SAP Workflow, Webdynpros Abap and NW Business Client

Hi All,
Are there good explanations or examples about using Webdynpros Abap in Business Workflow in combination with Netweaver Business client? There is one for using WD4A with UWL, but i'm not sure if this is the same...
Kind Regards Thomas

    Hi David,
I am leaning towards SSL.  We are not using SSL in our environment and I believe that by default in a NW7.3P5 portal the WSConfig (?) services require SSL.  When doing a security trace from within the portal via NWA I am receiving:
    "POST /ConfigurationWS/ConfigurationWSConfig?wsdl&style=document&mode=standard HTTP/1.1
    content-type: text/xml; charset=utf-8
    accept-encoding: gzip, deflate
    user-agent: NWBCClient v1.0"
    "process()
    [EXCEPTION]
com.sap.engine.interfaces.webservices.runtime.ProtocolExceptionExt: SSL required for this call. For details see log entry .
    at com.sap.engine.services.wssec.srt.protocols.ProviderSecurityProtocol.logThrowable(ProviderSecurityProtocol.java:1204)"
Unfortunately I don't have a NW7.3 system pre SP5 to see if it was a support pack change or the default in a NW7.3 system.
Looking at the service definition for ConfigurationWSSI in the Configuration and Security Tabs you can see the transport protocol is defined as HTTPS.   If I can change the ConfigurationWSSI and the NavigationWSVi (?) to HTTP protocol it gets past the SSL check but then I receive other exceptions.  Unfortunately I don't have the time to investigate further.

  • WebDynPro ABAP in adobe flex client

    > Good to know. That kinda sounds as if the webdynpro app itself will not have to be modified at all. Does this apply to CE webdynpro only or will be NW7.0 webdynpro apps supported the same way? How's the xBCML code generated? Will the CE be an requirement?
That is correct - the apps do not have to be modified in any way.  Web Dynpro was designed years ago with this kind of future in mind.  The application rendering is separated in layers. One of those layers is the UI rendering itself.  It was strickly designed so that we could "plug-in" new rendering engines over time.
So what technically happens is nice bit of OO magic.  There are multiple implementations of each UI elment rendering class, but they all have the same interface.  That way the rendering engine can determine what kind of client it is building the UI for at runtime and substitute a different rendering engine by calling the correct subclass.  The first rendering engine that SAP supplied for Web Dynpro is what is called the Unified Renderer.  This is what produces the HTML and JavaScript UI that we run today in the browser.  In NW 7.0 EnhP1 ABAP and NW 7.1 CE EnhP1 we have actually rewritten this Unified Renderer completely - improving performance and adding in more AJAX functionality.  So this same plug-in rendering technology can be used to seemlessly overhaul the HTML renderer as well.
With this plug-in rendering technology we were able to build an XML based renderer.  This XML formatted output is what we call xBCML (Extensible Business Client Markup Language).  Actually if you compare the two rendering engines it is much easier to build an XML description of the UI then it is to build HTML/JavaScript. This nice, neutral XML description of the UI elements and their properties can then be sent to the client machine over HTTP/HTTPS and interpreted by different technologies.  We use this same XML format within a Flex, Silverlight, and .Net Client Renderer.  This is how SAP has built the Flex Client, Flash Islands, Silverlight Islands, and the NetWeaver Business Client Smart Client Renderer.
On the ABAP side of the house for Web Dynpro we are bringing all of this new rendering technology to the 7.0 release via Enhancement Packages.  The dependency of the Business Suite to run on top of NetWeaver 7.0 is a pretty much a driving factor to make sure that new Web Dynpro technology for ABAP must make it into the 7.0 code line to be effective.
The Java side is less clear.  We have really focused future enhancements to Java Web Dynpro within the 7.1 CE codeline.  Our current plans are to deliver this functionality to WD Java via CE  (some of it is already there in CE 7.1 and some will come later with CE 7.1 EnhP1). I would be a little suprised to see a backport effort to 7.0 Java given the focus on CE.  I realize that this leaves ESS/MSS in a strange location - so if there was customer demand around that application it might be the only thing to lead to a selective backport - but I certainly can't confirm that this will happen.

