Sapgui 720 pl 4

I'm preparing to deploy sapgui 720 pl 4, saplogon pad.
How do I disable the "tree view" and the "explorer view" leaving only
the "list view" for my production users.

According to note  1409494 - SAP Logon (Pad) 7.20: configuration (ini) files' storage also look at Note 1481468 - SAP Logon 7.20: "abnormal program termination"
When you use command line parameter /INI_FILE= or environment variable SAPLOGON_INI_FILE to start SAP Logon (Pad), if the SapLogonTree.xml is existing in the same path as your input saplogon.ini file, the tree (folder) structure defined in this SapLogonTree.xml will be used, otherwise a new SapLogonTree.xml will be created with the 3 default folders in the same path.
Any folder configuration in the running SAP Logon will be saved in this SapLogonTree.xml file.
In SAP Logon Pad no configuration is possible and therefore no configuration files will/should be modified in this path.
If SapLogonTree.xml doesn't exist and cannot be created due to permissions for example, no tree structure can be displayed in SAP Logon (PAD) and the old display with tabs as in SAP Logon (Pad) 710 will be used(patchlevel >= 2).
So by default if you use this command line parameter, make sure that that there is no SapLogonTree.xml file AND put read only permissions on the folder encapsulating saplogon.ini (such as a network drive)  then you should be able to force the legacy list view.
This is how it was working with initial releases but I have found that with Patch 4 you encounter an error if the saplogontree.xml file is empty and flagged as read only

  • Microsoft apps (outlook/Excel etc) do not work after SAPGUI 720 install

    Hello,
We use a tool called MARIMBA to package and deploy SAPGUI and other apps to our users. Recently, we packaged SAPGUI 720 and deployed to some end-users (Win XP 32-bit SP3, Win 7 enterprise) via Marimba. However, after SAPGUI gets pushed to the end-user computers, users complain that their Microsoft apps don't work or are missing! Few users report Symantec Anti-virus does not launch.
I am not sure if this is unique to our environment. Please report here if you have encountered similar situation.
    Thanks for your time.

You software is too old. You need to move to Office 2008, 2011 or use iWork or use Open Office (or Libre Office, or NeoOffice, etc.)

  • Installing SAPgui 720 using Microsoft SCCM (sms)

    Microsoft System Center Config Manager.
On workstations that we installed the SAPgui update using MS SCCM 2007 we are not able to uninstall sapgui.
SAP has recommended that we use SAPgui installation server to install the updates (instead of a tool such as SCCM).
Please let me know if you have used MS SCCM (config manager) 2007 to install SAPgui 720, and if so, are you able to uninstall the sapgui from the control panel sucesfully?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
We have a problem on deployment with SCCM/SMS centralized mode about the spalogon.ini file location :
We are preparing a deployment package to deploy SAPGUI v7.20 centralized and silent mode by SCCM on XP AND Windows 7.
This deployment should be accompanied by the deployment of customized saplogon.ini to give the path to the production server.
Currently, we encounter on Windows 7, the problem of the location of the saplogon.ini in a directory that allows use by all users who connect to the station.
As we have packaged for the moment, the installation is done via a user type admin, saplogon.ini is placed in a file specific to the user (on windows 7, it is a directory type X : \ Users \ <UserName> \ AppData \ Roaming \ SAP \ Common).
So, the user need manually reconfigure its SAP GUI session to point to the production server.
What we want is that the installation package performs all the operations:
    * Installation of SAP GUI (that it works)
    * Deposit of saplogon.ini in a directory accessible by any user connecting to the position
    * Configuration of SAP GUI for that point on the saplogon.ini.
As sayed before, this installation package must be used both in Windows XP on Windows 7.
    Thank you for your help
PS : We will try the Jose Pietri’s solution up and tell you if its works.

  • SAPGui 720 and RRMX - RFC Error with a Message server

I am testing SAPGui 7.20 before installing it on all workstations. I found an error RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION in the following situation.

This error happens only on Production system. On Development and Quality systems it is ok. The difference between these systems is that Production has a message server (po1bwsc.sapmi.telecomitalia.local) and a Group server defined
(PROD_P1B that leads to 4 application servers).
If I force the application server to logon to po1bwsc.sapmi.telecomitalia.local everything works well, but using the
group server I get the error above.
    Furthermore I found out that:
if I add the IP address of the GWHOST (tosatti in this case, but I have also donald and alexey) in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file, everything works fine.
Please notice that with SAPGui 640 there is not this problem, even without adding the above IP addresses to etc\hosts file.
How can I avoid this problem?
    Thanks

What parameter did yiou have to change for this?
    We are experiencing same issue.

