Running PHP script from Java apps

Hi,
I have a PHP application that opens up a template (MS Word) invoice file, inserts some information in the file (eg. today's date, customer name) and then saves it as a new Word file. My questions are as follows.
1- How can I call this script from my Java application. Please not that I want to be able to pass parameters (eg. custome name read from a DB) from my Java app. to this script.
2- Is it possible to print already saved MS Word documents from Java? If so, how?
3- Is it possible to do what my PHP script is doing in pure Java? I couldn't find a simple way of doing this, that's why I used PHP but I would like to do this in Java if I can.
thanks in advance,
Mete

  • Running sqlplus scripts from Java code?

    hi
    I need to programmatically run sqlplus scripts from Java code on a machine that doesn't have sqlplus installed.
    Is there any Java class library available for doing this?

    The Ant approach could probably work for me, thanks for the tip.
    The setup seems rather complex however, given the simplicity of the task. I would prefer just running a Java based SQL*Plus from in a separate process or doing this via an API that would allow me to run SQL*Plus scripts (parse script, substitute variables, run statements).
    Oracle SQL Developer v1.1 appears to include an API that does exactly this.
    The ScriptParser, Substitution and SQLPLUS classes in the oracle.dbtools.raptor.scriptrunner package (oracle.sqldeveloper.jar) seem to do just what I need based on my tests.
    Can I use these classes for this purpose in my application? Is repackaging allowed?
    Does Oracle have any plans for releasing this sort of functionality separately e.g. as part of the Instant Client?

  • How to run a makefile from java app?

    Hi,
    I want to run a make command the first time my java swing application is run. The makefile is in a directory that the application is using for input files. Do I need to write a script to house the make command or is there another way to run make?
    Thanks

    Thanks for that but I'm not actually trying to build a makefile for my java app - I just want to be able to run one that is going to generate a bunch of html files for my application to access. The make command works great from the command line but I can't just put a directory followed by "make html" in a string and run it using runtime.exec in my application.

  • Is it Possible to Run SQL Script from Java prog

    Hello
    Is there any API by which we can run SQl Script file ,
    Just by giving database configration parameters and SQL Script file Path ,it will execute that script automatically

    You can excute SQL statemetns throught JDBC, but that doesn't have a facility to read those statements from a file. You'd have to write code to read the file and create and execute statements through JDBC. That should be pretty straightforward though.
    It's conceivable that there's a third party library out there that does it, if you know what to look for.
    If you're not familiar with JDBC, check out http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Database/JDBC20Intro/

  • Running a script from java application

    How do I execute a script (sms_setver which requires parameters such ms9qa) from java application using Runtime.exec(). I tried Runtime.getRuntime().exec("sms_setver ms9qa"). But, I get this error:
    Caught: java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: sms_setver ms9qa error=2

    Same way it is actually run from a console command line.
    If you are doing this in windows then it might be using the extension to determine how to run it. If from unix then it might be using the shebang line.
    At any rate figure it out and use that instead. Usually it involves either explicitly using the shell or some other executable and the script is a parameter to that process.

  • Run a UNIX Script from java

    Hi,
    how can i run a unix script from java application. This java application is on windows.
    How can i do this.
    thanks,

    Hi,
    how can i run a unix script from java application.
    This java application is on windows.
    So I think it's safe to assume that the target script is on a remote unix server.
    Take a look at http://sourceforge.net/projects/sshtools/

  • How to run a script from Oracle Form (Beside using HOST command)

    I would like to run a script from Forms 6.0. I know that we can actually issue this command :
    host('plus80.exe' username/password@connect_string @c:\scriptname);
    BUT, is there any other alternative ?

    Sqlplus is a different program, so one way or the other you have to leave Forms to run sqlplus. What is you objection against HOST?
    You can also run sqlplus from the database, but again you need a stored java procedure to call sqlplus (sort of HOST command that runs in the database).
    Francois' solution works if your script just has a query to run, but if you have specific sqlplus commands (spool etc.) forms_ddl is probably not a solution.

  • Running local scripts from air

    i have a client that wants an air app that will run a local python script from the app and get data back from it(the python script starts a motion capture device connected to the machine).  is this even possible with air?  the machine running the air app will be specialized for that machine and the python script will all ways be in the same location on the machine.  i'm mostly worried about the air security settings.  i'm thinking that the machine would just run a local websever and the air app could access the python script in that environment.  any ideas if this can be done?

  • How to execute Linux command from Java app.

    Hi all,
    Could anyone show me how to execute Linux command from Java app. For example, I have the need to execute the "ls" command from my Java app (which is running on the Linux machine), how should I write the codes?
    Thanks a lot,

    You can use "built-in" shell commands, you just need to invoke the shell and tell it to run the command. See the -c switch in the man page for your shell. But, "ls" isn't built-in anyays.
    If you use exec, you will want to set the directory with the dir argument to exec, or add it to the command or cmdarray. See the API for the variants of java.lang.Runtime.exec(). (If you're invoking it repeatedly, you can most likely modify a cmdarray more efficiently than having exec() decompose your command).
    You will also definitely want to save the returned Process and read the output from it (possibly stderr too and get an exit status). See API for java.lang.Process. Here's an example
    java.io.BufferedReader br =
    new java.io.BufferedReader(new java.io.InputStreamReader(
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec ("/sbin/ifconfig ppp0").
    getInputStream()));
    while ((s = br.readLine()) != null) {...

