Sample portal startup authentication problem

Hi, I'm having problems getting the Avitek sample portal to run.
When I start the portal via the start script it boots WLS (WL6.1SP1),
prompting for the system password. This is rejected as shown below. I don't
have any problems starting the standard stock portal demo entering the same
password, so it is something specific with the Avitek portal. I've tried
running it on both a Solaris and w2k box with exactly the same result. I've
set up a simple password, ie 'password' for wls. Have found that if I use
the password 'weblogic' it will then boot. However then when I try to run
the loadads script, I get another authentication error.
Thanks, Peter Vines.

The release notes for Linux say that the install fails to reset the
passwords for all but the portalDomain. Perhaps it's the same on other
platforms.

  • Sample Portal and Sendmail

    Newbie here. I loaded the Portal Server and sample portal with out problem (Solaris 9). I created a new user and filled in the props to point to the mail server/user id/password, but the portal does not seem to recognize the sendmail server. Stupid question here but..... Does the standard sendmail mail server recognize the IMAP connections from the portal server? I had other problems where I needed to use fully qualified names rather than just the hostname, think that might be the problem here wrt the mail server?
    I am digging through the manuals, but I figured I would give this a shot as well.
    Thanks for any help you could provide.

    Whoops, wrong forum. How the $%$ did I get in the Forte forum instead of the Portal Forum?
    Sorry.

    I installed WebLogic Server 6.1 SP2 and then Portal SP1, these work
    fine. I then installed the sample portal application and it starts up
    fine. When I try to run the loadads.bat I get this SecurityException.
    Does this have anything to do with the fact that when I run the
    startSamplePortal.bat it asks for a password (which by default is
    WebLogic) yet my system password (from when I installed) is something
    else?

    I completely uninstalled everything and then reinstalled, this time using
    WebLogic Server 6.1 SP1. I also installed to the default directory

    the SP2 that was the problem.

    Web Service Authentication problem
    Posted: Jun 17, 2005 3:32 PM        Reply      E-mail this post
    Hi
    I have created a portal service and exposed this service as a webservice. I am consuming this webservice in webdynpro. Portal service contains 2 simple methods putdata() and getdatat().
    When i access the webservice i am getting the following error.
    "javax.xml.rpc.soap.SOAPFaultException: The User Authentification is not correct to access to the Portal Service com.sap.portal.prt.soap.GlobalData or the service was not found"
    My Enterprise portal server is configured for SSO to back end R/3 system. I have checked for portal service availability and it is fine.
    My Webdynpro and Portal are running on different machines. EP is running on AIX with SP11.
    Any help please.
    Regards
    NagaKishore V

    Hi Shahab,
    Can you reproduce the issue if you create 2 applications. One that exposes a secured web service and the other one the one, consumes the web service? This would help to isolate the issue and move forward in case is a bug.
    Thanks,
    Juan Camilo

  • Weblogic portal external authentication and authorization

    In our project we are using Weblogic portal 10.3 and Oracle 11g as back end. While creating the domain, I have specifed Oracle as back end. All the portal relevant schemas are created in Oracle database. For our application, We have created a specific schema. In a project specific schema, we have user table which containing fields like user name, password, email and other relevant fields. How to configure in weblogic to access this table for authentication instead of the user table in portal schema? As well as I need to know, in a admin console if a new user is created then the details will be stored in a portal schema table or in a project schema user table? Ultimately, I want to configure the project specific table to store the user details when the user created via admin console.
    Need this urgently.

    Hi Rajesh
    Basically you need Custom Authenticator to store and authenticate all your users from your own specific DB Tables (that has user information). For this you need to develop Custom Authenticator. Please note that this has nothing to do with the Portal. This is core weblogic security stuff. I compiled some links for you. Incase if you have Oracle Support, open a ticket with them Oracle support do have a fully working sample custom RDBMS Authenticator that stores and authenticates Users from specific set of custom Tables. They will send you right away. I hope someone in these forums may have this sample also in their personal blogs/forums.
    And, Yes, you can force your Custom Authenticator to be the default one and to store the users when you create the users in Admin Console. Basically when you create the users you should see the option like to create the users in which Authentication Provider like that.

    Hi Mr. BigMAN,
    I'm not sure if the CLOB issue solved by patch_CR067935.zip has this symptom. In any case, you should install
    the patch because you will need it if you are going to use Portal 4.0 sp1 with Oracle. Everyone out there who is
    using Oracle with Portal 4.0 sp1 should install this patch (search for "67935" at this location:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/relnotes/relnotes.htm#246667
    Back to your current problem: Did you run the loadSampleData script? Try running it after you install the
    patch. ( http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/deploygd/oraclnew.htm#1040434 ). Also, make sure you set up the JDBC
    Helper Service for all of the J2EE applications that use JDBC services. (
    http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/deploygd/oraclnew.htm#1064575 ). You need to configure the p13nApp, portal, and
    wlcsApp.
    Let me know if you continue to have problems with this and I'll see what I can do to help.