  • SAPgui 720 PL1 upgrade causing IE 7/8 issues

AFter installing SAPgui 720 patch 1, we are experiencing IE issues (page not found, invalid url, blank popup/dialog screens, error on page).
Reinstalling IE 7 or 8 resolves this, however we really dont want to reinstall IE on every workstation where the SAPgui update is applied.
Has anybody else seen this IE issue, and if so, have you found a solution?
    Thanks!

This is more directed at IE6, but I do know that we ran into this awhile back.
"Note 1012459 - SAP GUI patch breaks Internet Explorer"  Maybe be related?
I am trying to find my notes on another issue we encountered where there were some ocx files needed re-registered.
But perhaps this may help point in the dorection of the root cause.

  • Install SAPGUI 720 using package (MSI)

    Hello friends,
We have SAPGUI 710 installed on our machines.
I would like to upgrade to 720 using SAPGUI package. MSI.
Identified in the directory (\ GUI \ WINDOWS \ WIN32 \ system) the following files:
    DhtmlEd.msi
    msxml4.msi
    vc9_redist_x86.msi
    vcredist_x86.msi
Which one should I choose to silently install SAPGUI 720?
    Best regards,
    Ricardo Arriado

    Hello Ricardo,
The msi files you refer to are not SAPGui installation .msi files but are dependency files.
Creating your own .msi installation scenario is not supported or recommended.
Refer to SAPNote 507996 SAP front-end installation - integration possibilities.
    extract below:
We would ADVISE AGAINST using other installation programs to install the
Sapgui without SapSetup. 'Repacking' the software frontend into other
installation programs may cause unforeseen problems and we will be
unable to provide support if you experience such problems.
This also applies to those tools based on MSI, SMS Installer, Win
install, Tivoli and so on. The option to start Sapsetup from the
corresponding tools exists for all of these tools and you should use
    this option.
SAP does not deliver an MSI file containing the installation information
    for SAP frontend software.
An upgrade using the installation server (refer to the guide in the NW_7.0_Presentation\PRES1\DOCU\ folder
on how to recreate an installation server.) willl automatically uninstall the 7.10 gui in the process if installing the 7.20 Gui.
    Hope this helps.

  • Sapgui 720 (beta)

I am looking for information, and a link to sign up for the SAPgui 720 beta program.  I understand that SAP is accepting 720 beta volunteers.  We'll be testing sapgui 720 on our Win7 workstations.
    Thanks.

What is the time frame for SAPGUI 7.20?
Wondering if there would be another patch after 7.10 PL 14. If we should wait for 7.20 or upgrade to PL14 first.
    Appreciate your help.
    Andrew Eng
    Andrew -
720 is "expected" to ship the end of March 2010
SAP has planned to release 2 more patches for 710 before that time.
Please see Note 1053737 for expected ship dates of those patch levels.

  • Sapgui 720 Path of Local configuration files location

Does anyone know how to set the "Path Local Configuration Files" during the installation of the sapgui? Either variable name of registry setting?
    Thanks,
    Daniel

Please have a look at notes 1409494 and 1426178.
The Path Local Configuration Files (except saplogon.ini and sapshortcut.ini) cannot be changed, because they are used by other applications than the SAP GUI, too.

  • Product name is internally labeled as "SAPGUI710" for SAPGUI 720 product

In the SAP INstallation Server Administration Tool:
When looking at the Properties of the "SAP GUI for Windows 7.20 (Compilation 1)' it has three references to "SAPGUI710" rather than "SAPGUI720" - Command Line Name, Silent Installation Command-Line and Silent Uninstallation Command-Line?
For example, we want that /Product= switch to be "SAPGUI720" for the command lines but it is listed as below:
    \Setup\NwSapSetup.exe /Silent /Product="SAPGUI710"
I've determined that the SAPGUISETUP.XML file has improper references to the previous product.  Is it possible to make changes in some of the XML files in the setup directory so that the silent install and uninstall commands using "SAPGUI720" rather than "SAPGUI710"./

