Running prstat non-interactively

Hi,
I'd like to be able to run "prstat" in background from a script and have the output redirected to a file.
It works fine when attached to the terminal, but I would like to run it from cron or call it from another script. When trying this, prstat starts dumping out the samples as fast as it can -- it ignores the delay parameter (e.g. 20 seconds/sample) I fed it. I think prstat is expecting terminal input and
is defective at running in this non-interactive mode. Is there any workaround for this problem?

Hi,
This appears to be a known bug (id # 4529138). This is fixes in Solaris 9.
The workaround is to use the same command as a non-root user.

yes but you need patch 1 for forms (better use patch4).

Cloning context file on db tier fails when run non-interactively

Hi all,
I have a problem where cloning the DB tier context file using adclonectx.pl non-interactively using a pairsfile and noprompt fails in certain circumstances and continually returns this error
Target System Port Pool [0-99] : RC-00201: Error: Not a valid port pool number
If we clone from prod or uat (which are on different nodes) to non-prod it works fine, if we clone from a different non-prod environment (on the same node) it fails.
We can run adclonectx.pl interactively with the same pairsfile and it works, so I copied all of the variables in the log into the pairsfile and ran it non-interactively and it failed with the same error.
My understanding is that adclonectx.pl uses the source DB context file and the pairsfile to create the new context file. I've tried cloning the context file non-interactively from several different non-prod envs with the same error, so I don't think it's specific to 1 source env.
It seems to want to prompt for the portpool when it's on the same node as the source environment.
EBS 12.1.3, DB 11.2.0.3 RAC 2 node on Oracle Linux 5.
I've raised 3-9540409031 : adclonectx.pl on db Tier errors with RC-00201 when run non-interactively using pairsfile - but haven't got an answer yet.
This is the pairsfile with everthing in it - generated from an interactive session that worked.

That makes sense to me ... the pool parameter should be in the pairsfile, .. or in the parameters when calling it at command line
You can force the pool to be changed, even when you're on the same server. Actually, I would use different pools for any environment, different server or not. And, avoid the default pool as well. If you do it this way, one of the advantages is that you spot issues - like the one you have - much much earlier. In that case, you would need that extra parameter on every run.

Run Oracle form non-interactively

I am using Oracle 8i.
I want to be able to run a form non-interactively, that is, in batch mode.
The reason for that is that the application is a "turn-key" package and I don't have access to the source. I want to be able to run the form from a UNIX script rather than having a human key in the input.
I know what the screen fields need to be and which function key to "press".
Has anyone run a form non-interactively?
Is this possible?
Can anyone suggest a way of doing this? I was thinking that the UNIX utility expect may help.

Timeline based presentation (non interactive)

I work in a drugstore and I want to advertise the products and give some useful info using a mac mini 1.4 Ghz 512 RAM. The computer will run the presention in loop mode.
However, every month our small cities drugstores make a list in which list is displayed witch drugstore will stay open all night long.
Is it possible to define a timeline and tell Keynote what to display in every loop and what to display for specific hours? I mean something like:
"Show this slide from 13:00 till 23:00 at 14/02/2007"
"then show another slide from 23:00 14/02/2007 to 08:00 15/02/2007"
etc?
I believe that it does not exist such an option in Keynote, I already know it's made for interactive presentations (do we have a tool on macosx for non interactive presentations?) but maybe with applescript is possible..

How to use Reader in non-interactive persistent mode to convert PDFs?

How to use Adobe Acrobat Reader in non-interactive and persistent mode to convert PDFs to PostScript (or even better, bitmapped image files) ?
At present, I'm using
acroread -toPostScript indir/*pdf outdir/
to convert a set of PDFs to PostScript (the platform is Solaris on Sparc).
These PDFs arrive at varying rates at arbitrary intervals and I'd like to avoid the overhead of startup of the acroread process and loading of the fonts etc. I would like the acroread process to become persistent and that it should convert the PDFs either as and when they become available or on demand (ie upon receipt of some signal or message).
In the words, the usage is similar to that used by web browsers, which is effectively a client of the rendering service provided by the Adobe Acrobat Reader running in the background.
The only difference is that I need the output in a file (or set of files), either bitmap or PostScript.
Any help / pointers on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

As I understand, you would like to setup a watch folder which will be getting pdf files in arbitrary intervals. You then want each pdf to be converted to ps in a separate folder.
You could achieve this with the help of a script by polling for pdf files present in the watch folder. When you find pdf files, convert them to ps, save the ps file in another folder and then move the pdf to another folder.
In any case, once the process of conversion of pdf to ps is over, acroread will quit.
There is no way to keep the acroread process running in background and convert pdfs as and when they are available.

Non-Interactive PDF Form scenario without rthe need of ACF

Hello experts,
i have a question for you. I implemented Dynamic Non-Interactive PDF Form scenario and it works fine. But ... If some user wants to generate the PDF form it's necessary to install Active Component Framework on his computer. Problem is that some users doesn't have admin permissions on their PCs and they are not able to install ACF. Do you have any idea how to walk around the problem? For example generate and save the PDF somewhere on server side and then offer download link to end-user....

        browser machine.
in the note 1055911. But I think that we use some controls from other libraries than Web Dynpro Native (step 2). Do you think it could be the problem? The Web Dynpro Native library contains very reduced set of controls.

