Save a Copy switches my Firefox 5.0 tab or window

As a student who must cite my sources, I save PDFs in folders labeled with the website name or, in the case of school district websites, URL. That's become a bit impossible to do now because clicking on the "Save a copy" icon in Adobe Reader X 10.1.0 causes the "Save as" dialog window to appear in front of a webpage on a different browser window I have open in Firefox 5.0 or, if only one Firefox window is open, on a different tab! It's driving me batty, and I was hoping someone might be able to tell me precisely what is causing the problem and how to fix it.

In firefox 5.0, tab to window freezes

I downloaded firefox 5.0 and I have two tabs open, I slide one tab to make a new window in windows 7 and both tabs freeze after the one tab becomes a new window.

You can check the value of the pref browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent to see if it is still true.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.
This issue also can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

UAC keeps popping up when firefox opens new tab or window

Since of today everytime when i open firefox UAC keeps popping up.
I dont want to dissable UAC so i hope there is an solution for this problem.

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.
If you can't make the changes then you need to start Windows Explorer as Administrator.

"Save a copy" crash

Intermittently I am experiencing crashes that occur when I interact with the timeline, either clicking and dragging the playhead, clicking to a new time altogether, or selecting a different footage item.
The crash starts as a "Save a Copy" window prompt, and whether I do save a copy or cancel, the program closes with the Windows Error reporting.
When I try to restart AE, nothing happens. I found that the AfterFX.exe process is still running and will not quit no matter how many times I hit End Process.
A reboot is then necessary to clear the slate. Anyone else experiencing similar? My project is fairly simple I thinkjust a few graphics, QT movie and audio. I'm using minimal effects, though I suspect FEC Light Sweep (v5.1) may be contributing.

I worked on it yesterday for a few hours without incident. I also recall an issue with an earlier version of the Light Sweep plug-in and multiprocessors.
I'll have to see if I can dig that up.

Firefox process running, but no window?

Firefox crashed while I was away from my
computer (Windows XP, FF 7.0.1). Re-starting
caused the firefox.exe process to appear in the
task manager, along with 7 plugin-container.exe
processes, but no Firefox window appeared.
Re-booting and re-starting FF gave the same
result. Then, after several minutes, while
reporting this bug via IE, suddenly the FF
window appeared, and restored the tabs that had
been up when it crashed.

No Save a Copy icon for Adobe Reader 9, using Win 7, IE or Firefox

The Save A Copy icon is no longer shown when I bring up my paycheck stub (and I am certainly authorized for that site). I can view my files but there is no icon to save the PDF to disc. It does not matter whether I go to that site with IE or with Firefox. I am using Windows 7. Thank you anyone that can help me.

Cookie Exception List - How do you save it, copy it, and reload it to another instance of Firefox on a different machine? What is the file name/s that are used?
I have to upgrade machines regularly and do not wane to have to re-type all those blocked cookie address' into each new instance of Firefox.

The file "permissions.sqlite" stores 'allow' and 'block' exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and extensions (software) installation.

This is not a question. I believe I've found a new issue and the fix for it.
The situation:
A brand new iMac 27" running Yosemite 10.10.1
MacMini server running 10.8.5 server.
The issue:
Client on iMac trying to work on MS Word documents stored on server was requiring him to save the documents to his desktop and then copy them back to the folder on the server. The exact error message was, "This file is read-only. To save a copy, click OK, and give the document a new name in the save dialog box."
The issue is unique to this computer in an office of 10 client computers and three servers.
Attempted fixes:
Verified that the ".Temporaryitems" folder existed and the permissions were set properly.
Repaired permissions on the client and the network share.
Definitive fix:
By default, Yosemite 10.10.1 uses SMB for connecting file shares. When I overrode the default and switched to AFP protocol, the issue went away.
I hope this helps someone else.

That was it. What an operating system. It is very helpful to view files you are looking for. But if you have preview on you cannot save files.

