SAP - ORACLE 10.2 DB CONNECT WITH TOAD

Dear Friends,
Is possible to use Toad sotware (for accessing tables & write query to get data from table) in SAP Oracle ?
Will it create any log or log file in Oracle or in SAP iteself ?
Kindly, suggest me.
Suppose, if you know any other query software to connect SAP oracle, kindly, get back to me.
Thanks & Regards,
SHIJO K PRAKASH

Hi,
It is not allowed to use 3rd party tools to access the Oracle database if it has been purchased via SAP (if it is not, then you should check the specific licence you have)
this is explained in detail in the SAP note 581312 "Oracle database: licensing restrictions" and in several posts in this forum

  • Oracle 11 can not connect with toad

    Hello to all,
I just installed oracle 11 on my pc running vista. I can connect to the data base using sqlplus but not with Toad (version 8.6.1). I enter user and password and nothing happens. Not even an error message. I was using previously oracle 10g with toad and never had a problem.
Can anybody tell me how to make toad work with oracle 11?

    hi,
thanks for you answer. Since i was experiencing problems, i just rollbacked to version 10g but i'll try your suggestion later.
    Thanks again.

  • SAP ECC 6.0 IDES connectivity with internal BI server

    Hell All,
We have a connectivity issue for SAP BI with ECC. we have a sap ECC6.0 EHP3 instance running in the customer landscape used for training requirement. In the ECC 6.0 we do also have SAP BI server in the same instance. Now customer want to use the same BI server which is in the same SAP ECC 6.0 IDES without installing an additional instance just for training purpose. As a part of the acitivty we do need to know whether we can configure the BI to R/3 data extraction for this instance. ECC have 800 client and BI also works in the same 800 client. Can we configure the SAP ECC to BI source system configuration and do the R/3 to BW data extraction scenarios. also want to know whether we can do the Process chains and other stuff for training requirements.

  • Free oracle client with Toad?

    Hi,
I have licensed vesion of Toad available. Do I need to purchase oracle client - or is there a free version of oracle client that can work with toad without any cost? My database is Oracle 10.2.0.4 on Solaris 10. I read about instant client but I don't know if that can work with toad and I have no experience on it.
    Thanks,
Edited by: orausern on Jun 28, 2011 10:02 AM

Licensing questions should really be directed to whoever deals with Oracle licensing in your organization or to your Oracle Sales rep. The answer may depend on a variety of factors including the country you are in, when you purchased licenses from Oracle, what sort of licensing agreement you have, special stipulations that were negotiated in your licensing agreement, etc. If there is an audit, explaining that you relied on some random guy on the internet with a playing card logo next to his name for legal advice is a career limiting maneuver.
In general, Oracle does not license client machines. The database is licensed either by the number of users allowed to connect (not simultaneous users or Oracle database users but the number of human beings that are allowed to connect to the database via some application) or by the number of processors in the database server. So you generally don't need to license anything to install the Oracle client assuming that you as a human are licensed to connect to the database.

  • Lost connection with db, restarting Weblogic

    hi,
we have an server with oracle and whenever the connection
with the db is lost for any reason and then comes again in a while the weblogic needs to be restarted again.
i would love if someone could give me a tip of what excactlly weblogic is "loosing" from the connection or how i may run a script or anything so this to work automatically(mean to startup weblogic again).
thanks anyway for reading my problem.

    Hi,
Along with enabling "Test Reserved connections", also ensure refresh connections is enabled. Test Reserved Connections tests the connection only when a client makes a request while refresh connections ensures that all unreserved connections are also tested.

  • SAP EP 6.0 SP12 Integration with SAP SRM 4.0

    Hi Buddys,
When I am trying to create system in SAP EP for the backend SAP SRM Server using SAP Wizard in SAP EP, and testing the connection with test connection option, test is always failing.
In system creation wizard (SAP system for dedicated application server), values for connector, user managemnet have been maintained as mentioned in How to guides for SAP EP and alias for system has been created.
SAP EP has been installed with option to use SAP Backend SRM Server for Users. After SAP EP Installation, all SAP users in back end SAP SRM can be seen in SAP EP.
    Software versions:
    SAP EP :  EP 6.0 SP12
    SAP J2EE Engine : J2EE engine 6.4 SP13
    O/S : Windows 2003 Server
SAP SRM : SRM 4.0 on SAP WAS 6.4
Your help in this regard is much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Prasad

