Same favorites content in different Java application
Hi all,
The situation I faced is that there are several Java applications with their corresponding JavaHelp running in one machine. I found that the favorites added in the help of application 1 can be seen in the help of application 2 (even I haven't added any favorites for application 2).
According to the JavaHelp Spec, I know that the favorites are stored in the user's directory in the file userdir/.JavaHelp/Favorites.xml, making favorites to be global for all Java applications. However, I don't think that it is reasonable as the help content for different Java application should be different, so as the favorites.
Is there any way that I can have its own favorites for each Java application?
Thanks for reading this.
You can copy a component with the same name in a different application if the two applications are based on different schemas.
Eg: Application1 based on Schema1
Application2 based on Schema2
You can have a form (Say Form1) in both the applications.

Storing chinese in client odb from java application
Hi all,
first i like to thank Greg Rekounas for his wonderful support and contribution....
This is my server setup.
os-windows 2000 sp4
db-oracle 9ir2 (unicode with AL32UTF8 charset)
lite-oracle10g r2 (with latest patchset)
nls_lang- AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8
storing and retriving chinese in oracle 9i database from isql*plus works.
lite configuration.
1. In $OLITE_HOME\mobile_oc4j\j2ee\mobileserver\applications
\mobileserver\setup\common\webtogo\webtogo.ora file edited the JAVA_OPTION
to:
JAVA_OPTION=-Djava.compiler=NONE -Dfile.encoding=UTF8
2. In $OLITE_HOME\mobile_oc4j\j2ee\mobileserver\applications
\mobileserver\setup\dmc\common\win32.inf file, added the following:
a. In the <file> section, added the following:

<src>/common/win32/olilUTF8.dll</src>
<des>$APP_DIR$\bin\olilUTF8.dll</des>

b. In the <ini> section, added the following:

UTF8

UTF8

published the application developed in java using packaging wizard.
downloaded the client in the pc with the following config:
windows 2000 (english)
nls - default.
installed chinese language support.
tried to access 9i database from isql*plus and stored & viewed chinese characters sucessfully.
tried to store a chinese character from java application in the client odb -- failed.
values are getting inserted from the application but when i view them back it shows & # 2 6 0 8 5 ; (i have included a space in between all 8 characters.
but when i copy this no and paste in msword it shows 日(chinese character)
i dont know the exact reason for the above scenerio...................
Also please help me on this too.......
why can i store & view chinese characters sucessfully in isql*plus from the client machine while i cannot do the same on client odb from java application even though the lite config are done to support utf8?
is anything i left out?
should i do any codes changes in java?(java application is of verision jdk1.4_13)
Thanks,
Ashok kumar.GSorry for late replay!! in the SharePoint server both the Claim based and Classic mode is enabled in the server, but still I want to get authenticated via Classic mode just like it happens in SharePoint 2007 and 2010, so do i have to use a different

I can't find Cocoa-Java Application after Xcode Version 3.2.1 install..
Can anyone tell me what happened to all the different Java Applications and Applet selections when File/New Project is selected from Xcode version 3.2.1 64bit? I can't seem to find it. Prior to installing this new version of Xcode, I had full access to all the different Java suites, now I have nothing. Please help, coding seems to compile, I just want to have the choices there for learning purposes. For example:
Ant-based Application jar
Java AWT Applet
Java AWT Application
Java Swing Applet
etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I had just read in the Iphone Developer section that:
+Important: You will need to re-install the iPhone SDK or Snow Leopard if you plan on developing iPhone applications after upgrading your Mac to Snow Leopard and installing Xcode 3.2.+
Would somebody be able to give me installation instructions on installing the http://developer.apple.com/iphone/download.action?path=%2Fiphone%2Fiphonesdk_3.1.2__final%2Fiphone_sdk_3.1.2_with_xcode_3.2.1__snow_leopard_10m2003.dmg.. It looks like at this point I should have kept the previous version I was using and should have done a custom install. Am I allowed to create a folder called /Developer2 and put an older archived version of Xcode in there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,...now I have nothing. Please help, coding seems to compile, I just want to have the choices there for learning purposes. For example:
Ant-based Application jar
Java AWT Applet
Java AWT Application
Java Swing Applet
Changed - Apple has this to say about that:
"The Java templates in the Organizer (Window > Organizer Cmd-Ctrl-O) are still present, however all but one of the Java project templates have been removed.
The JNI project template is the only Java project template that remains, because it builds a native library. The template has also been re-written to be a full graphical Swing application that calls into the native Mac OS X address book. I'd highly encourage anyone who is interested in JNI development on the Mac to check it out.
The only additional developer content we ship for Java is the source and javadoc for the JDK itself, and does not include any templates."
-=-=-=-
To create Java projects w/Xcode 3.2.1 as an example, you must first open Organizer by choosing Window > Organizer. At the bottom of the Organizer window, you will see three buttons.
OrganizerBottomBar
Click the + button on the left and choose New From Template > Java Templates to create a Java project. Click the right button at the bottom of the Organizer to show the editor. Use the editor to write your code. -
Best practice for sharing html content on different group spaces?
How can html content be shared between several group spaces?
One way I have found is to add a html doc to ucm and then to add this doc as a iframe to a page.
Are there other ways, like adding on one group space page a html layout element and then to view this content in a different space. How could this be done, with an expression language reference?
Has someone experience in presenting the same html content on different spaces and can share how he does it. Any ideas are welcome.
Thanks,
MaxHey Max,
Check out our technical whitepaper on Integrating ECM with Portal Technologies.
Our "Fishbowl Portlets" allow you to share any content - HTML, WYSIWYG user generated content, documents etc - in multiple contexts (portlets, web apps, etc).
This is one of the things that we showcased as the recent Collaborate conference in Vegas - WebCenter framework, UCM and the portlets surfacing the same items in different contexts - all personalization aware, configurable and end user/super user editable.
The white paper can be found here:

