Save psd for web

I've learned just enough about Photoshop to be  dangerous. I have the index page of a  template where I have changed the text and  tabs to represent they way I want it to  look. When I previewed it earlier in explorer and Dreamweaver it was not lined up properly.
How can I save it so I can open it in Dreamweaver  to make the final changes and add in the logo as I can't figure it out while in  Photoshop.
Thank you in advance for all you help.
Regards,
Lisa

Its possible you are seeing what happens with floating images. When you change the size of an image, add text or increase the font size. The next image can be pushed to the side or down the page.
You need to think about the total page size and how the elements fit inside that area. If you are using fixed sizes such as pixels then you need to add up the size of each element with in that page width and can not be larger than the page width or images will be pushed.
You can use relative sizes such as percentages, but the page width is 100% and the width of each element must add up to 100% or the width of the elements will change size. This is great for those liquid pages allowing the view to scale the browser windows size and the elements change size.
Anyway, to make sure images line up you can use absolute positioning, this will lock an image to a location and size. This also means that other image can lay on top of other images.
I recommend that you do some research on html and css code. There are several web sites that provide free tutorials.
In photoshop slices will allow you to create images with html code for absolute positioning, but it in your best interest to learn html and css as it will help you figure out what went wrong when it does. and the html in photoshop isn't up to par or it wasn't I haven't checked CS5 yet.
Good luck...

  • JSX Save PNG for web, quality parameter not changing file size

    Hi
    I have a script that uses this snippet of code to save png files for web. But, no matter what number I change the quality, the resulting file size and image fidelity remains the same.
    I was wondering if I can save pngs for web at smaller byte size with JSX and how to modify the output settings.
    docName = sourceDoc.name;
    NamesaveRef = new File( outputFolder + "/" + docName );
    var NewfileRef = new File( NamesaveRef )
    var options = new ExportOptionsSaveForWeb();
    options.format = SaveDocumentType.PNG;
    options.transparency = true;
    options.blur = 0.0 ;
    options.includeProfile = false ;
    options.interlaced = false ;
    options.optimized = true ;
    options.quality = 3 ;//THIS NUMBER DOES NOT CHANGE QUALITY IF CHANGED FROM 0.1 TO 100
    options.PNG8 = false ;
    sourceDoc.exportDocument(File( NamesaveRef), ExportType.SAVEFORWEB, options);
    app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
    Thanks for your help.

    PNG does not have a quality setting. The quality property is used when exporting jpeg. That is why changing that property has no effect with PNG files.
    Photoshop now supports PNG compression but as far as I can tell you have to use Action Manager to save. I don't see a compression option when using saveForWeb.

  • Save as for Web gives inappropriate file type estimation

    When I go to Save As For Web (and devices) I'm brought to the next screen that allows me to do a multitude of things. I can adjust the resolution of my image with many other settings but I can also, more specifically, change the file type and, upong changing the type, can see the estimated file size down on the bottom right.
    The trouble is the estimated file size is stuck on the GIF format and doesn't repopulate when I change file types.Below is a screenshot of my difficulty.

    I meant - you try if it works when OpenGL is disabled
    As for fixing the problem, make sure you have the latest driver for your video card and if not, uninstall the old and install the latest driver.

  • Save image for web/devices - random streaks

    I have no idea why, but sometimes when i save images for web It leaves random streaks across certain areas. It has nothing to do with transparency/gradients because i've used normal fills and it still does it. It's probably something stupid but i can't seem to figure it out.

    Document DPI vs. Save for web vs. preview. Make sure to always work in 72 DPI and you'll have a lot less problems to get predictable results. Also use the align to pixel grid options to avoid semi-transparent gaps and edges, where applicable...

  • Version to save PDF (for web view/printing)

    Hello,
    I am going to be linking an employment application on my client's website as a PDF. I am not sure what version to save it as (version for Acrobat Reader) so that it's most compatible with those visitors coming to the site. Does anyone know what would be a safe bet as far as what version to save my PDF as?
    Also, does anyone have any tips on how to best save it for downloading online but then printing it out?
    Thanks!
    Ashley

    You should probably go back to at least AA7, though there are those still using vers 4. You need to be a bit careful if you have added anything fancy, it will be lost. Also, if the form is to be used a lot (500 times is the limit), you do not want to activate Reader Rights (it is a violation for more than 500 uses). Just have the form submitted by having it printed or by submitting the form data (FDF file). For an application, you would want the submission to be to a web site (secure site preferred) due to the confidential information that would be included. The form data can be imported to the form using the FORMS>Manage Form Data>Import. You can do some database work directly from Acrobat (I am not good at that and the appropriate subforum is for forms) or you can use the tools in the FDF Toolkit to write server side code for the submission and data manipulation (there are Perl and C code examples in the toolkit).
    Good luck.