  • Example: Executing a shell script from java

    Hi. There are many other posts in the forums related to executing a unix script from java, but I wanted to post another example that I thought might be helpful...
    The key thing to executing the script is to include the -c switch for the sh command. This tells the sh command that you are passing a string to be interpreted as input. Without this switch, the script does not execute as you'd expect it to. Also, use a string array to pass each part of the sh command.
    Here is a working sample class, along with a test script to execute it:
    public class TestShellScript {
    public static void main(String[] args)
    String[] chmod = {"chmod","777","testscript1"};
    String[] runscript = {"sh","-c","./testscript1 > jdata.out"};
    Runtime rtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
    try
    rtime.exec(chmod); // Set the authorities for testing
    rtime.exec(runscript); // Run the script with redirection
    catch (IOException e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    rtime = null;
    Here is a test script to wrap the java call:
    #!/bin/sh
    cd /<your script dir>
    export -s CLASSPATH=/<your jar dir>/TestShellScript.jar
    export -s PATH=/<your script dir>:/usr/bin
    java TestShellScript
    - Hope this helps.

    I don't know exactly but the code written below is working fine try the same with your code .Even with your code instead running the code with
    " ./<filename> ",if you execute it with "sh <filename>" command without changing the mode of the file it is executing properly.
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class ScriptBuilder
    public ScriptBuilder()
    public void writeScript() throws java.io.IOException
    FileWriter writer = new FileWriter(new File("test_script"));
    writer.write("#! /bin/sh\n");
    writer.write("ll>/home/faiyaz/javaprac/checkll");
    writer.flush();
    writer.close();
    Runtime rt= Runtime.getRuntime();
    rt.exec("chmod 777 test_script");
    rt.exec("./test_script");
    } public static void main (String[] args)throws java.io.IOException
    ScriptBuilder sb = new ScriptBuilder();
    sb.writeScript();
    }

  • Valid sesion for run jython script from a plan

    If I run a cr_clij script i have to do
    app.execStr('udb.login -u user -p password') once and do not produce the login information anymore.
    It is possible to do the same with the sessionID, if I run the script from a plan on the BUI? Or do I have to add the '-s sessionID' option to all clui commands?
    Thanks

    Hi TemPart:
    string cmdArg = “C:\\Scripts\\test.ps1″;
    Runspace runspace = RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace();
    runspace.Open();
    Pipeline pipeline = runspace.CreatePipeline();
    pipeline.Commands.AddScript(cmdArg);
    Collection [PSObject] results = pipeline.Invoke(); // please Update [] bracket with less then and greater then bracket
    runspace.Close();
    Had to modify this slightly:
    string cmdArg = “Powershell.exe -file C:\\Scripts\\test.ps1″;
    Runspace runspace = RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace();
    runspace.Open();
    Pipeline pipeline = runspace.CreatePipeline();
    pipeline.Commands.AddScript(cmdArg);
    Collection [PSObject] results = pipeline.Invoke(); // please Update [] bracket with less then and greater then bracket
    runspace.Close();
    If this is helpful please mark it so. Also if this solved your problem mark as answer.

  • Run a script from a script

    Can anyone help me run a script from a script to kill an event listener?
    There is an event listener on save. The same script may be run multiple times before changing workflows (which require different sets of scripts).
    The eventual goal is to have a time stamp in a specific text frame that will already have content. The new stamp will overwrite the old, and only happen before close. Right now it's set for "on save" because I can't figure out an if else statement for "before close". I don't want to have to end the session to be able to work different job types. I need to be able to kill the event listener when exiting documents that create one.
    I'm throwing crap at the wall, hoping it will stick. I'm sure there's a better way to handle it. Anyone have ideas.
    CS3 & CS4 javascript
    Thanks

    Here's the kind of thing I use:
      function runShortRanges() {
        var shortRangesScript = File(getScriptPath().parent.parent + "/IndexExtras/ShortRanges.jsx");
        if (shortRangesScript.exists) {
          app.doScript(shortRangesScript);
    In this case, I want to run a particular script in a known location, only if it exists. It's a way of adding optional functionality to a script.

  • Problems running external programs from java

    Hello.
    I wrote a pair of perl scripts and a GUI in java to run them. The first perl script just read the files in one directory makes some changes to the names of the files and then group all this files in a set of new directories. The other perl scripts takes all this new files and calls BLAST sequence alignment program and perform some alignments among these sequences. I tested this scripts and they work fine.
    The problem comes when I try to run them for the JAVA GUI. I use RunTime and when I need to run the first perl script it all works well, but when The call to the second perl script is made the program fisishes without doing anything at all. I found out that the problem is that when running the script from the Java GUI it's not able to find BLAST program. So I guess that Java is not really starting a terminal session and it doesn't read my bash_profile to find out the path to my programs.
    So, my question is if anyone knows a method to tell Java to load all this paths in the bash_proflie file so all of my scripts work???.
    I have no idea is this can be done and how so any advice would be really wellcome.
    By the way, my java version is 1.4.2 and my OS is Mac OS X 10.3
    Thanks a lot , Julio
