Save data from a JTable to a file

I have been working with the Camickr's example:
package tabla;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import java.io.*;
import java.util.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import javax.swing.table.*;
public class MikeToth extends JFrame
     private JTable table;
     private DefaultTableModel model;
     public MikeToth()
          String aLine ;
          Vector columnNames = new Vector();
          Vector data = new Vector();
          try
               FileInputStream fin = new FileInputStream("MikeToth.txt");
               BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(fin));
               // extract column names
               StringTokenizer st1 = new StringTokenizer(br.readLine(), "|");
               while( st1.hasMoreTokens() )
                    columnNames.addElement(st1.nextToken());
               // extract data
               while ((aLine = br.readLine()) != null)
                    StringTokenizer st2 = new StringTokenizer(aLine, "|");
                    Vector row = new Vector();
                    while(st2.hasMoreTokens())
                         row.addElement(st2.nextToken());
                    data.addElement( row );
               br.close();
          catch (Exception e)
               e.printStackTrace();
          //  Create table using the DefaultTableModel
          model = new DefaultTableModel(data, columnNames);
          table = new JTable(model);
          JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane( table );
          getContentPane().add( scrollPane );
          JPanel buttonPanel = new JPanel();
          getContentPane().add( buttonPanel, BorderLayout.SOUTH );
          //  Empty Row button
          JButton button1 = new JButton( "Add Empty Row" );
          buttonPanel.add( button1 );
          button1.addActionListener( new ActionListener()
               public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
                    model.addRow( new Vector() );
          //  Save table to file button
          JButton button2 = new JButton( "Save Table to File" );
          buttonPanel.add( button2 );
          button2.addActionListener( new ActionListener()
               public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
                    //  Finish editing the current cell before saving
                       if  ( table.isEditing() )
                         int row = table.getEditingRow();
                         int col = table.getEditingColumn();
                         table.getCellEditor(row, col).stopCellEditing();
                    int rows = table.getRowCount();
                    int columns = table.getColumnCount();
                    //  Write out the Column Headers
                    TableColumnModel header = table.getColumnModel();
                    for (int k = 0; k < columns; k++)
                         TableColumn column = header.getColumn(k);
                         String value = (String)column.getHeaderValue();
                         System.out.print( value );
                         System.out.print( "|" );
                    System.out.println();
                    //  Write out the table data
                    try{
                           DataOutputStream out2 = new DataOutputStream(
                                      new BufferedOutputStream(
                                        new FileOutputStream("Data.txt")));
                          for (int j = 0; j < rows; j++)
                                   for (int k = 0; k < columns; k++)
                                       String value = (String)table.getValueAt(j, k);
                                        System.out.print( value );
                                        System.out.print( "|" );
                                        out2.writeBytes(",");
                                        out2.writeBytes(value);
                                   out2.close();
                                   System.out.println();
                    catch(IOException ee) {
                          throw new RuntimeException(ee);
     public static void main(String[] args)
          MikeToth frame = new MikeToth();
          frame.setDefaultCloseOperation( EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
          frame.pack();
          frame.setVisible(true);
}But i dont get good results. In the console the data are perfects: column's name in the first line, and the data of each row in different lines. But when i insert in the file the data are introduced serial in a single line. Example
In the console i get:
column1|column2
3 | 4
3 | 2
In the file i get:
3,4,3,2
Ok, my question is: can i get the data directly from the console and then introduce it in the file ( with the same format that in the console)??
Thanks for your time.

Never Mind, got it to. =)
this is how i made it work.
for (int j = 0; j < rows; j++)
                         for (int k = 0; k < columns; k++)
                              String value = (String)table.getValueAt(j, k);
                                                out.write("|");
                                                out.write( value );
                                         out.newLine();
                    }out.close();

  • What is the best way to save data from GPIB Device in a file?

    HI!
    I have a Keithley SourceMeter and want to save readings in a File along with settings on the front panel and timestamps plus several other infos. What is the best way to do this? Which file type? Any recommendations or hints could help me?
    Thanks

    Hi Andy,
    There are 3 main file formats that you can consider writing your data out to in LabVIEW:
    ASCII
    Binary
    Datalog
    ASCII
    ASCII files are useful because every operating system and almost every application can read/write ASCII format files. Use ASCII files when:
    Other users or applications will need to access the data file.
    You will not need to perform random access file I/O
    File I/O speed is not crucial
    Disk space is not crucial
    Examples within LabVIEW Example Finder: Fundamentals >> File Input and Output >> Write to Text File.vi and Read from Text File.vi
    Binary
    Binary byte stream files are more specific to data storage and retrieval. Use b
    inary files when:
    File I/O will remain in LabVIEW only -- no other applications will be needing to write/read that file. There is no standard formatting for binary files and thus other applications or operating systems may be unable to read the file.
    Files are smaller than ASCII files
    Easier and faster random access to data
    Examples within LabVIEW Example Finder: Fundamentals >> File Input and Output >> Write Binary File.vi and Read Binary File.vi
    Datalog
    When to use datalog:
    If you need to record data with a mixture of types, it can be cumbersome to convert everything to ASCII or to keep track of the binary formatting.
    Datalog format is binary and internal to LabVIEW, so again only use this format if no other applications or operating systems will be needing to perform file I/O on the file.
    Examples within LabVIEW Example Finder: Fundamentals >> File Input and Output >> Write Datalog File
    Example.vi and Read Datalog File Example.vi
    Good luck!

    Thanks in advance..

    Here is one code from my own my application. It should compile straight away, but if there are any compile time bugs, you can easily fix them. Pls do read the comments at the top.

