Safari 5.1.10 for snow leopard not opening web page

The last few days Safari will not open the following web page "//canucks.nhl.com" it gets stuck on loading 27/102 items.  A forced quit is rehired.
I have reset Safari, repaired disk permissions, and still no result.  I have 3 Safari extensions,  1Password, AdBlock, Print Plus.  I disabled them and no change.
Google Chrome opens this page with no problems.
Fire fox opens the page but reports an unresponsive script, clicking on stop script opens the page.  The Script: http://www.nhl.com/nhl/js/_jslib-plugins.min.js?v=6.37:6
Thanks in advance
Regards

Today, for no apparant reason the web pages from the site now load with Safai.

  • Safari Extension - Google Reader for Snow Leopard Not Installing

Google Reader for Snow Leopard is not installing on my 10.6.4 system with Safari 5.01. It just claims to be "Installing"...forever.
    Anyone else have this problem?
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If you can install the Google Reader extension, move that .plist file to the Trash.

I would take 'Y2ken's' advice and try Firefox.  I have used it for years with XP Pro and Ubuntu, Linux.  It definitely is more responsive.  Most of what is in IE8 was developed in FF several years ago.  FF was the first browser with tabs, for instance.

  • Safari 5.1.8 for Snow Leopard available

But only as part of a recent security update. Still, those still with Snow should take advantage of the security upgrades that we thought would not happen.
    Available through Software Update.

Are you kidding?  That would be a HUGE step backward.  It's almost as if Apple snuck this into the security update just so they could sabotage Safari for Snow Leopard.  Is Apple that desperate to get us to leave 10.6.8 and go to Mountain Lion?
It's really screwed up that I'm now going to avoid a security update just because Apple decided to sneak a Safari update inside of it.  This is a highly unusual and suspect way to "update" Safari.

  • Safari not opening web page with 10.4 thru 10.6 either on wireless or direct connect Cat 5, any ideas?

    Hello,
Have a 2006 MBP core duo that Safari seems to stall and not load web pages using wireless or CAT 5, have reloaded the OS starting with Tiger and have progressed thru Snow Leopard and still no luck, I-chat works no issues and have done all the updates both wireless and via CAT 5, any suggestions?

Try emptying the Safari cache more often.   Command + Option + E
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, from your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Cllick Change Settings from the Proxies pop up menu. That will launch System Preferences for you.
Deselect any checked boxes on the left under Select a protocol to configure then click OK.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • IS THERE ANYONE LEGITIMATE THAT KNOWS WHY I CAN CONNECT TO INTERNET WITH A IBOOK G3 AND NOT OPEN WEB PAGES?  ONLY HAPPENS WITH MY LANDLORDS ROUTER THAT HE HAS PROVIDED THE PASSOWRD FOR. ONLY WAY I CAN CONNECT TO HIS SERVICE IS IF HE HAS FIREWALL DOWN. WE

PLEASE ONLY RESPOND IF YOU KNOW HOW TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I'M CONNECTED TO MY LANDLORDS INTERNET VIA AN EXT NETGEAR ROUTER, PASSWORD PROTECTED, THAT HE HAS PROVIDED WITH A G3 IBOOK. FULL SINGAL, CAN'T OPEN WEB PAGES. HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.

That's because your landlord probably is using WPA2 encryption or 802.11g or 802.11n wireless.  The iBook G3 lacks support for WPA2 encryption, which is much stronger than WEP and the original WPA.   It also only has support for 802.11b.     If you want to join a newer router with a secure firewall, get an 802.11g or better wireless ethernet bridge.
P.S. Please avoid from using all UPPERCASE.     It is hard to read, and in internet etiquette it means you are attempting to shout and be rude.  I'm sure that was not your intent.  So please avoid from doing that again.  Thank you.
P.P.S.  10.7.1 can't run on an iBook.   Are you sure you have an iBook and 10.7.1 is on it?  If it doesn't say iBook on your screen frame, or Apple menu -> About This Mac doesn't say Mac OS X 10.7.1, it is not 10.7.1, or an iBook.    MacBooks, which replaced iBooks in 2006, and later came out with Core2Duo and Core i processors, are the only Apple notebooks that can run 10.7.1.

  • Adobe Reader 9.2 not opening web pages in Win7 64bit

After reading all the threads on this subject, it seems that two things are obvious: Adobe has a lot of trouble with their software fixes, and secondly, the fixes seem to be different for many PC's and OS's. I have windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit, and Adobe reader 9.2 is hanging when we try to open web pages with .pdf files. We are using IE8 ( even Firefox with foxit is having a heart attack ! ) I am trying to uninstall version 9.2 with no success. It gets to one part of the uninstall and then gives me a message that other programs are using Reader, and it stops the uninstall. I have tried REPAIR, it does not help. Am I to assume that Adobe AIR and Adobe.com ALSO need to be uninstalled PRIOR to attempting to uninstall Reader 9.2?
Also, I feel that the present install of 9.2 is corrupted ( hence why I am trying to reload ) because when I open the Adobe Reader icon on the desktop, the black Adobe screen opens, but after about 6 seconds the Adobe screen goes white and there is a message in the top Adobe Reader bar stating that the program is not responding. ( Obviously something is missing in the install ) MS  UAC is set to OFF, so no security blocks there.
Q1 : How do I get Adobe Reader ver 9.2 to uninstall?
Q2: Will version 9.2 of Adobe Reader work on Windows 7 64 bit presently?
Thank you in advance for any kind assistance

To uninstall Adobe Reader, make sure (using Task Manager's Processes tab) that Adobe Reader is not running.  Browser windows should also be closed.
If you still cannot proceed, try in Safe Mode, or use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
P.S. Adobe AIR and Acrobat.com are not directly related to Adobe Reader, and can be uninstalled independently.