  • Popup Portal Login / Authentication

    I am having problems finding good examples of how to enable a portal login authentication portlet in a popup window. The scenario, is that I will programatically change a web service to require portal role base security. When this occurs the next time this web service is accessed, it should reject that access or block and pop up the portal login window. When I sucessfully log on, then it should return the results and I can close that login window at my leisure. I do not want to keep the login portlet displayed in the main page of the portlet, it should not appear until it is needed. This is a really urgent request if anyone can help me with this. I really appreciate the help!

    Anyone that is still looking at this, I have figured out how to do the popup in the pageflow. I have collected a username and password and placed it in my formbean. Now I need to get that username and password into the header of a web service using the OASIS ws-security standard spec. There is an example of placing the username and password token into the SOAP header in the weblogic examples, but it uses a java proxy class to call the web service itself. I am currently using a java control to call the web service. I would like to adapt the code in the example called WebServiceBClient.java under the /workshop/samplesApp/proxyClient/WSSE/token directory to be able to perform this action but call the web service from a control.

  • Avitek Sample Portal fails to deploy to any Standalone WLS

    Hi
    The Avitek Sample Portal is a custom portal built using Oracle WebCenter 11g Release 1 and WebCenter Web 2.0 Services. to find out more see link below
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/avitek-sample-portal-086834.html
    I have successfully been able to deploy the Avitek Sample Portal to a JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 Integrated WebLogic Server follow the suggestions/workaround given in the thread below:
    Error Avitek sample deployment
    However the sample application fails to be deployed to any standalone Weblogic server. I have tried to deploy it to an Oracle Webcenter 11.1.1.3.0 instance sitting on standalone WebLogic Server 10.3.3.0 container.
    I have tried to deploy it using both WLST and from JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0. either way the error is the same.

    Rajat,
       Thanks for replying.
       Unfortunately, the problem persists after we restart the SAP Services on both the DTR and CBS servers.  Clearing out memory, etc... doesnt seem to do the trick anymore.  Oncec the CBS comes back up, and we initiate a build on the DC, changes still are not reflected in the portal runtime.
       Are there any cache settings on the Portal itself that handle caching of JSPs, settings that handle when JSPs get recompiled, or any other settings you can think of?
    Thanks.

  • Plumtree Portal Startup Error

    Hi All,
    I am trying to install the WCI on Win Server 2003.
    I followed the step-by-step installation guide provided by Oracle on http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13158_01/alui/wci/docs103/map_wci_win_installguide_10-3/. However, we came across this problem where the portal can't be started after completing the installation and configuration.
    The configuration manager is able to run, but not the portal.
    The startup error log is as follows:
    Diagnostic system initialization OK.
    Portal Startup begins: 15 total tasks.
    Recommendations follow:
    PortalObjectsFactory Initialization Failure (Java)
    RECOMMENDATION: Review the exception listed below for details. Since
    OpenKernel initialized correctly, this usually means that the
    portal database is not scripted or properly configured, or there
    is an installation problem related to JAR files. This may also
    mean the search libraries are not on your PATH or
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Try running ptverify.
    More Detail:
    OpenKernel configuration failure. This usually means INVALID
    DATABASE SETTINGS. Run ptconfig to verify your database connection.
    If this fails, check the web application server user's access rights
    to the file system. Finally, verify the XML settings files are not
    corrupt.

    FYI, we had been uninstalling and re-installing several times, but the same problems occured. So, does any of you faced this kind of error before?
    Your views and opinions are very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Looks like this a Java portal... this error is usually caused by an invalid path or similar problem with environment variables. Since ptverify works, this is even more likely. I would make sure you've followed the preinstall steps. The problem is probably somehow related to you needing to:
    1.) Set the PT_HOME environment variable.
    2.) Add it to your PATH.
    3.) Make sure the application server (Weblogic?) is set up to properly use the above variables (is the user it is running as set up to have above, etc). I would add some echo statements to your application server bat files if you are unsure if these variables are set or what they are.
    4.) Some other environment variable is necessary (i.e. does LD_LIBRARY_PATH contain the /lib/java directory).
    Most of this should be done by the install, but when you are setting up the application server you may need to check this (or if you have reinstalled, run as a different user, etc, this may be different).
    I realize that's kind of vague but this type of error can be harder to diagnose, plus its been a while since I've done a Windows install. Hope this helps...

    Now, we thought this was a domain authentication problem and removed the DEFAULT_DOMAIN setup from the client. Still the client faces ORA-03113.
    As a part of trial, we moved one of the machines which was facing the problem to the domain of the database server and the error is gone.
    But, due to obvious reasons, it is not possible to move all the clients to the domain of database server.
    Is there any way to get around this problem?
    Why is it that only some of the clients are facing this problem?
    Why is it that the error occurs only after idle time and not during work?
    Do we need to set NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN=XXX at client? (I apologize for this question but I am really confused with the matters now)
    Addition info: The database server is Oracle 10.1.0.2.0 and clients are ranging from Oracle 8.1.6 to Oracle 10.1.0. And the errors occur on clients with any version of Oracle.
    Please help us out in this regard.
    Thanks in advance,
    Satish

    I have gone thorugh the Action suggested for this oracle error.
    If problematic machine is shifted to the domain XXX, error is gone,Do you shift physically to some other network?? if yes then there might be a problem with your network. The machines which are disconnected, might be on the same network channel or switch which is creating some problem in your network. this is only luck that your failure occur when there is no activity from that client which is disconnected.
    Shift the places of problem facing client and non-problem facing client with each other and then check. It will clear the mind about the netrowk problem

  • How do I get the Avitek Sample Portal to display in EBCC??

