S10-3t and linux: which wifi driver?

I have linux on this little beast and now I'm trying to get wireless up. A lspci -v shows that I'm dealing with a AR9285 atheros device.
I have tried: the native kernel drivers with the latest 2.6.34-rcxx kernel. I have tried the latest svn from madwifi. I have tried the latest pull from the compat-wireless project. None of these have worked, and the only one that almost has is the native kernel drivers which gives me a phy0 atheros device in dmesg but no corresponding wlan0/whatever in ifconfig. I do however see an unattached device using iwconfig. Note that wireless does indeed work under windows 7.
Has anyone had any success with this? The atheros website links to the madwifi drivers as being the "most recent" but as anyone that uses linux knows when you put a chip in a new environment sometimes drivers don't always see it for what it is.
As a sidenote, the touchscreen does in fact work under X. I'm compiling compviz fusion to see how two finger stuff/rotation and whatever works.

Tecra S10 - 123 and Linux Mandriva Boot Problem

I have a Tecra S10 - 123 since two months and wanted to install Mandriva on it (I do not have any experience with Linux...). I did burn the .iso Image to the Cd and changed the bios settings to boot from cd. That works without problems, but Mandriva stops to boot from the Live Cd after the Kernel has loaded.
What can I do?

I'm not sure what kernel Mandriva has in it's Live CD. If it runs a kernel that doesn't have AHCI compatibility built-in, it will fail for sure. In this case all what you have to do is to set "Compatibility" setting for your HDD in BIOS, to drop the SATA support. Other ways, just contact Mandriva support team and see what they can recommend you. And by the way, ask around what file systems are supported, so you won't have the same problem after installing.

560Z and linux, without CD driver, how?

I have a prestine 560Z but this comes without internal or external CD, greater 10yrs old but does work with windows 98.
I know several linux distro that may work with the unit but unsure how to proceed without CD access. I don't have any OS in it now so there is no functioning network. I have asked linux forum but if anyone have suggestions please let me know.

T540p battery drain in S4 state after Bios and Intel Wifi driver update

Since I have performed a BIOS update to 2.14 and an update of the Intel Wifi driver to 17.0.5, I experience the problem of battery drain when the computer is in S4 sleep state, at a rate of approximately 0.125% per hour (on the 56Wh battery).
This was not the case before these updates. There was no noticable power drain in S4 sleep state, even not over multiple days.
I'm using Win7, I set all the WoL capabilities both in BIOS and in the Intel driver to disabled, according to

External device USB charge settings are also fully disabled in BIOS and Power Manager. The problem does not occur when the system is fully shut down, but in S4 Sleep state, which should be a zero-power state too, as it was before the updates. In the details of the BIOS update it is stated " Fixed an issue where the computer might fail to enter sleep state". Could the power drain be a side effect of this fix? Or is it an issue with the (new) Wifi driver, as it was the case for the Y410P?
How could this battery drain be avoided? Has anybody experienced the same issue?

you could check out devices that might resume laptop from the sleep modes and disable them. Type in the following command in the cmd line window:
powercfg -devicequery wake_armed
Also the following command will show you report about power management. Open cmd window with administrative rights and type in:
powercfg -energy.

Which jdbc driver should be used for sqlserver 2000 and where to put it.

My odi is 11g. I met the error infor "Could not load JDBC driver class [com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver]" when i tried to connect to a sqlserver2000 database.
The questions are:
1. which jdbc driver should be used for sqlserver 2000?
2. which folder to put it in?
3. how to set the physical topological "Microsoft Sql Server" to use this jdbc driver?
failed tries:
i downloaded the driver "SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 2" and put it in the following folders:
1. .../oracledi/drivers, and set this path to CLASSPATH.
2. .../oracledi/userlib didn't exist, i created it and put the driver in.
3. .../oracledi/agent/dirvers, in which a readme file exists and told me to put drivers in this folder.
All these works were not useful. when I start odi.sh and try to connect to sqlserver2000 database, the same error infor came up.
my environment is:
os: Linux 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Tue Aug 18 15:51:48 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Hi,
You should check which JVM version is required by that version of the driver, I think the 2.x versions require a 1.6 JVM
What error are you getting? If it is the "com.sunopsis.sql.c: No suitable driver", it indicates it can't find the jar file (sqljdbc.jar) for the driver you specify.
Drivers folder in ODI 11g is under
C:\oracle\product\11.1.1\Oracle_ODI_1\oracledi\agent\drivers.
if you are using the standolone version
On windwos :
C:\Documents and Settings\<userName>\Application Data\odi\oracledi\userlib
on linux
$HOME/.odi/oracledi/userlib

Satellite L350-277 - Update of new BIOS and Wifi driver

TEMPRO has given me 2 new drivers but neither has instructions.
BIOS installation used to be an operation involving copying the driver to a disc and then changing the boot-up order to start with that disc.
However I think the new BIOS drivers are installed with Windows running - as a normal program. Anyone know for sure ?
I assume the wifi driver is a normal install, with wifi switched on or off ?

I mean; do you have any problems with your notebook where such update would be required?
You should not update this if everything is OK. in most case the Tempro notifies you about drivers and tools which are uploaded to the driver page but this is not a recommendation for an update you know what I mean???
I follow always this tip; never change a running system.

The external drive must be connected to the Mac using either USB or FireWire
You must remove the external hard drive from the list of items that are "excluded" from backups in Time Machine Preferences.
Here's how:
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
Open Time Machine
Click Options
Look for the name of the hard drive in the list of "excluded" items and click on it to highlight it
Click the -- (minus) button at the bottom of the list to remove the hard drive from the list of "excluded" items....so it will now be backed up
Strongly recommend that you do the first backup using Ethenret from your computer to the Time Capsule since the entire contents of the external drive will be copied on the first pass. Ethernet will be 3-5 faster than wireless.
Once you have the first backup done, you can use wireless for subsequent backups since they will nornally be much smaller....unless you add large files to the external drive.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Pretty much any of the SATA 3.0 Gbps drives.
Western Digital Black and Blue and Hitachi 7K drives are all good choices.
If you try a SATA 6.0 Gbps drive, it will need to be jumped to limit to SATA 3.0 Gbps.

Sounds like a permissions problem ie read only.
If running repair permissions from your DiskUtility.app does not sort it,
Someone should jump in here with erudite and concise fix.
