Save as type using Vista

Hi All,
I am saving an IMAQ image and would like to have the option of having the File Dialog box allow me to save as different formats.
We have a solution for this at:
http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=16648&query.id=392066
However, these vi's don't work in Windows Vista.
The problem appears to be in the "MSComDlg.ICommonDialog" control which is probably different for Vista.
Anyone have any solutions?
Thank You,
Earl
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Good point but I don't want to simply open or save a file.
As I had mentioned,  the thread I had specified at:
http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=16648&query.id=392066
has a solution for this drop down but doesn't seem to work with Vista.
I have used a thread going back to 2001 because it is the only thread with a solution.
I have called NI service and was informed that that is not an existing option.
The vi specified works with "MSDialog.." and appears to be a ".NET" finction.
Attached is a picture of the desired behavior that I want to try to get working with Vista.
Thank You,
Earl

  • How to pre-define the "save as type" using fileDialog or fileChooser?

    Hello everyone,
    I have a fileDialog. I now want to save a file by specified extensions i.e. docs,gif,etc. How can I do that? by default, the "save as type" box is "all files".
    thanks a lot
    SQ

    if you are using the java.awt.FileDialog,
    call its .setFilenameFilter() method, passing to it
    an instance of java.io.FilenameFilter, in which you override the
    .accept(File dir, String name) method
    to specify the file extensions you'd like. You'll have to do some pattern matching of the extended characters (*.___)...
    if you're using JFileChooser, do similar calling
    .setFileFilter(javax.swing.filechooser.FileFilter) setting an instance of FileFilter that overrides its
    .accept(File file) method.
    Hope that helps.

  • Using Sothink video downloader, normally video files are save in FLV extension. Now for whatever reason suddenly my video files are save in .ebm extension. "Save file Type As" is peg only on .EBM extension

    Using Sothink video downloader, normally by default my video files are save in FLV extension. Now for whatever reason suddenly my video files are save in .ebm extension & I can't open my video file. "Save file Type As" -to select file extension does not seem to work -

    It's a WEBM video file. My solution was to rename the file to have .webm extension, and play it with the latest VLC Player (2.1, but I think any from 1.1 and upper will solve it too). Just associate .ebm with VLC didn't work. I had to rename the files so VLC knew exactly what that thing was.
    By the way, it worked the same way with a .eam file (!), I just renamed the extension to .webm.

  • Unable to download using Vista; FF goes to run or save; I've selected both; download goes thru "downloading" and then disappears; can't find anywhere; have tried this many, many times on two identical computer setups.

    Have tried many times to download both Firefox and Thunderbird on two 2-year old, rarely used, identical computers, both using Vista. (I downloaded both successfully on an old computer using XP.) The program goes thru the downloading process; alternately I've told it to "run", "save", "save to desktop", "save to my documents folder on desktop." It disappears when through downloading. I've checked in these folders plus temporary folder as found through "tools/internet options. I've tried to find these downloads by using "run" and using every word I can think of to help find them (temporary folder/or User/my name/firefox 3.6.9.ext and others. Get the message can't be found. A: Why won't AirPort Utility find my Netgear Router?
    AirPort Utility works only with an Apple router, as does the utility for a Netgear work only with a Netgear router.
    B: Why won't AirPort utility find my AirPort Express?
    Any of 3-4 common reasons. We'll have to work on troubleshooting that.
    C: Why, on the two occasions the AP Utility did find the APE, did it not give me the option anywhere to set it up as an EXTENDER to the current network?
    Apple designed the wireless "extend" feature on their routers to only work with other Apple routers.
    D: Is there any other way to add the APE to my network as desired without using AP Utility?
    No
    Not sure how you want to proceed at this point. It might be possible to use the AirPort Express to extend the Netgear network if you connect it using a permanent, wired Ethernet cable connection back to the Netgear router.
    If you cannot run the Ethernet cable, your best bet by far is to use another Netgear extender or repeater, which would likely be compatible with your Netgear router.

  • 'Save as Type' box in 'Save As' dialog box

    I recently downloaded 'Rocket PDF' and now if I try to save any PDF. document, the only choices in the 'save as type' box are 'Rocket PDF' or 'All files'. No more 'Adobe Reader PDF. appears as a choice. I uninstalled 'Rocket PDF' and in the 'Default changes' I put 'Adobe Reader as the default to open 'PDF.'. Still, the only choices on the 'save as type ' are 'Rocket PDF' or 'All files'! How do I get Adobe Reader PDF' back as a choice in the 'save as type' box and delete 'Rocket PDF' as a choice?

    Sorry I wasn't clear! When I try to save a 'PDF' file the "save as" dialog box opens. At the bottom the 'file name'is listed and below that it says, "save as type". You then pick what file type you want, like Adobe Reader for PDF. It used to say Adobe Reader as one of the choices but when I downloaded "Rocket PDF" it only says "Rocket PDF or "all files" as the only choices to save the document, no more Adobe Reader as a choice. I have deleted Rocket PDF and under 'default programs (Start button) I have set the "Pdf. files to open with Adobe Reader. Rocket PDF is still listed or' all files', nothing else! How can I get Adobe Reader as a choice back in the 'save as type' box?
    Thanks for any help.

