Safari gone from iPad.

We have over 100 students using iPads. Safari has disappeared from one of their iPads. It does not show up as an icon or in app searches. It also is not shown under settings. What do we do?

Safari is a pre installed app that cannot be deleted.
Tried Spotlight right? Swipe top to bottom of any home screen then type Safari in the search field top of the window.
If it doesn't show up in the Dock or Settings, try a reset.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

Pictures gone from Ipad after connecting to Itunes

I was starting up the macpro after having put new harddisc in after breakdown. All my photos were on Ipad1. When connecting Ipad a message came: do you want to transfer pictures from Iphoto to Ipad, pictures on Ipad will be kept. I agreed, but all the pictures were deleated from Ipad, and not transferred to Iphoto. Didn´t get that opportunity.
Can someone tell me how to get the pictures back on either Ipad or Iphoto? No file in garbage indicating photos.

Completely shuts down? You mean the iPad actually turns off? That's what "shuts down" means to me. The device powers off.
You could try closing all apps in the recents tray and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Safari disappears from iPad with addition of Exchange Server email setup

After updating the iPad with the new operating system, I noticed Safari disappeared and found no solution. Apple personnel had me restore the iPad system (which wiped out all the settings and caused me to lose numerous documents). But after the restore, I had Safari...until I again set up my email through Exchange Server. I can set up Gmail and my email through MobileMe and there is no problem. But setting up my email from Exchange Server causes Safari to disappear every time. Likewise, if I delete the email from Exchange Server, Safari is suddenly available and working well.
Any solutions.

I'm having the same problem. Updated to 4.2 everything is great except Safari is gone.
When I go into the General Settings, restrictions are disabled but Safari (and only safari) is turned to off.
So I added a passcode and enable restrictions, but I can't turn on safari.
If I delete the exchange account. Safari comes back. If I add it again it disappears.
I can't seem to find anything that can be tweaked on the server side of exchange or the client side of the ipad, Anyone have any ideas?
Mick you wouldn't know what the exchange setting was that needed to be changed?

All iOS iWork documents gone from iPad

I cannot access any of my documents in Pages, Keynote and Numbers on my iPad. I'd really appreciate any advice.
I'm currently traveling, am away from home and only have access to my iPad. I've been using pages and keynote regularly on the trip. I can see all of my files on iCloud when I login via Atomic browser (and identify as desktop safari) but this obviously doesn't let me open the files.
I have dozens of files in each of the three apps and while I can see the names they are all currently showing as blank icons. Only a couple show the download arrow, the rest just have plain icons and won't open. I'm connected to a wifi network but can't seem to force any of them to open or re-download. In settings/usage it looks like the files are still in the apps as both keynote and pages have 600MB+ of data.
I've tried re-booting, shutting down the apps etc.
One thing that may be relevant is that this has only happened today, the day that my iCloud storage subscription is up for renewal. My account has a positive balance and it looks like the subscription has been taken (although I can't see an iTunes account transaction history on the iPad). iCloud on the iPad says I'm only using 8 of my 15GB.
I am scheduled to give a talk in about 15 hrs from now and desperately need to open the file on my iPad. Going to another computer is no use as the presentation is greater than 100MB so iWork online won't let me download it.
I last had pages and keynote documents open while I was on a plane (in flight mode), 2 days ago. I do this regularly and changes just update when I next connect to wifi. I'm puzzled and very frustrated that I'm locked out of every document.
I'm on an iPad Air with the most up-to-date OS and versions of the apps.
Any help appreciated.

This problem did resolve for me. It took a few hours but all my documents reappeared in the apps.

Transferring Safari bookmarks from iPad to Laptop

Hi There.
So I've just installed Safari on my laptop, trouble is I need to transfer my bookmarks from my iPhone/iPad.
I've seen loads of sites offering me advice of how to go the other way (from laptop to iDevice) but obviously this would delete all my bookmarks from my iDevice.
Any help?

If the movie was purchased through the iTunes Store, you may want to try redownloading it from iTunes on your computer. You may find the following article helpful:

Where has my backup gone (from iPad to a Mac)?

I recently synced my adressbook from my MacMini to my iPad, but when the process starts it says that it will take a security copy. My internal harddrive memory started to decrease but nothing happened with the iTunes Library the iPad was synced to! This library was located on an external harddrive.
Another time recently I made a full synchronization. Since last time I synced I had downloaded some apps directly to my iPad though AppStore, but these new apps did not appear in the library I synced to. I have no idea where the copies of these apps in the iTunesMedia-folder are. Only apps from an older sync are there. So where is my backup of the latest apps? Why was my internal harddrive memory space decreasing during the security backup process? (The "new" backuped files are definitely not on my internal hard drive even if he memory space decreased.) Do anybody have any idea what happened? Or is this a serious bug in iTunes 10.1.1 which I recently downloaded. My impression is that the problem starts after installing this iTunes-version.

i have some bookmarks on my iPad tthat I want to sync to my Mac so I can then sync them to my iPhone. I have sync Safari bookmarks turned on iTunes but they don't sync To the Mac.
i Must be doing something wrong but I don't know what. I tried searching Apple support And these forums but couldn't find anything.
does anyone have any advice on this

My AirPlay icon has disappeared from my video player and I can't seem to get it back. Suggestions?

True. But the toys really aren't optional - they all make such perfect sense. Who could go back to digging through 400 CD's on a rack, then playing them one at a time, on one set of speakers, in one room? It's beautiful when it all works, but when it breaks, as it's wont to do, you're off troubleshooting instead of relaxing and listening.
Apple's got the right idea, though. When everything has to hew to the same standards, things are a lot simpler than when it all *should* work, somehow, but doesn't, and no one's sure why not, and the help desk is in Bangalore with second-level backup God knows where, and it's another hour out of your life mostly waiting on hold.

How to delete app from iPad

I own iPad 1. I want to delete some apps and Safari bookmarks from iPad sceren. When I Click and hold the button on the face of the ipad (on icons) they do no flash or start flickering.
So to remove apps i have to use iTunes (where it flickers). I read it should work same on iPad as well. What could be the problem?

If you press and hold any of the apps then after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake, not flash or flicker. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. You cannot delete any of the Apple built-in apps e.g. iPod, App Store, Game Centre etc. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'.

I had no idea my iPhone and iPad were connected and I deleted "notes" I had on phone they also were removed from iPad. Can these notes be retrieved? After this mess I will go downtown to apple store and learn how to use these devices.

Because it says it's incompatible when it can't be, I got hope. I get error messages all the time with my iPod and iPhone that it cannot sync and that 'this device is not capapble of connecting to iTunes' stuff. I literally forget that happened, plug it in again and it works, I later realize that iTunes made a mistake, they do that.

I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.

If you upload a document from your computer to your iCloud account, the document automatically appears in the app on the iPad - If the app works with iCloud.
You can't log into iCloud and transfer just any and all documents from your computer to the iPad. That's now how iCloud works. You have to upload all of the compatible files into iCloud before you get to the office and then the files will be accessible on your iPad.
There are really only a few apps that even work with iCloud in this manner right now, the Apple iWorks apps work with iCloud, so once again - at this point in time - given the way that iCloud works - there is no reason to log into your iCloud account on the iPad. You have to understand what iCloud does and how it works and I think then it makes sense as to why you don't need to log into iCloud on the iPad.

Entourage is a third party app so stop down to the Microsoft support forums. In any case I would suspect in its preferences there would be a selection as to when (parameters) incoming mail should be deleted from the server.
