SAP Script: Barcode printing in "Local windows printer"

Hi All,
In SAP Script, I have used Barcode format to print a Number.
When I issue the Print output by selecting the Configured SAP network printer, The barcodes are properly printed.
but When i select the "Local windows printer" (which has barcode printing facility) option i.e Device type: SAPWIN, the Barcodes are not getting printed.
I have Specified that Network printer as my Default Windows printer, but still when we give "Local printer" the Barcodes does not print.
But for the same network printer when i select it from the List of SAP printers, the barcodes are printed.
Please suggest why barcodes are not getting printed when we give "local windows printer" as the Print device.
Does the same issue also happens for Smart forms?
Midhun.

Hi,
You will need to install a barcode dll to you SAPlpd to be able to print barcodes in this way.  There are a number of software providers for barcode dlls, you can find these by searching google (or similar) with SAP barcode dll.

  • SAP Script: Include text in MAIN window prints outside MAIN window margins

    Hi,
We're facing a peculiar issue. We call a text element in the MAIN window of an SAP Script form using FM WRITE_FORM.
    The element has 2 includes.
The problem is that when the content of any of the 2 includes is large enough, the include text prints overflows outside the MAIN window margins on the first page and into the area of the footer window of the same page. It does not automatically flow to the next page MAIN window.
We have checked that the MAIN window and FOOTER window margins do not overlap. Infact they are quite far from each other.
We have tried stuff like using a forced PROTECT, change the para format etc, but nothing solves the problem.
    Does anyone have any idea?

You do not need to use the subroutine READ_ORDER_TEXT to get another text name because you already have it: TMP_TXNAM2 .
Pass this value back to your SAPscript, and it is okay.
Or you can even check the text object is empty or not, if no text is found, print 2 empty lines:
still use your subroutine to read the text, if no line is found, set TMP_TXNAM2  to empty, otherwise, no change,
In SAPscript, check the value is empty or not, then print 2 empty line or the text object...

  • Printing a PDF document from a network printer hosted on Windows Print Server

    Hi
We have a use case where a XFA form needs to be merged with the XML file and later be printed on a printer hosted on Windows Print Server.
While I know the first part of merging the template with the data file, I am stuggling to get my document printed.
Here are the options that I have already tried -
    1) Used the generatePrintedOutput to render a flat PDF and convert it into a PS format.
    2) The output of the above service was input to the "sendToPrinter" service with following configuration settings
Input document     : <Document variable referencing to the output of the GeneratePrintedOutput service>
        Printer Protocol     : DirectIP
Server URI            : \\ <IP address of the Print Server>     NOTE: The Print Server is hosted on a different domain & is a Windows Server
Printer Name        : \\ <IP address of the Print Server>\<name of the printer>
Some more information about our LC servers -
    OS -> Unix
    Application Server -> JBoss
When I used these settings and invoked the process, I got the following exception -
2011-03-07 11:13:39,047 ERROR [com.adobe.livecycle.output.exception.OutputException] ALC-OUT-001-403: Could not connect to the DirectIP Server: \\<IP Address of the Printer Server>.

Therefore I tried to check if I am able to Ping the Printer Server from my Livecycle Server and found that the ping was successful.
Next - I changed the Printer Protocol from DirectIP to SharedPrinter keeping the rest of the settings same. In this case - when I invoke the process, it did not throw any error , but it did not print any document as well.
Any suggestion where I have gone wrong? Pls let me know if you would need more information to help me resolve this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Priyank

    Well I found the answer......
I had to do the two steps below -
    1) Go to Admin UI, "Trust Store Management -> User & Password Credentials" and add a profile for my Printer server with login ID and password which can access the printer.
So in the "User & Password Crendentails" page, I click on "add" and fill the following values
Profile : \\ <IP address of the print server> ....... (It is important that you write the name correctly..for example " \\10.10.234.212"
USername : <user id who has access to the printer>
    Password  : <password for that user Id>
    2) In the sendToPrinter service, I used CIFS as the protocol and I have the proper Server URI as below
      \\10.10.234.212\<printername>
    And it worked ! .....

  • How can we print using the windows printer dialog window?

