Runtime Login Without ODBC

Hi there
I am using Crystal in C#.Net 2005.  My report works fine using an ODBC login using the method SetDatabaseLogon, BUT my issue is, this will be running on a web server running a few multiple reports linking into different SQL Server tables.
Obviously ideally I do not want to create loads of ODBC entries on the server, and wondered is there a way of doing it in the code.
I look forwards top hopefully getting someones help.
many thanks
Glyn

Hello Glyn,
we also have a good collection of samples for all aspects how to use our products.
It might save you some time to see ready coded ideas [here|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/dotnet/samples] and also [here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-downloads] (choose-> Crystal Reports  ->.NET  ->Sample) where you will find lots of samples for  win or web apps e.g. [here|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252712008E/csharp_web_smpl.exe].

  • How can I create a data connection without ODBC (directly with OLE DB)

If connecting to an OLE DB data source, which is not defined as ODBC, the well known error message appears in Acrobat, that the environment is not trusted. The Designer Help says, that the document must be certified in Acrobat to run OLE DB without ODBC. So I certified the document in Acrobat allowing dynamic content for it. But the error message always appears. So I have some questions to this:
How is the correct certification process in Acrobat to define a trusted environment for using OLE DB without ODBC?
Why generates using of ODBC an trusted environment? With using ODBC data sources can be changed external from Acrobat, so I must think, ODBC is absolutely insecure.
Why is OLE DB without ODBC insecure? Here I have a defined connection string, which cannot be changed at runtime (if the form developer this doesn't want).
And why is the first record displayed instead of the error message, if using OLE DB without ODBC, but navigation is impossible?
This seems all very mysterious to me.
Does anyone in the world has ever created an OLE DB data connection (without ODBC) with Designer and Acrobat, which runs in a trusted environment?
    Thanks for your answers.

For the Projects, the trick will be the Asset files. If they will fit onto DVD DL discs, you're OK. If they are too large (DV-AVI is ~ 13GB per hour), then you'll need some type of backup, or spanning software, that will write files across multiple discs. A better choice, IMO, would be a 1 - 2 TB external, where you can use Project Manager, or just Windows Explorer and Copy, to do the entire Project folder with Assets. I'd recommend against a USB and go at least for FW-400. FW-800 would be better, but you'll need FW-800 connections on your computer. eSATA would be the best, but then you'll need eSATA connectors.
    Good luck,

  • Network Users - Can't login without home folder

    Hey everyone,
Got a problem. We upgraded our lab from 10.6.8 to 10.9.3. Preserving our settings and bootcamp by simply upgrading. After getting nearly all machines sorted out with active directory we are still having a problem with 2-3 machines with network user accounts being able to login. If no local home folder has been created prior to upgrading to 10.9.3 then the user cannot login, the login prompt dissapears then re-appears. Any way to fix this?
Here is a run down of the set-up.
Our settings force network users to have a local home folder on the local mac that they are logging into.
Mac OS X server is 10.6.8.
Active directory server is 2012 R2.
Network users without a pre-created home folder on the local mac prior to upgrade cannot login. The login prompt dissapears, then re-appears. No login.
Computers are managed with workgroup manager, as well as apple remote desktop. But no settings are applied, and no login scripts are being run.
Also I have noticed something concerning Mac OS X 10.8.5 and up. And that is in the active directory settings, if you bind to a domain (using active directory and not LDAP), lets say for example:
    mydistrict.maindistrict.net
And you go to add your local active directory district to the Authentication/Contacts search policy eg: Active Directory/mydistrict.maindistrict.net
it will only show: Active Directory/mydistrict/alldomains.maindistrict.net.
It shows a list of all domains for the forest. But it also adds the district that you bound to as the search directory?
Let me use a precise example using actual names.
    Bind to local district: pineville.ketsds.net
Now in search policy on 10.8.5 up to 10.9.3 it displays possible search domains like this:
Active Directory/PINEVILLE/pineville.ketsds.net <- The domain we want.
    Active Directory/PINEVILLE/all-other-domains-in-forest.ketsds.net <--Which is fine.
Which is all fine, but when we select  the local domain for authentication, and contacts search it adds it, but in the overview it says that it is not in our search policy even though it is.
On Mac OS X versions below this (10.6.8 and down, cannot verify for 10.7 as we do not have systems with it) it displays the search domains as:
    Active Directory/pineville.ketsds.net
as compared to  this on 10.8.5 and above:
    Active Directory/PINEVILLE/pineville.ketsds.net
as well as all the other domains, and when you add the local to the search policy it does not give the error that it is not in your search policy. Is there anyway to make this happen on 10.8.5 and above? We have tried everything. Network accounts will login even though it says this, it is just annoying.
Last question is on one computer that we upgraded, we had a problem with the network accounts. Tried deleting the .plist for network preferences, and the Directory services folder as well as the Open directory folder and now it create the open directory folder as locked and any changes made with the directory utility in the search policy is immediatley reverted once we hit apply.
    Summary of questions:
1.) Network users cannot login without local folder created prior to upgrade.
2.) Mac OS X 10.8.5 and above does not correctly add Authentication/Contact search policy domains as it does in 10.6.8 and below.
3.) Active Directory/Open Directory Authentication/Contact search policy settings keey reverting after applying. (Happened prior to deleting .plist files and AD/OD folders in /Library/Preferences)

  • I recently inherited a macbook pro when my good friend passed away. the screen is password locked. is there any way around the login without knowing the password???

