Runtime error for SELECT statement

Hi All,
I have written a SELECT statement as follows in my code.
select budat pernr aufnr vornr from AFRU
into corresponding fields of table it_vornr
for all entries in it_cats_tmp
where budat = it_cats_tmp-workdate
and pernr = it_cats_tmp-pernr
and aufnr = it_cats_tmp-rnplnr.
The table IT-CATS_TMP is having around 3000+ lines.
When control moves to this statement, the system is throwing Runtime error or its taking around 30 minutes time to execute.
If i query the same table (AFRU) in SE11 for the same set of conditions, the table displays relevent data immediately.
What might be the reason for this delay/Runtime Error?
Shall i need to change the syntax for better performance?
Your guidelines are highly appreciated......
Regards
Pavan

Hi
1. Try to put WHERE conditions for KEY FIELDS.
Solution: Create a RANGE for the key fields & put that in SELECT Query.
DATA: gr_rueck TYPE RANGES OF afru-rueck.
SELECT .. WHERE rueck IN gr_rueck.
2. Avoid using CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE in SELECT.
Solution: Change internal table fields ORDER.
TYPES:
BEGIN OF TY_VORNR,
  budat TYPE ..
  pernr TYPE ..
  aufnr TYPE ..
  vornr TYPE ..
  ... " Other fields
END OF TY_VORNR.
SELECT .. INTO TABLE IT_VORNR ...

  • Runtime error at select statement in RFC_READ TABLE FM

    Dear All,
       I have copied the standard FM RFC_READ_TABLE to incorporate the customer needs. Below is the select query which I have written in this FM.
    SELECT (po_search_text-column_text) INTO <wa> FROM ekko
          INNER JOIN ekpo ON ekko~ebeln = ekpo~ebeln
          INNER JOIN eket ON ekpo~ebeln = eket~ebeln AND ekpo~ebelp = eket~ebelp
          INNER JOIN lfa1 ON ekko~lifnr = lfa1~lifnr
          INNER JOIN lfm1 ON ekko~lifnr = lfm1~lifnr AND ekko~ekorg = lfm1~ekorg
          INNER JOIN lfb1 ON ekko~lifnr = lfb1~lifnr AND ekko~bukrs = lfb1~bukrs
          INNER JOIN t024 ON ekko~ekgrp = t024~ekgrp
          INNER JOIN zatscsng_status ON eket~ebeln = zatscsng_status~po_number
          AND   eket~ebelp = zatscsng_status~po_line
          AND   eket~etenr = zatscsng_status~po_sched_line
          INNER JOIN adrc ON zatscsng_status~delivery_addr = adrc~addrnumber
          WHERE (po_search_text-cond_text)
          ORDER BY (po_search_text-sort_text).
    Here, posearch_text-column_text_ will have the fields to be selected at runtime and posearch_text-cond_text_ is the where condition. It is running fine in this case.
    But when I try to select Item Category ( EKPO-PSTYP), if data is present for this category, it is returning the values but if data is not there for the particular item category in the where clause, it is giving a RUNTIME ERROR at the select statement.
    Here is the ERROR ANALYSIS:
    An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
    The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_DYNAMIC_OSQL_SEMANTICS', was
      not caught in
    procedure "ZATSCSNG_RFC_READ_TABLE" "(FUNCTION)", nor was it propagated by a
      RAISING clause.
    Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
    exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
    The reason for the exception is:
    The current ABAP program has tried to execute an Open SQL statement
    which contains a WHERE, ON or HAVING condition with a dynamic part.
    The part of the WHERE, ON or HAVING condition specified at runtime in
    a field or an internal table, contains the invalid value "<L_LINE>-PSTYP".
    Edited by: Rob Burbank on Mar 17, 2010 5:09 PM

    Now that's what I call a join statement...
    You probably have a bug in how you build po_search_text-cond_text, the content must be a syntactically correct where clause. It seems that in your example there is just "<L_LINE>-PSTYP" without a condition, so try omitting it altogether.
    Debug the content of po_search_text-cond_text before it hits the select statement.