    Is there any script which i can use for pulling data from tables to a flat file and then import that data to other DB'sFlat file is adequate only from VARCHAR2, NUMBER, & DATA datatypes.
    Other datatypes present a challenge within text file.
    A more robust solution is to use export/import to move data between Oracle DBs.

  • B2B adapter is not polling any data from EDI X12 810 ECS file

    Hi All,
    I am new to Oracle B2B. I am using
    Jdev 11.1.1.6
    Oracle Editor :  7.0.5.4016
    Document Protocol : EDI_X12
    Document type : 810 (Invoice )
    Version: 4010
    Weblogic server :11.1.1.6.0
    Requirement is : i had an EDI file and i need to translate the EDI map using the B2B adapter, transport to SOA Suite and insert into a custom DB.
    Issue  is : B2B adapter is not polling any data from EDI X12 810 ECS file
    for this i created sample EDI X12 810 ecs file, i converted the same to .xsd and .dat file. I created partner, and while configuring channel i used '*Generic File 1.0*' protocol and i given folder path( i also checked, by just giving folder Name) in the folder name property of 'Transport Protocol Parameters' , i also placed sample xml file into this folder. And I created sample process in Jdev to poll data from this folder.
    build and deployment is fine for this process, but no instances is created for this process. and the Process is not Polling any data from the folder which i mentioned in the Transport Protocol Parameters.
    is this the way am doing is wrong for my current requirement or am i did any wrong step (as stated above ) ? Please help me. How can i receive data from this EDI file to my bpel process so that i can continue with the rest of the Process. Thank you in advance

  • In PL-SQL archive data from a table to a file

    I am currently developing a vb app where I need to archive data from a table to a file. I was hoping to do this with a stored procedure. I will also need to be able to retrieve the data from the file for future use if necessary. What file types are available? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    What about exporting in an oracle binary format? The export files cannot be modifiable. Is there a way to use the export and import utility in PL/SQL?

  • How to read data from a zipped MS Access file?

    How to read data from a zipped MS Access file?

    RPJ,
    You do not need to use the Close Zip File.vi when you unzip a folder.  This VI is used when you are creating a zip folder.
    As for examples, I found a couple of ActiveX based MS Access examples.  These programs look to be pretty basic.  For more in depth example I would search Microsoft Developers Network

  • Problem retrieving data from a JTable.

    Hi All,
    I've just searched to 45th page of this forum but I heven't found a topic containing infos that can help me.
    Well, my problem is: I have to retrieve data from a JTable. I use getValue() method but it seems to work well on all cells of a row but the last cell. I use the TAB to move focus on the row and when it is on the last cell, using TAB, the focus jumps on the next row & 1st column.
    Using TAB moving on system, I can retrieve all data but data on the last cell data.
    I add another info hoping someone has a solution for my problem: If the focus goes back on the last cell of a row just edited, in this case the data retrieving work as well.
    Thank you for your attention!
    Bye.

    I don't understand your question. I don't understand what using Tab and getValueAt(...) have to do with one another. If you want data from a cell then just use getValueAt(...).
    If you want to know what cell currently has focus you use
    getSelectedRow()
    getSelectedColumn()

  • Upload data from multiple worksheets of excel file into SAP by using MIME?

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to getting the data from a multiple worksheet excel file by usin the MIME Repository.
    First of all i realizied it like [here|http://abap-explorer.blogspot.com/2008/12/upload-data-from-multiple-worksheets-of.html] in a normal ABAP Report.
    By trying to transfer the code to a WebDynpro Component, i get problems.
    With this part of code, because ActiveX is not allowed in our Webbrowser. So i have to find another solution to get the data from the excel file.
    CALL METHOD c_oi_container_control_creator=>get_container_control
    IMPORTING
    control = iref_control
    error   = iref_error
    I tried to rebuild this solution in webdynpro. But it dont works.
    So my next step was trying to Read the Excel sheet directly from MIME by getting the Content (XString).
    But there is no useful information Just a mix out of '######' and other symbols.
    By converting it into String the same problem.
    Maybe someone has an idea how to rebuild [this code|http://abap-explorer.blogspot.com/2008/12/upload-data-from-multiple-worksheets-of.html] in Webdynpro that it works correctly.
    Currently Im Using the Fileupload UI Element. All Works fine. I can Upload the Excel file to MIME Repository and i can open it from there.
    But i cant get the same clear informationen from the file, to write it later in a Database, like before without webdynpro.
    i hope someone can help me.

    You can't read the native binary Excel Format in server side ABAP.  The functions and classes that did this in Classic Dynpro used OLE Automation via the SAPGUI Control Framework to remotely control Excel to read the data.  Because in the browser you have no connection to the SAPGUI or are sandboxed inside the browser; the same functionality is not possible.
    I would suggest that you look into saving the Excel file as a open, text format.  You might be able to use XML (although the Excel XML format can be complex) to support multiple sheets. You would have to build the logic yourself (using XSLT or the iXML parser) to process the XML format back into ABAP data.

  • Downloading data from internal table to xls file leading zeros are not disp

    Hai abap gurus,
    when i am downloading data from internal table to excle file. some field values in a column are with leading zeros and some others dont have leading zeros.but in the output it is showing without leading zeros. then how to get with exact values.
    Ex:
    <b>ECC Code.</b>
    045234
      88567
    098456
    but output is giving like this:
    45234
    88567
    98456
    how to get the actual values.....
    plz help me in this matter.

    Dear Kiran,
    Those field in the internal table having Leading Zeroes, make those fields' datatype as character.
    Then use the function module to download the content of the internal table to the excel file.

    Abir
