Save contents of editable alv into dbtable

Hi All,
I have an alv output with editable fields. This output has the contents some from an itab and some are hardcoded in the program. Now I have edited the contents in the alv o/p.
Now I want to save the contents of the alv o/p fully into the dbtable.
Please suggest how to do this.

STEP :1.
In the PBO of the Screen in Which you are designed your container for output - SET the PF-STATUS.
Example : SET PF-STATUS '1500'.
In this PF Status you activate the SAVE Button.
I think for SAVE Button the sy-ucomm = 'SPOS'.
STEP 2:
In the PAI of the Screen in Which you are designed your container for output.
Write the below code.
IF SY-UCOMM = 'SPOS'.
    CALL METHOD G_GRID->CHECK_CHANGED_DATA
      IMPORTING
        E_VALID = L_VALID.
    IF L_VALID EQ 'X'.
      CALL METHOD G_GRID->GET_SELECTED_ROWS
        IMPORTING
          ET_ROW_NO = LT_ROW_NO[].
    ENDIF.
At this Point your output table will have the modified values.
Now you can proceed it to update the database table.
ENDIF.

Hi all,
I am using an editable ALV in webdynpro using which I would like to save some data to a table. In the list of standard functions, I see only options like 'Insert row', 'Delete row' etc. There is no option to Save the edited data.
Even if I declare a user defined function, how do I specify the action it would trigger? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Nithya,
Once you edit an ALV, the data is automatically updated to the context node, you map in the DATA field of controller usage (of the component usage).
If you want to trigger event for change in ALV, see the below tutorial.

If you want to trigger a event for user defined function,
Create a event handler method in the view. Specify event,
   ON_FUNCTION of the interface controller of ALV for the event handler method.
The importing parameter r_param of the method contains unique ID of the
   function for which the UI element is assigned.

How to save contents of a structure into a field (of type LRAW) of a table?

Hi,
I've got a structure, with a few fields, some being char fields and some of type decimals and would like to save the contents into a field of a table, which is of type LRAW.
I know that I've got to also update the table with the correct length of the value stored in LRAW, and have done that, but it seems to have lost the end bits of the LRAW field.
Also, can I also find out how I can then retrieve the LRAW value after it's being saved? This needs to be done as later on, we would have to move the values from LRAW into the initial structure it came from.

Invoke Save Content on Assigned TextFrame

Hi,
I'm trying to solve one situation... when assigned story is in status "In use and out of date". This one is quite disturbing for client (even more for developer) and could lead to unwanted direction like - getting back the old content and loosing any modification which you entered. If you want to reproduce it, it is very easy:
1. Create incopy assigned text frame
2. Save it, save document
3. Check Out the Story
4. Enter some content
5. Save document
--- at this point everything is cool and status of Story is "In Use"
6. Enter content and hit "UNDO"
--- at this point you get "In Use and Out of Date" status
One solution to solve this is that you just hit Save and Assignment is "In use" status or you could do Save Content from Edit->InCopy menu or from "right click on text frame" pop-up menu just for that Story.
Now, the question is... is there a solution to do "Save Content" by scripting... no metter what is selected at that point. Something like:
For (Browse through all Assignments)
--- If (Assignment is in status "In use and out of date")
--- --- Do the Save Content for that Assignment
--- End If
Next
And just to be clear - not to use the InvokeMenu method.

Hi Jarek,
I agree that "out of date" status is very needed and shows to client if the change is made to TextFrame... but take a look again in that little icon over the frame (my screenshot)...
The icon says - "In use and out of date"... this is situation from InDesign which you can reproduce without another user doing check out/check in in InCopy. So - only you and nobody else. The icon means that you are editing the content of the frame and in the same time - your content needs an update?!
Just to mention that this situation I couldn't reproduce in InCopy. Here you will find very simple explanation about this icon and some comments.

And because you can not be absolutely sure that client will not hit Save and Undo, I would like to implement in my editorial system workflow, a peace of code which will check the assignments and when spot that status -> do something... alert, message, save content, save doc or else...
I would appreciate if someone could provide me even with little help on how to catch this status in InDesign.

Developer, I have requirement to save registration data into rtf file.. These can only be done by if I put rich edit box to fill the data.. Now if I am going to write the code for saving the data of different rich edit box into one particular file, it
only saves the data of last rich edit box.. So plzz suggest that how can I save the contents of different rich edit box together into one rtf file.

