Runtime can't be found when calling function in DLL

Hi
I compiled VIs in LabVIEW 6.0i to be DLL file and used it in VB. I used it smoothly until I installed LabVIEW 6.1. When I run my VB application which called that DLL, I got error that is "DDT_Cmd requires a version 6.0 (or compatible) LabVIEW Run-Time Engine." How can I solve this problem?

Yes, you can have many different versions of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine installed at once. We average 3 - 4 concurrent versions of LabVIEW on our machines for support.

• Error BT616 when calling function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE in background

Hi All,
We use function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE with a custom command we defined in SM69 to move files in unix (mv command).
The function module call has worked fine for almost a year and recently we have been seeing an error (BT616) in our job lob (SM37) when the program is run in background. We have not been able to reproduce the error in foreground mode and it seems to be occuring only periodically in the background. (The appropriate SAP authorization objects where assigned to the batch job ID and the steps on the batch job.) We are in the process of setting up the trace flag and performing analysis on the trace log via ST11 to help identify the issue.
After perform analysis on SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE, the error is occurring when calling function module SAPXPG_END_XPG for exception 2, system failure, yet function module SAPXPG_END_XPG does not exist. I assume this is a program at the operating system level and is just a signature of the parameters to be passed to the operating system program.
Below is part of the SAP function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE that is failing.
* Now we have to wait for the termination of the external
* command if the caller wants us to.
        IF TERMINATIONWAIT = 'X'.
          CALL FUNCTION 'SAPXPG_END_XPG'
            DESTINATION DESTINATION
            IMPORTING   EXITSTAT = STATUS
                        EXITCODE = EXITCODE
            TABLES      LOG      = LOG
            EXCEPTIONS  COMMUNICATION_FAILURE = 1 MESSAGE MSG
                        SYSTEM_FAILURE        = 2 MESSAGE MSG.
I performed a where used on function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE, and most of SAP programs call the function module with the parameter TERMINATIONWAIT = 'X', so I assume we should pass ‘X’ as well.
Any ideas on what could be causing this issue?
Mike Vondran

I also remember I have this kind of issue, as I have some UNIX script at OS( UNIX) level . The problem was with the ID , as it don’t have proper authorization at OS level ( UNIX ) . Please check this ID authorization. This could be the one of reasons if you’re sure from SAP standpoint.
Hope this’ll give you some guide line..
Thanks
Bye

• ABAP Dump when calling Function Module Starting New Task

Hi all. I have a tricky situation now, I am doing a POC on parallel processing.
I am getting an ABAP dump on the following Call Function line which is in class lcl_steer_114numc (See below for full program):
METHOD start.
        CALL FUNCTION 'Z_ZZCLS_STEER_114NUMC'
          STARTING NEW TASK me->id
          CALLING me->finish ON END OF TASK.
      ENDMETHOD.                    "start
However I get the following ABAP dump:
Short text
        Statement "CALL FUNCTION .. DESTINATION/STARTING NEW TASK/IN BACKGROUND TASK"
The function module only contains a wait statement to simulate parallel processing. It is strange that it dumps here, because when I change the FM call to another call that has been triggered successfully from other classes, it still produces the same ABAP dump.
The background of the Proof Of Concept is to see if I can get an event to trigger the next process that depends on the outcome of the previous process. Parallel processes are run in the start methods by calling RFC.

Well, the thing is I did manage to run 3 other Function Modules asynchronously succeesfully prior to that function call, with the same exact function call syntax. Further more, I have tried editing it with your suggestion but I get the exact same dump.
The complete function group can be downloaded here (slinkee file):

Basically I ST22 gives me the following:
Runtime Errors         RPERF_ILLEGAL_STATEMENT

    The program was probably called in a conversion exit

    In this connection, the following ABAP/4 statements are not allowed:

I hope you try to download the slinkee files and you will notice the call function I performed was no different than the other call function RFC calls that really are working.

• How to fill data when call function of sap standard script form?

Hi every experts,
<Priority Normalized>
In our system, when we log in 'FR', we can print purchase order in language Franch,in t_code:ME22N.  And when logging in 'EN', we can print it in language English, in ME22N. The English form is just only translated from Franch, with all same structure and frame.  The form is done by script form.
And when logging in 'ZH', we create a new program, calling function smartform, instead of translating from EN language. Because of different structure and frame, I don't know the way to write script, so  I print puchase order by smartform, when logging in 'ZH'.
But I have a new issue. Our MM module consultant needs me to print Chinese form if one condition, print English form in other condition.
So I have no idea to solve it. Because in my program, I get data to fill smartform and call function of smartform. And I don't know how to get data to fill script form. I only know the function name, 'OPEN_FORM' 'WRITE_FORM' 'CLOSE_FORM'.....
If I only call the several functions, I will get only frame without no data. So who can tell me how to do????

