Crystal Report Error Failed to load Database logon Information
Hi Experts,
We developed a Crystal reports fetching data from a BI Query. When we run the report from Crystal Report Desginer it runs perfectly.
When I schedule the report in the CMC / Infoview, I am getting a error message saying:
"<REPORT NAME> Failed to load database logon Information."
We have checked the database configuration in CMC for this report. BI system hostname and the other necessary credentials are fine.
Please suggest us on how we go about understanding the cause of the error.

While Refresh the report in webi i got database error.
Hi All,
I try to refresh the report in CMC i got database error . Can any one please help me how to resolve this.
Regards,
ArjunHi Mallikarujun,
Try selecting the values using show values for particular column in Universe.
If that is fine and you are using SQL Server then the query is returning more that 2147483647 which is the limit for the return count by SQL Server (4 Bytes).
There may be issue in join condition, if not try applying filter in query -
Is there any impact on database if we change the time of server?
Hi,
Our DB server time is 45 minutes ahead of our application server. We have planned to reset the time of database server. Is there any impact on database if we change the timing of the server?

SQL> select systimestamp from dual;
SYSTIMESTAMP
23-APR-09 08.27.53.250947 PM +05:30That's an application question, not an Oracle question.
Oracle doesn't care what time it is or when the time changes. Your application(s), however, may care. If you use SYSDATE to populate a row and rely on the date later to be unique or to indicate the actual order rows were inserted, changing the date on the server, particular moving it backwards, might cause problems for your application. Does your application have problems running during daylight savings time changes?

Where is the URL of Report Manager stored in ReportServer Database?
Hi there!
I am trying to create reports based on the ReportServer database for multple SSRS instances.
Does anyone know where the URL of reportmanager is store? Or the SSRS instance name?
I cant find it in any table..
Thanks,
ZoeHello Zoe,
The machine + instance name is store in ReportServer database in table "dbo.Keys", but note: One RS database can be used by several instances, so you can have several entries here.

Reporting on a MS Access Database
Hello All,
Here is what we want to achieve. Business in the short run wants to do their reporting on a MS Access Database.
This Access database sits on a shared secure Windows network drive.
Our server is a Solaris box. Will ODBC work fine? Also how do I create a DSN on the Solaris box for the Access Database?
Do I also need a Access driver on the Solaris box?
Thanks!!what ever i know, the drivers under the odbc folder supports to create odbc connection to BI server. I am not sure about that folder containing Micorsoft Access Driver.
On the top of my head, i did not remember the syntax. May be you need to mention database=file path.
Here is a link for a product, which works with gui to create DSN in Unix based systems, This support Access DB in Unix.
http://www.unixodbc.org/
If you are not interested to use this product, just install it and create DSN to Access Database and look for OBDC.ini for what changes it made. and use those syntaxes. Remove the product from machine.
thanks

Can Reporting Services 2005 report on SQL Server 2012 database?
We would like to upgrade our SQL Server from Standard 2005 to Enterprise/Standard 2012. Unfortunately, we also have a lot of reports based on Reporting Services 2005. If possible we would like avoid upgrading them at this time.
Is it possible to run Reporting Services 2005 of SQL Server 2012? If yes then is there pre-requiste like drivers or dll or any other to connect SSRS 2005 to SQL server 2012?
If we run Reporting Services 2005 of SQL Server 2012 then do we will face performance lag issue due to version difference of SSRS 2005 and SQL server 2012?Moderators,
Can anyone merge this -

Report Builder 3.0 odbc database name using parameters
I am using an ODBC connection for my Datasource in a report (MYSQL).
I have a valid connection for the report using a database name in the connection string i.e. 'BOE-201402'.
However I need to be able to allow the user to run the report using different databases.
I can get a list of the databases as a parameter by setting a dataset using the following
SELECT `SCHEMA_NAME` FROM `information_schema`.`SCHEMATA` WHERE `SCHEMA_NAME` LIKE 'BOE-%' ORDER BY `SCHEMA_NAME` DESC;
i.e.
BOE-201402
BOE-201401
I have set a parameter called @BOE_DATABASE from the drop down list provided above.
What I need to do is before rendering the report is to be able to point the datasource to the database stored in @BOE_DATABASE so that the results that are in the report come from the chosen database.
I am sure that there is a way to do this as I have done this using ACTUATE BIRT reporting tool which we want to replace urgently with Microsoft SQL
I would sincerely like to thank any quick response on this matterHi Leslie,
Thank you for your post.

Installation BOBJ XI 3 on UNIX ( Sun Solaris ) with Oracle database
Hi All,
I want to deploy and install BOBJ XI Enterprise 3.1 on Sun Solaris with oracle database.
My question is, do we need to add some oracle licenses stuff in BOBJ XI Enterprise server or we just using a connection from Sun Solaris to oracle database ?
Pls Advise,
Rgds,
DennyHi Denny,
the risk is the same whatever DB server you are using. Once you have a setup where more than one application access the server, overload caused by one application can influence the performance of the other ones. You have to check if your DB vendor offers tools to monitor and limit the load on your DB server. But we are talking hypothetically now. I would recommend to check what's the actual load on your oracle DB server. If the server is not working at the limit (let's over 80% all the time), then I think that you can try to install BOBJ also in an existing oracle instance on the oracle server. You can reduce the risk and make the maintenance easier if you setup a dedicated oracle instance on your DB server just for the BOBJ repository.

