Hi,
I'm not a 'heavy' novell user. I do the lower level things. But
here's my problem that I can't for the life of me figure out.
Our workstation registration process runs on login. It will remove the
workstation every 40 days. It is a large manufacturing fascility.
Many of the tools don't allow the workstations to log out and back in
within that time frame.
I'm trying to figure out a way to 'schedule' the zwsreg.exe to run as a
normal user in the background and unregister if it's registered, then
register the workstation so we can remote connect to them without
running into workstations that have become 'unregistered'. I can run
the zwsreg from the command line easy enough. But it seems there are
problems with either mapping or file rights when i try to put it in a
batch file or run it right as an app object. Has anyone ran into this
situation before and found a solution?
I'd have no problem I guess using the workstation scheduler, but that
doesn't have rights when a user is logged in to register :(

Do you have these shop floor workstations under a separate workstation
policy? You could add a "Scheduled Action Policy" for those workstations
with zwsreg as the action, and schedule it to run, say weekly.
Or you could just move those workstations into a different container that
the workstation removal policy doesn't specify... that way the won't be
removed every 40 days... or ever.

In Short, If you chain apps, when you launch one it will ensure all of the
others are installed as well.
Example - You might have a bunch of apps that point to spreadsheet files and
you may link/chain those to an Office Bundle so that if Office is not
installed, it will instll office and then open the spreadsheet.
Or you may have an application that requires .NET and JAVA. Chain your apps
to your .NET and JAVA installs and when you install your app that requires
the others, it will install those as well.

Key.getCode() problems on PC and published .exe, .swf and .app

Hi!
I have a kind of unusual problem... Im building a prototype for a UI wich you can navigate around in. And we use a mockup-prototype-model with a numeric keyboard built in and connected trough USB to fetch keypresses and use that as a joystick to navigate around and get a feeling how it would feel like to navigate around using a joystick in your hands.
The problem is that it sends kind of unusual keypresses from the joystick.
Everything works fine when I test the movie in Flash CS5 on a mac (cmd + enter). But not on a PC or in all of the published modes (.exe, .swf or .app).
The codes I use in my if statements to navigate that doesnt work is:
Key.getCode() == 188, Key.getCode() == 74 and Key.getCode() == 54
Today I use a double setup of keys so that I can use my keyboard on the computer as a backup to navigate around. And those keypresses works fine without problems. It is just those three (188, 74 and 54) that doesnt work.

Think ive solved it!
It seems like the PC recieves different signals from the input device in published mode then on the mac... so I had to trace them out in debugmode one by one and got different signals. So now it works!

Changing App Objects in bulk?

Hi,
I have a need to do a couple operations on all of our ZENworks 4
application objects.
I need to rename the object name as well as add an environment variable to
the Availability attribute.
Does anyone know of a utility that will allow me to do this across our
800+ app objects?
I'm guessing for the renames I could probably get a one of the older "Cool
Solutions" commandline utils to get a text file export list of all the AOs
and then run that through a script with a util to rename.
I would think I'm not the only person who has had need of something like
this though and hopefully there is something out there to make it a little
easier.

It may be shameless, but I've used the tool to updated 1000s of apps at
once.
It was the only solution I found that came with sanity.

Error: Component failed to run due to a Object Package scheduling failure

BusinessObjects XI R2 SP 5, FP 5.1
I am trying to schedule a group of reports (crystal reports) via a package where the output destination is to an email. At the event of execution of the scheduled time for the package; the package fails with the error: Component failed to run due to a Object Package scheduling failure. (Note: When scheduled individually it is successful and it was copied to the package from its original location, so there is no mistake in parameters or ODBC connections)
When we go to the history and within the instance, we see that some of the reports have the status as success and some are failed with the same error message. Even though some of the reports are made to fail at the event of 'NO DATA'; what I do not understand is that how come some of the other reports (which contains data and which works when trying to run manually or scheduled individually) are failing.
I would understand something is wrong when the entire package fails which is not the case here as say of 50 reports, 5 are successful and the rest fails with the same error.

A Power Mac is incapable of being upgraded to Mavericks. It is a PPC Mac which can only run versions of OS X up to 10.5.8 and no higher. Any version of OS X higher that 10.5.8 requires an Intel processor to run.
Does the iMac meet the hardware requirements for Mavericks?

