Safari asks for password twice.

I have a membership to a web site. Gaining access to the Members directory requires a user name and password. Once into the member's area there is a subdirectory that contains Quicktime movies to which I should have unfettered acceas. I can access the movies without any difficulty using Internet Explorer or Firefox, but in order to do so with Safari I have to enter my user name and password a second time. The HTML pages inside the Movies directory will draw but I see a question mark where the movie should be and a dialog box demanding my user name and password is presented. It's not a huge problem, but is is an annoyance.
Is there some setting in Safari I can tweak to stop this from happening? Is this a know bug with Safari? Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I've tried it two or three times without success. Maybe I'm doing something else wrong?
Clicking "Always Allow" adds Safari to "Always allow access by these applications" in "Access Control" and next time I go to that page it just fills in the password and lets me log in without even asking once. I really wanted to keep Safari out of Access Control so it would ask.
After experimenting, I think the following does what I want...
1. Create another keychain
2. Set it to lock 1 minute after use
3. Click "Always Allow" when asked
Now I get asked once for the keychain password every time I log in to the site. I guess that fixes it so I'll call this one resolved.

It's been a while since I've had to do this, but at some point in that process, is there a checkbox to save your password in the keychain? If so, make sure you check this box before you continue.
Edit: Try this: Go to System Preferences > Network, click on Airport in the left pane and click the Advanced button. Click on the Airport tab at the top and look for your Airport network name in the list of preferred networks. Click on it to highlight it and click the Edit button below that list. Does it already have your Airport password entered? If not, enter it there and check the "Remember this network" checkbox.

What you're seeing isn't normal. That is, Firefox on the Mac will normally allow you to open multiple windows, multiple tabs, whatever you want.
What happens why you try to open a new window in Firefox via File > New Window or Command-N? Is there an error message? Or is it that Firefox won't open links in new windows (or tabs)?

In Yosemite, I can;t operate for more than a few minutes with Keychain or Safari asking for my login password. How can I turn this off, and still be safe?

Using Yosemite, I an't seem to work for more than a few minutes without being asked for my login password. Keychain wants it, Safari wants it, iCloud wants it..the list goes on. Then in 10 minutes or so, they all want it again. Passwords are being stored by Safari as usual, but new tabs or pages bring up the request. How can I turn this off and still have protection?

Tutorial: Resolving Keychain Issues
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:
1. Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
2. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"
3. Click the "First Aid" tab
4. Make sure the "Synchronize login keychain password" box is checked
5. Close the Preferences window
6. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Keychain First Aid"
7. Enter your username and password
8. Click the "Repair" button
The second option is to completely delete your keychain then recreate it. This routine is useful if your keychain appears to be corrupt or otherwise inaccessible. This can be accomplished as follows:
1. Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
2. Click "Show Keychains" in the lower-left corner of the window.
3. Select the problematic keychain from the left-hand pane.
4. Navigate to the "File" menu and select "Delete Keychain '(name of keychain)'"
5. Check all options for deletion and press "OK"
6. Create a new keychain by going to the "File" menu, then "New" and selecting
"New Keychain"
7. You can now make this keychain your default if you desire by selecting it, then
going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make '(name of keychain)' Default"
Login as root and perform repair In some cases, problems with keychains can only be resolved when logged in as the root user.
First, you want to enable the root user:
1. OS X Mountain Lion: Enable and disable the root user
2. OS X Lion: Enable and disable the root user
3. Mac OS X 10.6: Enabling the root user
4. Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X
After enabling the root user, and logging in under this account, again open Keychain Access. First attempt repairs using Keychain First Aid, and failing that, delete then recreate the keychain as described above while logged in as root.
Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.

okay well they got me to take out some .plist files to see if that would help it didn't. I'm not sure what ones that they deleted for my self maybe someone here would be abel to tell you what ones to take out but didn't work the one that came close to working was this going into keychain and deleting the account(s) then reading them again.
if you are to do this please back up first with Time Machine. You can do this with a usb drive.
Okay so go back to where you had internet accounts and make sure mail is shut. click the - on the account your having problems with then quit system preferences.
Okay so then press cmd and space bar at the same time then type 'keychain access' into the search then click on 'keychain access'
once it is open go to the top of the window and put your email address that you are having problems with.
once you have put in your full email, have a look at what comes up i deleted things in the kind colome with 'internet password' and anything with under name that had smtp.gmail.com or imap.gmail.com so it would look like this, map.gmail.com - internet password.
right click and delete them. make sure not to touch any other files that dont say them things on them.
Once you have done this quit keychain access and then restart the computer, once the computer is restarted go back to system preferences and internet accounts and re-add the account.