    Hi All,
    We've checked the transaction ST22 it is TIME OUT. I really need your help on this the program will dump in number 1 Select statement. Can you help me perform a performance tunning.
    In transaction ST22
    Runtime Errors         TIME_OUT
    Date and Time          21.10.2009 08:51:33
    Short text
         Time limit exceeded.
    What happened?
         The program "ZV0PSR10" has exceeded the maximum permitted runtime without
         interruption and has therefore been terminated.
    What can you do?
         Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
         To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
         administrator.
         Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
         at and manage termination messages, and you can also
         keep them for a long time.
    Error analysis
         After a specific time, the program is terminated to make the work area
         available to other users who may be waiting.
         This is to prevent a work area being blocked unnecessarily long by, for
         example:
         - Endless loops (DO, WHILE, ...),
         - Database accesses with a large result set
         - Database accesses without a suitable index (full table scan)
         The maximum runtime of a program is limited by the system profile
         parameter "rdisp/max_wprun_time". The current setting is 1200 seconds. If this
          time limit is
         exceeded, the system attempts to cancel any running SQL statement or
         signals the ABAP processor to stop the running program. Then the system
         waits another 60 seconds maximum. If the program is then still active,
         the work process is restarted.

  • Why does plsql give compilation error for select statement?

    When I run following plsql program, it gives compilation error. Could somebody please point me out what could be wrong here? I am running it from system user.
    create or replace procedure drop_user_proc (iname in varchar2) is
    uname varchar2(100);
    begin
    select username into uname from dba_users where username = upper(iname);
    end drop_user_proc;
    select username from dba_users where username = upper('newuser');
    When I run it, I get following error. dba_users is there that is the reason it works outside plsql block, but it doesn't from inside block.
    SQL> @t4

    Role based grants are not available within the stored procedures.
    Only explicit grants are recognized when compiling stored code.

  • Runtime error in SELECT statement

    While defining a structure for join in my program it has two fields both date of type erdat one from table vbak and other from custom table. If i use data element erdat to define two dates as date1 type erdat, date2 type erdat its giving a dump, but if i define it as date1 type vbak-erdat and date2 type ztable-erdat its working fine. I would like to know the reason behind.

    Hi,
    check the data declarations of both VBAK-ERDAT and ZTABLE-ERDAT. My best guess is that there is a difference in format (length, type).

  • 'Missing select' error for update statement using WITH clause

    Hi,
    I am getting the below error for update statement using WITH clause
    SQL Error: ORA-00928: missing SELECT keyword
      UPDATE A
      set A.col1 = 'val1'
         where
      A.col2 IN (
      WITH D AS
      SELECT col2 FROM
      (SELECT col2, MIN(datecol) col3 FROM DS
      WHERE <conditions>
        GROUP BY PATIENT) D2
      WHERE
      <conditions on A.col4 and D2.col3>

    Hi,
    The format of a query using WITH is:
    WITH  d  AS
        SELECT  ...  -- sub_query
    SELECT  ...   -- main query
    You don't have a main query.  The keyword FROM has to come immediately after the right ')' that ends the last WITH clause sub-query.
    That explains the problem based on what you posted.  I can't tell if the real problem is in the conditions that you didn't post.
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a complete test script that people can run to re-create the problem and test their ideas.  Include a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
    In the case of a DML operation (such as UPDATE) the sample data should show what the tables are like before the DML, and the results will be the contents of the changed table(s) after the DML.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Always say what version of Oracle you're using (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).

  • When will Reader 9's Runtime error for redirected Application Data be fixed??