    Hi Venkat,
When you create a system choose "SAP system using dedicated application server".
The minimum parameters for creating the system are
    application host
    Logical System Name -
    Logon method - UIDPW
    SAP System ID
    SAP CLIENT
    SAP System Number
    server port
    System NAme
    System type - SAP_R3
user mapping type - admin, user
Create an alias, specify the userid and password for the system in Personalization and then do the test for the connection.
Even then if it fails you can go to Sys Admin--> Support --> Sap Application --> SAP Transaction
choose the system, specify the tcode, specify the gui type and hit go. If you execute the transaction code then the connection is OK.
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks,
    Praveen

    Hi All,
Would like to check a question with you. As I know SAP IDM can be connected with SAP GRC for risk analysis during user request. Does anyone know if there are any other IDM solutions (other than SAP IDM) which can be connected with SAP GRC and do risk analysis during user request?

    Hi Ankur,
Thanks for your reply. As I understand the GRC adapter in ITIM works only with SAP resource (please correct me if I am wrong) and not any other ERP or non-ERP resource. Is there any way so that I can directly use webservices with ITIM without using ITIM adapter.
    Hi Frank,
If I can integrate the webservice directly with ITIM, then what I can do is using the risk analysis find out what are the roles which violates the SoD. If web services can return that, then I can use the following steps:
    - Create a Life cycle rule to find all the violations.
    - Once violations are identified then send an approval for the violations.
    - If this are approved, then the role can remain with the person.
    - If rejected then the role will be removed through the life cycle it self.
Please let me know if what I think can be done and is feasible.
Thanks to all for your replies.

  • Install Oracle 10g with Toad 9.1

    Hi All,
I am a novice in database(SQL,PLSQL) programming and hence want to learn and practise very deeply in detail for which i want to install Oracle 10g client with Toad 9.1.So need your advise on the process.
(a)Do i need to download entire Oracle Enterprise Edition Installation for Vista? I have read in one of the forums that downloading only the Oracle Client is enough?
    Can you please advise me?
(b)I already have the TOAD 9.1 setup with me which i can install. But,i do not know that how will i use TOAD interface and connect to the oracle database.
(c)Also, any sample script/database with some tables that i can use for learning complex SQL query writing would be very helpful. In brief-any project that i can work on in building all the requirements by writing SQL which simulates real time scenarios of SQL development.
Please help me ,i am struggling.
    Thanks

    Hi all,
Thanks a lot for all your inputs. Its very useful and presently I am following the steps suggested.
I had another doubt with respect to this. While attending a oracle course, the instructor had told about an installation option of installing oracle 10g on Linux using VMware/virtual -i am sorry i am not sure about it.
So,can you please give your inputs about this process as I dont know about how to setup?
(a)What are the tools that i will need to build a virtual machine in my present computer with Linux as the OS?
And,what are the steps we need to do ?
(b)How do i use a vitual machine if i install it? I mean how will it work?
(c)Then,at last how do i install Oracle with Linux on that?

  • Connect Non-SAP Oracle db (32bit) in sql 2005 (64 bit) using linked server

    Hi,
I am connecting Oracle 10g database from SQL 2005 using linked server, in which i get the error
"Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "L2ORACLE".
OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "L2ORACLE" returned message "Oracle client and networking components
were not found. " (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7303)
SAP Server with sql 2005 db is in 64 bit server / Windows 2003
Non-SAP Oracle 10g is in 32 bit windows 2003 server.
i have installed Oracle 64 bit client in the SAP Server and also copied the 64 bit version of dboraslib.dll to the DIR_LIBRARY path. I am able to view the oracle tables in the oracle client.
But, when i create the linked server, it gives the above error.
If i install 32 bit version of Oracle client in the SAP Server, i am able to create the linked server in the db level, but, it says "Work Process restarted, session terminated" message in the Z program in SAP.
The same works in the test environment where both are 32 bit servers. problem is when SAP server is in 64 bit and non sap is in 32 bit.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nagu

check the workprocess traces for errors (and/or SM21). It seems that the system is "not aware" that an Oracle client is installed.
64bit programs can´t load 32bit libraries/DLLs that´s why the workprocess dumps when you use the 32bit client.