    Hi,
We recently got new printers and a printer setup on our server that are set to print in greyscale as a default. In the past the printers defaulted to printing in color. When I create VI's and reports I have used to set "Print on completion" or the print option from the Report Generation Toolkit, and I have received my prints in color. After changing the printer drivers on the server any printing method I used to do from LabVIEW will always produce greyscale prints. These prints are fine for everyday use, however we need color prints when the documents are for customers or for other official use.
If I could only send documents/VI's to that process the user could override the "greyscale" setting and select "color" in the cases where we need a better looking print. Obviously the other option is to save the document/VI as a file and later print it from any windows software (Excel, Paint etc.).
Do anyone have any neat tricks for printing using the windows printer dialog?

You can change printer settings programmatically via a .NET assembly. You can also bring up the Print Dialog to change settings manually before printing.

  • SAP SCRIPT Barcode Printing Issues

    Hi ,
I'm printing 3of9 , barcode in sap script, which has width of 1CM and height of 1CM, the problem is once it's printed, barcode is being printed at higher position than it's supposed to be and creating alignment issues and also introduces blank lines in between .
Has any opne faced this problem , and how to over come this.
    Regards,
    Raghavendra

With SAPscript, barcodes are produced only by each printer (according to BarSimm or whatever technology you use). The preview is just an approximation made by SAP. So, you must trust your printer and adapt your SAPscript until it prints correctly.

  • Connecting a Mac Pro to A printer on local windows network

I apologize in advance if this question has been asked/answered before. I couldn't find in forum.
I am trying to connect my MacPro to a network printer on a windows computer set up for printer sharing.
I have tried everything [all OSX help files, network setup, even purchased a printer server, etc] but nothing works. I've installed windows xp pro with boot camp and while in windows, I can use the network printer, but not from Mac OSX.
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance

How about OS X System Preferences => Sharing.
You need to enable the services you want to use which will also open the ports used and unblock in the firewall.

  • SAP Script BARCODE resize

    Hi ,
I am using the standard BArcode BC_EANH (EAN128) in an SAP script.
am converting a string of 25 charaters to this format. But the printed barcode is too wide around 10.4 cm.
Is there any way to reduce the width of the printed Barcode.? i.e to resize the width.
I have tried the SE73 -> System barcodes option and reduced the width.. but still its the same.
    Regards,
    Mid.

    Hi
Check this and also the Barcode printer
Set the character format for that field that u have to print as barcode.
for that create a new smartstyle and in that create a character format as barcode.
SM73 ->system bar code ->Create new bar code format
then go to smartstyles and use this barcode format for the character format.

  • SAP Script barcode

    HI  Friends,
I want to add barcode in SAPScript.I already made one Z barcode in T.code se73.
I also assign in  se71 barcode in character formats.
So please check it.and tell me how we can display barcode in sap script.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
To Create a Bar code prefix:
    1) Go to T-code - SPAD -> Full Administration -> Click on Device Type -> Double click the device for which you wish to create the print control -> Click on Print Control tab ->Click on change mode -> Click the plus sign to add a row or prefix say SBP99 (Prefix must start with SBP) -> save you changes , it will ask for request -> create request and save
    2) Now when you go to SE73 if you enter SBP00 for you device it will add the newly created Prefix
Create a character format C1.Assign a barcode to the character format.Check the check box for the barcode.
The place where you are using the field value use like this
    <C1> &itab-field& </C1>.
You will get the field value in the form of barcode.
Which barcode printer are you using ? Can you download this file and see.
    http://www.servopack.de/Files/HB/ZPLcommands.pdf.
It will give an idea about barcode commands.

    Detailed information about SAP Barcodes
A barcode solution consists of the following:
    - a barcode printer
    - a barcode reader
    - a mobile data collection application/program
A barcode label is a special symbology to represent human readable information such as a material number or batch number
    in machine readable format.
There are different symbologies for different applications and different industries. Luckily, you need not worry to much about that as the logistics supply chain has mostly standardized on 3 of 9 and 128 barcode symbologies - which all barcode readers support and which SAP support natively in it's printing protocols.
You can print barcodes from SAP by modifying an existing output form.
Behind every output form is a print program that collects all the data and then pass it to the form. The form contains the layout as well as the font, line and paragraph formats. These forms are designed using SAPScript (a very easy but frustratingly simplistic form format language) or SmartForms that is more of a graphical form design tool.
Barcodes are nothing more than a font definition and is part of the style sheet associated with a particular SAPScript form. The most important aspect is to place a parameter in the line of the form that points to the data element that you want to represent as barcode on the form, i.e. material number. Next you need to set the font for that parameter value to one of the supported barcode symbologies.

