SAP install as JAVA

Hello Guru:
I finished SAP ECC 6.0 install but I selected as ABAP only.
do I need to install option as JAVA too? is this mandatory.

AS JAVA is not mandatory . The selection of AS ABAP or AS ABAP+JAVA depends on the requirement , but AS ABAP should be good enough for your ECC 6.0 installation.

I know there is http://service.sap.com/scl link which explain the content of each SAP Product and SAP Software Component.
But how do I know if a specifif JAVA Component (example EP Core, SAP MDM Server, ...) can be installed on each SAP AS-JAVA ?

This information is stated in guides but a quick trick can be the following
Go to [https://service.sap.com/sp-stacks] and click on "sp stack download" in the left pane menu.
Then select your product version on right pane for example SP Stack SAP SRM 7.0
This will open a popup window
Fill in start stack and target stack (can be whatever in this case, it's just to check what usage types are available)
On one of the next screen you will have to choose which usage types are installed.
From that screen I can derive that for product "Portal Content SRM" or "SRM Supplier Java" you need component EP Core.

I am trying to install SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version in my windows xp machine.
I have the following error.
Nothing is written in to my E:\usr\sap folder which I have share as saploc and sapmnt.
I read the forum threads on this.
I still do not know how to do this.

Sorry for the delay. I was on vacation.
Which environment variable are you referring to?
JAVA_HOME is set to C:\j2sdk1.4.2_09.
I am using j2sdk1.4.2_09.
Only port changes I tried was
#sapdp01 3201/tcp.
I tried with and without the # .
Both had the same results.
I have given below the last few statememts from the sapinst log file
Any help to solve my problem will be greatly appreciated.

Impact of Installing BI Java on an ABAP only BI 7.0 system

Afternoon Everyone,
I'm looking to answer a couple of questions around installation of BI Java on an ABAP only BI 7.0 system.
Firstly, I am looking for some guidelines around common problems we would expect to see if a BI java stack is implemented on a BI 7.0 system that is currently ABAP only. I would like to be able to gauge the impact of any such exercise, so we can translate that into extra project effort (both technically and functionally).
Secondly, I am looking for suggestions around the areas where the post Java install regression testing should be focused so we can ensure the existing functionality of the system is unaffected by the install & activation of the BI Java stack.
Id be really grateful for any input you would be able to provide around these questions!

Configure more swapspace please and restart the installation.

SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version on Windows Vista

Hello everyone,
I have been trying to install SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version for three days now on Windows Vista Ultimate. Since Microsoft has a new security infrastructure implemented in Windows Vista, it is not that easy to install SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version. Windows Vista has some sort of User-account security. In summary, in Windows Vista, you are logged in as an administrator, but when it comes to change system files or do registry entries, you or respectivly third party programs (e.g. SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version installer) has no rights to do things like registry entries. There is a possibility to rightclick on the setup.bat file and start it in administrative mode, but that doesn't change a thing.
I hope you guys get my problem.

Windows Vista isn't on the support matrix of SAP Netweaver 2004s!
you may play arround with regedit and chaning the security settings of SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DPS key. SAPinst is doing a KEY_ALL_ACCESS when enumerating the services registry.
Starting with Vista some registry values have special protection which do not allow administrators to open them with KEY_ALL_ACCESS.

Hi,
I changed the system name but still I am getting the same error. Previously there was an SAP system was installed in my pc later I uninstalled that, but still there are two SAPsid_00 and SAPsid_01 (where in sid is MS) is running. I think this is the problem. I disabled the services as well but still I am getting the same error during the installation. How to delete the windows services ? and how to do a clean up for registry ?. I feel if I do theses two then I can install.

Best practice to install Bi-Java

We are in the process of designing the system landscape for our client. We have installed NW04s usage type EP on one server. Now we need to decide on where to install the BI-Java usage type. So:
1. Is adding BI-Java on the existing EP usage type is recommended
2. What is the best practice:
a> EP and BI-Java on the same server
b> EP and BI-Java on separate servers

Hi,
When you install BI JAVA, it will have its own EP and AS JAVA usage types under it. You have no option with this as they are required to run BI JAVA (just like you have AS ABAP under the BI usage type).
The decisions you do have are:
1. Should BI JAVA be installed on the same server as the BI usage type? (this is your choice)
2. Should you use the EP usage type within the BI JAVA for your enterprise portal deployment or just keep it dedicated for BI usage only and use a separate EP usage type for your enterprise portal deployment. (most customers will do the latter option due to patching and upgrading options).
Please see the SAP NetWeaver 2004s master guide for more information. In addition we are updating the master guide with more information on this area. It should be published quite soon.

