Running signed applet on Java 5: Certificate not verified

Hello!
I am running my signed applet, it uses Bouncy Castle provider bcprov-jdk15-125.jar.
My applet.jar is signed by my own certificate. When running from a browser, I get error message:
Certificate Not Verified. Code will be treated as unsigned. Clicking on details button, read:
Check leaf key usage failed in certificate. Then goes the stack trace.
What is the problem? I was successfully ran it on J2SDK 1.4.2_05.
Thanks.

I get this same error for a signed webstart app in Java 5.0.
In 1.4.2.x it works fine.

  • Signed Applet In Java Web Server

    I have created signed applet signed by myself. It works fine with appletviewer as well as web browsers. Now I want to place this signed applet in Java webserver.
    My queries are
    1.Where to place this signed applet(Is it in publichtml Folder ????)
    2.Where to place my certificate and policy files in server.
    3 If I access this applet from any other machines(client)how to avoid Grant Permission Dialog box coming everytime.
    Thanks

    hi
    i would like to ask you about the applet that you've signed, heve you uses the java.securitu
    classes in it's code?? and how did u signed it. because i'm trying to sign an applet where i didn't use security classes, it runs with ie but it doesn't run with netscape even if i uses the netscape signing tool.

  • Certificate Not Verified

    There seems to be a problem with Certificates.
    My younger brother has played an online game called RuneScape for several years. What used to happen on our old mac was the first time he would load the game a cirtificate thing would pop up, and he would have to accept it in order for the page to load. Now when he uses Safari 3 I get a popup saying
    "*Certificate Not Verified*
    Code will be treated as unsigned"
    This happens with any computer when you use Safari 3 to try to load the page, but when he uses firefox with the new Mac, it works fine.
    It also might be helpful to know that this happens when
    "Signed Applet Using Default Java (Recommended)" is selected
    but it works fine if you select
    "Unsigned Applet Using Default Java".
    Help please?

    this TOTALLY fixed the problem for me
    (which started i believe when i deleted the cache, cookies and security settings stuff in camino, sometimes apparently the certificates don't like, preserve themselves or something...):
    http://support.rhombic.net/knowledge-base/articles/no-root-certificate-with-mail -app
    follow the download links...
    and also
    https://knowledge.verisign.com/support/ssl-certificates-support/index?page=conte nt&id=SO4785&actp=LIST
    (follow the first instruction under the resolution heading)
    I don't know actually if this last link above is helpful but i did it anyways. If you find out, let me know!
    once these have been downloaded to your desktop, double-clicking them automatically opens keychain. Be sure to put them into your X509 Anchors...
    It hasn't resolved everything, but the major websites, its made EVERYTHING a lot easier. and no, i don't want to Archive and Install.

  • Is it necessary to have java installed on each system to run sign applet?

But the problem is that it's run successfully on the system in which java is installed but it do not not run on the system on which java is not installed. There is warning java plug-ins missing. I have tried to run many banking website which is using signed applet from Trusted parties they run successfully. I have searched many tutorials and forums but not able to find any help.

    I think you are right, I know I'm right!
    because I was going through a article and found that it is possible to auto-download the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) onto the users machine.But I don't have any idea of how to auto-download JRE.
    Could you give me some hints so that I could some idea about this.Not really. I just put a link to the Sun site and ask the user to follow the directions. Google is your friend.

  • Problem running signed applet in 1.4 plugin

    Hello,
    We have a signed applet which we're trying to run on clients downloaded over the web. Our client applet is developed for Java 1.4.0. We're signing the applet because it is expected to access local client resources. The client applet runs successfully on some machines and on both IE6 and Netscape 7. We have installed Java Plugin 1.4 on all machines. But on some machines we receive the following exception:
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission java.home read)

    in the console, hit "s" to dump system properties on one machine that is working and one that is not, and post the dumps here. If it is a configuration issue, that will likely point to the problem.

  • Signed Applet  gives "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" message

    I am using a Signed Applet to access resources on the disk and as well as to write on to the disk.
    My Applet class "Applet.class" is bundled along with other required jar files(SignedA.jar , SignedB.jar) into a single jar file "SignedApplet.jar". The external jar files have also been signed using the same key.
    When I run this applet, it gives an error " java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" for the classes that Applet.class tries to access in the external jar file SignedA.jar
    Please help

    You need to set your classpath correctly. Search the forums for NoClassDefFoundError and you will find hundreds of posts on this topic. Many of them have answers explaining how to set your classpath.

  • Taking screenshot with java applet using java robot class not working

    Hi Everyone,
    I am using the java applet to take screenshot of the web browser using the java's robot class.
    Robot objRobot = new Robot ();
    BufferedImage objBufferedImage = objRobot.createScreenCapture(objRectArea);
    The thing work good in windows system taking screenshot but in case of mac osx i get the blank image.When i check the event viewer in mac osx i get the following error.
    invalid context
    invalid pixel format
    CoreAnimation: rendering error 506
    The problem is coming for all the browser safari,firefox and chrome.My applet is signed applet.
    What might be the reason.An early reply is very valuable.
    My machine configuration is as follows.
    OS : MAC OSX
    Version : 10.6.4
    Is that a system level issue , java plugin issue?I'am confused with this error.
    Thanks sagar.

  • How to run an applet with .java files in 2 dirrerent directories ?

