Save Options for my forms

I've designed some forms using Adobe designer but now when my clients fill them out they can't save then edit. They can only save as a pdf which locks in the changes. I need them to be able to save then go back and make edits and not have to start over each time.
I'd love for someone to help point me in the right direction as I'm stuck.
Thanks much.

Hi Tammi,
I don't know wether you've already found the solution for this (many people have had the same issue, and there are several posts about it) - but if you haven't, I hope this helps:
In your form, do as follows:
Add a button (not the email submit button, just the "button")
Set the Control type to Submit(under your Object tab)
On the Submit tab (under your Object tab), add "mailto:[email protected]" in the Submit to URL box
Change the Submit As drop down to 'PDF' (your other options are XML, XDP and FDF)
Save the form
Open the form in Adobe Professional 8.0 (not livecycle designer)
Go to the Advanced option on the toolbar and select "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" which will require you to save the file again.
And the you're ready to go!
Zoe
NOTE: If you want to distribute to more than 500 users, you will require Adobe Reader Extensions Licenses.

  • Is there a save function for online forms?

Hi, I've created an online form which requests quite a lot of information from those who it is sent to.  Because of its size, I have made use of the skip logic rules to so that users can quickly skip sections that don't apply to them.  Notwithstanding this, the form asks questions which users may need to reseach and come back to so it wouldbe really useful if the form had a save function.  Does anyone know if such a function exists and if not, whether there are there imminent plans to develope one?
If not, regreattably I will have to try and find another solution for online information gather that has a save and return function.

    hi randy
I wholely support the request for a save feature for online forms, any idea of an ETA for this?
Also to expand on this- the ability to print the  web form would be brillant.
a few options for the  web forms submit to print, save.
Web forms after/before  submission maybe to save as a pdf locally -  which then could be printed out.

  • Best option for hosting forms online and archiving the completed forms?

Forgive the length of this post, but I feel it necessary to give a little background information into our problem.
We were looking for a simple solution to a seemingly simple problem: Host ~15 safety forms online for field technicians (electricians) to fill out via their netbooks and submit to some sort of repository for archiving with the ability for the technicians to reopen the forms and make additions over the course of the job / week as well as firing an email off to our H&S rep per form submitted.
Acrobat + Remote Desktop Services (SBS 2011 network) + Reader seemed like a good solution and does work, but it's somewhat cumbersome for the less computer literate techs and proving to be more time in support then we are potentially saving going with paperless forms. This is the system we have in place now.
We initially purchased Acrobat Standard and subsequently upgraded to Professional when we found some limitations we weren't expecting in Acrobat Standard. An Adobe Sales rep also suggested that we check out Livecycle Designer 9, which was included with Acrobat Pro which included even more nice stuff. I started re-authoring the forms in LCD9.
The issue now is that I have Dynamic XML forms with flowed content that cannot be submitted by Reader to sharepoint. Why? You can't reader extend livecycle forms with acrobat, which it is bundled with.....
Why exactly adobe has two different and somewhat incompatible forms authoring tools bundled in the same product is beyond me, especially when one of them requires what I would imagine is an expensive server product to enable it's full use?
So it seems I have a choice between having my employer purchase Reader Extensions ES2 to maintain the nice form design with flowed content, purchasing 12 copies of acrobat to put on the netbooks when Reader SHOULD be all that we need or converting all the dynamic XML forms authored in LCD9 into static AcroForms so they can be reader extended and deployed to sharepoint.
We envision our technicians browsing to and logging in to our hosted sharepoint server, selecting the appropriate form template from a drop down list in a doc library or list, which opens the form for completion in the browser and on submit posts the form to a list on sharepoint for completed forms, preferably with some key fields mapped to custom columns in said list AND with the ability for the submitting technician to re-open the submitted form from sharepoint and make additions as the week / job progresses.
What would be the best option given our current situation and needs? With all due respect, I am looking for suggestions from technically oriented or experienced persons, not sales reps that don't fully know the product.

Ok, so I have done some additional reading and I've found out that Livecycle forms can be submitted via reader without reader extensions so long as the submit is via HTTP Post or as XML data only.
This effectively means you can collect the data from the submitted forms for processing, but you can not re-render the form from the form template and the XML without the presumably expensive server component, Reader Extensions, which for all I know, requires other components to run.
This all seems awfully expensive for a solution to host a dozen or so forms and archive the submissions in one place where they can be re-opened and added to.
I don't undestand why it's so prohibitively expensive to submit dynamic PDF forms as PDF vs submitting static PDF forms as PDF, which can be done with Acrobat Pro all by itself at ~$500.

