Safari is running as a PowerPC app instead of an Intel 32-bit app

Exactly as the title says, my Activity Monitor says that Safari is running as a PowerPC app. There is some web content that seems to lag compared to other MacBooks. Any solutions?

HI Zack,
*"There is some web content that seems to lag compared to other MacBooks. Any solutions? "*
Depends on the MacBook's configurations. Not all are the same. You are running Leopard.. others Tiger or Snow Leopard.
Safari should run in 32-bit mode.
Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.

  • HT1766 I got a new Ipad mini and tried to back it up to look like my Iphone, however, it chose to pick the stuff from my wife's Ipad instead.   Now I'm showing her games and apps instead of mine.

I bought an Ipad Mini and tried to setup the mini through Icloud.   It selected all my wife's Ipad games and apps instead of my Iphone games and apps.   How do I get it to show my apps and games instead of her's?

Are you sharing the same iCloud and/or Apple ID?

  • Safari is slow to open and close. It also slows down other apps while running. Should I reload safari and if so, how do I do so?

Safari is slow to open and close. It also slows down other apps while it is running. How can I resolve this issue?

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.
If there's no improvement, continue as follows.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Test.

  • Is Safari always running?

I found this question answered before but it wasn't really clear. Couple of questions:
1 - is Safari always running? In other words, do you exit out of it somehow instead of just pressing the home button?
2 - my battery life is very poor. It seems to drain immediately when I use Safari for a few minutes of checking Ebay auction status. From what I've read from other users, they've watched movies and listened to music for hours before it drains. I'm afraid to spend 10 minutes on Safari! Should I try to exchange my battery?
3 - is there some way to put another icon on the "desktop"? i.e. if you wanted a direct button to connect to something else besides the ones that come on it originally?

safari is always running unless you hard close it.i think thats what its called.all you have to do is when you are using an app like safari you need to hold down the home button for like 6secs until it goes back to the main screen.when you use anything like ipod, mail, safari and just push the home button it does not close it,it runs in the background.so to save battery just hold it down for 6secs and it will close everything.hope this helps

  • How do I get other apps to switch to the actual Maps app instead of loading a webpage when I click on an address?

Since upgrading to iOS 6, I've noticed something irritating.  Although I never used Google Maps before, I don't mind using the Maps app now because it provides turn by turn directions.  Yes, I've heard the supposed horror stories, but the thing works fine for me.
However, I have run into a significantly irritating issue.  Whenever I click on an address and it tells me it will launch the Maps app, it doesn't.  Instead, it launches a webpage with Google Maps, which are more than useless as they only provide a list of turns.  How can I get my iPhone to actually do what it is saying it will do and have it launch the Maps app instead?

I'm also on iPhone 4, iOS 6, and have exactly the same problem. I've tried resetting privacy settings, turning restrictions on and off, deleting and reinstalling apps. Nothing seems to work. The lists of apps in privacy settings are all empty, except for location services. When using Tweetbot the app is regularly asking for permission to access my twitter account, but even when I allow that, the app doesn't show in privacy settings. When I try to go into the camera roll from the Facebook app, the app tells me I have to allow access to the camera roll from the privacy settings - which I can't do since the app is not listed there.

  • Safari is running really slow??

When I go on safari it runs really slow? Any suggestions??

The the basics. Pay attention to the last suggestion, and try that one first.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad.

  • HT2534 I want to use an iTunes gift card as the back up for in app purchases for a so called free app instead of my credit card or having my bank account emptied.

I want to use an iTunes gift card as the back up for in app purchases for a so called free app instead of my credit card or having my bank account emptied.
How can I do this? I saw something about gift cards can only be used for music or movies, not apps.

You can use an iTunes gift card for app, music, movies and other media. To redeem one see:

  • I bought and downloaded some music off of the internet on my laptop that uses Windows 8. How can I get my music to open automatically in my itunes instead of opening in the music app?

I bought and downloaded some music off of the internet on my laptop that uses Windows 8. How can I get my music to open automatically in my itunes instead of opening in the music app (the orange sqaure with headphones)? Currently I have had to often downloads and sift through all my files to find the ones I want to open into itunes, and it's irritating.

Media is only where the user puts it.
Installing iTunes does not and has never caused media to magically appear on the computer.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer (or backup of the old computer) to the new computer.

  • I can't search for books or authors on my iphone 6. It says no results found every time. Is there some setting I may have wrong? I have been using my kindle app instead.

I can't search for book or authors in ibooks.  When I search an author or book and click on it a message that says not results found comes up.  Even if I try to look up something popular like Dracula or Twilight.  Is there some setting I should have clicked?  It won't find or download any books at all anymore.  This started about a month ago.  I have been using my Kindle app instead.

    Hi laurieg23,
I see that you are having issues with your connection to the iBooks Store. Here is an article with some troubleshooting steps that will be relevant to your issue, even though the article was written for issues with the iTunes Store:
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update(iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.

I downloaded the iOS7 and I can't force quit the open apps. I was told, "Force-quitting apps is a little different though: Instead of tapping and holding on the icon, you flick a thumbnail up to dismiss it." Unfortunately, that didn't work. Any comments please & thank you

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. Prior to loading 1OS7 it was easy to force quit applications that were still open by double clicking and seeing an a red "x" you had to click on.
It doesn't work that way with the new operating system and the instructions that were given "Force-quitting apps is a little different though: Instead of tapping and holding on the icon, you flick a thumbnail up to dismiss it."
    Do not work.
I am looking for anyone who can help figure this out.