Ok Nishant, just did some quick research, since rtf file is unlike txt file, we cannot simply directly write some content to the rtf.
You can try to find some third party code that can help you insert text into rtf file or you would like to load the content from rtf out to the richeditbox and merge them to one richeditbox and then save back to the file.

Editable ALV dumps when second save

Hi,
I have a editable ALV and possibility to save changed rows (atleast one changed cell content). First save goes ok, but second fails in following code,

It seems that on second loop it cannot find the original rowid.

Save changed data in editable ALV

Hi experts,
I have a problem with an editable ALV. I get data out of a table and show it with my web dynpro application in an alv. Now I made the alv editablke, so that I can change the content of each cell in the alv in the web browser. But how will this changed data be saved? I want that it will be changed after ENTER or clicking a save button. I have a button, but all I tried yet brought no success.
Which code has to be in which method? Have I to do something eith the context. How can I reach that the changed content is also changed in the table, so that after reload the web dynpro application, the changed content is shown?
It would be nice if you had an answer with code examples and the exact place where to put it in, because I am very new to ABAP and WD4A.

If you look on the following lokn, there is the tutorial "Editing ALV in Web Dynpr for ABAP".
There is described how to save the data. But in the implementation of On_data_check on page 8 and 9 the code detail for saving the data to database is missing, because the flight model shall not be changed.
Would the missing code be the solution? What is the code?

Editable ALV with SAVE option

Hi experts,
Could you plz provede me an example for an EDITABLE ALV with the SAVE option. i.e. i could edit the ALV output and after the changes i should save the changes i made by clicking SAVE button.

How to save the content of a JTextArea into a txt file?

Hi, I want to save the content of a JTextArea into a txt file line by line. Here is part of my code(catch IOException part is omitted):

How to save them line by line? Use a PrintWriter. It lets you write lines (it's the same class as System.out).

Albums are lists which are stored into catalogs. They don't contain the images, they just keep a pointer to where the pictures are stored in your computer and the order to display them.
So your problem is with catalogs, not with albums.
If you have missed the message to convert the old current catalog at installation time, that's not a problem. You can use the menu File in the organizer, select 'Manage catalogs' which will show a 'convert' button. That is also necessary if you have more than one catalog.
The catalog is not a single file, it's a folder containing the main database, catalog.pse13b as well as other files and subfolders. The location of your current catalog can be found with the menu Help/System Info of the organizer. If you want to use another catalog, the organizer will search for other catalogs and provide a list to choose from.

Capture contents from an editable alv

I'm trying to capture fields from an editable alv. I have an update button in the application toolbar. So when i press this button, whatever changes I have done on the screen, the internal table should get updated. I'm using the function module REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY.
Can anybody help me out??

Yes you can,
If you have access to the element in the context that is bound to the row in the ALV then you can connect the message. Marking a * is not possible by default with the WD message manager and you willl need to do it manually. Use the element method of the message manager API for this purpose.

Table Maintenance using Editable ALV

Check_changed_data method on editable ALV Grid ( class cl_gui_alv_grid)

Hi guys,
I use the following method (register_edit_event) in the PBO soon after first display of an editable ALV grid to register enter as an event to do validations on fields like qty. If user enters some character like 'abc' for qty and hits enter on keyboard, ALV grid pop's up a standard message ( I haven't coded for this.Since I use DDIC structure in field catalog, the Std. ALV program takes care of it. ). THis takes care of the validation before I click on save.

This works fine. But I want this validation to run when I also click the SAVE button of the screen. Is it possible to run this standard validation in my PAI event eg. SAVE ? I thought I will be, by calling the method check_changed_data in my PAI event. But this is doing nothing. Does this method conflict with register_edit_event or something ? So , basically what I am looking for is to trigger the event or call the method which does the same work as the "check" button on ALV grid.
Any advice or tips or sample code is greatly appreciated.

My changes edited on editable ALV report are not transferring back to itab?

I was developed a heirarchila editable ALV by using FM 'REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY'. The user will do some changes in the ITEMs (Z_VBAP_TABLE) on this heirarchila ALV report and presses the SAVE button.
In my program am handling this SAVE command and even my break point is also triggering at SAVE, but my ITAB is not having the CHANGED/new data!! still it has the old data in it! How to capture the user changes done on the report? those changes are not tranferring back to my itab/prog! because, ineed to update Z_VBAP_TABLE with those changes

This i did a long back. Check your code . I created an alv that will display data from my table . In this the user can click in any line item and he can change any value and press save that will save the value .
