SAP R/3 much compable on Backend databse Oracle/SQL

Hi,
We are going to start SAP R/3 new dimensional products implementation. Client wanted to know that which backend databse is very much compatable for SAP.
If some one have much idea on that can please help different comparisions on SAP On Oracle / SQL .
Thanks
kristene

Hello Kristene,
I cannot explicitly recommend any database over others, but since I work with MAXDB, I thought I can give you knowledge on its features.
MAXDB (i.e. SAPDB) is very easy to administer, requires no reorganization, and is quite easy to learn (especially by those who have worked with other databases). There are also SAP classes you can take to learn more about MAXDB.
It has all the technical features needed by an SAP database (ACID-compliant, supports transactions, views, triggers, procedures), works with external backup tools, etc. SAP contributes significant development efforts towards MAXDB. Support for SAP customers is provided by SAP like any other SAP product. MAXDB has a full set of administration tools, and is also integrated into the SAP CCMS monitors.
As others have mentioned, it is also the least expensive database for SAP to run on, because of lower license and maintenance fees.
For more info, please see https://service.sap.com/maxdb --> on the LHS menu, click on 'MaxDB' --> 'MaxDB/SAP DB Customers' for a list of helpful documents.
Please let me know if you've any questions about MAXDB.
Thanks,

    Hi Zhang,
If i have understood your question properly, I guess you wanted to create Purchase Requistion automatically right?
Then you have lots of option simpilest one would be create a couple of Z table with all the fields that you require for header and Item.
create a Program and use BAPI function module to create the PR by reading the values from those Z tables. after creation delete the contents from the table. Schedule this program in Background periodically like everyday or weekly once however you would like it to be. So once the table has contents in it and when the program runs it will create the PR's (Purchase Requisition).
You can also use a workflow with the Z table. Once the Z table is filled you can trigger a workflow based on the Table change. I'm not sure like how to do it but I nkow that this process can also be used.
Hope this might have thrown some light upon.
    Thanks,

  • Installing SAP R/3 4.6C SR 2 on Oracle 10.2 On HP-UX 11.31 Platform

    Dear Expert,
I want to migrate our old SAP system 4.6C from HP-UX 11.31 and using Oracle 10g. The export process has be done successfully.
When I tried to install the central instance, the problem occur. After run command ./R3SETUP -f CENTRAL.R3S in the step DBCOMMONPARAMETERS<PRODUCT>_ID_ORA, the installation asked me to choose the version of Oracle instance to be installed. But the available option only Oracle 8.0 or oracle 8.1.7 and I can not find the other options. I have read the sap not 946141, the note says that for oracle version 10g, i have choose version 9.2.0. But like i said earlier the available options only for oracle 8.
For this installation I will use kernel 46D_EX2_64bit, and i have downloaded the latest kernel.
Is there any script that i should change?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Waverly,
No, I have the install doc, what I can't find is the actual installation files.
Seperate sources indicate it is either already available or not available until August.  I suspect the later is the case, since we aren't in ramp up.

  • Driver to connect from SAP PO 7.4 on Sybase to third party SQL anywhere 12

Hi All, We have PO 7.4 on Sybase 16.01 and wants to connect third party SQL anywhere 12(Sybase). We have already the Driver: jconn4.jar in the location --> /usr/sap/SID/J00/exe/sybjdbc in the PO system. Do we need to have any other driver for connection from SAP PO 7.4 on Sybase to third party SQL anywhere 12(Sybase). Please suggest. Regards, Karthik.

    Hi Karthik,
I guess PO comes from Process Orchestration with Netweaver ?
Anyway to be able to connect to a remote database, from Netweaver you need a DBSL. It comes with Netweaver kernel: the lib_dbsl required to connect to ASE and IQ (and IQ uses SQLAnywhere ODBC), but there is not specifically to SQLAnywhere (even if the ODBC used for IQ is the ODBC of SQLAnywhere). I guess that *maybe* you can try using your current Sybase lib_dbsl. I don't know how you configure remote connections from PO (with Netweaver it would be done with DBCO t-code) and to be honest I won't be sure it is a supported remote connection.

    Victoria.

  • SAP GUI for SAP BW 3.5 on linux RHEL 4 oracle 10.2.0.2 & kernel 6.40

    Hi all,
Pls let me know wat version of SAP GUI can i use for "SAP BW 3.5 on linux RHEL 4 oracle 10.2.0.2 & kernel 6.40" and where can i find it in service market place.
    Thanks in advance.
    Praveen

    use my links:
    software is located at ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapgui/win/640/compilation5
    patch is at ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapgui/win/640/patches
in summary you need to download and install these components in this order:
    1. ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapgui/win/640/compilation5/50078731_4.zip
    2. ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapgui/win/640/patches/gui640_26-10001615.exe
    3. ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapgui/win/640/patches/bw350_12-10001615.exe
so, you install SAPGUI, patch SAPGUI, patch BW add-on from SAPGUI.
about your 23/24 patch question, you only need to install the latest, so, that would be patch 24 in your case... but you should install the latest one which in patch 26. use my links!