  • Printing to Local Network Printer

    Hi,
I'm trying to find out if I can print to the local wireless network printer at my very Mac-unfriendly school. (The help desk folks won't even discuss this issue with me because I'm a Mac user).
    Here are the Windows instructions:
Go to Start > Settings > Printers. Select Add Printer. Select the Local
Printer option, and deselect the option to automatically detect
Plug-and-Play printers. Select “Create a new port” and select “LPR Port”
from the drop-down menu. In the line for “Name or address of server
providing lpd:” type in “print.law.local”. In the line reading “Name of
printer or print queue on that server:” type in “HPIIISI_01”. Click OK and
wait for a printer selection box to come up (there may be a delay). Select
HP from the manufacturer window on the left and HP Laser Jet 8100 PCL.
I tried using the Printer Setup Utility (by entering "print.law.local:HPIIISI_01" in the address field under the IP printer tab) but to no avail.
If anyone has any idea how to translate this into OS X terms, I will be forever grateful.
    Thanks!
MacBook Black, iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The first thing you have to do is check if there is a Mac printer driver for the printer model on the network.
You can go to the manufacturer's Web site and search in their (undoubtedly badly organized) downloads sections. If it's a common printer the driver may already be included with OSX, but it's always best to check for the latest update from the manufacturer anyway.
If there is a Mac driver, after it's installed on your computer, go to the OSX Preferences panel/Printers and Faxes, and click the little "+" button. This should bring up a panel that will search the network automatically and hopefully find the printer.
There is a faq on printing setup you can find somewhere here in the discussion area that will give you more detailed steps.

  • Problems Printing to Shared Windows Printer Via SAMBA (foomatic error 255)

I can NOT print from my MacBookPro to a printer that's shared out from my Windows PC. Of course, printing to this same printer from my PC works fine.
Please help me resolve this printing problem.
Read on for more details regarding my printing woes!
I can successfully setup my printer on the MAC side using the Printer Setup utility. I see the shared out printer on my MAC; I can pick the printer's manufacturer and model. Everything looks ok regarding the setup of the printer on the MAC side.
However, when I try to print a file from the MAC, the printer never prints. The print job appears to get queued on the MAC side. However, after a few seconds, the printer queue displays "foomatic-rip stopped unexpectedly with error 255" (if I selected a foomatic printer driver from the hpijs). Otherwise, it says "NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY" error (if I selected a gutenprint driver instead).
The PC's Windows event logs show no problems. Indeed, the Security event log shows successful authentication & access to the printer.
The MAC's CUPS error_log displays the these error messages:
GutenPrint fails with NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY error, then says Cannot connect to SAMBA host
hpjisGhostscriptFoomatic fails with "The process 'foomatic-rip' stopped unexpectedly with status 255"
Later, I will post the exact entries from this log (I am currently separated from my MAC laptop until later this evening).
My Apple MacBookPro is running MAC OS X 10.4.11 ("Tiger"). The printer is an HP DeskJet 5150 connected via a USB port to my DELL 8400 PC. This desktop PC is running Microsoft's "Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2").
Based on reading other posts (here) and at the Linux Open Foundation (printing), I have already done the following:
    Installed gutenprint;
    Installed foomatic (foomatic-rip v3.42.2.15);
    Installed ghostscript (espgs v7.07.1); &
    Installed hpijs (hpijs v2.7.10).
NOTE: This is NOT the same problem that I posted earlier regarding inability to print to a shared printer with Leopard (MAC OS X 10.5.0). Today's posting deals with my inability to print to the shared printer from Tiger (MAC OS X 10.4.11).
NOTE: This may be a "red herring" but you may need this additional background to help resolve my printing problem. Originally, I ran "Tiger" (MAC OS X 10.4.10) on my MacBookPro laptop. Of course, networked printing worked fine at this point. On October 28, 2007, I upgraded to "Leopard" (MAC OS X 10.5.0). Leopard was a "disaster" for me (printing, networking & many other problems). On November 9, 2007, I "punted" and re-installed "Tiger" (MAC OS X 10.4.10) from Apple's original CD. On November 15, 2007, I upgraded to MAC OS X 10.4.11 via Apple's software update utility. I vaguely recollect that networked printing was working after I returned back to Tiger.
    /s/
    Tony H.