A blog post on it can be found here:

Can you find out if there is a newer version of the program? Or if other users are having similar problems? -
No Java Application template available
I just installed JSE 8. When I try to create a New Project, The only sample available under the General folder is the Anagram game. The docs say there should be a Java Applcatiot template also.
How do I get a plain vanilla Java App. template?
Thanks.....I also have the same problem, cannot find Template Java Application.
When I install JSE 8.1 on WindowXP OS. In log file, I found no Error.
I'm considering if the Template not free support for developer, or not support to Windows OS?
Thanks

How to get Formatted Mail Content through Java Application
I am using a mail sending function in my applet code which is listed below:
Main content is fetched from a format tool bar in JSP Page and it is passed as parameter to applet and it is used inside the mail content.
Same content when passed and executed in a JSP page, the formatted content is not lost and it is included in mail content as what it is fetched from Format Tool Bar.
Format is lost when it is used inside the Java Application mail sending function.
The below code I have used to send mail:
package com;
import java.util.HashSet;
import java.util.Properties;
import java.util.Set;
import javax.mail.BodyPart;
import javax.mail.Message;
import javax.mail.Multipart;
import javax.mail.Session;
import javax.mail.Transport;
import javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress;
import javax.mail.internet.MimeBodyPart;
import javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage;
import javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart;

String mailarray[]= (String[])tomailsid.toArray(new String[tomailsid.size()]);

Unicode characters in the mail content are replaced by ?.
In the function listed above I have used the MIME Setting as
Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart("alternative");
I have tried by using relative MIME format also as
Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart("relative");
But I am not getting the actual format passed as input to the Java Application in the mail content.
Can anybody let us know how to overcome this problem?
Thanks in advance.You need to really understand how the different multiparts work instead of just guessing.
But for your application, you don't need a multipart at all. Just use msg.setText(msgText, null, "html");
Although that doesn't explain your problem, it will simplify your program.
How are you determining that the mail received doesn't have the formatting? Are you viewing it in a
mail reader (e.g., Outlook)? Or are you fetching it with JavaMail?
Are you using an Exchange server? Exchange will often reformat your message to what it thinks you meant. -
Building and Deploying Java applications in different platform (OS)
Hi all,
We currently have a J2EE based web services application that is built (compiled) and deployed on Windows 2000 Advanced server. But in future, we will be using WIndows 2000 server for development only and HP-UX for production.
So, we are planning on executing the build (compilation) of our application on Windows 2000 server and deploy the same binaries (WAR) on HP-UX also. So, I wanted to know anyone has faced issues in the past by deploying an application on a different platform than the one on which it was compiled. Is it recommended by SUN to compile and build Java applications on the same platform on which the application is deployed.
Note that in my case, the JVM versions between Windows server and HP-UX would be the same. But the JVM for Windows server has been provided by Sun and the JVM for HP-UX has been provided by HP-UX.
Your inputs are greatly appreciated.Well, it's all Java, right? So what's the problem? Since the JVM for HP-UX isn't made by Sun, so there could be compatibility problems, but I would expect that would be minimal if a problem at all. But you can't know unless you run it.
I don't know about building on the different systems. Java's supposed to be write once, run anywhere.... The byte code should be compatible no matter what. I've never heard of Sun saying "compile it on each platform". If the HP JVM isn't going to like bytecode compiled on Windows or another OS, then something isn't kosher with someone's JVM or compiler. -
Timestamp differs between AQ table and Java application
We are having the folllowing situation:
A message is enqueued from a database trigger using DBMS_AQ.ENQUEUE.
A message driven bean dequeues this message immediately. The message is an instance of oracle.jms.AQjmsTextMessage.
I need to determine the time at which the message was enqueued.
To do this, I use the method "long getJMSTimestamp()" .
I expected the returned value to be almost the same as the result of new Date.getTime(), since there is no significant delay between enqueing and dequeing. However, the result of getJMSTimestamp() is about 7200000 (milliseconds) less than Date.getTime(), that is: a two hour difference.
Both methods should return the number of millis in Unix format (since 1-1-1970).
I have verified that the enqueue time stored in the queue table is the same as wall clock time, and is identical to the value of sysdate:
select enq_time,sysdate from queue_table_text_myqueue t
1 09-APR-09 02.14.52.203307 PM 9-4-2009 14:15:02
I have tried two JDK's: HotSpot and JRockit. The chance that Date.getTime() is incorrect in both implementations seems minimal.
The J2EE container is started with arguments:
-Duser.language=en -Duser.country=US.
The database server is configured with the following timezones:
SQL> select DBTIMEZONE from dual;
DBTIME
+01:00
SQL> select SESSIONTIMEZONE from dual;
SESSIONTIMEZONE
+02:00
Client and server run on different hardware. When I execute "new Date.getTime()" simultaneously on client and server the results are identical (give or take a few milliseconds) so I know the clocks are synchronized.
Any ideas?Hi Silva ,
yeah , u can access only Transparent Tables data from SAP, u cannt access data from pool/cluster tables , in such cases u can make use of BAPI/create RFC enabled FMs to give data to ur Jave Application.

