Running Netweaver Developer Studio without NetWeaver?

The Development Studio is based on NetWeaver, but does this mean, that NetWeaver is a pre-requisite to use the Development Studio?
I am asking, because I am considering to use the Development Studio as a Java IDE with Web AS 6.4., and Java JDK 1.4.2 but at present I have no SAP NetWeaver installation.
Thanks for any answer or hint.

NetWeaver is a concept/architecture and SAP has a set of products based on this architecture. This does not mean though that you must have all products to use only one of them.
NWDS is in fact a "simple" Java IDE which can be used for any kind of Java development that you want to do which can thus be used standalone.
PS. I think this question belongs in the Java Programming forum, since it's not JDI related at all....

  • Cannot deploy from netweaver developer studio to application server

    Hi
I am trying to deploy a simple EAR (ConverterEAR) to my application server.
From NW developer studio, right clicked on the SAP server that I have configured and try to a publish. It gives me the below exception. For some reason its trying to contact my old IP address. Is there a file where I can change this setting. My Laptop is set to use DHCP so my IP changes when I reboot my laptop. I also have configured a Microsoft loop back adapter.

    Hi,
you could change the connection settings to the server in the preference page in the Developer Studio. Check <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/0cf28fb4d01f23e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm">this</a> page in the documentation for details.
In your case, you can also use the host name of your laptop, or even just localhost, in the Message Server Host field in the preferences page. This should overcome the problem with dynamic IPs.
    Hope that helps!

  • Can only start Netweaver Developer Studio with Console

    Hi
For some strange reason since yesterday I can only start the Netweaver Developer studio only using the Netweaver Developer Studio Console. I uninstalled and installed but no change. I'm using 7.0.9
If I start the Netweaver Developer Studio without the console, I get the following windows error:
    <i>
Executable for SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.</i>
Does anybody have an idea how to fix this?
    Thanks
    Tim

Go to shortcut for launching the NWDS. Right click and go to properties. Go to Target. Add "-clean" in the end. Launch the NWDS now.
    Also you can do following.
    Close the NWDS.
Go to installation directory of NWDS. Go to configuration folder. There will be folder by name <>.osgi.<>. Delete this folder and start the NWDS now.

  • Creation of custom page without using NetWeaver Developer Studio

    Hi Experts,
In my project, we have not installed NetWeaver Developer Studio. We are using EP 7.0.
We have to create a custom page for the project. In this page, we have to provide seperate iViews links.
The page should look like this:
    iView 1 - Link                iView 2 - Link        iView 1 - Link
Help iView 1-Link        Help iView 1-Link     Help iView1-Link
I tried to do so by creating a page. In the page, I tried to use 'Three Coloumn Page' layout. The iviews are getting displayed in following way:
iView 1 (iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
Help iView 1 (iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
iView 2(iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
I can not display link of all six iViews. Further more iViews are getting displayed in one coloumn and 3 rows. I can see the iViews directly. I am not able to display links for iViews.
I need 3 coloumns and 2 rows layout.
Can you please let me know how to achieve this?
Whether I have to create new layout? For this whether we will need NetWeaver Developer Studio?
Can we do it by creating HTML page. In the HTML page, we will have many links. These links will point to the iViews stored in SAP EP's KM. If so, what be the steps?
I know that it can be done by creating a PAR file and deploying it. But, we don't have Netweaver Developer Studio.
Can we acheive above without using NetWeaver Developer Studio?
    Please help me.
    Regards,
    Brian

    Hi Kedar,
Thanks. My requirement is that six iViews links should be shown in the portal content area.
The iViews links should be like
    iView 1-Link         iView 2-Link           iView 3-Link
Help iView 1-Link Help iView 2-Link    Help iView3-Link
When user will click on any iView link, the relevant iView should be displayed.  The iView can be displayed in seperate new page. So naturally five iView link will not be displayed.
I am planning to create one HTML page and store it in KM. I will call this page in portal content area.
There will be hyperlink on this HTML page. The hyper link will be attached to other iView links in  KM.
Whenever user will click on any Help link or iView link the corresponding iView will be called from  KM.
So in KM we will store 7 objects. 3 HTMLpages for help. 1 HTML page for main page.
    Other 3 will point to iView-Link1, iView-Link2 and iView-Link3.
Can I do so? Will it sort out my problem?
    Thanks

  • ResourceBundle error in NetWeaver Developer Studio MI 2.5 SP16 Patch 3.

    SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio
    Version: 2.0.19
    Build id: 200610270428
MDK Mobile Development Kit Tools v2.5.13
    Java: j2sdk 1.4.0 Win
    Mobile client: MI 2.5 SP16 Patch 3
    Running MAU v1.0 SR 5
    Downloaded:
    MAM FOR UTILITIES 1 0 SP05 05042006
In the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio I imported the MAU_eclipse.war from MAM FOR UTILITIES 1 0 SP05 05042006 using the MDK as MAU.war.
Yet, without implementing any changes, just to test, I exported the MAU project into a war file in the following path: C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure\webapps\MAU.war.
    I renamed the existing folder C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure\webapps\MAU to MAU_Old
Then, I started MAU from within the NetWeaver Developer Studio by selecting Run, Run.
The client application launched and the new MAU.war file was automatically unpacked C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure\webapps\MAU
The application opens and can be successfully logged into from the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
When the MOBILE ASSET MANAGEMENT FOR UTILITIES link is selected in the client application, error messages appear for example.
See below for the full error messages.
It appears the errors below might be somewhat straightforward, mentioning that the resource bundle could not be found.
Please assist regarding how to ensure the resource bundle can be found and properly loaded for example or what else could be the issue.
Please note that the application opens and can be successfully navigated by launching and logging into C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure\MobileEngine.exe directly.
The issue is launching from within the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio for running or debugging.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hello,
MDK plug in is as bad as NWDS itself. Since the mobile applications are really just a java application, you do not need special plugin for developing them. I STRONGLY suggest to take a look at this blog entry I did when I was working on MAM at SAP:
How to set up NWDS or Eclipse without MDK

  • Sap Netweaver Developer Studio Error.....

    Hi guys.
I have a problem with Sap Netweaver Developer Studio i have installed JDK and NDS in my pc and i try to make the examples, i have finished to develop the applications(without problems) but i couldn't deploy them, i have a portal server installed and running, i tried to configure the server name in the J2EE Engine Configuration but it had no effect.
    I have the next error
Cannot determine sdm host (is empty). Please configure your engine/sdm correctly !

    Oscar,
for WebDynpro-Projects you can create an .ear-archive in the context menu of your porject ("Create archive") that you have to deploy with SDM. BUT: webdynpro requires WebApplication Server 6.40! You cant use a webdynpro-project in your current ep60sp2-installation.
for portal applications you can export a .par-arcive in the context menu of your project ("Export...", choose "PAR file") that you can import in your portal.
you can't test your application without deploying it to a server. if you haven't got a connection to the server during developing, you have to install a portal or at least a WAS6.20(Java) & EP60SP2 or WAS640(java) & EP60SP>2 locally on your computer.
if you choose to do that, i recommend the WAS6.40(Preview) because you can then develop webdynpros, too.

  • Deployable External Library in NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.01.06

I'm using SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 7.01.06 Build id: 201001061835
I need to make an External Library with some JARs inside. I've made an External Library component and I've created Assembly and Compilation public parts. After A LOT of attempts to make things work, I've resorted to using a custom build script to copy the JAR in the public part output folders. I've added the Compilation public part dependency in my Web Dynpro's Used DC list.
The Web Dynpro builds without errors.
Now the problem is that when I run the Web Dynpro application it gives me a ClassNotFound Error.
I've followed the instructions of many different guides and no one worked. I've found thousands of different procedures all to make the same thing and all of them differed in crucial parts. I'm stuck here with no ideas on how to make this ******* IDE to work.
I've tried to create an J2EE Server Component Library to which I've added the Assembly public part of the External Library but the GEN folder of the public part directory of J2EE SCL is empty! I have NO application*.xml files inside the J2EE SCL to edit.
If you're reading this and you're kind enough to help me, thank you.
    Remember I have version 7.01.06.
    Thank you again,
    Pietro

