Same image, loaded multiple times: speeding up load time?

I wrote this message before thinking about embedding the
image... I was thinking that putting a relative path automatically
embedded the image, but in retrospect I was wrong, and that will
probably solve my problem. I'll just leave the question here anyway
though:
I'm using image components in my application loaded from a
relative path. The problem is, I have many copies (30+) of the same
image, essentially 30+ identical image components which need to be
loaded/unloaded at different intervals, and they are not loading
fast enough for me. Would it be more effective to duplicate an
existing "master" Image to improve load time instead of explicitly
setting "image.source=" each time? Is there any better solution for
improving image load speed?
Best of all would be some way to pre-cache or buffer images,
so that I can be guaranteed that they will load as quickly as
possible when I bind them to an Image component.
Cheers!

JPGS are much better for photos.  PNGs are good when you need transparency.
Instead of Image Swapping, why don't you use a photo gallery?
FancyBox is nice..  It supports real text captions/descriptions, too.

  • Loading multiple flat file at a time.

    hi experts,
    I am having 15 flat files with same data structure.so how do i load all the fileswith out creating 15 info packges .
    ( say all the files are on the desktop.)
    I had seen the option that ABAP code an be written in info package in extraction tab.
    Can any one share me the abap code
    Regards
    Laxman.

    You can write dynamic code using ABAP if your number of flat files are not fixed...but if you have to 15 flat files always just creating multiple infopackages.
    For code, you have to store file names/name pattern in some table and reading it at run time. You can use function modules starting with BAPI_IPAK* to create/change/start template IP like BAPI_IPAK_START. You can set IP parameters at run time using FM RSBATCH_MAINTAIN_PAR_SETTINGS.

  • Printing Multiple Copies of Same Image on Multiple Pages

    I have Photoshop Elements 11 on a Windows 8 platform.  I can NOT get it to print multiple copies of the same file on multiple pages.  I need one file printed on one page multiple times.  I have tried the CTRL-ALT-SHIFT and nothing changes.  It still just prints one and is done.
    I use this for label printing, so I need it to print more than one copy at a time.  It also is not saving the settings, so everytime I hit print, I have to readjust the print requirements.  This just is not going to work when you need to print a few hundred copies at a time.

    You can create your own picture package, if none of the options in the PSE print window>Type of Print work for you. Just make a blank file, copy/paste your image and alt drag it to make multiple copies. You can use the move tool to position things as you want them.
    Generally speaking, though, for something like label printing, it's simplest to use PSE to create the image, then use your word processing/desktop publishing program to print the actual labels.

  • How Do I put in the same image for multiple songs on iTunes

    Hi,
    I know if I click on the song on "info", I am able to change the album image. Is there a way for me to select multiple songs and do a bulk change with the same image?
    Thanks.

    Yes.
    Select multiple songs, get info and paste the artwork.
    Or select multiple songs and drag the artwork to the artwork window at the lower left of iTunes.

    Hello.
    I will appreciate your recommendation about the way to load multiple files (to multiple tables) using SQL Loader with only one Control file.

  • Loading multiple tables with SQL Loader

    Hi,
    I want to load multiple tables from a single data file using SQL Loader.
    Here's the basic idea of what I want. Let's say I have two tables, table =T1
    and table T2:
    SQL> desc T1;
    COL1 VARCHAR2(20)
    COL2 VARCHAR2(20)
    SQL> desc T2;
    COL1 VARCHAR2(20)
    COL2 VARCHAR2(20)
    COL3 VARCHAR2(20)
    My data file, test.dat, looks like this:
    AAA|KBA
    BBR|BBCC|CCC
    NNN|BBBN|NNA
    I want to load the first record into T1, and the second and third record load into T2. How do I set up my control file to do that?
    Thank!

    Tough Job
    LOAD DATA
    truncate
    INTO table t1
    when col3 = 'dummy'
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    (col1,col2,col3 filler char nullif col3='dummy')
    INTO table t2
    when col3 != 'dummy'
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|'
    (col1,col2,col3 nullif col3='dummy')
    This will load t2 tbl but not t1.
    T1 Filler col3 is not accepting nullif. Its diff to compare columns have null using when condition. If i find something i will let you know.
    Can you seperate records into 2 file. Will a UNIX command work for you which will seperate 2col and 3col record types for you. and then you can execute 2 controlfiles on it.
    Thanks,

    I would recommend running Disk Utility (Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility) and Repairing Disk Permissions. Please run this at least 2x. It that doesn't help then post back, there are many other things to try.

  • Embedding same images across multiple components, best practices?

