Safari 5.1 css/html anomalies

This is really for the apple developers. Please fix the css render issues that other browsers are fine with. Are you guys using W3C standards?
Anyways I found this:
- problems with table cell top alignment with image align and text.
Notice the the first line of text is top align with the image?
the <img align="bottom"> with the <td valign="top">... The img align is ignored.
The css versions are also ignored.
I'll post more when I find more or if any of you guys notice anything else weird, please post.

I know Carolyn but the problem is related to Safari 5.1
The web apps are more or less web sites using the same technologies html css and javascript
and I would not like that future updates of IOS Safari will have the same problems.
ciao.

  • How to get Safari to open an HTML document created in AIR on iOS

    We have an iOS app that creates a 3-page HTML document on the user's device and then prints it. We were using Darkredz ANE to do this, but the ANE is broken in iOS 8 and the Darkredz website is abandoned.
    As a workaround, we want to use Safari to launch the HTML document, then print from Safari. But Safari won't open a local document that belongs to another app, probably because of the security sandbox. We don't have a network connection, so we can't save the file remotely. Is there a way to get Safari to open a local document?
    If not, does anyone know of a FileManager app that can open files that are located in the "documents" folder of other apps on the device? I've tried several of them, but so far, they only load files from iCloud, Box, etc.
    Thanks for any tips.

    Sorry I didnt think about it needing to print as 3 separate pages at specific points. If you can't get the HTML printing to work then you could keep could this thought in mind. If the height of the, I presume, HTMLLoader object is the right value, you can draw the white-space of the page into the BitmapData and then it might still print at the right location. If it doesn't work immediately and you felt like putting in a little more effort, you might be able to tweak the height of the HTMLLoader objects so that each one represents a single page. Granted this approach would likely only work for one paper size format, such as 8.5x11. Sorry I don't have any easier ideas that work with what you already have done so far

  • Does Safari have a css property to emulate IE's disabled vertical scrollbar

    Hi,
    Does Safari have a css property to force the always-on disabled Internet- Explorer-type scroll bar like Firefox has? The site design needs to plan for the scroll bar width anyway, and I don't want the screen jumping left and right when the scroll bar activates and deactivates. I also don't want to use the active scroll bar by setting lengths to height plus one.
    Thanks!
    Thanks!

    This isn't about the css standard. I agree that IE is a huge impediment to progress on the Internet as a whole. Having scroll bars showing by default or not is a browser design choice.
    Firefox and Safari have initially chosen to hide them by default, and have them visible only when content exceeds page length. I used to think that was the "right" way. I, and many others, now realize that IE has it right. The advantage is the page doesn't jump around depending on content. The designer must compensate for the possibility of a scroll bar in the design anyway. Firefox has recognized the validity and widespread support for this position and has since incorporated a proprietary css property to render the disabled scroll bar. They separate their properties by prefixing them with moz to circumvent conflicts with what may become a W3C standard property in the future. My question is whether or not Safari has any means available to web developers that enable them to display an inactive scroll bar yet.
    Thanks!

  • Code Photo Edges in CSS & HTML?

    Can someone give me an idea of how I can code the navigation bar shown in the image below? I'm specifically having trouble figuring out how to implement the tiny edges of the navigation bar into CSS & HTML code.

    a very thin border on the yellow container will do the rectangle, but IMHO, you will need  2 small graphics to acheive the "folded" ends.
    Or do it as a single graphic backbround banner.

  • Safari not loading .css files / hanging page load

    A bit of an odd one this...
    I'm having a few issues a couple of websites in that the page takes an age to load - and when (if) it does, the CSS file hasn't loaded, so the page is unstyled.
    One page is http://www.liverpoolfc.tv - the main page and the advert page before it both have the same issue.
    From the activity report, this is because the browser is not completing the download of the file http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/lfc.css - although this will download fine if I download the file not as a part of the site.
    The (Safari) activity report shows that the page's .css file is stalling, in this case at 8.0KB out of 8.6KB - this is consistent each time I try to load the page.
    The problem occurrs in both Safari (3.2.1) and Firefox (3.0.6) on Mac OS X 10.5.6. It also happens with the current version of WebKit and Camino. The computer is up to date on all other relevant patches, including the recent Security Update, Java Update 3 and Flash.
    I'm experiencing this problem with another website, again with the .css file not loading.
    Similarly, I have two computers (both the same versions of software) and the problem is consistent between them.
    What I've tried so far...
    - resetting Safari
    - deleting the cookies manually
    - using a proxy server
    - starting Safari in Rosetta
    - using a copy of Safari without any user preferences (via the System Admin login)
    None of these have made a difference. However, given that this is a problem across Safari, Firefox etc., I suspect this must be an issue in a shared component.
    Any thoughts?

    1. From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
    Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    2. From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
    and click Delete All. Close the preference pane. Test.
    3. From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Test.

  • Centre not working in Dreamweaver Design View (CSS+HTML)- Preview OK- help!