Distributing ZfD app objects

Pardon the stupidity here.
I'm just trying to get the thing working in a test lab without the
benefit of any training (so I'm relying 100% on the manuals--eesh).
anyway, I think I installed the stuff correctly and am making a test
distribution.
I created an app object (ZENworks) that's an MSI-based app with a
transform.
It has a macro in it (SOURCE_PATH). I don't know if this is still
needed if using TED or not (right now, we manually duplicate the objects
and then edit just the source path info so we don't have to mess with
the Sources and MSI-> Transorms, etc.)
Step 7d and 7e (page 296 of the PDF) for TED have me a little confused.
Do I WANT to keep the same source path? I'd guess not since they are on
diff. servers.
For the destination volume, it defaults to: %DEST_VOLUME% But I'm not
sure where to define this. The 73 steps say it's on the "dest.
subcriber server's properties), but the NCP server object doesn't have
this field anywhere. The SUBSCRIBER SERVER object has what appears to
be two spots:
General -> Working directory

This will answer part of your question.
Change the Destination Volume to %APPS_PATH%
and change the User Defined directory path to where the app should be
stored ie zfdapps (directory only no volume name)
then in your subscriber object, go to the variables tab, select add and for
the variable field type APPS_PATH and for the value enter the volume name

LCM tool generates error "There is no VMS app object present in CMS"

Hello,
I have an issue with the new LCM tool with XI 3.1.
I am able to logon successfully to the Version Management application as I am an administrator but my colleagues are not. At first I thought this was a security issue but my colleagues have all rights assigned for the LCM application. Initially the users are able to login, and the issue happens only after Version Management is selected from the drop down box. The full text of the error is:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: There is no VMS app object present in CMS.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hello Jason,
I'm assuming you gave your other users rights to the LCM in CMC->Applications.
I don't see the VMS (it holds information concerning Subversion and how the LCM connects to it) there, to affect rights over that application. Administrators appear to have access rights.
I'd recommend opening a SAP Incident to get clarification concerning rights to the VMS.

Grant SELECT on all APPS objects to Custom schema

My requirement is to GRANT SELECT privileges on all Objects from APPS schema to a custom schema say XXTEST.
I am OK, if there are multiple privileges to be granted (i.e. separate ones for TABLES,SYNONYMS,PACKAGES).
I basically want to refer all APPS objects from XXTEST, without any schema prefix.
I read about GRANT SELECT ANY TABLE, and it looks like I can access any schema objects from it.
But I would like to know if I can grant from a particular schema alone.

App Object MSI's receive error on install

I am trying to make use of addon imaging to streamline our imaging
process. So far I've gotten the base and addons working except for one
hangup; MSI's don't like to install when not logged into NDS.
This is how the process goes:
1. Machine boots and pulls down base image and all addons (using
scripted imaging)
2. Machine reboots and performs the usual sysprep steps
3. Windows auto logs in as admin, ziswin is not run at this time to
prevent conflict
4. Windows launches a batch file I set as the 'run once' app in the
registry which erases my auto admin login settings and launches
nalwin32
5. The nal then installs each application one by one from the cache,
but here is where the issue surfaces... if it is an MSI, after the
install is complete I get the following error:
Could not get needed resources for application [object_name] to be
launched (id=-337).
Problem: Unable to connect to server [Server_Name]
If I click OK on the error to dismiss it the following installs
continue as normal (except if their MSI's they get their own error like
above). The applications that receive this error are fully installed
and work... so in reality its a worthless error that stops all progress
until you click OK.

I've created an ZFD 6.5 AOT App Object that removes a miscopied folder
and subdirectories from All Users/Start Menu/Programs. The files have all
been removed but the directory structure still exists. The directories
are targeted to be removed but it is not happening. Any ideas? Thanks.

The problem is being reported in the news media, yes. Apparently someone at Apple jumped the gun and uploaded the update before it was ready. They'll probably issue another update shortly, I would expect, but you can go here:

and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store. If you have a backup copy of the older version of the app, remove the newer version, restore the old version to iTunes on your computer, and resync.
Update: Well, that was certainly quick. As of a short time ago, various sites are reporting that the Find My iPhone app is no longer displaying the previous error message. If it still is for you, delete it from your iPhone and re-download from the iTunes Store.

Just tried to install a new app and was told that I needed to "Agree to new Terms & Conditions". When I hit OK, it brings me to a blank screen, so I can't accept them. What am I supposed to do?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