    I have an applet with :
    5 .java class files and its .html file in one directory and
    2 .java class files ( with identical names) and its .html file in another directory .
    How do I go about executing this applet ? In the past all the applets
    I have run had all the classes in one directory.
    Thank you in advance

    If you want them both in the same page, put both applet tags in 1 page,
    I could do that but both directories have a SpaceDunes.class
    and both directories have a Shot class (diffferent immplementations
    but the same name)
    so the applet tag
    <APPLET CODE="SpaceDunes.class"
    CODE="SpaceDunes.class"
    This can't be the right approach ? ?

  • Certificate Not Verified for Wifi WPA Enterprise

    Hi all
    I have a MDM server to deploy profile to all enrolled devices (iPhone4s, iPad...etc) for wifi setting (WPA2 PEAP SSID: M_WEP_ENT).
    But I found one issue, if users have ever connected to M_WEP_ENT and accepted Certificate.
    After deploying profile to the users' devices, it shows "Not Verified" in Certificate while these users try to connect the wifi with specified SSID.
    And I also install this profile with iPCU, but there is no this problem, iOS just directly to ask users for input user/password again.

  • After upgrading to Java 7 update 71 JVM doesen't allow to run signed applets

    How to reproduce:
    - delete all 32-bit Java in Control Panel
    - delete contents of c:\%USER%\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\
    - install http://java.sun.com/update/1.7.0/jinstall-7u71-windows-i586.cab
    - go to site https://www.sod.pfron.org.pl/ - URL, site contains signed aplets and SSL
    You will get
    " javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target  "
    Exception.
    On previous version of java (update 51, update 67) everythings works fine.
    But there are some differences between versions:
    java 51 contains c:\%HOME%\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\security\trusted.certs
    java 67 doesn't contains c:\%HOME%\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\security\trusted.certs but works
    java 71 doesn't contains c:\%HOME%\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\security\trusted.certs and don't work

    With Java 7u11 Oracle increased the default security level to help reduce the of recently discovered exploits getting past the security sandbox.
    That said, I seem to recall from a few years ago that any untrusted component delivered to the client might cause the entire application to be treated as untrusted (as it should), and this may be the case here.
    Although license issues may prevent you from doing this, I have found that unpacking and then repacking-and-resigning (with your own key) all 3rd party JARs can get around this, but only you can decide whether this is (a) legal and (b) advisable in the first place.

    CAN ANY ONE HELP ME PLEASE??
    THANKS & REGARDS

    Now I have done all steps again on Linux Machine as follows :-
    1) I installed the jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586 on the linux machine (Server)
    2) Compiled the TV Applet code given by SUN on this Linux machine
    successfully.
    3). On this Linux machine, in a single folder I have put the following
    files :-
    TVApplet.htm, TVApplet.class, TVApplet$ZoomButton.class,
    TVApplet$CPanel.class, TVApplet$1.class, multiplayer.jar,
    mediaplayer.jar, jmf.jar, moon.mpg
    4) Configured the Tomcat Server correctly on this Linux machine.
    5). Now when I access this applet on a client machine (window 2000
    professional) then only a blank screen appears in the Internet
    Browser window (version 6.0) and no sound hears.
    6). My "TVApplet.htm" code is :-
    <HTML>
    <BODY>
    <applet code="TVApplet" width=640 height=510 archive="jmf.jar,mediaplayer.jar,multiplayer.jar">
         <param name=file value="moon.mpg">
    </applet>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    7) On this client machine no any jmf api is installed.
    So I don't know what is wrong here. Does it require more files to run correctly ??? If yes then what are these files and where I should put these.
    Thanks

    I already install J2RE , i.e. Java Plug-in 1.3.1_04.
    Please tell me what i have to do and Java Plug-in 1.3.1_04 is still supported by java1.3 samples and codes or not.
    Thanks in advance for help.
    Thanks and Regards
    Dipsy

    Apparently the applet you're trying to run is wanting the more recent version of Java, and is asking you to install it.
    The version you have (1.3.1_04) is very old and reached End-of-Life years ago. Updating to Java 5 would probably resolve the issue.

  • New Wireless clients certificate not verified

    Whenever a new clients login using SSID Green,using cisco WLC 4404, there is a prompt saying certificate is not valid. No doubt, clients can connect once they accept the certificate. Is there anyway I can remove this prompt? We have ACS doing authentication.The certificate is signed by authorized bodies? Please advice

    I have indeed.
    Pushing the profile can happen a few ways. If you use ISE you can push a profile in auto enrollment. Whereby you create the wireless profile (SSID, Security, Add Cert). This is delivered to the user automatically during enrollment.
    Another way to make profiles and manually push is with the Apple Configurator.

    You can also use a tool like Jamf for MACs to make and push profiles.
    Hope this helps ..

  • Sign the Applet code using pfx certificate got Error?

    I use my existing certificate (.pfx) to sign my applet code as follows (without any key gen. before, directly sign by this certificate)
    jarsigner -storetype pkcs12 -keystore C:\mycert.pfx AppletCode.jar keyEntries
    Although the code can be signed, when i view this page, it prompts me "Certificate not verified" and with error:
    java.security.cert.CertificateException: Check leaf key usage failed in certificate.
    What is wrong? Any body can help me?
    * I try to geneate the self-certificate by keytool to sign my code, it can be viewed properly.

    1) Check if your .pfx certificate has the following purposes (read it using the venerable Internet Explorer):
    Ensures software came from software publisher
    Protects software from alteration after publication
    2) Put your certificate in the cacerts file