How to set Different applications running on the same computer to use different Gateways?
Dear All,
I would like to have different applications running on the same computer to use different Gateways (both gateways are in the same subnet).
Is it possible in Windows7 with / without a third-party utility?
Current scenario & requirements:
I have two internet connections. Both are in the same subnet (192.168.1.0/24) and connected to the same LAN switch
Gateway for the first connection is 192.168.1.1
Gateway for the second connection is 192.168.1.2
I need to set my chrome browser & google talk to use the gateway 192.168.1.1
I need to set my IE & skype to use the gateway 192.168.1.2
Is it possible? Answers are appreciated!!
Regards,
AneesHi,
I agree with Bill. Gateway is essentially an IP address for one network to other networks. For example, you have two networks: network A and network B, to make the two networks communicate with each other, you must go through Gateway. That is, as long
as you set Gateway, then you can make the two networks communicate with each other. The ip address for Gateway is the ip of device with routing enabled. One host machine can own multiple gateways.

Java application - processing files on different unix server
Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to
a) read a file that is on a different unix server to the one that my java application is on
b) move a file from one directory on the remote unix server to another directory on the remote unix server
Regards,
sabretoothfor (b):
If I were you I would set up a FTP account for your app on the remote unix server. Then I would get my hands on a simple ftp framework
and simply:
Ftp ftp = new Ftp("UNIXHostIP", username, password);
ftp.connect();
ftp.moveRemoteFile("form here","to here");
ftp.disconnect();
some frameworks:
JScape, iNet Factory: com.jscape.inet.ftp.Ftp
/n software, IP*Works: ipworks.Ftp
Enterprise Distributed Technologies, Java FTP Client Library: com.enterprisedt.net.ftp.FTPClient
IBM alphaWorks, FTP Bean Suite: com.ibm.network.ftp.protocol.FTPProtocol
SourceForge, JFtp: net.sf.jftp.net.FtpConnection
The Jakarta Project, Jakarta Commons/Net: org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPClient
JavaShop JNetBeans: jshop.jnet.FTPClient
Sun, JDK: sun.net.ftp.FtpClient
Florent Cueto, JavaFTP API: com.cqs.ftp.FTP
Bea Petrovicova, jFTP: cz.dhl.ftp.Ftp
The Globus Project, Java CoG Kit: org.globus.io.ftp.FTPClient
I recomend JScape's INetFactory (Easy to use)
OR the one from Jakarta (Free)
IP*Works (TOP Quality at a price)

Firewalls?
make a folder that is public on the unix server-ie falls outside the firewall if there is one (fire walls might cause problems for you)
Unless you know the password to get through the Proxy then this should not be a problem. -

Received 2 appointments from a customer, same date, same content, just different hours. Since then I receive message from iCal: Access to “Subject” in account “iCloud” is not permitted. The server responded "403" to CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation. In my opinion this is a bug, because iCloud is not able to handle 2 appointments at the same date with same content, just at different hours. The different hours should be enough individuality for each event on calendar.

Here are 4 identical events (other than time) in Calendar on my mac
Here is how they appear at iCloud.com
I concluded that iCloud has no problem with identical events seperated by time, so the question becomes what is wrong with your setup as opposed to what is wrong with iCloud.