It's oke. In Facebook options set your accesspoint to always ask before connecting aswell as other apps like your browser, etc..... Change packet-data settings from when available to when needed.

  • Safari will not open web pages anymore on my MacBook.

I am running Mac OSX 10.7.5 Lion, Safari 6.0.2.  Although I have had occasional problems with slow loading web pages in the past,  it wasn't until yesterday that pages stopped loading entirely. I am using my iPad to post this question. The iPad, my iPod Touch and my wife's MacBook (running the exact same software) are all working normally. I have re-cycled my modem and AirPort Extreme, but the problem still exists. One strange twist - I use Evernote to keep notes and as a journal. When Evernote was open and I was using Safari unsuccessfully, I noticed that Evernote had opened 2 web pages (Apple Support) in Evernote as notes! While investigating I found that in the Develop menu, the 1st item "Open Page With" shows "Evernote 5.0.4" but not Safari or anything else as an alternative. On the Safari Preferences Menu, General, the Default web browser shows Safari 6.0.2, but on the drop-down menu Evernote 5.0.4 appears as the alternate browser.I have sent a message to Evernote support, which may be answered in a few days if I'm lucky. I have deleted Evernote from the Extensions menu which did nothing - I can still open it as usual. I have also restarted the MacBook several times, tried signing on with a new ID to make sure that  there is no problem associated with my account. In this mode, Safari still did the same thing. The problem is somewhat irregular, since the first couple of pages will usually open after I close Safari, clear history and delete caches (I always do this and normally browse in the "private browsing" mode). Next step will be to send the Evernote application to the Trash. (notes are saved on the Evernote website and are also on my iPad). I noticed that some Safari users solved this type of problem by upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion. This would be a last resort, but I wonder if I made some change with my DNS servers it could solve the problem. My IP is Comcast and the DNS servers, they say, are generated automatically.  Also, there is no problem with my wife's MacBook/Safari, so I'm not sure this would actually help. Any suggestions will be considered helpful since I have to solve this quickly due to an upcoming travel schedule.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari, camino, firefox not opening web pages but IE does... any ideas why?

i just recently moved from the US to Bosnia. after finaly getting high speed internet, i'm finding that some web pages on my macbook pro open incredibly slow or not at all while those same web pages open just fine on my pc using internet explorer. i've tried using camino and firefox in addition to safari and all have the same problem on the mac.
    does anybody have any ideas?????

well friend, thanks again for all your help. i found a lot of help on another thread if you're interested: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1195713&tstart=0
regardless, here's some things i did that seem to have helped for now... significantly speeding up my web browsing:
    1. I changed from WPA/WPA 2 to just WPA 2 (this seemed to have helped the most)
    2. I added two 'general' DNS addresses in my preferences/network settings (this also seemed to help):
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    3. under my preferences/network settings, I completely turned off Configure IPv6. (I don't know if this has helped but it was suggested and it doesn't seem to have hurt)
Unless I'm connected to a cisco client, I still have very slow to no browsing on the apple discussions pages but all other pages seem to be working now without cisco.
    until next time.

  • Password for new modem not opening config page.

    New ADSL Modem/Router from ISP.A Zyxel P-660HN-T1A_1Pv6
Only wanted the modem function as I use Time Capsule and an Airport Express to extend the signal.
On bringing up the modem web page and login box for device configuration, my password is not accepted using Safari ( My default browser)
I have managed a successful login with Firefox(on adjusting permissions) and immediately with Opera and Google Chrome.
I use "wireless"off and the Open DNS servers, but the login failed initially while showing my ISP's DNS addresses
To add to the confusion, a friend who was visiting today with his laptop was able to access my device configuration with his Safari (which he doesn't use usually)
I am left with the conclusion that there is something in my Safari setup which is blocking the browser from accepting the password.
For the life of me I can't identify it and other than checking others' setups I don't know where to go from here.
I admit that I can access the configuration page with the other browsers and my connection seems to be working OK, but I find this business intriguing and would appreciate any possible lines of enquiry.
    I have updated everything fully!
    Thank you.

  • Safari will not open web pages on my Ipad3

In General Settings, it says there is no Network Available.  How do I fix this?

Thank You Demo for your reply.  To answer your questions:
Yes, my wireless WiFi is on.  It is working because I am using it on my laptop now to reply to you.
I only use my network in my home and it works.
I must have something set wrong on my Ipad3 Settings?
Whenever I try to use Safari, I get the message:  Safari cannot open this web page.
Also, I have disconnected the Router power (thinking the Router was bad), waited a minute, and reconnected the power.  It doesn't fix anything regarding my Ipad3.
Does this help you determine a possible solution?  I hope so!  Thanks anyway for your time and effort, if not!

  • Not Opening Web Page

I used to be able to ead a web page, www.tamubyx.org. Now Safari or FireFox won't load it. It says the server is too busy or something like that. However, another roommate can access the page. There is not a problem with the web page itself. How do I fix the problem?

Perhaps the problem/solution lies outside of Safari (especially given Firefox's similar response). First, quit any browser that is open. Next, remove the electrical plug from the cable box or router and let it sit idle for a few minutes. Plug-in again and let the unit reset itself (might take a minute or so) - a new DNS address will be created, which you'll see in your System Preference>Network Panel. Open your browser and surf to the URL in question. Please post back with results.
One other thought - prior to following the above instructions, go to your Network Panel and select the ethernet setting (I'm assuming you're not on Wireless - if you are go to the Airport setting). In the related panel, select TCP etc. Near the bottom you'll see "Configure IPv6". Select it. In the ensuing panel, click on the drop down menu and select "off". When you are returned to the main panel, select "apply". Then follow the above suggestions.