[SOLVED] Non-interactive SSH login and shell startup files

I have a problem getting git-annex connecting to my arch box because of
PATH not being correctly set. When diagnosing this problem I noticed that
~/.bashrc seems to be ignored for non-interactive SSH logins. More specifically,
ssh myhost env
Shows that when connecting to my other computer running gentoo, or to a
separate server (probably running some flavor of Debian, I am not sure),
environment variables defined in ~/.bashrc are present, but when connecting
to my arch box, they are not. All three computers have identical ~/.bashrc
files and ~/.bash_profile is set to read ~/.bashrc, and in all cases the file is
sourced for an interactive login (i.e., 'ssh myhost' followed by 'env'). I tried to
search through the various bash files in /etc, but didn't find anything related.
Is there some bash or SSH setting that controls this behavior?
Solution:
I looked into this a bit more and found BASH_ENV which can be used to point to
a file which is sourced for non-interactive shells. So I set
BASH_ENV=~/.bashrc
in /etc/environment, and now ~/.bashrc is sourced even for non-interactive
shells and thus my PATH is correctly set. What I still don't know is why
arch behaves differently in this respect, but I guess that will remain a mystery.

try creating a .login file and put exec bash in there.
Not _super_ familiar with csh, but I *think* csh loads .login only on login shells (as apposed to always loading .cshrc).
Barring that, the following should work.

Rendering a non-interactive form

How do we use scripting in Live Cycle Designer to render a non-interactive pdf. Data is populating the form using xml. Thanks and help will be appreciated

Couple of issues that you should know before proceeding.
1. To communicate with a web service from the form using Reader you will need to Reader Extend the form using Reader Extensions Server and not Acrobat. Acrobat does not turn that right on. Note that if you intend to use Acrobat this is not an issue.
2. There is no means of getting the PDF form while it is running into the context of a SOAP message. There is no programmatic way to put the PDF into the payload from the form. I can get the data but not the form.
3. Once the data is populated into the form we could change all of the fields to Read Only ...thereby achieving the flattening that you require.
4. The web service will not be able to save or print locally through the client. The client will have to do that . The client being Reader or Acrobat.

want to automate backup of APPL tier
To do that it is required to run adpreclone.pl with non-interactive mode i.e. It will not ask for any password when it will run through shell script.
Or something like perl adpreclone.pl appsTier pwd=<>
Is there is any other way to do that?
Please advice.

How to execute orainstRoot.sh during non-interactive install

I'm creating a non-interactive install for 8.1.7 using the
-silent and -responseFile switches. However, the install
continues to hang when it gets to the point where orainstRoot.sh
needs to be run as root. The oracle response file titled
svrcustom.rsp only takes into account the need to run root.sh.
There is no provision for orainstRoot.sh. Has anyone else encountered this and, if
so, how did you get around this?

Hi:
Oracle patching utility (adpatch) is optimized not to execute/copy the file unless the version in the $Header is higher in the patch as compared to the instance. Please bump up the $Header version within the script and update the package to pull in the changed file. When you deploy the package again, the file should get invoked.

Bundling different (non-interactive) forms

Hi,
I want to bundle different non-interactive form. When I run the report FP_CHECK_BATCH_PDF_RETURN with the settings:
Bundle Mode = X
All Forms in One PDS = checked
i got the error message "Call contained error(s): ASSEMBLE (FP_JOB_OPEN)"
When I select Bundle Mode = M everything works fine. I tested the report on many different systems with different ADS versions, but the error was always the same. Can anyone tell my what the problem is?

OpenSSH: How to setup non-interactive SSH/SFTP/SCP

Anyone has any idea how to setup/configure OpenSSH on Solaris (Client) & Windows (Server) for sftp/scp transfer in non-interactive host-based authentication.
I need to setup this for secure file transfer from a solaris client to a windows server without having to enter a password. My external script will run in crontab to tap on sftp/scp for file transfer.

I'd go for key-based authentication and simply don't provide a password for the key. You're on your own about how to implement this on Windows, so far I wasn't even aware Windows had a SSH service.

Multiple images into a subform in a dynamic non-interactive adobe form

I want to convert a set of images into a PDF (one page for each image) with Webdynpro. I'm trying with a non-interactive adobe form.
I followed the tutorial "Dynamic Non-Interactive PDF Form".
I've got a multiple Context node: 'Images' with a string attribute 'url' for each image.
In the form, I've created subform1, and subform2 within. I put an image field into subform2, setting its url to: $record.Images[*].url
and its script to: this.value.image.href = xfa.resolveNode(this.value.image.href).value;
It doesn't work.
If I add a field into subform2 binding it to url attribute, I can see some lines with the correct path for each image, but the image isn't displayed.
It works with a single dynamic image in the page. What am I doing wrong?

I tried this code in table 'initialize' event.

Cell4 is a static image.
In 04SP9, it show always the same image in the image field (first column), and alternating image in cell4 (second column).
In 04sSP6, it shows always the same image in all the rows in both columns.
Any idea? I didn't find any OSS related.

How to make an interactive report, non-interactive

Hi,
I have an interactive report. I have disabled every interactive control from the report by setting "include search bar" to NO and also at column level i didnt allow to sort or group or any other thing. Only problem is that when i click the column heading, i see a text box poping up and asks to enter some value so that it could filter the report and if i provide any value and pres enter, it returns message "ERR-1777: Page 1 provided no page to branch to. Please report this error to your application administrator."
How can i disable this text box from appearing and making report fully non interactive. I don't want to rebuild the page as not interactive report and want to disable this popup from my current interactive report.

You can "disable" the column links by hiding them.
The simplest method would be to change the column heading to something like:
</div>>div<EnameThe link is created on a DIV tag that contains no text. The above will close this DIV and open a new one for the heading. As there's no text in the first DIV, the user can't see it nor click on it.