PARALLEL_MAX_SERVERS, how it can impact my database
Hello, I´m trying to do a select with 200 parallels, using the parallel hint to do it. But my PARALLEL_MAX_SERVERS by default is 96, I can change this number , but I would like to know how this change can impact my database. I read in the Oracle Guide, that "If you set it too high, memory resource shortages may occur during peak periods, which can degrade performance.", but i want to know if it´s only the PGA or there´s another place.
The database is the 10g R2.
Thanks,user651186 wrote:

The database is the 10g R2.Simply setting the parameter to a higher value doesn't impact your database. I guess the comment is more targeted towards the excessive usage of parallel slaves which is possible if you use a high degree of parallelism and/or simultaneous execution of multiple parallel operations (if PARALLEL_ADAPTIVE_MULTI_USER setting is not active) and PARALLEL_MAX_SERVERS / PROCESSES allow such a high number of processes.
You may allow the question how do you come to the conclusion to run a statement with a parallel degree of 200 if your default value of PARALLEL_MAX_SERVERS is 96 which suggests that you don't have that many CPUs in your system (at least which are visible to Oracle, check CPU_COUNT parameter).

lindHello,
If you are using the "Paper Layout", check the Reports's "Before Report Value" property:
Before Report Value :

Problem with Crystal reports for Eclipse and Postgres-databases
Hi,
Is there a known problem when using a PostgreSQL-database to create a report with Crystal reports Plugin? When I drag a table, then occurs a error-windows, that the object can't created.
I have found a workaround for solving the problem. After new installing Eclipse Platform Version: 3.4.1 Build id: M20080911-1700 and Crystal reports Plugin 11.8.6.v1371 with JRE 1.6.0_01 the error message allways occurs, when I select a table from a PostgreSQL database (Version 8.2). After restarting eclipse you see the last selected tables in the field explorer and you can drag the table fields in the report. A repeated choice of the same table causes aliases for the table in the field explorer after restarting eclipse.

Best Regards
ArnoldYour issue appears to be a Crystal Reports for Eclipse report designer thing, and not a JRC runtime thing. The JRC runtime does support Type 4 JDBC drivers, but all modern PostgreSQL drivers are Type 4.
The current report designer is more restrictive than the JRC runtime - and PostgreSQL, being not on the supported platforms list, has never been tested with the embedded designer.
Unless there's anybody out there with experience with PostgreSQL and CR4E designer, who would be willing to share their experiences.
Sincerely,
Ted Ueda -

Crystal Report Viewer Not Releasing Oracle Database Connections
I have a very simple vb.net 3.5 web application that uses the Crystal Report viewer 2008 to open a report. My requirements are as follows:
1. Reports are built by another company and provided to us and used in a web environment
2. All reports contain parameter fields
3. The web application must be generic enough that a report can be added to a list and the user simply selects the report and provides database login information. The Crystal report viewer with handle the request for parameter values and prompt the user for their values.
4. All reports connect to an Oracle 10g server.
The above requirements have been meet and we have an extremely simple web application that runs the reports. It is working very well other than the crystal report viewer is not releasing the database connections. This is bad because the credentials are on a per user basis and that same user must login to a different oracle application simultaneously. They are being denied access because the credentials are already in use. We do not have control nor influence over the policies in use on the Oracle server. Ideally we would like to control the Crystal Report viewer so that it closes connections after use.
The web application code is:
Private Sub viewReports_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
If Not IsPostBack Then
ConfigureCrystalReport()
End If
End Sub
Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReport()
'Load the Crystal Report viewer with a report.
Try
Dim reportPath As String = Server.MapPath(Session("reportname"))
crViewer.ReportSource = reportPath
Catch ex As Exception
Response.Write(Server.MapPath(Session("reportname")) & "
" & ex.Message.ToString & "
" & ex.StackTrace.ToString)
End Try
End Sub
Can anyone shed some light on this topic? Thank youHello, Timothy;
By default, having the report in session will hold it open for 20 minutes.
If you create the report as a ReportDocument object you can take it out of session and release it more efficiently. That will release the connection.
Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReports()
If (Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport") Is Nothing) Then
hierarchicalGroupingReport = New ReportDocument()
hierarchicalGroupingReport.Load(Server.MapPath("Hierarchical Grouping.rpt"))
Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport") = hierarchicalGroupingReport
Else
hierarchicalGroupingReport = CType(Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport"), ReportDocument)
End If
myCrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = hierarchicalGroupingReport
End Sub
In the Form Unload of the Viewer:
'Take the report out of session
Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport") = Nothing
Session.Contents.Remove("hierarchicalGroupingReport")
'Clean up the ReportDocument object
hierarchicalGroupingReport.Close
hierarchicalGroupingReport.Dispose()
hierarchicalGroupingReport = Nothing
GC.Collect()