The lines in the SapGuiSetup.xml file that reference 710:
      <Product Guid="{1460620D-C8BC-44c2-86EC-E632E0986B01}" Name="StrSapGui710" CmdLine="SAPGUI710" Description="StrSapGui710Description" WkstaDb="SapGuiWkstaUI.xml" MasterNode="TRUE" ProdVersion="2133">
        <UI>
              <Page Type="FolderPath">
                   <PageVariable>SapFrontEndDir</PageVariable>
                   <WindowCaption>StrWindowCaption</WindowCaption>
                   <Title>StrSapGui710</Title>
                   <SubTitle>StrSapGui710SelectTargetDir</SubTitle>
                   <BackBtnText>StrBtnBack</BackBtnText>
                   <NextBtnText>StrBtnNext</NextBtnText>
                   <BrowseBtnText>StrBtnBrowse</BrowseBtnText>
                   <CancelBtnText>StrBtnCancel</CancelBtnText>
              </Page>
If I change the clause CmdLine="SAPGUI710" to CmdLine="SAPGUI720"  - the three references in the Properties all are corrected to use "SAPGUI720" when I go back into NWSapSetupAdmin.exe.
However, it is bit strange leaving the other 710 references in the XML file.
Going to try making a package with this one change to the SapGuiSetup.xml  file.

  • SAPGUI 7.20 patch level 5 problem with Modification Assistant

I'm using SAPGUI 720 patch level 5 on a Windows 7 sp1 machine. There is a serious issue with modification assistant not working properly.
For some reason it does not focus on the correct code line and automatic comments are not inserted either.
    Anyone else facing this issue?

    Hello Jason,
sounds as if this could be related to the correction from note 1569250 "Focus set to textedit toolbar on roundtrip".
I assume that a textedit control is used in the Modification Assistant - right?
If so the easiest solution for you is to apply hotfix 2 we published  couple of days ago (hotfix 2 is available on SAP SMP).

  • SAPGui Automatic Workstation update service

    Hi All:
We deployed SAPGui 720 to end users with installation server. After deployment we disabled automatic workstation update from installation server. SAP released new patch 1 for SAPGui 720 recently. We upgraded our deployment server with patch 1 and enabled automatic update but users are not getting updates.
SAP Document says once you disable automatic workstation update, it can not be undone. you need to reinstall service.
Is their any other way to enable it and get automatic update? We tried another option with double click on desktop icon 5 times to check update but it is not working.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Miral.

    ULA_RANDY,
We did the same thing ... had auto update service disabled on the server and front ends and needed to re-activiate it.
To "Turn it Back On" for your front end clients is easy.
    1) Turn Automatic Updates back ON on your server.  Change check in time and reboot switch to whatever you need.
    2) Run the following command on your front ends:
    [yourInstserver]\[share]\setup\nwsapsetup.exe /update /product=SAPWUS /NoDlg
If it runs correctly you will find additional files in the front end folder ...\Program Files\sap\sapsetup\setup\updater
You also will find WkstaUpdater.cfg (same location) to have changed entry of DISABLED =FALSE
There are many ways to run the command ... Copy/paste to Start, Run,  CMD file, Logon Script, AD Startup Script, ... we have a vb script that we push to the clients via Microsoft SCCM.  This assumes you have LSH configured so that end user does not have to have local admin rights.
Make sure your installation server is patched with the latest SAP SETUP 9.0 patch.  And watch out ... it's confusing there are TWO downloads presented for SAP SETUP 9.0.  The smaller one is setup only, the larger is a combined setup and AWUS patch.  You need the larger one.  See note 1587566
Also ... then once you have all your clients participating in Auto Update ... wait a few days, and then you can patch your server with the main 7.20 patch.  Don't dump too much on the front end clients at once
    Good luck!

  • Sapgui 7.20 FPCJ field disabled

We're testing sapgui 720 and have found that the payment amount field in the summary section of FPCJ is disabled. Works fine in 710. Has anyone had this problem?
    Thanks,
    Dan

I figured it out. Resize the window. Open a session, go into fpcj, and make the window larger. You'll see the "Summary" block change position on the screen then you'll be able to type in the payment amount field. Make it smaller and you wonu2019t be able to type in that field.

    Hello,
The problem could be a SAPGUI related problem... Whats the current sapgui patch level ? Does it work when you try on another wokstation with the same user ?
Could you please use SAPGUI 720 and update your patch level to 7 ? Then check the behaviour again.