    Hi Guys,
    Once again a great forum.
    I have a fairly large dashboard application, built from many
    components, from an obvious maintenance point of view this is
    preferred.
    To keep the look and feel the same across each component I
    reuse a lot of the icons, this icons have 3 states, disabled,
    normal and hot(rollover)
    The mouse roll over and roll out are the same for each set of
    icons. At the moment I have each component embed each icon and
    repeat the functions.
    This is not the optimum way to do this so I'm looking on best
    practices. Should I build a separate action script package with all
    the embedded images and roll over/out functions. Then import that
    in to each component. But then I will embedded ALL the images in
    each component. Should I embed all the images in the main container
    app, then when flex sees the same image in a compoent will it not
    embedded again or will it embed the images again..
    In the example below 4 of the components have the same
    refresh icon and roll/over states. So this code is repeated (bad
    practice) in all 4. Moving to separate action-script package will
    make maintenance easier, but as stated above will just one copy get
    embedded for the entire app, or will 4 copies get embedded ?
    [Embed(source="images/refresh_24.png")]
    [Bindable]
    private var refreshIcon:Class;
    [Embed(source="images/refresh_24_hot.png")]
    [Bindable]
    private var refreshIconHot:Class;
    [Embed(source="images/refresh_24_dis.png")]
    [Bindable]
    private var refreshIconDis:Class;
    private function rollOverRefresh(event:Event):void {
    if (event.target.source != refreshIconDis )
    {event.target.source = refreshIconHot;}
    private function rollOutRefresh(event:Event):void {
    If (event.target.source != refreshIconDis )
    {event.target.source = refreshIcon;}
    }

    Flex is able to collate those Embeds so they are only
    included once IIRC.
    While it may seem like bad practice to include it in each
    component, it really isn't, from a code reusability standpoint. But
    you could probably continue on that path and create a custom
    component <mycontrols:RefreshButton> that has the the embeds
    in one place for you.
    You could probably also do something similar with style very
    easily:
    .MyButton {
    overSkin="@Embed(source='../assets/orb_over_skin.gif')"
    upSkin="@Embed(source='../assets/orb_up_skin.gif')"
    downSkin="@Embed(source='../assets/orb_down_skin.gif')"/>
    Then apply that style to your button.
    You could also put the button into a single SWF file in Flash
    and include it that way to reduce the number of embeds. I never
    include PNG, JPG, GIF, etc files directly, always SWF as you get
    better compression that way IMO. Plus I just find it gives me
    greater flexibility...if I want to animate my skins in the future
    (button that gleams for instance), I already have SWF's in my code
    so no need to change anything out but the SWF.

  • How can i load multiple ase files at a time or is there any other adobe software can let me preview multiple ase files

    I downloads multiple color schemes. I want to know if I can open them all at once without opening one by one.

    For sideloaded content the nook pulls the metadata from ePub file itself.  I would suggest looking at a program like Sigil or Calibre that will let you edit the metadata in the book to make it appear like you want.
    For the PDF vs ePub - No, that's the way PDFs work (think of them as graphics, not text), wheres ePubs are Web Pages - so  no you can't them to behave exactly alike without converting the files.

  • Images in multiple projects or other workflow with a similar result?

    Maybe I'm doing this the wrong way, I'm new to Aperture and open to suggestions. What I have is a number of projects each of which contain some images I'd like to submit to a stock site. I thought that the best process would be to create a "Stock photo submissions" project, and copy the images into that. From there I can edit and annotate the photos, for example, noting where they are submitted.
    However, when I drag a photo to the project I get a stern-sounding warning about moving the photo. It does seem to still be linked in the previous project. However one day I might clean up the stock project, and it appears that this would delete them altogether?
    Suggestions?

    Images reside in 1 (and only 1) project.
    You can have multiple albums, and albums can hold images from many projects.
    However, if I were you, I'd use smart albums to do this instead. What I do is to create a keyword (I use _ISC for "iStock Candidate") for each picture I want to consider submitting to stock. Then I create a smart album for all images with that keyword. Voila, it's easy. No needing to worry about where they are. Any time you want to consider the image for stock, just add the keyword (you can use the keywords bar to simplify this).
    I further expand this as such
    _ISC - iStock Candidates (reconsider if I want to submit, then adjust and keyword)
    _ISS - iStock Submitted (photos I've submitted and am awaiting approval)
    _ISR - Photos iStock has rejected (they have a litany of reasons, some frustrating )
    _ISA - iStock Accepted -- on iStock and available for sale
    To "move" an image from a smart album to another, I click on the new keyword in my keywords panel, and then shift-click the old keyword which removes it from the image. Takes about a second.
    I also have codes like this for other stock services -- to ensure I don't submit the same image to multiple services and violate any exclusivity agreements I may have for specific images.
    There may be better ways, but using smart albums is very flexible and an easy way to not have to manually do anything other than click a button.