Hi,
Normally if we look in NACE transaction, you can see that upto five different FORMS can be assigned to a single output type . i.e. for each form there will be a seperate routine through which it gets called. But it all start from the first form only.
so you need to write your code in the ENTRY of the first form and if it does not satisfy do not go for processing of it but just exit of that form ENTRY. so that it will take you to next form.
hope this helps.
Thanks,

• Computer name in R3 when call function RFC from CRM to R3

Hi all,
i nead the computer name in R3 when I  come to R3 from  CRM .
In R3  i call function 'TERMINAL_ID_GET'  in R3   but I don't retrieve the computer name.
i tried also to  call function 'TERMINAL_ID_GET'  in destination 'CRM'   but I don't retrieve the computer name.
The code in R3:
CALL FUNCTION 'TERMINAL_ID_GET' DESTINATION 'R3GETCRM'
          EXPORTING
            username             = sy-uname
          IMPORTING
            terminal             = l_terminal_usr41
          EXCEPTIONS
            multiple_terminal_id = 1
            no_terminal_found    = 2
            OTHERS               = 3.
This function works ok when i call her direct from R3 or direct from CRM,
but not give me in R3 the computer name when i came to R3 From CRM.
Thanks for your cooperation.
dany

thats because 'TERMINAL_ID_GET'  is not a RFC (check the attributes tab of the FM from SE37)
if you dont find a RFC to do t his you can wrap this FM with a custom RFC and use it.
if you want all the logged on users info (computer name and other info) then you can use THUSRINFO FM which a RFC

• How can i avoid a pop-up window when calling the avi.dll?

Ok, here another try!
My problem is as followed:
My program calls the avi.dll to initialize, write into and close an
avi-file.
Now, when initializing it, a pop-up window is shown so you can choose the
codec to use.
My question is, can I pre-define the codec, so the pop-up window won't show
up?
The program is meant to write several files, some starting without the user
having to control them, so the pop-up window really isn't helping.
Any ideas?
I attached the avi.dll in case you need it to look at the problem.
Also helpful would be, if someone could tell me, how I can take a closer
look at the structure of the dll. Is there a program I can do that with?
Thanx!
regar
ds,
Martin

Hello Martin,
I have used this DLL before and wasn't asked to choose a codec. Maybe if you use all three functions (init, write, close), it works without problems. Here's a example that uses IMAQ hardware to acquire an 8-bit image at 30fps and writes each image to an avi file.
There are utilities to examine dlls (see what functions are exported and what the dependencies are, but you can't see source code since it is compiles.) Check out QuickView or DependencyWalker.

When I call a function module, it gives a runtime error like this:
Runtime error CALL_FUNCTION_CONFLICT_TYPE
Except. CX_SY_DYN_CALL_ILLEGAL_TYPE
The problem is that I'm using something like below:
call function zzz
exporting
            xxx             = yyy
with:
xxx type char50
yyy type char2
Is there a possibility to transform my char2 into a char50?
By doing this, I would be able to use the function module.
Thanks

hi,
do one thing just make the type and size of both the importing and exporting parameter same...
example:-
data: a(10) type c.   (importing)
data: b(10) type c.       (exporting)
i think this will help u

• No function parameter information when calling Borland C++ DLL

I have a DLL that I've created in Borland C++ 5.5 with the following code:
extern "C"
        void __declspec(dllexport) __stdcall myfun(int * a){*a = - *a; }
Now when I add this DLL using the C/C++ adapter to my sequence and call myfun(), I get the following message: "This function does not have parameter information in the DLL or uses types not recognized by TestStand."
I have also tried creating a similar DLL in MS VC++ but it worked fine. Unfortunately, I have to use Borland C++ because of some legacy code. I don't really know too much about the specifics of how MS VC++ creates DLLs vs Borland but I'd like to figure out how to create a DLL in Borland so that I don't get the error message anymore.

TestStand gets prototype info from visual studio dlls from the decorated name in the export table. extern "C" however generates an export without the C++ decorated name prototype information. So I'd recommend removing the 'extern "C"' and see if it works. If Borland generates visual C++ compatible decorated names then it should work.
Additionally, or if that does not work. You can create a type library in your dll that teststand can use to get the prototype information, however that would be more work and I'm not sure exactly how to do that with Borland C++.

