  • JDBC Connection for Oracle

    Hello Experts,
I'm having some trouble getting a JDBC connection to work correctly and I am in need of some advice.
    Background:
I have setup a test Portal 7.00 SP14 with an Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 database on a Windows 2003 X64 server.  The Portal system was up and running and connecting to a WAS6.20 systems.  We do not have BI or XI in our landscape.
I needed to connect to an Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 database from visual composer to read some data from tables to do a proof of concept. From what I understand this connection will be a JDBC connection.  I have setup a new system using the JDBC template, assisnged an alias, and entered the connection URL .  I was unable to connect.
I read that I need to add the driver using Visual Composer.  I did so with the following instructions:
    Install JDBC Driver
    • Start the Visual Administrator
    • Logon at WebAS
    • Open: Server, Services, JDBC Connector, Drivers
    • Choose “Create New Driver or DataSource” on the toolbar
    • Specify an arbitrary name for your driver entry such as “OracleDriver” and click OK
    • Now search for the Oracle JDBC Driver JAR file on your local harddisk.
I restarted the Java instance with SMICM after completing this task Java will not start.  Is there anyway to roll back that change to get Java back up and running?
Also is there a better way to go about making this oracle connection?
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
although [this guide|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/92d80512-0a01-0010-32a3-cd3735bd9275] is for Visual Composer I find it very helpful in setting up JDBC connections to databases. There is a very deltailed section about setting up a system to a MS SQL Server and the relevant data if you want to connect to Oracle:
4.2 BI JDBC Connector to Oracle
    Located at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/index.html
    Driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    URL: jdbc:oracle:<drivertype>:@<database>
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@myhost:1521:orcl
    Hope this helps,
    Holger.

  • ClassNotFoundException: com.sap.portals.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver

    Hello,
    (Running NW04SP14)
I am trying to use the jdbc class in my code as follows:
    Class.forName("com.sap.portals.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
    I am getting a ClassNotFoundException.
Could you please tell me what do I need to do to import this class for all my portal components?
Do I need to physically include a jar file, if so where can I find it?
Should I include a sharing reference in my code?
    Thanks.

  • Error when SDM JDBC driver for Oracle

When deploying the JDBC driver for Oracle on PI 7.0, I failed to achive. I got the following trace information from SDM.
After checking the system directory structure, I found that very interesting thing. First I downloaded aii_af_jmsproviderlib.sda from the directory of ../SAP AG/0/3.0...and zip oracle jdbc driver into it, and I deployed the sda file with SDM back to the system with the option update deployed SDAs that hava any version. Curious the sda file was put into another directory of ../SAP AG/1/3.0... a new directory which was just created during the deployment.

If yes please give me a hint
    Have a nice day!

Thanks guys for the quick responses.
But I have tried both the options for putting the jar in Third Party and also by uploading using the OOTB utility UploadJar.sh.
But it is giving the same error.
I have tired rebouncing the server and also Purge cached, but no success.
Just to mention again, I have tried with all the last 3 postgres JDBC4 driver available on the site (u mentioned).
    So, any other clue?

  • Attunity connectors for Oracle in Import Export Wizard in SQL Server 2008 R2

Is there a way we can see the Attunity connectors drivers in the Import/Export Wizard (64 bit) for SQL Server 2008 R2?
Although I made it work for SSIS, I would need these drivers in the Import/Export wizard so as to automate it for numerous number of tables which I want to migrate.
Can the Attunity connectors for Oracle be used in the Import/Export wizard? If so please let me know.
    Regards,
    Ashutosh.
    Ashutosh.

I have 100 tables to migrate. Creating a data flow for each table is tedious and that's why I was looking out for a way to do it through import export wizard so that I don't have to create a separate data source and destination for each table in the Data
    flow Task.
Is there a way to loop through all tables and transfer data in SSIS without having multiple sources and destinations created for each table? This also involves a bit of transformation as well.

  • How can I install JDBC drivers for Oracle?!?....

i have a program that has this line:
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;
that gives this error when I compile it:
    package oracle.jdbc.pool does not exist
So I think I need to install JDBC drivers for Oracle. (?)
    I went here: [http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc_111060.html]
and downloaded the files for JDBC Thin.
    Then I followed this: [http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/111070_readme.html]
by entering these commands (I'm using Ubuntu):
    export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/path/to/files/ojdbc6.jar
    export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/path/to/files/orai18n.jar
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/path/to/files
When I type echo $CLASSPATH I can see that those commands worked, but it hasn't made any difference when I try to compile.
I still get the same error. Is it because I didn't do anything about the .so files? The readme page didn't mention them in the installation section.
Please help! I am so stuck...