As Justin had given the reply.
See, Basically you instance depends on the SGA and PGA, If you want find out the Current Instance values, you need to Calcuate the Values Configure for your instance from V$parameters values you can get it.
    SGA will depends on the (DB_CACHE_SIZE + LOG_BUFFER + SHARED_POOL_SIZE + LARGE_POOL_SIZE + JAVA_POOL_SIZE)
Rest of things you need to understand what is an instance and further. Refer the link so that it will help you understand the things

  • Installation of SAP Netweaver 7.0 with SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.70 backend

    Hello everybody,
I need to install an SAP Netweaver 7.0 environment for a client who is currently using SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.70. However, I couldn't find any document about the compatibility of the two.
Does anybody know if it is possible to connect these versions of Netweaver and R/3?
Could you please tell me where I could get some documentation about it (for example : intallation guide of netweaver with SAP R/3 4.7 or docs about netweaver and R/3 4.7 connectivity) ?
    Thank you.
    Stan

    OK thanks.
The final need is to be able to create purchase requisitions or purchase orders in the enterprise portal with a simplified user interface for users who are not used to working with SAP and don't have the SAP client installed on their computer.
So they will use their web browser to connect to the portal and create the requisition for example. Then we wan't the data to be stored in the R/3 backend et other users will validate the requisition and deal with the rest of the process.
The second step will be to study the benefits we could get from installing Adobe document services and creating an adobe interactive form to simplify even more the user interface. The users would then fill the data for the purchase order or requisition directly in the form that looks like the form they get when printing.
I saw that we have to install the "R/3Plug-In 2004.1" in the backend to use our SAP 4.7 as a data source for the Portal.
Do you know if there are other steps to perform in the backend before we link it to the portal ?
    Thank you
    Stan

  • SAP Archiving - Migrating from one archive backend to another.

    Hi,
We use SARA for archiving and the archiving system is IBM Provided Filenet Database with ACSAP middle-ware.
From 1999 till 2009 we have archived terabytes of data into Filenet Database.
We plan to discontinue Filenet as our choice of archiving backend system and will like to migrate all existing archived data to the new archivingsystem. We are yet to decide what new system will will move to.
We are looking for help from SAP to answer following questions:
    1) Is it possible migrate all past data from existing archiving system to a new one?
    2) If Yes, then what is the broad approach? Does the data have to be retrieved back to SAP OR Can it be directly migrated from one backend to another one?
Retrieving the data and reloading into another tool in my opinion would be rather cumbersome and stupid method until this is the only option.
In Any case, at the end of day we want that all the data should be readable from SAP like before.
    3) Is there any SAP provided tool that we can use rather then going for a 3rd party product?
    4) Please guide to migration related documentation.
Thank you in advance for your support.
    Regards,
    Chandra.

    Hello Chandra
yes- there are ways to migrate data out of Filenet into 3rd party tool without retrieving them back through SAP. I am not aware of any SAP tool itself but we have one and could help you with this effort. Please contact me at 610 3508677 and we can discuss the possibilities.

  • Which module under SAP is having much requirements in Software industries.?

    Dear Friends,
I am into Software industry from more then 4 years. And i am good at Software skills like Java/J2ee and also im very good at HR Management where i am handling resources and clients more ever im in even into Business development/ Account Management.
My profile is a mixture of all the stuff ie technical and non-technical. So i am confused at this stage in thinking like which module is good as per my profile.. And i want to take up course/module which is very HOT in IT market as off now. I mean having more requirements in India/Abroad/UAE as well. ie probability of getting job should be more.
I am even ok to go for modules like SD,MM, etc which is different from my profile.
IM TOTALLY CONFUSED AT THIS STAGE. REQUESTING you guys to help me out to choose my module under SAP.
    Regards,
    Ahmed.

Based on your description, I think BI upgrades might be of interest to you.
But based on your other "contributions" to SDN, my opinion is that you should perhaps consider a career in the agricultural sector.
I do both, and it works quite nicely to balance things.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • SAP DB Reorganisation in SAP 4.6C Kernel 46D Patch 2500 and Oracle 9.2.0.8

    Hi Gurus,
I have to delete the clients and then perform DB-Reorg.
Through SCC5, I am deleting the clients.
    1) Is it possible to select all the clients and delte altogether, as there are 12 clients to be deleted.
For Reorg, I went through the below notes :
    620803
    646681
    541538
    647697
    706625
    214995
As I am deleting all clients except 3 (000, 001 and development client), do I need to re-organize the entire database ? How to reorganise the entire database at one go ?
Some of the tables are around 90-98 GB.
Is there any way to check from SAP level (other than SQL query) if the Tablespace is DMTS or LMTS and if it is ASSM ?
Incase of DMTS, do you have any document how to convert to LMTS as I am a bit confused.
Does there any dependency on SAP Kernel Level, is it ok to reorg on Kernel 46D.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Amit

You can't delete all clients in one go... you need to logon into each and schedule the deletion via SCC5.
A reorg of this scale will be very time consuming.. I think it will be much quicker to do a Homogeneous system copy via Export/Import.
Also, if this is your development system make sure you check the client independent requests that might have been release from those clients and also the version management of developments.
    Thats my 2cents.
    Regards
    Juan

  • SAP 4.7 Installation problem on Solaris 10 - Oracle 9.2.0.7

  • SAP 4.6C hangs when Brtools run after oracle upgrade 10.2.0.4

    Hi All,
We have Upgraded the Oracle 9i to 10.2.0.4 for sap 4.6C production machine. After the upgrade the sap was succesfully able to start. even i can see the version was reflected in the sap system status. in the Opatch lsinventory all the bug fixes are covered. However when ever the brtools starts like taking the backup, or dbcheck, or archivelog backup. we are getting terminated with errors and the system system hangs. here is the initSID.log as follows.

    Hi Stefan,
I have already raised an sap call with very high priority. Sap has also verified and given me a few commands to verify if there any data block corruptions by using the dbverify and export of database to null. The export log and the db verify log shows no error. all the database if fine without any data block corruptions. is it like if patchset is not done well then will be get these type of problems? But i can see the Opatch lsinventory log shows all the patchsets and the bugs covered as per the patchset we applied. here is the Opatch lsinventory logfile for your reference. finally sap told that it is due to fault memory chip. we also did a memory test to see is it really a fault memory chip. but the memory test shows no errors. what could be the error. please help!