    Has anyone heard when Adobe will fix Reader 9's Runtime error for redirected Application Data??  It's still happening with 9.1.3 for only users who have their Application Data folder redirected via Group Policy.
    It's been going on for some time, as evidenced by the following link, and my own personal pain fighting this
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/391738?start=100&tstart=0

    Also posted here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/391738
    I haven't read through all of the posts, but the general consensus I have is that the issue is in fact related to the redir
    ection of the Application Data folder. The main issue being that the use of a UNC path causes the error described, with some mention to explicit user permissions on the root of the folder path.
    I was just recently made aware of this issue in our environment. Apparently we've held off upgrading to Adobe 9.x because of this issue. After a little research, it was apparent that simply modifying the default Folder Redirection policies is not possible because the use of a mapped drive is not supported.
    I haven't had a chance to test this yet, and may not be able to for some time, so I thought I would share this in case someone else might be able to test. The idea being to simply use a custom ADM file to force the redirection of certain profile folders. Again, I haven't tested this using a mapped drive in the path, but I have successfully used the same settings below to redirect other folders not available by default in Group Policy.
    1) Copy the text between ----- Start of ADM ------ and ----- End of ADM ------ and paste it into a text file.
    2) Rename the .txt to .adm.
    3) Load the ADM template into a GPO.
    4) Right click "USER Custom Settings", select "View", select "Filtering" and uncheck the option "Only show policy settings that can be fully managed".
    5) Configure the "Redirect Application Data" option as enabled, and enter a mapped drive path.
    6) Test.
    I'm interested to hear if this is a viable solution or not.

  • ABAP runtime error for 0CRM_OPPT_H and I while running RSA3

    hello Gurus,
         I'm having problems while running RSA3 transaction for these data sources.
    0CRM_OPPT_H
    0CRM_OPPT_I
    0CRM_SALES_ACT_1
    0CRM_SALES_ACT_I.
    I'm getting ABAP runtime error for these.
    This is the error:
    Runtime Error          CALL_FUNCTION_CONFLICT_TAB_TYP
    Exception              CX_SY_DYN_CALL_ILLEGAL_TYPE
    I tried finding OSS notes for these, but I didn’t succeed.
    I activated the data source from RSA5, and then I tried RSA3. That time I got “Errors occurred during extraction”.
    After that I activated delta at BWA5, then I started getting runtime error.
    Even though I activated at BWA5, I am not able to see the data sources at BWA7.
    Am I missing any thing…please guide me through this….
    Thanks

    Thanks for your replay... All the DS and related tables are active..
    But wen I tried to re-generate the DS again... this is the warning I'm getting... Any idea why I'm getting this....
    The even-numbered length of the DEC field SAMPLE_QTY_ALLOW can lead to problems
    <b>Message no. R8569</b>
    <b>Diagnosis</b>
    You want to use the field SAMPLE_QTY_ALLOW in the extract structure for DataSource 0CRM_OPPT_I. This field has a field of type 'DEC' (or 'CURR' or 'QUAN') with an even number of characters.
    This can create problems since the length resulting from calculations in ABAP (for example, in extractors or Customer Exits for extraction) is too large to be inserted in the database later (PSA in BW), causing a short dump.
    <b>Procedure</b>
    This warning is only relevant when the maximum length of this field is exceeded during extraction, for example when the field is expanded in the Customer Exit through a calculation.
    More information and a remedy can be found in SAP Note 641744.
    When I search the OSS note, SAP suggesting to apply 883310 note.
    In my company we are using CRM 4.0 servie pak8. SAP suggsting to install service pak 11, but my client is not interested to upgrade to 11 as CRM people are working on service pak 8.
    By any chance we can use specific note which change the ABAP code to solve this problem... Please give me some suggetions...

  • Regarding error in select statement

    Hello CRM Gurus,
    i have 2 questions to ask from you all:-
    1. i am getting a problem of overlapping of values fetched by select statement.. so any idea what shall i do?
    2. practically when we use for all entries in select statement if possible explain through a buisness scenario?
    anhiyta ..

    HI Anhitya,
    1. for select statement are you using both the select statement in 1 loop or in 1 condition?
    2. we use for all entries when we require to compare on basis of all the entries present in a table
    for example if u have to fetch address of a bp partner then u wiill select bp from but000 into itab
    and den u will write select addr from  butadr for all entries in itab.
    i hope this may help

  • Timesten create a lock for select statement through sqldev

    When use ttisql connect to TimesTen Release 7.0.6.15.0 at autocommit=1, there is no lock for select statement.
    but when I use sql developer (driver is ttjdbc5.jar, regardless of version) to connect, even with autocommit=1, there will be locks for select statement.
    Is it a bug? How can I achieve the same no locks for select statement through sql developer?Thanks.