As promised in my initial post regarding my printing problem, here are the actual error messages displayed in the Print Queue (Hp5150) and the "cups" error_log when I try to print any file to my HP 5150 that's directly connected to my DELL PC (Windows XP Pro) but shared out so that my MacBookPro should be able to print to it.
    Printer Queue Hp5150 window displays:

    /var/log/cups/error_log displays:

I [04/Jan/2008:20:25:17 -0500] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more.
    E [04/Jan/2008:20:26:17 -0500] [Job 3] Connection failed with error NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY
E [04/Jan/2008:20:27:17 -0500] [Job 3] Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds...ERROR: Connection failed with error NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY

Again, the system Event logs on the Windows XP side show no error messages. In particular, the Security Event Log shows that authentication was successful; so, the MacBookPro's client process was granted access to the printer on the DELL PC side of the transaction.

  • Printing to shared Windows printer fails after Yosemite upgrade

Running Mountain Lion had a working shared printer from Windows 7 Pro - a Canon MX310.
After upgrade the printer is still there but trying to use it results in "Support Code : 306 A communication error has occurred..."
Tried deleting the printer then re-adding. The OS X printer app finds the printer in the windows workgroup, appears to have a little chat then says its added ok. Same Error.
Tried a reset of the mac printing system - same.
Printer is working on the host PC and from other network windows PC.
    Anyone else seen similar issue?

I can't claim any experience with this printer. I am going on what the "specs" say should work.
There are three software pieces needed to set up this printer. For the first two, you will need to download and install both the Foomatic-RIP software and the ESP Ghostscript software from <http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/foomatic/>.
For the third item, you will need to download the PPD for this printer from <http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-BJ-200>. Place the PPD in the following folder (make any folders that are not already on your system):
    /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj
This setup will use the bj200 device that is built into Ghostscript. The notes that I find in the device driver indicate that this is using the BJ-10 command set. The manual for the bj-200e shows that this is one of the languages it can use. There might be some DIP switches you need to set to make things compatible with this command set and/or the line spacing set forth in the device driver.
Let us know how this goes.

  • Printing to a Windows Print Server

I consider myself pretty computer literate however I am comletely baffled at how to connect to a print server running Windows 2000 using my MacBook at work.
    I have tried going into:
System Prefs > Print & Fax > add printer > more printers
which brings me to two pull down menus that have options the options:
"Apple Talk, Blue Tooth and Windows" printing as well as "Canon IJ Network, Epson Apple Talk & Wirewire, Espon TCP/IP etc" The second drop down says "Network Neighborhood" or "Workgroup".
I am pretty sure I have tried every combo of these and nothing recognized the two printers on the server (Samsung ML-2150 and HP Business Inkjet 1200).
I made sure I have the most recent version of both drivers for Tiger 10.4.7 and I can connect (and print) to each printer directly using USB but not through the network.
I am using Airport to do so but I have used Ethernet cable as well to test and no luck. I am also hooked up through a Linksys WRV router and tried using a second router hooked up only to myself and the printer.
Despite all of the above, please feel free to dumb down the suggestions as networking is not my strong suit.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I can update anyone with more info if there is something I have left out.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have come across several of your posts in trying to resolve a problem connecting to a printer on a G5 from Windows 2000. This post I could reply to.
First off, I think your documentation is great.
I have read http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3000.html to try and connect from a Windows 2000 box to a Mac G5 running 10.3. I have followed it to a 'T', but I get the message that I can't connect to the printer -- either the name is wrong or the printer is disconnected. Checked each case, and keep hitting the wall.
I have been able to identify the Mac from the Windows box, and connect to a directory, but try as I might, the network printer will not show up in the network neighborhood. Typing in the name (queue_name) has not worked either.
I checked the /etc/smb.conf and printcap files. Should I be manuall inserting the name of the printer into the smb.conf file?
    Stumped.
Any ideas? Very frustrating bit this is.
    Thanks,
