Safari 5.1.2: Where is the built-in RSS Reader theme stored?

Hi all,
Safari's built-in RSS reader menus are displayed in wrong language on my system - does anybody know in which library Apple's blue RSS reader theme and/or it's ressources are stored, so I could check for missing language files? All hints I could find on the web are describing pre-5.1 versions of Safari, and after investigating my current libraries I'm sure the ressources changed, e.g. the SyndicationUI.framework under /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks.
Does anybody have any hints for me?

OK, here's what I'm talking about. This is a screen capture of a tab from the Macintosh version of Safari:
Notice how the "X" to close the tab is on the left-hand side and the text of the tab is centered on the width of the tab.
Here is a screenshot of the Windows version of Safari:
You can see how the tab is much smaller for one, but also how the text is justified to the left with the "X" to close the tab appearing on the right side of the tab instead of the left.
I don't really prefer one over the other (ie. left or right side), I just wondered if there's some setting to make them act the same way on both so that I don't have to constantly remember what OS I'm on in order to remember where the darn "X" is to close the tab.

  • Where's the built-in input gone?

I haven't used Garageband for a while and need to do some basic recording using the built-in input for real audio.
When I go to select the input there is no option for built-in, only 2 mono options for mic and stereo mic.
Where has the built-in option disappeared to?

You need to go to GB Preferences>Audio/MIDI and change the input to the Built-in.

  • Where is the built in Mic on my G5?

sorry to sound so stupid, but where is the built in microphone on my G5 located?
    TIA everyone

    Hi-
There are a couple of ways to get line in.
One, the versatile iMic. Still need a microphone.....
Use a self powered microphone like this DRK.
If you just need a mic for use with a webcam, get a USB webcam that has a mic built in. Plenty good....
Also the line in port, is it located at the back of the tower and presumably has a small 'mic' type icon located next to the port?
On the rear, yes. Mic icon, no.
The G5 tower has a rear mounted "optical digital audio in Toslink connector" and a "stereo audio in minijack".
This is where you would connect a preamp or amplifier, so that you could use standard microphones.
I use an iMic. Good for connecting my turntable, and for connecting a mic to add voiceover.......

  • Where is the background picture for a window stored?

    Greetings,
Where is the background picture for a window stored? What is the file called? I am trying to find the image used on a DVD.
    Thanks

when you set a picture to be a background of some folder that picture is not moved from its original location. instead a record is made in the .DS_Store file of that folder indicating that this picture is the one to be used for the background. in case of the DVD it is likely sitting in some hidden folder right on the DVD.
run the following terminal command to enable showing hidden files in finder
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 1; killall Finder
then look on the dvd and the picture should be there somewhere. if you still can't find it open the .DS_store file of the folder in question using Text Editor. a lot of this file will be unreadable but the picture path will be present in plain text.
when done rerun the above command after changing 1 to 0.

  • Where is the built-in microphone on a MacBook?

Where, physically, is the build-in microphone on a MB Pro -- i.e., is it in the vicinity of the speakers, adjacent to the keyboard, or perhaps up by the built-in camera (or tucked in somewhere else)?

If you look in your owners manual it will show you. If for some reason you don't have your manual you can download one at:

  • Where is the built in microphone on the Mac Book Air. I want to record my lectures.

I wish to use my Macbook Air to record my lectures and then upload them into our site for reviewing. I am not sure the best and quickest way to do this?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
There's the best way, and the quickest way and they are mutually exclusive. For best audio a USB voice quality headset & microphone will stop background interference and squelch... If auto-gain locking in on the loudest sound in the room near your computer... then the built in is fine... providing you have no external speakers and turn you down your speaker volume.  They are on the left side nearer to the front than the headphone jack.

  • Where is the built-in iOS world clock on the iPad?

i have an iTouch and i use the built-in iOS world clock, alarm, stopwatch, and timer app often.  i want it on my iPad 1 with iOS5.  why can't i find it anywhere or why isn't it just part of the base system?  lucas

Well, I am sorry; that is a deal breaker for me, at least concerning the iPad.  I have been using the itouch for a few years and I program Xcode for ios.  My job gave me this iPad to test and frankly I wanted the base itouch apps and then some.  There is absolutely no reason why apple can not extend those base apps to iPad interface, especially since it is the same os and object model.  Even my students agree that these base apps are best on the itouch.  So what does it take to convince apple to extend these base apps to the iPad?

  • Where does the built-in dictionary download from for iPad?

My school has just upgraded their internet connection because we have gone to a computing school, using iPads. Some of the students can't access the dictionary, simply because it is not downloaded, but the dictionary won't download. We think it is our firewall, because it won't download/install via our internet, but it will download/install when I use the internet sharing on my phone (using my 4G network).
Our tech guy says he will need the URL for the dictionary download  in order to clear any issues with the firewall.
Apps and other things download/upload and install fine, it's just the dictionary that won't do it.

Some of the iPads do not have a dictionary despite having 6.1.3. When we hit define define, it says that there is no dictionary present, we hit the download button, but it never downloads.
I'm not sure if anyone is currently having the problem right now, so I can't get you an error screenshot, but there was 2 or 3 people that had this problem that I had to download the dictionary using the 4G network sharing on my phone, because it wouldn't download using the school's network.

  • Where is the binary data of this icon stored and retrieved from Application server?