  • Why is my text pixelated in Illustrator when I want to save it for web?

    I added a grunge effect to this font. It scales up and down and fine, but when I preview it in the "save for web" option, it gets pixelated. I tried making it an object, but I got the same result. Shouldn't Illustrator be able to scale these without a problem?
    This first is a screen shot of the text. Illustrator is open and zoomed in at around 600%
    This second example is when I tried to save for web and zoom in around 600% again.

    arcbo,
    As I (mis)understand it, what you see is simply the pixels of the raster image.
    If you Save for Web at the exact size that it is being used for, the pixels will match the use and it will look nice.
    Any raster image looks pixelated when scaled up beyond its actual size.

  • Save images for Web?

    hi
    i would like to ask you,why when i save images for Internet
    (for my web portfolio) from Photoshop thought Save for Web and
    import them in Flash they appear with rough ends ,not straight and
    clear as in the original version ,please? I m saving them in couple
    of versions some with Hight quality or medium but its all the
    same....
    please help me
    what could I do that it doest occur that thing,please
    Thank you

    Are you rotating them once you import them into flash? They
    will render with jagged edges. If you need images at an angle, I
    would rotate them first in Photoshop then import them into flash,
    also make sure under publish settings, you set you image quality to
    high, of course this will increase the overall file size of your
    swfs but give you better image quality. Hope this helps...

  • Best options to save PDF for web?

    I'm trying to save a PDF with CS5, which if saved at high-quality for print comes out to about 144mb. It has 30 pages, high-quality pics at 300dpi. The problem comes in when I try to save for web, I save as Interactive, and if I lower it to 72dpi it becomes unreadable, so I try 150dpi and it comes out ok, but at 40mb.
    Yet I constantly see other PDFs around the web, of catalogs which have over 140 pages and only 19mb, or 54pages, and only 7mb, and yet the quality looks really good.
    How should I save, and what options can I use to make quality reasonable yet in low MBs?

    You may want to try optimizing PDF see link:

  • Save As for WebI docs from JRP takes two minutes in BO 3.1.6

    Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try to speed up the saving of reports into Favorites?
    I searched and didn't see anyone else with my problem.
    When I Save a report for the first time or Save As from the Java Report panel, it takes a really long time to display the report names on the right side of the Save Document box.  I have an hourglass while I wait for the report names to display.

    It's only a problem when I'm using JRP as my WebI doc editing tool.  The list of reports comes up right away in Interactive.

  • Image resize quality not saved in Save For Web Preset?

    L.S.,
    I have been working on an Action to create 12 separate PNG's for further use in my icon-software. What I do is basically this:
    Start out with a 256x256px image, save it for web four times in steps from 256, 48, 32 and 16px, (32-bit)
    apply some masks / layers, save it for web again four times from 256-16px,  (8-bit)
    set the mode to indexed colour / apply other masks and layers, and save it for web again from 256-16px. (4-bit)
    I let the sizing be done in the Save for Web step.
    The 256-sized pics give me no problem as they are not scaled down.
    The 32-bit pics give me no problem as they are scaled down, and antialias comes along, but they have 8-bit transparency: no problem.
    In the 8-bit and 4-bit versions from 48-16px, I definitely want no antialias in the sized down versions. So I set the resize quality to 'Nearest Neighbor'.
    However, Photoshop seems not to be able to remember different resize qualities in one Action.
    In every Save for Web-action that I do, when I set it to resize, it does so. But the resize quality is not taken from the setting. It seems to be taken from the last used or recorded setting.
    That is pretty annoying, because:
    - When I let the downscaled ones of the first 4, be downscaled 'bicubic sharper'
    - And I let the downscaled ones of the second 4, and third 4, be downscaled 'nearest neighbor'
    Next time I run the Action, all downscaling is done by 'nearest neigbor'. That ruins my downscaled 32-bit icons - they get jaggy.
    If I alter the steps in the action manually and set the first ones to 'bicubic sharper' again, suddenly all downscaled ones are done by 'bicubic sharper'.
    That ruins my downscaled 8-bit and 4-bit icons: they get antialias, to lime green, and that shows...
    I can save Presets in the Save For Web dialog, but as the groupbox already tells me: these presets only apply to the Image quality parameters, not to the sizing parameters. Those seem to be taken from the last run.
    I have one alternative to this: before every Save for Web step, I downsize the image myself, and undo the history step after saving. It's quite some work and I would just rather see that the sizing parameters saved in the Preset!

