Save/Restore Window content when hidden by other window

I developed a swing application under UNIX/Linux.
I have the problem, that the window content is not saved, when the window was hidden by another window. As soon as the swing window becomes (partly) visible again, paint() will be called, instead of restoring the previous content.
I know, that the XServer has this possibility to save the window content. How can I configure this behaviour under Java/Swing?
I tried do emulate this behaviour by first drawing into an offscreen buffer and then place this buffered image onto the frame, but it takes a lot of time and results in undesireable delays.
Thanks for any idea,
Alex.

I would most like suggest that you open a support ticket.  It sounds as though something is wrong with the rendering output.  You shouldn't really be able to create such an incorrect rendering situation in the closed Web Dynpro framework.

  • I'm using Firefox version 3.6 on my '02 Mac G4. When I installed it, it worked fine, But then all of a sudden the "save" and "save as" windows stopped coming up at all when I selected "save" anywhere in Firefox. What happened and how do I fix it?

I downloaded and installed Firefox on my '02 Mac G4. It worked great. Now I have version 3.6. But my weird problem is one day when I ran it, the "save" and "save as" windows stopped popping up at all. I'd left click a picture and select "save as" and nothing would happen. I'd go to the menu and select "save" and still no window would pop up. It would just act as if nothing had been clicked. No loading icon or anything and no "save as" window. I've never been able to get it to work. The volunteer in the live support chat typed "That IS weird.." I tried his suggestion but it did nothing. I may have deleted the plist preferences file in the preferences library folder to get it started again after a freeze up threw it out of whack but I've never had this happen before. And i've tried doing that again to see if that would restore it. But the plist always regenerates itself and the "save as " window still never appears when I run Firefox. The "save" window works just fine in every other program on my Mac, but not in Firefox. Weird..

  • Lion: failure to honor un-setting of "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" ?

I have noticed an annoying "feature" of Lion, and I'm hoping that someone might have found a workaround.
If I uncheck Preferences->General->Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps, some of my apps still seem to ignore that setting after a restart.
Here's a scenario which illustrates the problem:
Uncheck the Preferences setting mentioned above.
Open up a few Finder windows.
Open up a few Terminal windows.
In the Terminal Preferences, disable everything related to Window Groups.
Do a Logout or a Restart. Uncheck Reopen windows when logging back in.
    Relog in.
    Open one Terminal window.
After step 6, all of the Finder windows which were previously open before Logout or Restart will also reopen.
After step 7, all of the Terminal windows which were previously open before Logout or Restart will reopen, in addition to the single Terminal window which is manually opened after login.
The only way I can prevent this from happening to Terminal is to add the following two lines right before the final </dict> tag in /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app/Contents/Info.plist:
    <key>LSUIElement</key>
    <string>1</string>
However, this has the undesirable side-effect of not showing anything about Terminal in the menu bar or the dock.
None of this used to happen in Snow Leopard, Leopard, or Tiger. Does anyone know how I can disable this unwanted window-opening-after-relogin behavior in Lion?
    Thanks in advance.

    Try the Lion community, there are others with same and similar questions;

To urabus. Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, this is does not work for me. Furthermore, even if it did work the way you said, it would not be a viable alternative for me.
When I hold down the Option key and select the Terminal menu, I see this: Quit and Keep Windows, not Quit and Discard Windows. If I let go of the Option key, this menu entry changes to simply Quit Terminal. Therefore, I don't even have the option to quit and discard my windows.
As I mentioned, however, even if I had the option you mention, it is not desirable for me. When I restart, I want the OS to properly close all my open windows in the same way that it did in Snow Leopard, Leopard, and Tiger. It is not desirable for me to have to manually close some or all of my apps in a special way before restart, simply to cause them to behave the way that un-checking Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps is supposed to control.
Here is one reason (out of several), for why I don't want this auto-reopen-windows-on-restart "feature": some of my Terminal windows run ssh sessions to remote sites. It is a Bad Thing for these ssh sessions to be auto-restored after Restart, without my having to specificially initiate these sessions.
IMHO, Apple should offer an alternative to this undesirable behavior. For example, during the shutdown procedure which is part of a Restart, we are asked if we want to kill any open Terminal windows. The "Quit and Discard Windows" option could be offered at that point ... but it isn't.
Furthermore, as I mentioned above, this unwanted behavior also occurs in Finder.
Is there any option that I can set in my system or in the defaults for com.apple.Terminal and com.apple.Finder which would force an automatic "Quit and Discard Windows" on restart or re-login?
Updated to add second paragraph which explains how hitting the Option key when selecting the Terminal menu does not work.