• When Syncing, got error msg "iphone4 can not be synced as the required file can not be found", When Syncing, got error msg "iphone4 can not be synced as the required file can not be found"

i've upgraded to IOS5 and also my iMac to latest iTunes.
i now found Itunes frequently issued a error during syncing "iphone4 can not be synced as the required file can not be found".   i have connected the iphone4 to my iMac using USB (i.e., wired).   but without doing any thing further, i go to iTunes and just hit the button to "SYNC" the iphone4 again, it will work.
so, why am i getting that error usually first time around when i connect the iphone?

Hi folks. Am REALLY struggling here and hoping for some help. I too am constantly getting the 'iPhone can not be synced' message since upgrading to a new MacBook and trying to sync my iPhone 3GS. Have tried updating to latest iPhone software and hasn't helped. Have tried all the stuff mentioned above (dumping that file etc) and no luck. When I go to my sync page for photos, even if i un-tick the sync photos option altogether, this error keeps appearing. Very odd and very frustrating. Can't sync - seems to stall at last step of the process every time.
I'm guessing it is photo related as the pics on my iPhone are now all lowres and blurry, and it is asking for sync to iTunes to get high res images onto the phone.
Also have problem going the 'other way'! WHen I go to iPhoto on Mac and try to download new photos taken on iPhone.. I keep getting the message 'The following file could not be imported. The file is an unrecognized format."
help please

• Problem when calling function module CV120_DOC_CHECKOUT_VIEW in background

Hi ,
I'm currently developping an abap program which extract document from KPRO for printing into a windows Folder.
For this I use standard function module CV120_DOC_CHECKOUT_VIEW.
When i run my program in foreground task there's no problem, but when i run it in background task the extract doesn't work. It seems that the system cannot connect to the Windows Network.
Whe the program is running in foreground task, the function module user SAPHHTP RFC destination, when it runs in background task it use SAPFTP destination .
Does somebody can help me ?
thanks in advance

Hi Ajay,
The program extract document into a folder on Windows Network that means on a server not on a PC .
I know that in background task ther's no connection with sapgui.
For example when i want to create a file on network n background task i use OPEN_DATASET instruction and that works fine.
My problem is the use of the standard function module CV120_DOC_CHECKOUT_VIEW in background task because when this function module is running in background task it use the SAPFTP rfc destination instead of SAPHHTP rfc destination in foreground task . I check the RFC destination , thoses works both . SO i think the problem comes from parameters given to the function module.
Regards.

• My ipod touch can't be found when I run a diagnostic test, on 3 different computers!

I have a 64GB 4th generation iPod touch for about a year and half now, but suddenly when I plug it into my computer, it will begin charging but it won't show up in devices under itunes. When I ran a diagnostic test, it says my ipod can't be found. I ran a diagnostic test on 3 different computers that have the latest verison of itunes installed, once on a laptop and twice on a desktop computer and it still can't be found. I've reinstalled itunes and all of it's components and also restarted my ipod. I finally erased all the data off my ipod and set it up as a new ipod (because I can't use it if I set it up as backup) and deleted any recent music I downloaded and it still can't be found. If anyone could help me, please let me know right away or I'll be selling the ipod and buying a new one.

I am not sure what is happening, but I may know how to fix it.
Plug it into a computer, press and hold the lock and home buttons, and the ipod will turn off. When the apple logo appears, let go of the lock button but keep holding the home button until iTunes says it has detected an ipod in recovery mode.

• CVI crashes when calling function from external DLL

I'm calling a CVI library from Test Stand 4.1.  In that CVI library I load an external DLL (using LoadLibrary) and create a few function pointers (using GetProcAddress).  The DLL loads successfully, and I get addresses for all of the imported functions.
However, when I one of the functions is called CVI crashes (Test Stand says it lost the ActiveX connection to CVI) when executing in an external CVI instance.  If executed in the Test Stand process I get a system level exception.
If I step through the code in CVI, it hangs after trying to step into or over the call to the function pointer from the external DLL.
I am able to call the functions in a small test project I created in CVI, however when integrating it into an existing test library and calling it through Test Stand it fails.
Any ideas on how to go about debugging this issue?

Have you tried calling into the dll that CVI calls directly from TestStand?  I am curious to know if this also crashes.
I am also curious to know if there are any path references in the dll that is called by the CVI program.  If so are they relative, or absolute paths?
I ask because one of the possibilities is that relative paths are being used to specify a path from the location of the code that is called, and they are not working because the current working directory is being specified by TestStand, and the paths are not relative to the working directory given by TestStand.