    Hello guys,
Today I observed one phenomenon and could not explain it per my knowledge.
I have one url which points to an icon in application server:
    https://<host name>:44301/sap/public/bc/ur/nw5/themes/sap_corbu/common/libs/Icon/SuccessMessage.gif
I could successfully open it via chrome:
and after that I could see an entry in ICM server cache. Everything works perfectly.
Then I tried to check this icon in mime browser in SE80. To my surprise, the folder /sap/public/bc/ur/nw5/themes is empty.
However, the ICM cache shows that there is a subfolder called "sap_corbu" under "themes" folder. But why I cannot find it in mime browser?
Then I write a report to retrieve the binary data of icon via CL_HTTP_CLIENT, and clear the ICM buffer via tcode SMICM.
I expect this time some database table will be queried to load the content of the icon, since now the buffer is not available.
To my surprise again, in SAT no database table is involved.
So now I am confused: since I have already cleared the ICM server cache, where does the icon binary data come from when I run the report to access the icon?
    Best regards,
    Jerry

    Hello guys,
one colleague today told me that there is a zip file "ur_mimes_nw7.zip" in MIME repository /PUBLIC/BC/UR/ur_mines_nw7.zip. I download it locally and unzip it and indeed find many theme folders including sap_corbu folder and its resource files. So I guess there must be some logic done in web application server which will unzip this archive file and put each theme folder to the corresponding folders in application server. I would assume those logic are done outside ABAP stack side, this is the reason I cannot find any hint of them in ABAP backend via tcode SAT even I clear both client and server side cache.
    Best regards,
    Jerry

  • Mac-mini "detect displays" where is the individual model's DDC info stored?

I have a dilemna- I just bought a new 20" NEC LCD screen that has all sorts of bells and whistles. It's 1600 x 1050 native, and has DVI, analog VGA, YUV, compostie, and RF inputs. It is supposed to have a scalar that supports a multitude of resolutions including 1920 x 1080i.
I bought it for a system of which has (2) mini-macs through a DVI KVM. I had one mini-mac successfully read the DDC info from the montior, and it provides a wide range of supported resolutions (including 1600 x 1050). All resolutions listed are progressive (no interlaced options)
When I switched my KVM to the 2nd mini-mac it was stuck in 1024 x 768, and that was the highest res that the display preferences gave me (probably because that's what it read off the DDC of the KVM switch?). When I hit the "detect displays" button, it proceeded to update the list of supported resolutions, but a very bizzarre thing happened: It did the opposite of the first mini-mac, and only listed "interlaced" video resolutions (with the exception of 1280 x 720p and 640 x 480p). The list was all 'broadcast-style" resolutions.
The profile for this montior on this mini-mac is now stuck in this mode, and I cannot get the desired 1600 x 1050 resolution that is native to the monitor. I've tried everything I could think of including ditching plists, clearing the PRAM, tricking the mini-mac, etc....
It's almost as if a mini-mac stores a registry of the monitor's DDC information onto the video card 'permanently' the first time, and never allows to re-read the DDC info again???
Does anyone know how to clear this registry?
The other clue to this whole thing is that the monitor has an option where you can set the DVI IN to either "DVI-PC" or "DVI-HD". The fussy mini-mac displays nothing in "DVI-PC" mode, and the behaving mini-mac displays in both modes. It's possible that the monitor was in "DVI-HD" when I hit the "detect displays" button on the fussy mini-mac.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, I wish I had your set up to play with. I could probably learn a lot from it
When DDC is read by the Mac, and when users make resolution settings based on it, the resultant settings are stored in a file called com.apple.windowserver.plist. There is one such file in /Library/Preferences but there may also be occurances of it for each user account on machines set up for multiple users AFAIK. They are plain text files so you can actually read them with TextEdit or other text editors.
The simplest thing to do might be to copy the file from the mini giving the desired behavior and use it to replace the file on the mini with the bad behavior. I don't think there is any machine specific info in the file, so I believe the file should be portable in this manner. On the other hand, this may not work because when you restart the misbehaving mini it might regenerate a "bad" windowserver.plist file again and replace the one you just copied over. Although I don't think that will be the case. Can't hurt to try. You might want to keep the older pref file around and rename it to "preferences.old". There is a procedure outlined here that is similar although it is based on doing everyting from starting into console mode:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464
As for why one mini is reading EDID one way and the other reads altogether something else, that's a really good question and one that I hope you are able to track down the answer to and report your findings back here. It could provide a lot of insight into other types of problems people have reported on this forum. Perhaps it relates to the DVI-PC or DVI-HD setting you refered to, but I have never known any other display that actively changed its EDID. EDID is always fixed I thought. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

    ..jsp_servlet\__savename.java:17: package com.company.project.ejb does not exist import com.company.project.ejb.UserData; //[ /SaveName.jsp; Line: 1]
The folder structure needs to mirror the package structure exactly (standard java)
So yes, If you have a com.company.project.ejb package with a class UserData within it
"UserData.class" needs to be in folder "WEB-INF/classes/com/project/ejb/"
If you don't have that class, then check your import statement - its asking for it.

  • I have to zip pdf files to email them to someone with a PC. The problem is they aren't smaller after zipping and I can't email them. I tried adjusting the Quartz filter to the Reduce file size. Now they're smaller, but the recipient can't read them. Help!

I need to zip pdf files to email them to a PC user. The problem is file size is not reduced.
I tried zipping them in Win 7 (which I use via Parallels 7) and sending them to the Finder to email.
But lately nothing is reduced.  I tried choosing the Reduce File Size option in the Quartz Filter when I save the doc. The file size was reduced. However, the recipient could not read the file. Everything was blurry.
    Is there a solution?

I am having some PDF sizing issues also, I am a BETA tester for TurboCAD Mac, and with the usage of (public) version 5, I have had some scaling issues. I have had (auto sent) 15 plus crash reports, (available as text) and had posted my scenario within the "lion- problems so far" article, so not to use up extra bandwith- or whatever- there are pictures there.