I don't think you need the shared libraries (.so files) and given what I saw when I glanced at those pages, I don't think they'd even work for you, although maybe I just didn't read enough of it.
    What happens when you type
    javap oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceon the command line?
How are you invoking javac? Are you perhaps passing a classpath argument?
Are you sure that the path to the jar files is correct? Are the paths relative?

  • BI - JDBC connector for remote database.

    Hi,
I am trying to use my portal oracle database in VC applications. I have successfully connected to the database using JDBC connector as well as BI-JDBC connector. However when I try to use this BI-JDBC system in SQL editor I cannot see any tables. I have created JDBC and BI-JDBC system objects in the portal and the connection test is successful for both the systems.
I am using BI-JDBC connector so that I can see the tables and write select queries which I can use in VC applications. Using JDBC connector I can see only the stored procedures. So tried using BI-JDBC connector.
Is there anyway I can see the tables and views in the oracle database in the VC applications.
    Thanks in advance.
    Aamod.

    Hi,
The DB user which I am using, can query the database from SQL PLUS. So he can see the tables and everything. But when the same user is used for mapping with portal user the tables cannot be seen.
When I select the system in VC and click on "Browse Table Catalog" I get the following structure.
    BI-JDBC
       |- 0
          |- 1.
And below 1 theres nothing. When I select "Tables" and search *, it says "Search returned no result".
    Please advice.

  • Problem with JDBC driver for Oracle 10g

    Hi.
I've successfully accessed a MySQL database via a DataSource from a servlet (that uses a DAO). However, when I try to do the same with an Oracle 10g Database, I get the error message:
Cannot load JDBC driver class 'oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver'
I'm using J2SE1.5.0/5.0 and ojdbc14.jar, the latter of which I downloaded this afternoon as the latest driver JAR available on the Oracle site. As with the MySQL driver, I've placed it in the commons\lib folder within Tomcat. (I've also, of course, made the necessary modifications to server.xml and web.xml.)
Upon examining the ReadMe file at the top of the Oracle download page, I found that the oracle.jdbc.driver package is now deprecated and all references to oracle.jdbc.driver should be replaced with oracle.jdbc. However, I got a similar error message when I tried this modification. Upon examining the contents of ojdbc.jar, I found that the driver was there and that it was, in fact, still oracle\jdbc\driver\OracleDriver!
It appears as though the Oracle site has not been updated with a driver that matches its latest documentation. However, this does not explain why the driver is not even being loacted when it is in the correct place. Can anybody shed any light on this? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Cheers.
    Jan

I've successfully accessed a MySQL database via a
DataSource from a servlet (that uses a DAO). However,
when I try to do the same with an Oracle 10g
Database, I get the error message:
Cannot load JDBC driver class 'oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver'
    That's different from a ClassNotFoundException.
    >
    I'm using J2SE1.5.0/5.0 and ojdbc14.jar, the latter
of which I downloaded this afternoon as the latest
driver JAR available on the Oracle site. So you got ojdbc14.jar or ojdbc14_g.jar under the 10g drivers?
    As with the
MySQL driver, I've placed it in the commons\lib
folder within Tomcat. I think it's a better idea to put in the WEB-INF/lib directory of your Web app rather than commons/lib. WAR files are a very good idea, too.
(I've also, of course, made the
necessary modifications to server.xml and web.xml.)So you're using a JNDI data source? It sounds to me like that's where the problem is.
You should not have to edit the server.xml at all. If you put the <ResourceParams> in a context XML file with the same name as your WAR file into the TOMCAT_HOME/webapps directory it'll be picked up automatically. (It might also be accessible in the META-INF directory for your app, but I haven't done it that way.)
Upon examining the ReadMe file at the top of the
Oracle download page, I found that the
oracle.jdbc.driver package is now deprecated and all
references to oracle.jdbc.driver should be replaced
    with oracle.jdbc.
However, I got a similar error
message when I tried this modification. Upon
examining the contents of ojdbc.jar, I found that the
driver was there and that it was, in fact, still
oracle\jdbc\driver\OracleDriver! The fully-resolved class name you should be using MUST match the class that's in the ojdbc14.jar that you're using. Look in the JAR for the definitive answer: the one that I downloaded is still using the oracle.jdbc.driver package for OracleDriver.class. Ignore the docs - use the name that's in the JAR.
It appears as though the Oracle site has not been
updated with a driver that matches its latest
documentation. That often happens with docs.
However, this does not explain why the
driver is not even being loacted when it is in the
correct place. Can anybody shed any light on this?
Any help would be much appreciated.I think the problem lies in your web.xml and server.xml
I'd recommend that you decouple the JDBC from the Web app for now. See if you can connect to Oracle using a simple desktop app and leave the Web piece out of the equation for now. Once you can do that, you'll be certain that the parameters you're using are correct and you can turn your attention to getting the Tomcat configuration right.
PS - I'm using Oracle 9.2.0.1 and Tomcat successfully right now, so it can be done.