    -your update tells me that you are connected to a remote timesten data store using the client driver
    -the ttXactAdmin output indicates that SqlNavigator has a shared lock on the database itself: this will not interfere with anybody else' read operations, and I believe that until such time as you actually attempt some kind of DML against the data store that th IX lock on the database lock will not interfere with any other DML either.
    -a shared database lock will always be acquired for any transaction in TimesTen. You can test this for yourself from ttisql: set autocommit off, perform a simple update and do not commit the transaction. Then open a separate session and execute ttxactadmin - you will the IX database lock as well as the various locks on tables and indexes.
    -I believe this pretty much proves my original thinking: that sqlDeveloper attaches to TimesTen in transaction mode. However, the IX lock on the database will not interfere with anybody else's work and should not be a problem.

    Actuallly here the problem with the class becuase the class  cl_class_position_op_trs itself has error.
    In the class , in the local classes they are calling again the class cl_class_position_op_trs. becasue of this reason it was going to run time error.
    So we are getting the run time error.
    We have OSS note for the same problem.But i am unable to implement that.
    Please guide me how to implement the OSS note 751947.(Note 751947 - TRS: Syntax error due to ABAP Compiler)
    please find the error details:
    Runtime Errors         SYNTAX_ERROR
           Occurred on     03/12/2008 at 00:26:57
    Syntax error in program "CL_CLASS_POSITION_OP_TRS======CP ".
    What happened?
    The following syntax error occurred in the program
    CL_CLASS_POSITION_OP_TRS======CP :
    "Components of classes declared using "CLASS CL_CLASS_POSITION_OP_TRS D"
    Error in ABAP application program.
    The current ABAP program "CL_CLASS_POSITION_TRS=========CP" had to be
    terminated because one of the
    statements could not be executed.
    This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
    What can you do?
    Please eliminate the error by performing a syntax check
    (or an extended program check) on the program "CL_CLASS_POSITION_OP_TRS======CP
    You can also perform the syntax check from the ABAP/4 Editor.
    If the problem persists, proceed as follows:
    Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
    and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
    error.
    To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
    You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
    termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion date.
    Error analysis
    The following syntax error was found in the program
    CL_CLASS_POSITION_OP_TRS======CP :
    "Components of classes declared using "CLASS CL_CLASS_POSITION_OP_TRS D"
    Regards.

    Did you go through the steps in the note?
    Use transaction SE24 to distribute the local classes into new include structures as follows:
    Call transaction SE24 for the class CL_CLASS_POSITION_OP_TRS.
    Select the following menu option:
    Goto --> Class-local types --> Local Class Definitions/Types
    Confirm the message that proposes conversion into the new structures.
    Choose Utilities --> Regenerate sections from the menu.
    Activate the class and all changed objects.
    Try and do this, and see what happens.
    Good luck.

