  • Running an External Program from Batch on Windows Server 2008R2 Failing

    Hi,
    I am trying to run an external program from a batch job and it is failing with this error message:
    Ext. prog.: ERROR: Input redirection is not supported, exiting the process immediately.
    Ext. prog.: External program terminated with exit code 1
    The program I am trying to run is:  timeout
    This command works on the OS: timeout -t 30
    I have setup the step to look like this:
    Under External Program:
    -Name: timeout
    -Parameter: -t 30
    I have also tried:
    -Name: timeout -t -30
    -Parameter:
    I am running ECC 6.04 on top of Windows Server 2008R2 with SQL Server 2008R2.
    When we were running in Server 2003 on ECC 6.0 I was able to use the Sleep program just fine in the same manner.  I have found out that sleep is not available in server 2008.  It was replaced with timeout.
    After an update to EHP4 and moving to Windows Server 2008R2, Is there any pre-work that needs to be done on the SAP or Windows side before we can run external programs?
    Thank you,
    Neil

    No - this is no more true like that since Windows 2008, it's a bit more complex:

  • Running an external program from a JSP

    Can anyone help me? I have the following code which works for simple commands such as "ls ./dirname " but not for larger programs. The code works with programs such as FASTA and BLAST in standalone Java programs, but not in a JSP.
    String s = "Path of program to be run";
    Runtime rs = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process p = rs.exec(s);
    p.waitFor();
    BufferedReader stdout = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
    while((s = stdout.readLine()) != null){
       out.print(s);
    }Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Tom

    woawow: this one is really scary! starting applications from a JSP!!
    don't you have another integration option? i wonder how thread safe is this approach... you try starting a new thread for this operation ?

  • Error 1092 happened while running the executalbe file from an example code of Simulation Interface Toolkit

    With Simulation Interface Toolkit 3.0.1 and LabVIEW 8.0, I built the example code Sine Wave.vi to be an executable file. I made no modification to the code except setting Real-Time Target to be localhost in SIT Connection Manager. Everything was OK during the building process. But when I run it, error 1092 was reported. Here is the error message.
    Error 1092 occurred at Invoke Node in sit Traverse.vi->sit Traverse for References.vi->sit Find Object By Label.vi->sit Get RPS-Control-Indicator Refs.vi->sit Init Model.vi->Sine Wave.vi (Traverse Initialization Failed)
    I cannot find out any helpful information about this error code. Can anybody help me? Thanks a lot!

    To my knowledge, building an EXE out of a SIT host VI is not supported.  The SIT host VI utilizes functionality in LabVIEW that is not exposed in the LabVIEW Runtime Engine (i.e., with built EXEs and DLLs).

  • How to run the java program from another directory?

    Hi
    Assumption:
    data.java is in a package suncertify.db and place in a directory c:/code/suncertify/db/ directory
    data.class file: is in c:/code/suncertify/db/ directory
    current directory: c:/
    How can execute the data.class directly in c:/ directory without changing directory to c:/code/ ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Adrian

    Yes. You can use the -classpath and -sourcepath options to specify where to look for source files, and the -d option to specify where to generate the class files. Look up the usage of those options in the javac documentation:

  • When I call an external program from Labview, how can I embed the interface into the front panel?

    I'm running Labiew 6i for Linux. I'm using a system exec.vi to call an external program to do image manipulation (since there is no IMAQ for linux). How can I embed the user interface of the external program into the front panel of Labview?

    As far as I know, the only way to embed other GUIs in LabView is an ActiveX in a container.
    As long as you are using Linux, try to place (moving them on the desktop ) the two windows linked (like those 3 of WinAmp).

  • How can I execute an external program from within a button's event handler?

    I am using Tomcat ApacheTomcat 6.0.16 with Netbeans 6.1 (with the latest JDK/J2EE)
    I need to execute external programs from an event handler for a button on a JSF page (the program is compiled, and extremely fast compared both to plain java and especially stored procedures written in SQL).
    I tried what I'd do in a standalone program (as shown in the appended code), but it didn't work. Instead I received text saying the program couldn't be found. This error message comes even if I try the Windows command "dir". I thought with 'dir' I'd at least get the contents of the current working directory. :-(
    I can probably get by with cgi on Apache's httpd server (or, I understand tomcat supports cgi, but I have yet to get that to work either), but whatever I do I need to be able to do it from within the button's event handler. And if I resort to cgi, I must be able to maintain session jumping from one server to the other and back.
    So, then, how can I do this?
    Thanks
    Ted
    NB: The programs that I need to run do NOT take input from the user. Rather, my code in the web application processes user selections from selection controls, and a couple field controls, sanitizes the inoputs and places clean, safe data in a MySQL database, and then the external program I need to run gets safe data from the database, does some heavy duty number crunching, and puts the output data into the database. They are well insulated from mischeif.
    NB: In the following array_function_test.pl was placed in the same folder as the web application's jsp pages, (and I'd tried WEB-INF - with the same result), and I DID see the file in the application's war file.
            try {
                java.lang.ProcessBuilder pn = new java.lang.ProcessBuilder("array_function_test.pl");
                //pn.directory(new java.io.File("K:\\work"));
                java.lang.Process pr = pn.start();
                java.io.BufferedInputStream bis = (java.io.BufferedInputStream)pr.getInputStream();
                String tmp = new String("");
                byte b[] = new byte[1000];
                int i = 0;
                while (i != -1) {
                    bis.read(b);
                    tmp += new String(b);
                getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().setText(getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().getText() + "\n\n" + tmp);
            } catch (java.io.IOException ex) {
                getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().setText(getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().getText() + "\n\n" + ex.getMessage());
            }

    Hi Fonsi!
    One way to execute an external program is to use the System Exec.vi. You find it in the functions pallet under Communication.

    Exitcode 2, if returned from the OS, means "No such file or directory". Note that as of SAP kernel release 7, you usually do not have DB6CLP any more. Can you check if the executable is available in the SAP exe directory ?
    If running SAÜ kernel 700 or higher, I suggest to apply a recent SP level.