  • How to switch off save option  for endusers in Portal

    Hi,
how to remove save, cancel option when end user runs the workbook in Portal
and make some small changes like using page items or increasing rows and columns
    I already made 2 changes
    1) I removed the option in Oracle Enterprise Manager under discoverer viewer of saving
    2) I also removed the option of Allow saving changes made in Viewer when adding workbook to portal
But still the end user gets options of saving when made small changes to workbook like increasing rows and columns
Is their any place, I need to make changes?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Snehasish,
I haven't done this thing that you are asking for But have a look into following documentation:
    SAP Library - Business Intelligence
I guess that report RSWR_BOOKMARK_REORG can help as bookmarks are also created in BEx Web Analyzer when saving reports. Test it properly in sandbox/development environment before.
    cheers.

  • Save versus Save As for PDF Forms

    Windows 7 (x64)
    Adobe Reader 11.0.07.79
I download a PDF fill-in form.  Opening it with Adobe Reader, I see just below the tool bar a banner that says: "Please fill out the following form, You can save data typed into the form."
I partially insert data.  When I select Save (NOT Save As), I get the Save As navigation window.  If I do not close the fill-in form, and insert more data, the next time I select Save, it saves without the Save As navigation window.
To demonstrate, try the U.S. individual tax return Form 1040, which can be downloaded from http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040.pdf.
I reported this same problem a few years ago, citing Windows XP and an earlier version of Adobe Reader (version 10.?).  Is there a plan and schedule to fix this?

    Word 12.0.6695.5000
    Excel 12.0.6683.5002
    WordPad 6.1.7601.17514
    NotePad 6.1.7600.16385
    SeaMonkey 2.26
    Thunderbird 24.5.0
    Eraser 6.0.10. 2620
    File-Type Manager 1.6.5.0
    Free Hex Editor 5.14.0. 4787
    Icon Cofiguration Utility 5.0.0.0
All of the applications listed above -- just a few of those I have on my PC -- silently save when I request "Save" for an altered EXISTING file.  Note that, contrary to comment #6, Word (from Office 2007) is among them.

  • Cannot do save function for existing form

Just got a new computer with Acrobat Standard 11. When I open an existing form and enter data into those fields and do a save I am told must change the file name. I cannot save this form in the same file name. I can in an another name but I do not want the same form name with multiple names. So I came to this forum for help in how to solve this problem. Anybody?

Message said something like must save to a different name. I do not have the exact error. It is left at work on my computer there.
No the folder is not restricted. Can save form after adding data but it has to be in a different name. It is not opened from an attachment. It is open from a folder on a network server.

  • What happend to the save option for tabs?

in version 3.x, there was an option to save the open tabs and the prompt to save would come up when shutting FF, where is this now in 4.x?? Put it back please..

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # In the Firefox menu select Preferences to open the Preferences window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Save option for sessions

I'm aware of, and I constantly use, the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" option. I'm hoping that you can create a Save Session option that can be used to store indefinitely a specific session. Many times if there is a crash or some other problem, when I reopen Firefox the Restore Previous Session is grayed out and I have to go through my history at length to find my past websites.
If i'm able to Save a session or two or three, then I never have to worry about whether Firefox automatically restores my previous session or not.
    Thank you for your consideration!
    Frank

I do not know if there is any addon to automate this is but if you find and copy the profile file sessionstore.js that is the file you need.
    * [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]]
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sessionstore.js
Copy that file and use it to overwrite or create a new sessionstore.js when you have problems.
If you do have problems it is also worth looking for any files ''sessionstore.bak'' and backing them up by copying them. They may prove to be viable and the most recent copies of sessionstorer.js and overwriting the sessionstore files with them may work. (Use sessionstore.js as the new filename.)

  • Formatting and Validation Options for a Form:  go()  versus call()

    Hello.
Under a Form's "Formatting and Validation Options," the screen says:
"On successful submission of a form, execute this PL/SQL block or PL/SQL procedure:
Hint: You can redirect your browser to a PL/SQL procedure, for example a procedure that creates a Web page, using either of these methods:
    call('<url>', '<parameter name for back url>');
Redirects the browser to the procedure and passes a parameter containing the URL back to the form.
    go('<url>');
Redirects the browser to the procedure but does not pass a URL to return to the form."
I can get the go() procedure to work but not the call(). Here are the particulars:
    1. I created a simple page.
    2. I created a Form and placed it on the page.
    3. I have PL/SQL code added to the "On successful submission of a form..." section of the Form so that when the user enters a transaction this code executes.
    4. Unfortunately, the go() procedure redisplays the Form but not the underlying page.
I'm guessing (hoping) that if I can properly format the call() procedure instead, it will successfully display the underlying page and this Form. But no matter how I format the second parameter of the call() procedure I get the error "HTTP 400 Bad Request" "The web page cannot be found"
Can anyone provide a simple, working example for the call() procedure? Thanks for any insight.