  • Issue on Creating RFx in webdynpro ABAP application - SRM Business Package

    Hi
We are in to SRM 7.0 with the same version of Business Package in SAP Portal also.
I am trying to create a RFx from Portal which in turn calls the webdynpro ABAP application (Strategic Purchasing->Strategic Sourcing->Create Documents->RFx)
    sap/bc/webdynpro/sapsrm/wda_l_fpm_oif.
This Application has some button called "Tech RFx", "Permissions" etc., When I click on those buttons it throws the error as below :
"There is no iView available for system "SAP_SRM": object "TechResp". For more information, contact your administrator."
Please let me know where we are missing. I have checked all the Portal permissions. Even I can able to access all other iviews except this two buttons.
Any settings or parameters required on webdynpro ABAP side.

    Raja.J

    Dear Raja,
this behavior occurs if the IView com.sap.pct.srm.gp.iv_tech_resp
is not assigned to the role which is assigned to the user.
Please assign this IView to the desired user.
Here are the steps to follow in your systems:
STEP 1: Login to the Portal with Content Admin Authorization.
STEP 2: Navigate to Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP ->
specialist -> SRM7.0 -> Core -> Roles -> Open the desired role and
    choose Navigation Folder.
STEP 3: Now navigate to Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP ->
    specialist -> SRM7.0 -> PPS -> iViews -> Tendering -> Select Tech
Responses (Technical name is iView com.sap.pct.srm.gp.iv_tech_resp) and
right click and choose 'Add iView to Role' -> Delta Link and save.
STEP 4: Log off and login with the user and check the issue.

  • Webdynpro ABAP and Light Speed Rendering Engine Performance reports

    Hello,
We will be applying the NW EhP1 and ERP EhP4 in November this year.
I am very much excited about the new Lightspeed rendering technology that SAP has delivered with Webdynpro ABAP.
Has anybody installed this already and can you comment about the performance of Webdynpro ABAP AFTER activating this new rendeing engine?
    regards,
    Atul Kulkarni

We have implemented the EHP1 for NW 7.0 and ERP EHP4 back in May 2009.  The performance of web dynpro  applications is much better with the new rendering engine. The new name is living up to it's character of speed of light.
The usability of the application has increased with the new trade show plus theme. For example pink background for fields with errors. Access Keys and Hot Keys are very useful, specifically if you are migrating legacy applications from systems/languages which rely heavily on access keys.

  • SAP recommanded WebDynpro ABAP Startup parameter

    Hello everyone
We have a webdynpro abap application where the display at the browser is very slow.
The problem is not at the application itself. All table read are very quick. But when displaying the record to the browser it is deadly slow.
    1000 records:
Read time less than 1 second.
Display time to the browser 28 seconds.
All the code has been optimized to reduce reading time. But the time required to display is killing all users patience.
I would like to know if someone has any kind of documentation indicating SAP recommandation of the startup parameters, at the WAS level or at any levels.
Is there any tools available to trace where is the bottle neck? Why it is so slow to display?
So far, the debugging tool just indicates that all database read section are working with great efficiencies.
we tested the application using windows explorer 7 and firefox 3.5. Same result with both browsers.
any suggestino wil be highly appreciated.
    Regards
    DSTJ

    Hello Thomas
    Thank you for your reply.
At the browser level, the display has been set to 10 rows only.
The selected record at the server level is 1000 records. But only 10 rows are displayed at a time.
I am trying to find any documentation related to parameters that have to  be setted to have optimal performance using WebDynpro ABAP application.
Related to my comment where the information was refering the webdynpro java was related to the Arun P. link not your post.
The WD_TRACE_TOOL give some information. Unfortunatly I don't know how to use it. I need to play with it.
You refered to CTRLALTSHIFT+P. I don't know where to perform those key stroke. I tried at the browser level, at the SE80 level without success. So, I didn't understand that part.
If you can guide me further, it will be highly appreciatted.

  • SAP-EP in ABAP and JAVA ?????

    Hi all,
When i started studying about for implementing each and every thing in EP/EP-related things it can be done in ABAP and JAVA as well.
I am really worried about this i am already an ABAP consultant and though i have knowledge of J2EE i prefer to  follow ABAP version of EP i.e. Dynpro in ABAP and Adobe forms in ABAP..
But i heard that market is good only Java version of implementing the EP.
and SAP it self is suggesting to go for JAVA version.. in that case why has it created ABAP dynpro,ADOBE forms etc etc.
why there are 2 ways (JAVA and ABAP) is it to confuse?? please help .. even if i learn ABAP version of everything will that be useful or not?? As u r already into EP,you guys can tell me is there market for ABAP version of implementing EP related things!!
    Please reply.
    Thanks in advance.