    Hi there
    I am having a slight problem with DW which I have had before, and fixed, but I cant for the life of me remember how I fixed it.  So any help is much appreciated.
    I am producing a proof site for a client and cannot load it to be live just yet so sorry for any inconvience but I have taken some screen shots and will paste code/html.
    The site is currently sitting like this  in the design view of DW
    [IMG]http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb323/SKH_Design/Picture1-1.jpg[/IMG]
    Which it usually doesnt.... its usually centred within the design view!!
    this is how it sits in the preview
    [IMG]http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb323/SKH_Design/Picture2.png[/IMG]
    My main page container is margin left auto and so is the margin right.
    (please excuse my experiment with the drop shadow behind the main container)
    please excuse me if anything is messy, im pretty new to this!!
    Thanks, Sarah

    Can you say what that's doing? "float" is not a legal value for the leftmargin style, which requires an integer value.  But its use is deprecated in favor of CSS anyhow.
    Your pasted code is lacking a doctype or anything that would normally be above that stylesheet link.  Is that just an oversight or is it really not there?

  • Safari not reading CSS scripts correctly?

    I have in my .css file a command as thus:
    menu {
    font-family: "Monotype Corsiva";
    This under all circumstances works, Monotype Corsiva is in OS X, and Windows OS's... but for some reason Safari won't view the font... why?
    This has to be a Safari bug, for I can get some other cursive fonts working...if it isn't how do I get the fonts working in Safari?

    It also doesn't answer my question.
    I doubt you will find one here. You might go to
    http://webkit.org/
    and try the latest nightly build and see if it works better.

  • Safari not rendering CSS and javascript correctly

    There seems to be a bug in Safari when dealing with CSS display property and javascript.
    I've created a form that hides certain fields when the right circumstances are met, those fields become visible. However, when they become visible, through the use of javascript, they don't display in the flow of the document. For example:
    [field 1]
    [field 2]
    [field 3]
    Assume that [field 2] is hidden on initial page load. And when [field 1] is clicked, then [field 2] should appear and it should appear after [field 1]. Safari, however, displays [field 2] above [field 1] and strips it of any styles. I spent 2 hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, but it turns out I wasn't doing anything wrong. It's Safari that can't render this correctly because when I test it in Firefox it works fine. Just as I expected it to. I hope this gets fixed in the next update.
    If anyone has any explanation or solutions or reasons for this peculiar anomaly please tell me.

    If you have not done so already, make sure you also tell Apple by using the Bug Reporting item in the Safari menu.

  • Safari problem with visual HTML editor

    Hey all,
    I have an error when trying to make an auction on a big portal. Safari doesn't have built-in visual HTML editor.

    HI,
    I think you'd have better luck for answers by contacting the site support area.
    You could try using the Firefox for Mac browser instead.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/mozillafirefox.html
    Always good to have a back up browser regardless and it might be more user friendly for that particular site.

  • CSS/HTML rendering bug

    I created an HTML/CSS code for rendering some shapes. No Javascript. No images. Just plain HTML/CSS. The result displays a bug in an element, compared with Chrome. This is not the first time I'm getting this kind of errors in Firefox browsers. Other HTML/CSS elements created previously have rendering issues, but they seem fine in other browsers.
    You can verify it here: http://codepen.io/doublecaffe/pen/QwmZJB
    Image attached. I'm using Firebox v36, Firefox Developer Edition 37.0a2 and Chrome 40.0.2214.115 m.
    Any clue about this or fix in a future update?
    Thx!

    Looks fine here in Firefox 36.

  • Problems CSS/HTML

    Could you please tell me what to do.
    - I don't know how to remove the blue rectangles in the header.
    - there should be a white box for the other secondary info
    - I want a footer with the copyright in it
    - I also want a bit more space around the text in the primary content's box.
    Here's the URL:   http://lave0134.site44.com/dsn1568/Untitled-5.html
    thank you

    Footer: Change this:
    <footer class="bottom">
      <footer>
        <p>©Company name. All right eserved</p>
      </footer>
    </footer>
    to this:
    <div style="clear:both;"></div>
    <footer class="bottom">
        <p>©Company name. All right eserved</p>
      </footer>
    This will bring the footer to the bottom by clearing its floats.
    For header, I don't see the blue boxes. Do you mean an array of checkered looking gray lines?
    For secondary info, when the footer code is changed, the 'gray' background behind secondary info will be gone and you'll see only white.
    For more spacing for primary content, change this:
    <div class="left">
      <article>
      <h2>Primary Content</h2>
    to this:
    <div class="left">
      <article id="primarycontent">
      <h2>Primary Content</h2>
    And in your CSS file, add this:
    #primarycontent{
    padding: 10px;

  • Safari - IE - Firefox - CSS Displays different in each

    Im hoping to get some help/direction for this site I am

    sure. I have created 4 or 5 sites now using it and I am gradually

    Here's the deal, the site looks wonderful in firefox on both

    Issues of concern:
    - Main navigation links word spacing is not consistent in all
    browsers.
    - The spacing between each cell seems larger in IE and

    You have set a width=100% for the TABLE #content-container, but you didn't specify a width for the enveloping parent TABLE.
    If you also set a width=100% of that TABLE then it works for me in Firefox 5.