  • Runtime error for ui element multipane

    hello.
    i have a question.
    i implemented uielement multipane example in wda.
    it worked very well in only first trying, but it occured a runtime error -that is Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.- from second trying.
    context -
    hd                               <node>
    attribute1            <hd of attribute>
    attribute2            <hd of attribute>
    item                    <hd of subnode>
    attribute1 <item of attribute>
    attribute2 <item of attribute>
    below is source.
    ==========================================================
      DATA: node_hd        type ref to if_wd_context_node,
                 node_item     type ref to if_wd_context_node,
                 itab_hd        type wd_this->elements_hd,
                 stru_hd        type wd_this->element_hd,
                 itab_item      type wd_this->elements_item,
                 rt_auart type ref to data,
                 rt_vbeln type ref to data.
      field-symbols: <fs_auart> type table,
                           <fs_vbeln> type table.
    retrieve the data from the select option
      rt_auart = wd_this->m_handler->get_range_table_of_sel_field( i_id = 'AUART' ).
    assign it to a field symbol
      assign rt_auart->* to <fs_auart>.
    retrieve the data from the select option
      rt_vbeln = wd_this->m_handler->get_range_table_of_sel_field( i_id = 'VBELN' ).
    assign it to a field symbol
      assign rt_vbeln->* to <fs_vbeln>.
    retrieve that data from the database.
    Normally it is suggested to encapsulate the data retrieval in a separate class.
    For simplicity, the select statement has been implemented here.
      select * into corresponding fields of table itab_hd
      from vbak
      where vbeln in <fs_vbeln>
      and auart in <fs_auart>.
    bind the data to the context
      node_hd = wd_context->get_child_node( name = 'HD' ).
      node_hd->bind_table( itab_hd ).
    bind the data to the context
      loop at itab_hd into stru_hd.
    retrieve item_node object each sy-tabix
    i could't get item_node object when sy-tabix is 1.
    i hope to know why i can't get item_node object when sy-tabix is 1.
          node_hd->get_child_node(
            exporting
              index = sy-tabix
              name = 'ITEM'
            receiving
              child_node = node_item ).
          when index = 1
          node_item object is null.
          why node_item object is null?????
          i don't got it.
          can sombody explain about it???
          because of this matter, i can't acess frist node_item to insert value.
          do you have a solving this matter?
            select * into corresponding fields of table itab_item
            from vbap
            where vbeln = stru_hd-vbeln.
            node_item->bind_table( itab_item ).
      endloop.

    Hi Regina.
    So you say if it is not declared as singleton it is created for each element. But
    when I declare my subnode with cardinality 0..1 I face the same problem.
    This is what I do:
    I bind the elements to the parent node. Afterwards I loop all elements of the parent
    node and try to get the subnode with element->get_child_node( ). If cardinality of
    the sub node is 0..1 or 0..n the reference is NULL. If cardinality is 1..1 or 1..n the
    reference is not initial.
    At what step does the frameowrk create the subnode then?
    Cheers,
    Sascha

    Any help ?
    Thanks

    Hello Jego.
    We faced the same issue after upgrade to EHP1 SP07 last week and managed to solve it by modification of layout.jsp and com.sap.nw.wpc.layoutmanager.LayoutBean within com.sap.nw.wpc.designtime.par. SAP's code requires an additional catch handler, so it is better to rise an OSS message.
    As a workaround you may change a default layout for wpc main page (good for new pages) or manually edit output.xml for existing pages.

    Excellent piece of follow-up on my first suggestion.
    I nearly made a comment about how the plan doesn't show Bloom filter pruning either - and then I realised why not. The plan you've shown us comes from Explain Plan with literal values present; the trace file shows bind variables with names that are generated when cursor_sharing is set to force or similar - so the run-time plan and the plan from explain plan are almost guaranteed to be different.
    Oracle support will need you to supply the plan you get from trying to run the query and then making a call to dbms_xplan.display_cursor() - dbms_xplan in 10g | Oracle Scratchpad If you do this I think you'll find that the pstart/pstop columns contain entries like :BF0000, and you may even find operations link PX JOIN FILTER CREATE / PX JOIN FILTER USE
    A couple of generic notes:
    if a query does sufficient work to merit parallel execution, then it's usually better to supply the best possible information to the optimizer, which means using literals rather than bind variables - you could try executing the query with the hint /*+ cursor_sharing_exact */ to stop Oracle from turning your literals into binds; it might be the presence of bind variables that's making the optimizer choose a path that has to include bloom filter pruning in your case.
    Where you have the to_date() call you've used a four-digit year - which is a very good thing and helps the optimizer - but it's also a good idea to include an explicit format string as well: with a four-digit year this probably won't make any difference, but it avoids any risk of ambiguity for the optimizer.
    I made a comment about the P->S stage and bottlenecks - I spent a couple more minutes looking at the plan, and I see the optimizer has used concatentation: in effect it has run three query blocks one after the other and fed the results to the query co-ordinator - in this case the P->S would make no difference to the end-user response time there's always a final P->S to the coordinator, you just happen to have three of them.