  • Translation keys for 'save as type' in 'save as...' dialog

    Hi all,
    I am currently working on a custom "save as..." dialog using the ISaveFileDialog interface.
    On a certain point I have to insert the various types to which you can save an object.
    In an AddType() method I get a ISaveFileDialog *dlg as a parameter. After that I want to add the types to the 'save as type' filter.
    I want the types to be translatable if you change the language of InDesign.
    My problem is that I can only find InCopy related translation keys, such as "InCopyInterchange" and "InCopyInterchangeTemplate"
    and I can not find any keys for translating an InDesign docuement (idd) and InCopy Template (indt) format string.
    Thing as
    PMString inDesignDoc( "InDesign Document" );
    inDesignDoc.Translate();
    PMString inDesignDoc( "InDesign Template" );
    inDesignDoc.Translate();
    do not work.
    Can someone please help me on this?
    Thanks in advance

    Unfortunately (and I don't understand why) Adobe does not publish all their string key constants for plug-in developers to use. There is a small subset in SDKdef.h lines 238 - 257, but the rest is for you to supply.

  • Need help adding a default file name in a file chooser of save dialog type

    I need to create a file chooser with save dialog type, how can I add a highlighted default file name into the File Name textfield? As in Microsoft Word, when you want to save a document, a default file name Doc1.doc will appear in the File name text field of the file chooser even when you change to other directories.

    For JRE 1.4.0 you can use this fix:
    public class FileChooserFix implements PropertyChangeListener {
      private String fileName;
       * @see PropertyChangeListener
      public void propertyChange(PropertyChangeEvent ev) {
        JFileChooser chooser = (JFileChooser)ev.getSource();
        if (JFileChooser.FILES_ONLY == chooser.getFileSelectionMode()) {
          if (JFileChooser.SELECTED_FILE_CHANGED_PROPERTY.equals(ev.getPropertyName())) {
            File selectedFile = (File)ev.getNewValue();
            if (selectedFile != null) {
              // remember fileName of selected file
              fileName = selectedFile.getName();
          if (fileName != null &&
              JFileChooser.DIRECTORY_CHANGED_PROPERTY.equals(ev.getPropertyName())) {
            // reset selected file
            File directory = (File)ev.getNewValue();
            chooser.setSelectedFile(new File(directory, fileName));
       * Convenience method to create a fixed file chooser.
       * @return      fixed file chooser
      public static JFileChooser create() {
        JFileChooser chooser = new JFileChooser();
        chooser.addPropertyChangeListener(new FileChooserFix());
        return chooser;

  • When I right click on a web image to save, the Save Image popup box has nothing listed in the "Save as type" box at the bottom just below "File Name"

    When I attempt to save an image from a web site page, I right click and then the Save Image popup appears. At the bottom of the popup, the "File name" box will contain the appropriate file name of the image. However, in the "Save as Type" box, there is nothing listed and I can't enter a file extension, such as JPEG. What then is saved is just a thumbnail image

  • Saving a file - Save as type

    I would like to have a file-save dialog with the standard drop-down list with pre-defined file types as seen in most programs today. However, in LabVIEW I cannot find a simple way of doing this. Any suggestions?

    LabVIEW-guru,
    Thanks for your suggestions.
    Before I posted this question I was actually contemplating on writing my own VI for doing this. I started the effort but soon I decided to not continue. Why? Well, why did I want this functionality in the first place?
    My goal is to have a LabVIEW application that does not shine “I am written in LabVIEW”. With LabVIEW 6i it is almost possible to do this. Almost. I am a Die Hard supporter of LabVIEW and I am more than happy with the power LabVIEW 6i gives me in creating programs for controlling my measurements.
    Ok, so what options did I have for this particular application. The obvious solution is to first have a pop-up dialog that asks for the desired format. The program
    then uses this information when calling the standard dialog for saving a file. However, doing this leaves behind a sense that this is a home-brew solution. The suggestion you had of writing my own VI seems the best way to do it. But! The listbox, that one needs to list the directory, with its symbols does not look exactly as the windows equivalent. I have not figured out how to get the symbols in color. Also, I faced problem with the dialogring used at the top for selecting higher level directories. It seems that I cannot use symbols in it. Those two problems defeat the purpose by writing my own VI. If I can’t get it to look like a standard save-dialog, I might as well go for the fist solution, which is by far easiest, using an extra dialog asking for the file format.
    But who knows... in LabVIEW 7i (?) I might be able to just wire an array of strings to the file dialog to be used for the Save-as-type selection.... If NI is listening...this would be a neat feature!!

    ll for being part of DE! It is a big help for us all! /Mikael Garcia

  • Exporting to MS Excel - default "save as" type

    We have written code in our application that exports the
    results of the in MS Excel format and everything works fine except
    for one minor thing using IE. When the user is prompted, they can
    either "open" or "save". If they choose "save", it saves it fine as
    a MS Excel file type. However, if they choose "open" (which does
    open perfectly fine in Excel), but then they later choose the "Save
    As" option from MS Excel's menu, the default "Save As" type now
    becomes "Web Page (*.htm; *.html). It actually saves fine as an
    Excel document, but our customers are concerned about it because
    this is going to be a public application and they are worried that
    it might confuse the end-users. So what I'm really asking is if
    there's a way to programmatically control the default "Save As"
    type from within MS Excel? I've attached a small snippet of our
    code which details how we are performing the export.