Save a copy appears in a protected PDF

Hi,
Here in company, we use an Intranet to release some documents, like Manufacturing Instructions, Internal Procedures and Part Drawings.
We create these documents using PDF Creator, and disabling printing, copy and modify the document because it's confidential.
The problem is: when I open these files on IE (or Chrome or Firefox), even protected, the save a copy button appears.
I've tried to hide the button, but disable saving for others websites.
Have anyone seen this?
We use on most machines, Windows XP SP3, Internet Explorer 8 and Reader 8, 9, X and XI. We have Windows 7 and 8 also.
Any help are welcome!

Well, all options are disabled: to print, extract pages, sign, copy, etc.
But, if I open these files directly on Reader, printing and saving options on toolbar are disabled.
This only occurs when I do on Internet Explorer.
There's no problem at all if shows the button, but my problem is the function of the button.
If I can do this on IE and save button disabled, for me it's okay.
What I don't understand is why in a protected file from saving, appears save a copy option.

Unable to Save a copy of Pdf

Hi All, I have a Pdf which i can open through adobe reader but When trying to save a copy of pdf as File -> Save As after opening a downloaded pdf, it gives an error message as "There was an error processing a page. There was a problem reading this document(135).
While clicking OK in the error message by Pressing “Ctrl” key, we get an informational message as “Dictionary keys must be direct name objects”
The issue occurs only in Adobe Reader , its working fine in Foxit Reader.
Kindly Share your suggestions.

The issue is not specific with Operating System or browser. I tried with Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 and also tested with browsers of IE 8-11, Firefox 25-26, Chrome 33.
Source of PDF: PDF geneated using PD4ML using java code with HTML Content. The issue occurs for specific PDFs only.

Is Firefox 15 compatible with Windows 7- my computer god says"Firefox won't work in Windows 7" so no windows 7 unless I'm willing to switch to IE?

Looking for information I can (possibly) understand and she (person selling me my next computer with Windows 7), might be willing to look into & re-think. I prefer (most of the time) FF to IE. Although I'm willing, if necessary, to switch from Eudora (my choice) to Outlook (she says both are not compatible with Windows 7), I'm less willing to do so with FF. (Although, more & more with so increasingly many FF 'upgrades', I have become less enamored with FF.)

Hi Phyllis! Just to set things clear, Firefox IS compatible with Windows 7.

I don't use Eudora so I can't say anything about it. But just by searching around, the reason why Eudora has difficulty running in Windows 7 is that it saves files to a location that is protected in Windows 7. That means no programs may automatically save files there. There are probably some workarounds but I don't know enough about them to comment about here.
The main point is that the Firefox browser runs perfectly fine in Windows 7. I'm typing this on Firefox 15.0.1 in Windows 7 64-bit right now too.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

A smaller "save a copy" screen

Here is my problem. When I open PDFs in my firefox browser and want to save a copy onto my computer, and I click the "save" button, the "save a copy" screen (where you type in the name you want to give the file) opens in my browser as full-screen. I need it to open smaller-- the same size as "save" screens on other applications-- because I need to also see details about the PDF that I will give to the name. (I'm a scientist, and I'm usually saving the names of journal articles, so I want to get the author's name and title of the article written into the PDF name; it isn't always easy to memorize that, especially with unusual author names.) Is there a way to make the "save copy" box smaller?

Internet Explorer 8.0 did the same thing. This was one of the reasons why I started using Firefox to download all images. I went into Tools>Options and it only lets me set another folder. I dont want to set a specific folder I want it to always go to the last folder used. So what gives?

Thanks jscher 2000. I guess I didn't make it clear. "It restarts with all the addons activated, and resumes with the tabs that were open before closing it." IE, it's running fine now with all the extensions activated. Everything is OK now.
So something in the Firefox code was causing the bad behavior. It's not essential that I find out what the problem was - I'm just curious. And if anybody else has this same problem, it might be nice to have it corrected at the source.