    I have just installed the Avitek Example and everything works fine. I would like
    to add some of my own porlets to the example but I dont know how to include all
    the Avitek Files so that I can view it in the EBCC. It makes things so much easier
    to add and place portlets in different location using EBCC.
    The Sample Portal that originally comes with the installation is already installed
    in the bea\ebcc4.0 directory and I can view all portlets, portals etc on it.
    If anyone can help this is pretty urgent.
    Thanks

    Sorry, Airmail. This didn't address the issue of not showing the first few lines of the highlighted message that disappeared. F8 DOES toggle the list of messages in the top half from longer to half pane but it doesn't show list of messages in top and the first few lines of the message highlighted in the top down on the bottom of the pane. The View menu in, v 31.2.0 anyway, doesn't offer a layout of message option. I went through menu options again and didn't find anything else that would offer this option.
    Oddly enough, the page displays normally in the Sent, Saved & Draft mail so evidently this only affected the Inbox. The search continues....

  • Authentication problem - solved, but maybe a bug in Mac OS X?

    Hi,
    I've a rather small installation with only a handful of users configured on a Mac mini (Mac OS X Server, 10.6.8). All of them use the mail, calendar and addressbook server on the Mac, nothing more. They use it with Mac, iPhone and iPad. Everything worked fine for months but suddenly all of them were faced authentication problems: it was not possible to login on the imap server, the calendar server, the addressbook server. It was possible to login using the admin account on the server directly. Moreover, all users disappeared from the workgroup manager, however they still were available on the servers LDAP server and findable using ldapsearch.
    First, I used to completely restart the server to solve the problem, but it reappeared after only few hours again.
    Second, after understanding more about the authentication process, I found the "killall DirectoryService" was sufficient to solve the problem, but it still reappeared after few hours.
    Then I found the, once the problem occured, there was nearly no more communication to the local LDAP server on port 389 on localhost. When everything was working fine, the was a lot of such communication, including queries for usernames, when a login attempt was made. I started a "tcpdump -n -i lo0 port 389" and waited for the problem again. After the problem occured, I found in the pcap files that there were a few final query attempts, actually attempts the open a port 389 TCP connection to the slapd running on localhost, which were answered with a TCP RST. Then, no more attempts were made until l restarted the DirectoryService. Using the logfile of the slapd I found that this happened exactly at the time the slapd was stopped and restarted. And - surprisingly for me - stopping and restarting the slapd happened exactly once an hour.
    I then found that it happened exactly at the time the time machine backup process was started and indeed it was possible to trigger the event of restarting the slapd by manually starting a time machine backup.
    (Indeed, I switched my backup strategy from SuperDuper to time machine the other day and maybe that was the time the problem occured for the first time. I know that time machine is not considered as the best backup strategy for a server but I wanted to try on my own.)
    Google helped my to find a hint that time machine will actually stop and restart slapd - which is a generally a good idea, since otherwise a backup from some open database files would be made, which could work but may fail. So, I thing, someone of the developers thought about that problem too and has considered time machine for backups of a server.
    However, a not running slapd can not answer queries from a DirectoryService and a stopping or starting process might indeed end up with TCP SYNs answered with TCP RST.
    My solution was to disable time machine again and from that time the problem does not occur again.
    I'm wondering why the DirectoryService process isn't starting to query the slapd again after a failed connection. Isn't this a bug? After this experience I consider time machine as not only the not preferred backup solution for a server but as completely incompatible with Mac OS X server - although, as I said, it seems that someone thought about backing up the LDAP database using time machine.
    (On a Lion server this problem does not occur, the slapd will not be stopped and restarted when time machine is running. Moreover, I saw a com.apple.slapd.start notification in the slapd.log ... maybe this tells DirectoryService to try again.)
    Cheers,
    Wolfgang

    Another problem I found with the MacOS X key bindings: the 6 key doesn't work!
    In the config that ships with SQL Developer, I found this:
    <Item class="oracle.javatools.util.Pair">
    <first class="java.lang.String">DOCUMENT_6_CMD_ID</first>
    <second class="oracle.ide.keyboard.KeyStrokes">
    <data>
    <Item class="javax.swing.KeyStroke">6</Item>
    </data>
    </second>
    </Item>
    which should be:
    <Item class="oracle.javatools.util.Pair">
    <first class="java.lang.String">DOCUMENT_6_CMD_ID</first>
    <second class="oracle.ide.keyboard.KeyStrokes">
    <data>
    <Item class="javax.swing.KeyStroke">meta 6</Item>
    </data>
    </second>
    </Item>