  • Condition type used for invoice list

    Hello Gurus,
            following condition type used for invoice list, why do they exit in invoice list:
             RL00    MW15.  LR00    RD01

    Hi,
    Please go through the below document
    When you work with invoice lists, you need to be familiar with the following concepts:
    Prerequisites for invoice lists
    Relationship to Pricing
    Structure of an Invoice List
    Changing header and item data
    Integration with financial accounting (FI)
    Prerequisites
    You can only process invoice lists if the following prerequisite data is defined by your system administrator in Customizing for Sales:
    Condition type RL00 (factoring discount) must be maintained and, if required, also the condition type MW15.
    An invoice list type must be assigned to each billing type that you want to process in invoice lists. The standard version of the SAP R/3 System includes two types of invoice lists: LR for invoices and debit memos, LG for credit memos.
    Copying requirements must be defined (for example, the payer, terms of payment and other fields that must be identical in the documents to be included in the invoice list)
    In addition, before you process an invoice list, you must maintain the following master data:
    A customer calendar must be defined, specifying the time intervals or dates on which invoice lists are to be processed.
    The customer calendar must be entered in the Billing Sales Area view of the customer master record.
    Pricing condition records for the condition type RL00 and, if necessary, (e.g. in Germany) the condition type MW15 must be maintained.
    Output condition records for condition types LR00 and RD01 must be created.
    Relationship to Pricing
    The system processes factoring discounts in invoice lists in exactly the same way as other kinds of pricing elements. The data for the factoring discount is stored in condition records. Controlling during document processing is carried out via condition types, pricing procedures and access sequences. This control data is defined in Customizing for Sales by your system administrator.
    For further information, see  Conditions and Pricing.
    Structure of an Invoice List
    An invoice list represents an individual billing document. It consists of a document header and document items. Each item represents a billing document that you have included in the invoice list. The header contains an overview of summary information, such as the net value of all documents in the invoice list, the value of the factoring discount, details of taxes, and so on. It also contains information on partners and output.
    Changing Header and Item Data
    You can change some of the header data - for example, the billing date - when you process the invoice list. You can change an item - either an individual or collective invoice - and display document details. However, you cannot change any data in individual billing documents once they are part of an invoice list.
    It is possible, however, to make certain global changes to output in all items in an invoice list.
    For further information on output, see  Communication in Sales and Distribution Processing.
    Integration With Financial Accounting (FI)
    The documents that you want to combine within an invoice list must already have been billed and forwarded to Financial Accounting. Here the billing documents intended for an invoice list are blocked for normal dunning transactions.
    The dunning block on FI documents is lifted as soon as you create an invoice list and transfer it to FI . The system then calculates the new dunning date for the invoice on the basis of the invoice list date.
    In addition, the system enters invoice list numbers in the FI documents as reference numbers. Invoice list numbers can then be entered for incoming payments.
    When you save the invoice list, the system automatically creates an accounting document for the factoring discount and possible taxes and posts it to the corresponding G/L account in FI.

    Murthy

  • Can't save an image used as link

    After I updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.0.1, I noticed I can no longer save images  that are being used as links on websites. Using the usual method of holding my finger on these type of images, brings up the following options: "Open", "Open in New Page", and "Add to Reading List". It doesn't seem to have the option to save this type of images any more. (I can still save images that aren't being used as links just fine.)

    Try doing a "Save As".

  • When I click on "Save Image As" the "Save AS Type" line is blank and I can't save a downloaded image.

    On Fox, when I right click on an image I get the option "Save Image As" then on the next window the "save as Type" line is blank, and the image can't be saved.
    I copy the www. address and paste it on internet Explorer, and the save process goes routinely.

    Hey cor-el, that was the next in the list
    1-14-22 3PM JAG to Firefox
    The next step in the "Unable to download or save files" section of help states:
    Reset download actions for all file types
    To reset how all file types are handled by Firefox back to default:
    1. Open your profile folder:
    1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button, go over to the Help menu (on Windows XP, click on the Help menu) and select Troubleshooting Information. The Troubleshooting Information tab will open.
    2. Under the Application Basics section, click on Open Containing Folder. A window with your profile files will open.
    Note: If you are unable to open or use Firefox, follow the instructions in Finding your profile without opening Firefox.
    2. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (File menu in Windows XP) and then click Exit.
    3. Rename the mimeTypes.rdf file to mimeTypes.rdf.old .
    4. Restart Firefox.
    Steps 2+3 are in reverse order
    I did this and now there are 2 files. The old one has a “date modified” of 12-27-11 a couple weeks before the problem, and the new one modified today.
    No change in the problem.