    That's never been saved as part of the S4W presets. Bloody annoying.

  • Save for web really slooooow in Photoshop CC

    Hi all,
    Since one of the last updates, whenever I try to save an image using the Save for web function, the dialog screens take a lot of time to appear (worked normally before). I am not using large images, just 1100x700 px approximately that I reduced to that size for a website. But when I try to save them for web, the first dialog screen takes a while to appear, and when I hit Save, that save screen also takes a long time to show up.
    It doesn't happen always, but most of the time, and it is really annoying when I have to save a lot of images, it makes me loose a lot of time. Sometimes when I am saving a series of images, with the first ones it goes slow, then works normally with some, and then again slowww.
    My machine is an Intel i7 with 16gb of memory running on Windows 8. I hope you can help me with this issue.
    Thanks in advance!
    Diego

    Yes, sorry, forgot to clarify that. I am saving it to my local hard drive, that is why it is so strange.

  • Save for web option greyed out?

    hello.
    i'm not too sure but after the last one/two updates from the cc, i have been unable to click on the save for web option as it is greyed out. i've read this (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5242626#5242626). i am slightly blurry on the solution being said there. however, i have fixed around the permissions (as said in the solution) but again, i'm not very sure if i have done anything significantly right because i still can't save anything for web (nor can i open .gif).
    this is a screetshot of my user/library/preferences --> get info as well as the adobe save for web prefs. i've added 'admin' into the list and i've made it read & write. user had been read & write all along.
    i have no idea what's the issue still. i'm using a mac on mountain lion.

    Thanks! That was it. I am a bit rusty with PS.

  • I am using CS6 and when I go to save an image for Web the image does not retain its quality

    I am using CS6 and when I go to save an image for Web the image does not retain its quality. The first week I did this it worked just fine and now the images save very pixely.
    Here is a screenshot of my image on the artboard as I am editing it
    Here is a screenshot of the image as I'm trying to save it for Web
    As you can see, the image becomes pixely. I have tried to save it as every type of png and jpeg but nothing seems to work. I have no idea why it has started to do this. Please help!

    Change None to Art optimized then click apply(alteast in CS5 there was an apply, believe they removed that in CS6 as so many people missed that part).

  • Photoshop CS6 save for web some colors change?

    I have a picture with large area of color: #fffdfd, when I save it for web (jpg) this color is changed to #fefcfd (in JPG).
    I just can not save as JPG with #fffdfd.
    (was trying uncheck convert to sRGB, do not embed color profile - always #fffdfd changes to #fefcfd when save for web)
    However, color #fefcfd when save for web , does not change.
    Why some colors change and some not? Is it a bug ?
    Window7 64bit, Photoshop CS6

    Save for Web & Devices will strip some color data from the file.
    Browsers aren't color managed. Most file formats on browsers assume they're sRGB. While Photoshop gives you an option of embedding sRGB to the document color space, it also strips off data that is not relevant. This is a common occurence.
    PNG-24 on the other hand will give you the exact color match.
    Also, Save for W&D, JPG quality matters a lot - The same color at Quality 10,20,30,40,50...100 wil give you different color reproductions on the JPG end output.
    If you're concerned that much about an offset of +/- 1 hex value to your RGB colorspace, dont save for web & devices. Do a 'Save As' instead. Then use an image editing/ resizing application such as ResizeMe to resize the quality of your document. This, in most cases will retain colorspace information but just drop the resolution and quality of the image - giving you a lesser filesize.

  • Bad resolution when I save for web

    Just got Illustrator CC and its really bad resolution when I try to save for web on my new MacBook pro Retina (Don't know if it got anything to do with it)

    if you draw something using paths in illustrator and save it as AI or PDF, it will maintain those paths and draw its appearance (strokes etc) to whatever resolution you screen is at (or whatever you print it at). if you save something for web, it will convert those appearances into pixels. if you zoom in on those pixels, all they can do is get larger and make your image appear more blocky. when you save for web, you want the resolution of what you're saving to be the same as the resolution it will be used at. if you save an image at 100x100 pixels and then view it at that size on screen, it will look as good as you screen is capable of showing. if you enlarge it, it won't.