How can I get past the password locked login without the password

The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
    1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted from the disc, the USB device, or Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.

  • Com.sap.portal.runtime.login.par.bak

    Hi everyone,
I've been reading blogs and forum posting regarding how to change the logon page.  In all sources that I read, they all refer that the location of 'com.sap.portal.runtime.login.par.bak' is in '<drive>:\usr\ap\W01\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd'
    directory...
However, I found mine in '<drive>:\usr\ap\W01\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\temp'
    directory...
Is is fine just to use the one in 'temp' directory?  Furthermore, after I do the changes, should I copy the par file to both temp and pcd directory?
    Thanks
    Johannes

    Hello,
You will have to remove the .bak extension and put the file in PCD directory before you restart for the chnages to take effect.
Also please do not name the par file same as com.sap.portal.runtime.login.par give it any other name like mylogon.par edit the par file using NWDS, and put it in PCD. Restart the engine the new par file will be used.

  • Using database without ODBC

It's possible to use a database without ODBC in Labview??

    Hi Rolf,

As i know that the ODBC driver is a very slow method to access database i m searching for a faster way to do it. Do you have any suggestions?
It's not ODBC that is necessarily slow. It is usually the way you retrieve data that has a lot more influence on the speed of the data retrieval. In the case of the Microsoft ODBC driver it might be that this driver is not specifically optimized for speed for various reasons.
First implementing someone elses protocol is always difficult (not sure how well Oracle documents their protocol) and the temptation to stop when it is working rather than when it is working perfect is much bigger. Also it is of course not in Microsofts interest to provide you with a solution for Oracle that outperforms their own SQL Server interface so that is even one more incentive to stop when it is working rather than when it is working perfect.
Have you tried to use the Oracle ODBC drivers? They might be more optimized so that retrieving data through ADO can be faster.
Very important is how you retrieve the data however. The classical and simple way of retrieving data element for element is very slow. For this ADO/OLE DB has introduced rowsets which query several rows of a query result at once in one single driver request and then later allow the client to retrieve the elements locally into the native data. This is for remote databases always a huge performance improvement, since the bottle neck here is the network communication and not the memory manager or IO interface. So requesting one whole bunch of rows at once instead of element by element reduces the network traffic substantially and increases the performance at the cost of some extra memory usage for local caching. And the best thing is that the ADO rowsets can be mapped to ODBC cursor sets if the ODBC driver supports cursor sets and the ADO ODBC bridge does that transparently for you. Accessing ODBC directly you could also use cursor sets, but the API for doing that is really not for the faint hearted. ADO rowsets in comparison are very simple to use.
Try to read a bit about ADO database query optimizations on the web to get an idea of the techniques used and they usually can be quite simply translated to ADO methods as used in the Database Connectivity Toolkit or any of the other ADO based toolkits out there.

If on Unix/Linux, you can exec some script code to run "ps" to find your process (perhaps by examining the command line) and send it a SIGTERM via "kill".

  • Cisco ISE Guest Login without provisioning

    Hi,
I have setup the ise based on  https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-26442  whereby I have an authorization rule for CWA and an authorization rule for guestflow with provisioning. All is working great, however I was wondering if it may be possible to setup the ise with the following scenarios with dual ssid:
    1. user login to guest ssid and redirects to guest web portal and input guest credential created by sponsor (this is working well)
    2. user login to guest ssid and redirects to guest web portal and input credential from AD goes to provisioning (this is working well)
    3. user login to guest ssid and redirects to guest web portal and input credential from specified AD group and get internet/network access without provisioning.
For point 3, I was wondering if it may be possible and if so on how it may be accomplished? I have attached the present Authz rule for reference as well as the rule I have tried which does not seems to be working.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks.

No it doesn't, you can test the same , while editing the wireless SSID profile, opting authentication method as smart card other than PEAP/EAP.