  • I have 1920x1080 files to edit in iMovie to show on large movie screen for charity event what is best frame rate and best save option for quality versus file size?

I shoot a lot of HD video of my kid, and at first I struggled to find a good balance between maintaining the full-resolution original footage and having something a little more reasonable and lightweight to work with. For example, even on my one-year-old iMac, I can't smoothly scrub the full HD video clips in the editor -- but if the clips have been 'optimized' to 960 x 540, they're smooth as butter (and still look good enough for almost every output scenario).
If, when you're importing the original footage, you enable the "Optimize video" checkbox, you'll get the lightweight version in your event library, but you won't get a copy of the orignal footage as well. It'll still be on your camera (or wherever else you put it before heading to iMovie), but that's not very helpful.
If you're using iMovie '09 (v.8) or '11 (v.9), there's a decent way to do this that isn't terribly obvious.
    So here's what I do:
When importing the original footage, disable the 'Optimize video' checkbox, and select the 'Move files' radio button. This will move the full HD clip into /[selected volume]/iMovie Events/[event title]. (Or you can use 'Copy files' and get the same end result.)
Select the new event in the Event Library in iMovie, and go to File » Optimize Video » Large -- 960x540 (or 'Full,' which is still going to be more compressed than the original HD, but at the same resolution; I find 'Large' to be just fine for my needs, though).
That second step takes the original HD clip that was in /[selected volume]/iMovie Events/[event title] and moves it into /[selected volume]/iMovie Original Movies/[event title], and then puts the optimized version into /[selected volume]/iMovie Events/[event title].
Now you've got a fully organized directory structure containing all of your original HD footage, sorted by event, plus an Event Library full of nice lightweight versions for quick editing and exporting.

Thanks for that info! Even in my time answering questions on iMovie Discussion Group, I never had a good understanding of when and how Optimize Movie came into play. I always would import as Optimized and Large Size and figured that was good enough. But knowing you got much, much more flexibility doing it the way you describe gives me a much better understanding of the different routes you can take into the Event Library.

  • Movie file save options for Windows

Can a .mov or .m4v file be saved in any way to be viewed via Windows (PC)?

You don't need to save them any differently. Windows can read .mov, m4v and countless other formats.

  • In adobe muse, how do you control the replyto address for a form?

I'm creating a website for a client, and when I created an email form, it shows up in the recipient's mailbox as from me, or rather my Adobe ID's registered email. How can I make this a different reply-to address?

If you're using FTP upload, then Muse generates PHP files for your form.
The Muse PHP form files set the email 'from' address to the same email address as you specify in the 'to' option for the form.
This is done because some hosting providers refused to deliver email from somesite.com unless the from address is [email protected] (because it's more likely to be spam).
So Muse uses the same email address in the 'from' and 'to' line because it makes it more likely that the form emails will actually make it to you(or your client).
Note that the email 'reply-to' header is filled in with the email address entered by whoever filled out the form, so you can hit 'reply' in your email software to reply to the form submitter.
In the future we may add the ability to specify the 'from' email, but Muse doesn't have that feature yet.

  • Features for online forms

At some point in the future will there be the ability to save forms that are created in Adobe FormsCentral and then embedded in websites?  For longer forms, this would be a great help so that individuals could complete the form at their own pace.

Well, the whole point is to get away from fillable PDF forms and make all forms available embedded into the website.  Which is why I asked if some day the save feature for embedded forms might be possible.

  • How can I add a Save form button ( not save as ) for a custom fillable form ?

How can I add a Save button ( not save as ) for a custom fillable form ?
idea is ti to have a Save button  at the bottom of each page where the person filling
the form  clicks the save button  on each page.( it is a 12 page fillable form )
The only thing I was able to do  was add a button that  opens a Save As
    dialog box only.
My experience  lever is - end user-intermediate.
    Thnaks.

    Thanks for the response.
I wonder why  it wont allow.
If I can  save ( as opposed to save as)   this form by clicking the  save icon on the  menu bar, I am not sure why it is no possible to do so on page level!
Custom script option is not  even remotely possible!