    Hi
Just out of curiosity, is your project of type DC?
If it is DC allow me to quote Mr Walter Kahn
The solution using DC's is very simple.
As a first step, undo all the stuff you have done up to now in this thread, including removing any build-time references, and deleting anything you entered in the application-xml files.  When you are back to a "clean" Web Dynpro DC, do the following:
Step 1: Create an External Library Development Component
1.1) Switch to Development Infrastructure perspective.
1.2) Create a new dc of type External Library  (eg. mycompany.com/downloadexcel/lib)
1.3) Switch to the Resource perspective when prompted and copy your JAR's to the libraries folder of the project.
1.4) View the Component Properties (Window -> Show View -> Component Properties)
1.5) Click the tab "Public Parts".
1.6) Add two public parts, one for COMPILATION and one for ASSEMBLY.  Give them names likeexport_excel_comp and export_excel_asbly
1.7) Right-click each public part, then click Manage Entities -> Archive  and select all the JAR's presented for selection.
1.8) Click the Permissions tab, and check Entity Forwarding Allowed.
Step 2: Create an Enterprise Application Development Component
2.1) Switch to Development Infrastructure perspective.2.
    2.2) Create a new dc of type J2EE -> Enterprise Application (eg.mycompany.com/downloadexcel/ear)
2.3) Switch to the JavaEE perspective when prompted.
2.4) View the Component Properties (Window -> Show View -> Component Properties)
2.5) Click the Dependencies tab, and add a dependency to the DC created in Step 1.  Do not change any of the default options.
2.6) Click the Permissions tab, and check Entity Forwarding Allowed.
2.7) Click the Public Parts tab and create a new Public Part of type COMPILATION.  Give it a name, eg. pp_export_excel
2.8) Right-click this public part, choose Reference Entities and select the COMPILATION public part defined in step 1.6 above.
2.9) Right-click this dc, and do Development Component -> Build.
Step 3: Using the External Library in Your Web Dynpro Application
3.1) Switch to Web Dynpro perspetive.
3.2) View the Component Properties (Window -> Show View -> Component Properties)
3.3) Highlight your Web Dypro dc, and then in the Component Properties window select theDependencies tab.
3.4) Add a dependency to the dc created in Step 2.  Accept all default options.
3.5) Build and deploy the Web Dynpro dc.  If you have not changed any of the default options along the way, you will notice that the EAR of Step 2 also gets deployed.
Your Web Dypro dc should now compile correctly and also run on the server as expected.
    Quoted from here.
You may also refer to my blog where I use external jars ....

    Hi Nils,
I think you must have selected the defualt checkbox (Try and uncheck that). Also uncheck the checkbox for "<i>Yes, I want to remeber the password for deployment</i>" if it is also selected. When you deploy the par file now enter the password and try to deploy. I think this will solve your problem.
Apart from this, try this methos of deploying the Par file.
    1) Save you project. Right click it and "Quick par Upload".
    2) On your browser type
    "http://<your_server_name>:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/"
    Your case:
    <i>http://khz059:52900/irj/servlet/prt/portal/</i>
or same page you can get by navigating:
    System Administration-> Support-> Portal Runtime-> Administration Console.
    3) At the option "Please specify a Portal Archive file (PAR) and press "upload" to store it into the PCD." Deploy your par file by giving the path.
Now you file is deployed on the server. If you want to create an Iview from this deployed .par file then :
    1) On your portal. Follow the path: Content Administrator-> Portal Content -> Portal Content(sub-option). Right click -> New from par ->iView.
    2) Here in the list you will find the par file which you have uploaded. Proceed as said.
    3) You will finally have an iView. Right click it and preview it.
I hope this solves your problem.
    Regards
    Pravesh

    Hi Jennifer,
This problem is a common one.
1)Make sure that you have Administrator rights in the systems where you are launching NW Studio.
2)Go to your workspace check the log file (basically a text file)
3)Clear your unwanted registry in your registry folder.
If this doesn't work, re-install NW Studio by deleting the older version from Add or Remove Program in control Panel.
Give the Java bin path correctly and devote any folder of your choice to be your workspace.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Guru.
P.S :- There is no link for launching of NW Studio with Internet Explorer as both are different applications.

