Safari  no back arrow

Hopefully someone can help. in safari 1.3.2 i have no back button arrow present on my page when i open safari . back button meaning the arrow button that usually sits up in the left hand corner underneath the 3 circles to close/minimize/shrink window, the button that allows you to go back to where you just came from. it is just not there anymore. so everytime i want to go back i have to retype the web addresses again. instead of just hitting
theback arrow button.
17' flat screen imac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

With Safari loaded, look at the View Menu Tab,
Choose "Edit Address Bar"
Drag the Back & Forward button to the address Bar.
Does that work for you?

  • Why have you changed Safari's back arrow?

Since installing Lion (10.7.3) with Safari 5.1.3, I have been really irritated by the "cosmetic" change which makes the enabled back arrow not easily distinguished from the disabled (dimmed) back arrow.  The two are so similar in shade that I have to waste too much of my time trying to understand which state the arrow represents.

Go up to the "VIEW" menu above. Select "Customize Toolbar."  From the resulting pane, highlight the Back/Forward arrows, and drag them to your Safari menu bar.

  • Issue with Safari and using the back arrow with multiple tabs open

I open multiple tabs in Safari but when I'm in a tab browsing and I hit the back arrow, in the new version of Safari, it doesn't just go back to the previous page in the tab, it completely backs out of all the tabs. What am I doing wrong?
I have a PC running Win 7 and the lastest version of Safari.  I launch Safari which opens to my home page (CNN). I then go the News on my menu bar and select Open in Tabs - then tabs for 6 news sites open up. However if I go to one of the tabs and start navigating around the sight and I want to back up a page I click the back arrow like I have always done in previous versions of Safari but instead of backing up 1 page in the tab I'm in, it collapses all the tabs and I'm back with only the CNN tab still open. Its frustrating not being able to backup on page and I can figure out what's going on. I've use Safari for sometime now but only this version is giving me this problem. I tried resetting and reinstalling Safari but still get the same problem.  Any ideas? Its like I'm backing out of tabs instead of pages.

    Thanks for your quick response.
    1) I have the Block Pop UP windows option turned off
    2) I switched Safari to 32 -bit mode and rebooted my iMac but I still can't get the CBS videos to run
The exact message I get in the Hulu or CBS box is:
The video you have requested is either unavailable or is being blocked by an ad blocker installed in your browser.
I have the same problem with the Safari, Firefox and Opera (all are the latest versions.

  • Back arrow not working in Safari

After a recent Maverick update, the 'back' arrow in Safari mostly will not work.  I have to go to 'Home' and start all over in my searches.  Very frustrating and a major waste of time.  Can anyone suggest what to do to fix this so I can use the back arrow each time I need to?  Thanks much.

Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Why have I lost my BACK arrow on Safari?

I am running OS 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.9 and all of a sudden I have no BACK arrow on any Safari page. The only way I can go BACK is to go up to History and select BACK.  Any idea why this has happened?

Try this. Click on View in the menu bar and select Customize Toolbar. Then drag the Default Set on to the tool bar space at the top of the Safari page.

  • Where did my back arrow go in Safari?

When I am on a web site in Safari I no longer have the back arrow that will allow me to go back to the previous page

Delete key usually goes back wards.
Two finger swipe goes backwards/forwards with trackpad.
If you right (control) click in the tool bar area you can restore defaults or customize tool bar.

Have you tried to go to the View Menu (at top) and then choose "customize toolbar".? You can drag the arrows back into the toolbar from there (and anything else you'd like to have there).

  • BACK arrow problems on Safari

Most of the time -- but not all, and with no discernable pattern -- when I hit the BACK arrow button, Safari asks me if I really want to do that. Of course, if I didn't want to, I wouldn't hit the button.
It makes getting around several sites I use -- especially eBay and some academic sites -- so cumbersome to use that it is infuriating.
Any way to get Safari to quit doing that?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab.
Deselect: Ask before sending a non-secure form from a secure website
Quit Safari (Command + Q) then relaunch Safari.

From the sheet that drops down drag "Back/Forward" arrows to the Safari Toolbar.
    Click "Done"
    Best.

  • Back arrow problem in latest Safari when mulitple tabs or open?

I open multiple tabs in Safari but when I'm in a tab browsing and I hit the back arrow, in the new version of Safari, it doesn't just go back to the previous page in the tab, it completely backs out of all the tabs. What am I doing wrong?

I don't think you are doing anything wrong.
Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
Quit Safari. Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Launch Safari. Try tabs.
If that doesn't help, reset Safari from the menu bar. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset. Try again.

  • My back arrow on the task bar went away. How can I get it back?

I think I did some kind of keystroke thing. "remove item" came up when I was trying to back to a previous screen of pictures. I do not think I accepted the command as I was surprised to see it.
How can I get the "back" arrow back?