    Srini...

    hi srinivas....
this is what i feel abt the question......
to answer ur question, one has to think in the perspective of SAP Labs.
there are two ways of doing what u have mentioned and its not to confuse.....
ABAP is the proprietary language of SAP and therefore u dont find as many developers or intellectual manpower in ABAP as u can find for JAVA.....
SAP is trying to focus and capture the medium and small scale markets and industries for which it requires lot of manpower.....
    so JAVA is its choice.....
there can be a lot more reasons behind it.....but this is what i feel.....

  • WebDynpro ABAP and Portal Navigation problem

    Hi all,
I've a problem with triggering Portal navigation from a custom WD4A application.
The request is to have an "Exit" button implemented and if pressed, the portal goes back to the top page:
    --> Search
       --> Kind of Search
--> WD4A -> Exit goes back to "Search"
I've tried using absolute_navigation/relative_navigation methods from interface if_wd_portal_integration, but they do not work at all.
It seems that the portal totally doesn't care about the request and remains still.
Methods are called passing the PCD of the "Search" page (i've tried even with the ROLES).
    Anyone has an idea?
By the way, I was thinking about raising some kind of "standard" event like "navigate" or something...I don't know if it's applicable.
    Thanks in advance,
    R.

    Hi,
If you are navigating from one WD Application to another you can either use URL or Object Based Navigation.
In URL Method you can call the target application from the source application.
You can create the method in the Window of WD Component.
You also need to create exit plug (outbound) with parameter url (type string) and specify the plug type as Suspend.
Trigger this method as desired by you in your application.
    CALL METHOD cl_wd_utilities=>construct_wd_url
        EXPORTING
          application_name = 'TARGET_APPLICAITON_NAME'
        IMPORTING
          out_absolute_url = lv_url.
    CONCATENATE lv_url '?sap-client=' sy-mandt '&sap-language=' sy-langu '
      INTO        lv_url.
      wd_this->fire_exit_plg(
        url = lv_url                              " string
    Thanks

  • SAP Security Notes: ABAP and Kernel Software Corrections

    Hi all,
I have a quick question, hopefully it's just as quick an answer.
Under the Early Watch section in the title it states
Security-related SAP Notes cannot be checked because the results of the RSECNOTE tool are missing.
What does this actually mean and how do I make the results of RSECNOTE available to the early watch report?
It says this in all my systems, I can run the tool via ST13 or SE38 > RSECNOTE manually but surely it's must be referring to some automated results.
    Thanks
    Craig

Sorry but this note is not relevant, we are using ST-A/PI 01Q_700 SP2 (SAPKITAB7L).
It also refers to RSECNOTE not existing in the system.  As I mentioned the tool exists and I can run this manually, but as noted the Early Watch report states
Security-related SAP Notes cannot be checked because the results of the RSECNOTE tool are missing.
Suggesting that somehow results of the tool are held somewhere and are read by the Early Watch report processing. So my question still stands, how are these results made available to the Early Watch report, what batch job needs to be running on a regular basis for this to work?
The very first sentence after the section says
You have marked 2 security-related SAP Notes as not to be considered.
So it must be reading this from somewhere!
    Thanks
    Craig

  • WebDynpro ABAP and Portal Navigation

    Hi,
I have two Webdynpro applications as an IView linked in the portal, now I want to navigate between the applications.
I know, that I can trigger a protal event by:
    method ONACTIONFIRE_PORTAL_EVENT .
data: L_API_COMPONENT  type ref to IF_WD_COMPONENT,
            L_PORTAL_MANAGER type ref to IF_WD_PORTAL_INTEGRATION.

data: L_API_COMPONENT type ref to IF_WD_COMPONENT,
    L_PORTAL_MANAGER type ref to IF_WD_PORTAL_INTEGRATION,

  • System Copy for SAP Netweaver 2004 ABAP and Java

    Dear Friends,
We are planning to do System copy for CRM 4.0 (ABAP+Java) from PROD to Quality.
    Production has following
    Production
    CRP (ABAP+JAVA, Oracle 10g)
CR1 (Java Standalone, CRM Applications, Oracle 10g)
CR2 (Java Standalone, CRM Applications, Oracle 10g)
    Test
    CRT (ABAP+JAVA, Oracel 10g)
CR1 (Java Standalone, CRM Applications, Oracle 10g)
As per my understanding perfrom System Copy in two methods
    1. Using Offline backup of CRP from the Split Mirror backup.
    2. Export of the CRP from the Split Mirror backup.