    Hi,
I got this solution from SAP and it worked.
This is a known problem that appers due to an implementation bug,
while trying to read the proxy information. The studio expects non-
empty value for key com.tssap.config/proxy, located in
    [YourDevStudioInstallationPath]\eclipse\plugins\com.sap.java.ide\pl
ugin_customization.ini file. During the installation no value is
assigned to this key (as you mentioned - no proxy in your case). The
problem will be fixed for SP14, however there is a workaround:
    1. Change the value for key com.tssap.config/proxy in
    plugin_customization.ini to something like this - proxy:80.
    2. After this change the DevStudio should start and you'll be able to
configure your proxy settings from Menu Window->Preferences-
    >Workbench->Proxy Settings. (In your case - disable the proxy
    server)

This seems to be some issue with wrong S/W choice between 32bit and 64 bit version.  Or could be some OS related patch missing.
You seem to have Win 32 bit version and JDK installed is 64bit version.
    Pls confirm.

  • Help With Netweaver Developer Studio Version

Hi everyone I have a problem, I am doing some examples to programmer Web dynpro using netweaver developer studio, How can I know what is my Netweaver Developer Studio version? Because I have a trial version and I dont know if my version is compatible to doing some examples, for example I found this link
Web Dynpro Java Tutorials and Samples NW 2004
and I wanna doing the example "Using EJBs in Web Dynpro" and when I open this document it starts with SAP netweaver 04 and I don't know if my trial version is compatible with this example.
    Thanks

    Israel,
Open your NWDS, go to Help/About.
Most likely you will see something like:
    Version: 7.0.11
If version is 7.0.X, your NWDS is NetWeaver 7.0, formerly known as NetWeaver 2004s.
Most likely there will be no problem running examples from NW 2004, earlier version.
Just make sure your JDK you have on your dev computer has similar version as JDK on the target server, if you are building locally and deploying your application to another server.
Post if you have a different version.
We will guess what NW version it belongs to.

  • Problem launching Adobe Designer in Netweaver Developer Studio

    Hi All,
I have successfully (I believe) installed all the components required to have Adobe Interactive Forms running on WAS 6.40 (SR1), in accordance with Achim Hauk's blog 'My struggles with the Adobe Document Services in WAS6.40' (thanks Achim!).
When I go to try the Interactive Form tutorial, and I launch the Adobe Designer 6.0 from Netweaver Developer Studio (version 2.0.9) by right-clicking on my InteractiveForms UI element and selecting 'Edit', I get a popup error 'An error occurred decoding Base64 data - encoded data is invalid or corrupted'.  Does anyone know what this means and how to correct it?  When I press the OK button on this popup the Adobe Designer is correctly launched, however any changes I make within the Designer don't seem to be saved.
Any help would be very much appreciated.  Not sure if it makes any difference, but I have Adobe Reader 6.0.2 installed on my client.
    Thanks

    Hi John,
I've installed the SP15 sneak preview last weekend. Based on my experience, if you are not using SSL set up, you only need three steps to set up ADS.
    1. Create user ADSUser and user group ADSGroup
    2. Set up basic authentication
    3. Set up credential file
Now, step 1 and 2 which is in the guide is already done when you finish the installation of sneak preview SP15. All you have to do is to set up credential file.
I was having problem with Read timed out issue, and Markus pointed that web service time out need to be increased in my case. I haven't tested it yet since I am away from my PC, but i'm pretty sure it will fix the time out problem.
Also if you download the credential a while back, that file will expired the end of this month (Feb). Markus has posted a new credential file which will expire in June.
