    iceblast13,
    iceblast14,
    iceblast15);
    //this is the array that makes up the main platform, its several pieces of platform that is constantly moving under the main character mc
    var iceiceArray = new Array(ice1,
    ice2,
    ice3,
    ice4,
    ice5,
    ice6,

    ice41,
    ice42);
    //these next 2 functions moves the previous two elements constantly to the left
    ice1.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, villainsLeft2);
    function villainsLeft2(event:Event)
              for (var i:Number=0; i<iceiceArray.length; i++)
                        iceiceArray[i].x -=  15;
    iceblast1.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, blastLeft2);
    function blastLeft2(event:Event)
              for (var i:Number=0; i<iceBlastArray.length; i++)
                        iceBlastArray[i].x -=  30;
    //jump function
    var grav:Number = 10;
    var jumping:Boolean = false;
    var jumpPow:Number = 0;
    stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, onKeyDown);
    stage.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, update);
    function onKeyDown(evt:KeyboardEvent):void
        if(evt.keyCode == Keyboard.UP)
            if(jumping != true)
                jumpPow = -50;
                jumping = true;
    wally2.startY = wally2.y;
    function update(evt:Event):void
        if(jumping)
            wally2.y += jumpPow;
                        wallyJump2.y +=jumpPow;
            jumpPow += grav;
                        wally2.visible = false;
                        wallyJump2.visible= true;
            if(wally2.y >= wally2.startY)
                jumping = false;
                wally2.y = wally2.startY;
                                  wally2.visible = true;
                                  wallyJump2.visible= false;
    //falling function
    wally2.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, letsSee);
    function letsSee(event:Event)
              // create a for loop to test each array item hitting wally...
              for (var i:Number=0; i<iceiceArray.length; i++)
                   // if you don't hit platform...
              if (wally2.hitTestObject(iceiceArray[i])) {
              wally2.y += 5;}
                          return;
    //collision test for ice beam, cause all elements moving left to stop if my main character mc hits an item in the iceBlastArray
    wally2.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, collision2);
    function collision2(event:Event)
              // create a for loop to test each array item hitting wally...
              for (var i:Number=0; i<iceBlastArray.length; i++)
                        // if you get a hit...
                        if (wally2.hitTestObject(iceBlastArray[i]))
                                  backgroundCC2.x +=  30;
                                  wintext2.x +=  30;
                                  for (var i:Number=0; i<iceiceArray.length; i++)
                                            iceiceArray[i].x += 30;
                                  for (var i:Number=0; i<iceBlastArray.length; i++)
                                            iceBlastArray[i].x +=  60;
                                  return;
    END CODE
    So my goal is whenever wally2, my main mc, is NOT hitting a platform object in the iceiceArray to cause a collision that acts similar to the collision2 function above, except AFTER wally2 has fallen beneath the surface. This would be my severely in need of repair 'fall function' above, that I'm having many torubles with. If there's an easier way to do this, please let me know. As I can't seem to get past this one last hiccup in creating my game. Thanks in advance.

    Okay...you lost me...I thought that's what I was doing?
    If you mean try hitTestPoint ala this:
    wally2.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, letsSee);
    function letsSee(event:Event)
              // create a for loop to test each array item hitting wally...
              for (var i:Number=0; i<iceiceArray.length; i++)
                   // if you don't hit platform...
              if (wally2.hitTestPoint(iceiceArray[i].x, iceiceArray[i].y, false)) {
              wally2.y -= 5;}
                          return;
    That's not working either.

  • Tips for avoiding "noisy" images in low-light

    Hi all,
    I noticed that there are a lot of users here who are complaining of noisy images especially in low-light. I'm not a professional photographer or anything but I have been playing a lot with the camera of my Xperia Z1 and I did have noisy images also at first.
    Here is my tip: Use these settings:
    Go to Manual Mode.
    Shoot in either 8MP 4:3 or 16:9 (don't worry about not making use of the 20MP, because its still doing oversampling to improve the quality of the 8MP image by making use of the whole 20MP sensor).
    Set Stabilizer to off
    ISO to Auto (if you prefer more detailed images, set ISO to a lower value but take note of the exposure of the image and that there is a chance of motion blur due to the longer shutter speed necessary to capture low light at low ISO)
    WB Auto (or your preference).
    With the setting I use above, I've seen improvements on low-light capability (indoors, artificial lighting, or night outdoor scene for example) and quality of my camera pictures. Note though that this will not be applicable for extreme low-light. Its very normal to capture really noisy images when shooting in extreme low-light (even my dedicated compact camera has troubles too).
    Here is my theory why its taking noisy images by default. In Superior Auto, I analyzed the EXIF data of the pictures I've shot. It seems that Superior Auto is really excessive in bumping up the ISO (thus resulting in more noisy images) to compensate for having a faster shutter speed (reduced motion blur). Thus what you get is a noisy image that is bright and freezes the motion. For example, test it out that in Superior Auto, even minute movements of the phone will trigger the Sports Mode (running man icon near the button) prioritizing a faster shutter speed at the cost of a higher ISO.
    Another reason I have for turning off the Stabilizer in Manual Mode is the same. In contrast to Steady Shot used in recording movies (sensor based shift to compensate for handshake movements), I think the Stabilizer option basically just bumps up the ISO also to compensate for handshake movements. I"m not entirely 100% sure but so far, I've been satisfied with taking images with the Stabilizer Off.
    Please feel free to test it out and report the results if there have been improvements. I'm still testing it out too! One of the things I wish for Sony to put in the Camera App are just these 3 things:
    1.) Holding Shutter Key will open the Camera app with the LAST CONFIGURED SETTINGS
    2.) Maximum ISO can be set in Manual Mode
    3.) Scene AUTO mode for Manual Mode (I know it might be redundant but it would be nice to have Auto mode for 4:3 orientation images).
    Again, hope to hear from others what are their settings or if they notice any improvements in images captured.
    Thanks!