If you have Split Mirror available you could definitely use it. Redirected restore or export/import are the alternatives. You could also use file copy (system offline is preferred).

  • SAP GUI - SAP Business client - Portal Comaprison

    Hi ,
We would like to know what are the advantages and disadvantages of NW Business client over portal and normal SAP GUI in all the aspects such as development, performance .
what is the general/rule of thumb difference between development for SAP BC and Portal ?
How easy can developments be transferred from Portal to SAP GUI and vice versa ?
Are there any language specific implications for these objects ?
Are there any differences for development objects that are developed for SAP GUI and SAP BC ?
Are there any security related implications when using code that is created for SAP GUI on SAP BC and vice versa ?
Are there any additional security flags that need to be checked when switching from one to the other ?
While I cannot have more than 1 active SAP BC session (using the local installed version) can I run more than 1 with the web based SAP BC?

  • Webdynpro abap from outside

    Hi Folks,
I have created a webdynpro abap and it works very well, when I call ist from the application server or inside the network.
Now I want to call it from outside and I get error " can not display the page".
The url from inside  is http://server.sap.com:8002/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/wdt_master_detail?sap-language=DE
    and from outside http://server.sap.com:8002/sap/public/myssocntl?sap-client=001
I have started all the services.
Do I have still to configure something?
    Thanks for help.
    RG. Jimbob

    Hi.
Im new to this Forum but i have the same Problem.
I cannot open the ABAP WEBDYNPRO from Outside of my network.
    Configuration
    - Apache reverse proxy in DMZ (running well)
    - EP 7.01 in DMZ
    - ABAP SOLMAN in local Network
I can access the Portal from Outside (http://service.myportal.de/irj) and use it. But if I open a iView with ABAP Webdyndpro i receive the Error "Page cannot be found".  Looks like that the iView try to open the internal URL from SOLMAN.
What can I do to solve this problem.
    Thanks for any Idea.

  • Webdynpro ABAP or Webdynpro Java?

    Hello experts.
I want to learn to develop WebDynpro's
Do you which of the two tools do you recommend? webdynpro java or webdynpro abap.
    Greetings

    Hi Lupe ,
Although both technologies have same functionalities but even then they are not identical.
Following are some of the differences:
Language :-  First difference is the programming language used as the names Webdynpro ABAP and Webdynpro JAVA reflect. In ABAP Webdynpro, along with ABAP coding, RFCu2019s are also supported via Service call. Unlike Webdynpro ABAP, we cannot do ABAP coding in Webdynpro JAVA. Instead RFCu2019s and Web services are created and used in it to serve this purpose. In addition to Web services and adaptive RFC, Java Beans is another model supported by Webdynpro JAVA.
Design Time Environment :-  Webdynpro ABAP requires ABAP Workbench (SE80) while SAP Netweaver Developer Studio is necessary for designing Webdynpro JAVA applications. So, additional installation is required. This studio reduces the development effort and utilizes some visual tools for creating components which can be reused.
Storage :-  Applications developed using Webdynpro ABAP are stored centrally in ABAP server whereas in case of Webdynpro JAVA, the code remains on the client machine that is developed using a tool called Netweaver Developer studio. So, due to the powerful version control system of Webdynpro ABAP, the load removes from the development machine which is not possible in case of Webdynpro JAVA.
Skills Required :- For Webdynpro ABAP, a developer should have knowledge of ABAP programming, Development tools, Database concepts, ABAP Objects. However, Webdynpro JAVA requires skill set comprising java programming, java development tools and object-oriented concept.
Performance:-  Large scale applications that involve large number of web users canu2019t work well on ABAP server. So, for robust and scalable applications, Webdynpro JAVA is preferred because of powerful J2EE server as proved by Sun Microsystems. However, small-scale or applications involving small or medium users can go well with Webdynpro ABAP. Thus, performance varies depending on the number of web users and one can choose ABAP or JAVA accordingly.
So the decession is that its totaly based on your available skillsets and your scenario to be implemented.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Monishankar C