  • Crystal Runtime Installation without RDC

    Moved Per Request
I am a design engineer with a development company who has been asked to update work previously done by an employee no longer with the company. The problem is that we have used a crystal reports runtime install that contains RDC. This gives users the ability to edit reports and so on. We have taken a different direction and we are looking to only supply canned reports that cannot be modified. We still need to provide runtime installation for crystal, but I have not been successful in finding the correct information.
Currently we call ReportsRuntime.msi which is tied to a Data1.cab file. I am not sure if this was generated via the companies installshield or was provided and received via BO.
My best guess is that it is ours and we are using Crystal 11 runtime within it. If so I can address that, however, I simply want to make sure I either have the correct runtime install or know for sure what files I need to pull in order to have a distribution without RDC.
As of right now I believe these will be:
    CRDesignerCtrl.*
    Craxddrt.*
    Craxdrt.*
Any assistance to get me in the right direction would be appreciated.
    Leon Elzie

Leon, when you say you will be using the RDC, I assume this is an app coded in VB 6, C++, etc.(?). That being the case I think the best way to approach this is to figure out what is the exact runtime you are using and the exact version you are using. I can then recommend the correct msms and other sources of information. You will have to then build an installation package using a utility such as InstallShield, Wise, MS Visual Installer, etc.
The msi and cab you mention does not come from Crystal / BO / SAP and I am not quite sure why you can not use it...(?).
To figure out the runtime, download the Module utility from here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip
    Use it as follows:
    1) Run your RDC app and process a report
    2) Start Modules
    3) Go tot he File menu, select New list -> Memory modules
    4) Save the file
    5) Expand the "By process" node and fine your app exe
    6) Click on the name exe, right side pane will get populated with the dlls loaded by the app.
    7) Go to the View menu and select details
    8) Look for craxdrt.dll, crviewer.dll and craxddrt.dll
    9) Let me know the version of each of the above and the path they are loading from.

  • OAM11g - How to perform direct login without accessing protected resource?

    Hi,
I think this should be a common requirement as website needs to provide a direct login page.
The OAM Documentation seems focus on the flow of starting from accessing protected resource then redirect to login page.
How can we perform direct login?
I tried from my custom login page directly, but it always gives me *"PolicyEvaluationException: OAMSSA-06191: The runtime request contains no resource"* once the login form submitted.
Anyone can advise? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply.
We need to cater for both the scenarios:
Scenario 1: User tries to access a protected page. He/she will be redirected to the login page. Once it is authenticated, he/she will be redirected back to the previously requested protected page
Scenario 2: User clicks the "Login" link on the homepage where the homepage is definitely unprotected. He/she will be redirected to the login page. Once it is authenticated, he/she will be redirected back to homepage.
I have tried to the "Success URL" parameter of the Authentication Policy. However, once "Success URL" is defined, Scenario 1 will NOT work...
Yes. There are some work around solution I can think about.
Example: use a intermediate page 'rediret.jsp' which is defined as the protected resource.
The flow is: clicks the "Login" link on the homepage -> a intermediate page 'rediret.jsp' -> login page -> redirect back to 'rediret.jsp' -> 'rediret.jsp' will redirect user to the Homepage...
But I think Scenario 2 should be very common and it should be a right solution for it. Please advise. Thanks

  • JAAS login without a password

I am trying to log-in a user with just the user-name.
I have 2 applications, Application A logs-in with his username and password. When user tries to launch Application B, Application B receives the username from Application A which is already running. Now Application B must login automatically with just the password.
Is this possible with JAAS authentication? any sample code will be appreciated too.
    Thanks

I have the same problem. I want to remove the password prompt when I power up my Mac.
I know how Automatic Login works but my wife and daughter have profiles on the Mac and when I set my log-in to Automatic, we don't get the list of users to choose from. It goes straight to my profile.
So ... I want to remove (not reset, remove) the requirement for a password on my log-in at power up without reinstalling the entire system but we need to have the list of user profiles available on start-up.
Is this possible or am I looking at reinstalling the entire system?
    Thanks.

  • Can't login to wireless network. Deleted network but still time-out trying to login without asking for new password

Well I am downgrading (if you can call it that). Leopard and Snow leopard are just superior OS's for power users. All the fancy stuff put in Lion actually slowed it down considerably among all the other bugs..... but anyway
I changed my network password today. My mbp on lion cannot access the network. I deleted the saved names in network preferences, I rebooted my modem an router, even cleared the DNS cache in Terminal. It still tries to connect to the network and times out... without asking me for the new WEP password I have put on the network.
My other laptop on snow leapord does what it is supposed to. Deleted the network name in network preferences, clicked on network name to get online, and then it requested the password name. Why doesn't Lion do this??
Like I said before I did all the above. I don't know what else to do. I also manually deleted the keychain passwords. Still no luck. I guess I have to rename my network lol.

Access the router's admin area and put in a new password.

    Hi
Do you know if is it possible a silent update of a new version of Air Framework?
I developed an application with silent auto update enabled but if there is a new version of the runtime the update manager asks to the user if he wants to install the update.
I found in the adobe website the Air Settings Manager application but it only allow you to disable / enable the adobe air runtime.
    Can someone help me please?
    Thank you

Unfortunately, the Runtime updater is never silent.  If this is important to you, I'd suggest adding a new feature request on it over at bugbase.adobe.com.  You might also want to look into some of the new installation features included with AIR 3.