Installing the Java Add-In for an existing abap system

Hi, Currently we are Installing the Java Add-In for an existing abap system.
Following the steps (Installation guide):
1) We sucessfully installed the Central Services Instance (SCS)
2) We sucessfully Installed the Database Instamce Java Add-In
Our problem comes in the third step
3) Central Instance Java Add-In
When the system prompts me the SAP System Identification (Select the central instance of your local host).
I have a combo with two values: DVEBMGS00 of SAP System DEV and DVEBMGS00 of SAP System DEV
(The same value)
I chose anyone, and click next.
The system send me an Input error and says "Caught EKdException in Module call: single select return more than on row"
Any help is appreciated, and I will reward points if helpful.

after to delete the files, I have the following files

Then, I restarted the installation, and the sapinst allow me to continue with the installation.
I really do not know if the installation will be sucessful, but this issue is solved.

I got a message that the instalation was succesfull. But after clicking the iview with the transaction the iview freezes and the transaction is not displyed. Any ideas where could be the problem?

Install BI Java Add-in for ABAP system error

Dear all:
I want to install Java Add-in for my ABAP system. My ABAP is SR3
Nw04s. During the CI install for Java Add-in steps: install software
unites, i got one error like this:

Need to install BI Java on existing NW server

Dear Experts,
We have installed AS (ABAP + JAVA)+EP and upated with BI content and patches,
our BI consultant wanted to create reports using Bex, which requires BI JAVA. I tried to install it using sapinst , In the input phase i select AS Java , BI JAVA and EP on the next screen i gave the SID (of Existing server TBI) then it gives the message saying
DATABASE SCHEMA
Database objects have been found in the database schema (SAPTBIDB) used for this installation , you must delete these objects or use another database or sap sid as entered in the previous dialogs
clean up database schema [check box]
Here the question is how do i install BI Java on the Existing Netwear server.
please advice at the earliest.

Here the situation is we now we have AS AbapJavaEP,
We have to do some configuration to work with Bex Reporting,
If BI Java is not required , please let me know what configurations i need to do.

How to install AS JAVA to exsting AS ABAP

A task is assigned to me to fulfill the requirements of BW consultant for preparing the DASHBOARD.
I got the below requirements from him :
1. NW04s with J2ee engine
2. Configuration Of ICM
3. BI Content 3.5.3 SP6
4. NW04s SPS14 (Visual Composer)
5. Enterprise Portal 6.0 Or 7.0
My current BW system configuration is: -
OS: - SUN Solaris
Database: - Oracle 10g
SAP: - Ecc 6.0 SR1 (ABAP)
*SP level: -
SAP_BASIS: - SAPKB70011
SAP_ABAP: - SAPKA70011
SAP_APPL: - SAPKH60003
SAP_BW: - SAPKW70012
My queries regarding above requirements are
1. I already have installed BW on ECC 6.0 (ABAP),Can I install JAVA stack in existing ABAP system? How ?
2. How can I configure the ICM?
3. What is BI content 3.5.3 SP6 & how can I install it?
4. How can I install Visual Composer (NW04s SPS14)?
Please help me to understand the above queries to fulfill the requirements.

A. Yes. You can install BI java stack as a separate Instance like ABAP instance. Just run the ./sapinst and select java stack.
2. How can I configure the ICM?
A. Use tcode:SMICM and check the all services. Then use tcode = SICF and activate all , Right click on Default option and select activate all servies.
3. What is BI content 3.5.3 SP6 & how can I install it?
A. BI_CONT 3.5.3 is used for extra features of BW.
Use tcode = SAINT, then install BI_CONT3.5.3 based on steps.
4. How can I install Visual Composer (NW04s SPS14)?
A. Its simple. Better download visual Composer installation from SMP(http://service.sap.com/download or http://help.sap.com)