I get this warning now To. Never saw it in last 5 years and 4 iPhones. Cannot get yahoo small biz email access anymore via iPhone on safari web login because of this same warning. Mail on all accounts (iCloud, gmail and comcast) keeps asking for passwords; many Internet sites that used to be filled in from Safari are blank and require password. In Mail accounts, the incoming server for MobileMe/iCloud is dimmed. I can check mail on the Internet but it's kinda handy to have it delivered to the iMac. What's up?

Okay, it is working now. I removed my account in Mail and upgraded to iCloud. Now it is working.

If you're trying to back up your device to iCloud, that doesn't have anything to do with your computer. You back up to iCloud over wifi. All you do is go to Settings>iCloud, sign in with your Apple ID to create your account, scroll down and tap Storage & Backup, then turn on iCloud Backup. You can then tap Back Up Now at the bottom to start the back up manually, or lock the screen and connect it to your charger and it will back up automatically every day.

Hi I can't update my apps when I try to update it asks for password when used it goes back to update. I think I'm not alone and have tried changing date switching off signing out and in and rebooting. Is there a solution or do I need to take it in?

I can't update my apps each time it asks for password when entered it goes straight back to update. I don't think I am alone in this. I have tested the blogs posts and change the settings in our development environment
and no windows authentication was shown with my username on the SharePoint 2013 environment. But, all related to change IE settings. In our organization, we have around
2000 users. It be impractical to set for users for these IE settings and network team regularly pushes group polices.
Q: Is some configuration has to be set on IIS or
some settings on SharePoint that users don’t get windows authentication? I have tried most of options but could not resolve this issue.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Sites go into the Intranet Zone, not the Trusted Zone. Only Intranet is configured, by default, to automatically pass credentials to SharePoint.
Yes, there are scenarios where this may not work, e.g. if you've configured the Web Application with Kerberos but didn't configure the SPN. Or if you're using Kerberos Constrained Delegation with Domain Controllers older than Server 2012 and your users are
in a different forest, etc.

You aren't going to be able to delete it without the correct password. If it's your ID, you can reset the password as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625. If it isn't your ID, you will have to get the password for the person who owns the ID. There's no way around this and no one else can help.

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.

OK...now I appear to 'progressed' I changed my email address back to original on Apple id and then was able to delete icloud account. Apparently I couldnt do it as it kept requesting password when I entered passsword ( both old and new one, it wouldnt accept it as it had my old email address in ) It didnt do that on ios6 . Anyway I deleted account, but now I tried to login in with my new id/password and it says unable as already in use!!! More help needed please! Its a nightmare!!

When I look up the account the "password" is a long string of gobbledygook. Something I would never do.
But when I attempt to use that pw I still can't get in.
I have no trouble accessing that email account on my mac mini. Just on the macbook.

I'm confess I'm still trying to get a handle on your problem. You do a fantastic job of describing it ... but I'm just trying to picture it accurately in my head.
I think, were I in your shoes, I'd begin by looking at what the debug page has to say for the specific destination in which you're interested in fixing. In other words, I'm not clear on where, exactly, this destination points ...

Is that your site, or the division within your site that you want to fix? "Normally", you do not need to specify a site handle to get to your site within your transfer CGI ... if you say "uillinois.edu", it's enough to transfer your users to iTunes U ... but every site still has a handle, and you could, if you wanted to, actually specify it in your transfer CGI. For example, this:

is for my entire site ... it's my site handle. Whereas this:

is for a division within my site ... but it's impossible to tell the difference between "site" and "division" from just the handle (I mean, if I didn't say "this is a site" and "this is a division", there'd be no way for you to know). So when I look at your creds and permissions on your debug page, I can't quite tell if they give you download access for your site, or for the specific division you want to fix. If you could open the debug page with your division as destination (or confirm that that's what we're looking at), it'd rule out some things.

Upgraded to Mavericks. Calendar.app asks for password to sync calendar to Exchange account. Exchange server rejects password.

Wanted to chime in and say I'm having the same problem. Had to go back to Outlook which feels ancient. Hope Apple fixes this soon.