  • Loading the same image multiple times

    I'm trying to dynamically load a single image multiple times
    into flash. Basically I want to end up with two movieclips mc1 and
    mc2 that contain the image. I'm currently using the Loader
    component (connected to the ProgressBar) to dynamically load the
    image. It works fine for loading the image once but I'm really not
    sure how to go about creating a second movie clip with the image.
    Here's my code for loading the first image:
    var mc1:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
    var listener:Object = new Object();
    listener.complete = function(eventObj:Object){
    nextFrame();
    imageLoader.addEventListener("complete", listener);
    mc1 = imageLoader.content;
    imageLoader.load(imgURL);
    But everything I've tried to load mc2 with that same image
    has failed. I've tried 'mc2 = imageLoader.content', 'mc2 = mc1',
    'attachMovie', 'duplicateMovieClip', calling imageLoader.load()
    twice on the imgURL, and creating a second Loader component and
    loading the image again. All of these methods have invariably
    failed. Most of them can load mc1 alright and sometimes mc2 even
    shows up on the stage but in the AS mc2 is always undefined.
    Can anybody point me in the right direction for loading
    multiple copies of the same image? It really shouldn't be that
    hard, should it?

    Well I figured out a solution. Turns out Flash doesn't allow
    you to duplicate dynamically loaded content like an image in a
    movieclip. But there is a little class called BitmapData that will
    do precisely what I was looking for. Here's the link I got this
    info from:

  • After updating firefox today to 6.0, firefox is unable to load multiple tabs at the same time. When I try, firefox refuses to load any pages, and instead is stuck trying to connect to each page.

    After I updated firefox to 6.0 today firefox has developed a problem loading multiple tabs. When I try to load 10+ tabs, either at the same time or by opening each tab separately, each tab is stuck trying to connect to the desired page. This continues if I close all the tabs and try to load a single page, the single page is unable to get pass connecting. In order to load a new page when this situation arises I must close down firefox and start again, and the program has no history of the previous session.

  • Need help - Loading Multiple instance of the same image

    Hi guys,
    I have been trying for days now, to get this working but i'm not able to do so, i have been trying to get actionscript to load multiple instance of an image file using a for loop.
    Would anyone be able to enlighten me on this?  the other functions are located on a seperate actionscript file.
    many thanks
    part of the code is as follows: (it works if i use the graphic class)
    function makeRoad():void{
        var row:int = 0;//the current row we're working on
        var block;//this will act as the block that we're placing down
        for(var i:int=0;i<lvlArray.length;i++){//creating a loop that'll go through the level array
            if(lvlArray[i] == 0){//if the current index is set to 0
                block = new EmptyBlock();//create a gray empty block
                block.graphics.beginFill(0x333333);
                block.graphics.drawRect(0,0,25,25);
                block.graphics.endFill();
                addChild(block);
                //and set the coordinates to be relative to the place in the array
                block.x= (i-row*22)*25;
                block.y = row*25;
                } else if(lvlArray[i] == 1){//if there is supposed to be a row
                //just add a box that will be a darker color and won't have any actions
                block = new Shape();
                block.graphics.beginFill(0x111111);
                block.graphics.drawRect(0,0,25,25);
                block.graphics.endFill();
                block.x= (i-row*22)*25;
                block.y = row*25;
                roadHolder.addChild(block);//add it to the roadHolder
            } else if(lvlArray[i] is String){//if it's a string, meaning a special block
                //then create a special block
                block = new DirectBlock(lvlArray[i],(i-row*22)*25,row*25);
                addChild(block);
            for(var c:int = 1;c<=16;c++){
                if(i == c*22-1){
                    //if 22 columns have gone by, then we move onto the next row
                    row++;

    @Kalisto - i don't think that is the real issue here since we cannot see what is in the DirectBlock class and the OP has not mentioned any compiler errors.
    Desmond - it appears as though you are constructing this in the form of a 'grid' - correct?  but the problem i believe is that the positioning is not being determined properly - to do something like you want here (i think) you would use what known as a 'nested loop' - this means the 'outer' loop handles iteration of the 'rows' and an 'inner' loop handles the iteration of the columns.  the way you have this set up above, you are attempting to use the 'row' value to position both the row and column - this wont work and it's likely that everything is getting 'stacked' on top of one another.
    may want to structure things a bit more like this:
    function makeRoad():void {
         var index:int = 0;
         for(var row=0; row<22; row++) {
              for(var col=0; col<22; col++) {
                   index = (row*22)+col;
                   if(lvlArray[index] == 0) createBlock(0x333333, col*25, row*25);
                   if(lvlArray[index] == 1) createBlock(0x111111, col*25, row*25);
                   if(lvlArray[index] is String) roadHolder.addChild( new DirectBlock(lvlArray[index], col*25, row*25) );
    function createBlock(color, xp, yp):void {
         var block:Shape = new Shape();
         block.graphics.beginFill(color);
         block.graphics.drawRect(0,0,25,25);
         block.graphics.endFill();
         block.x = xp;
         block.y = yp;
         roadHolder.addChild(block);
    note: i do not know how many 'rows' you intend to have and are stored in the array so the row<22 will need adjustment