  • Dont save the windows and tabs that i have running when i close it

When I close FF4 I dont get the pop up where I was asked if I wanna save the windows and tabs.
My session is not saved when I start FF4 again (later) I get only 1 blank page and not the all the windows and tabs I had running before closing it..

Firefox 4 automatically save the previous session without asking, but it doesn't automatically restore the previous session when you launch Firefox. The '''about:home''' homepage has a link for '''Restore Previous Session''' or you can use History > Restore Previous Session to restore it.

  • Save As window comes up when saving a WebI document another user modified

When trying to save a Web Intelligence document in the "Web" mode (not the java "Rich Internet Application" mode), users get a "Save As" window if another user was the last one to save the document.  The user can simply select the same location and "overwrite" the existing report.  They can also use the Rich Internet Application mode instead, since this does not have the same issue.  After that, the same user can continue to save the report as usual, until another user saves it.  The user has full control permissions to the document and to the folder.
This doesn't seem like it would be a big deal, but most of our users access reports using hyperlinks from other websites, which opens the document directly in the web mode; and they just make simple changes like selecting a different value in an input control.  If the Save As window comes up, it takes them to their Favorites folder, and they usually don't know which public folder the report is stored in.

I can not print anything from Firefox but on IE everything prints just fine. I happen to like Firefox a whole lot better so would appreciate a solution to my problem.

  • Firefox closes "Save As" window on some web sites when downloading

On some web sites, such as Scribd or PC World, Firefox will quickly force shut the "Save As" window when downloading. It happens so quickly that I barely have time to see the "Save As" window. The same web site on IE will not cause this to happen. I have done a web search and tried several of their tips, but the same thing happens on Firefox when I try to download from those sites. This problem started in Firefox 3 and is continuing in Firefox 4. Adjusting settings in or disabling AVG Internet Security does not work either.

Only security software (probably anti-virus software or the firewall) would show such a message if it was a Windows message, so you can check it there.

  • Content server pros and cons when compared to others

    Hi DMS Gurus,
we are in a process of deciding which storage area to go for, and the client is kneen on going for a common existing  server, as he is not kneen on spending on DMS content server.
    my question are,
can we transform any existing file server or system (which is already in use) in to a content server just by installing windows 2003, and content server CDs. if so please tell me how to go about this.
is content server only the preferred storage to process the original files in through WEB DMS, or will Starage in SAP Database,Vault or Archive also will give this funtionality.
let me please know what are the major Pros (benifits) and cons (demerits)  which Content server storage gives when compared to other storage.
    Points for sure,
    thanks in advance
    Shanti

    Shanti,
    ArchiveLink:
You use SAP ArchiveLink as a communication interface between the document management system and the archiving systems. You can display the archived data using the SAP ArchiveLink viewer. Many times there are documents generated which needs to be tied to a DIR and hence you use the archive link to tie these to a transaction and the originals can be stored in the content server.
    KPRO
KPRO apart from attaching the originals, it provides a wide range of other functionalities like content service,
where after every check in& checkout of DIR you can mantain the working copies in the content server.
Knowledge Provider is a component of SAP Web Application Server and provides the general infrastructure for storing and administrating documents. The Content Server and the Cache Server are server components that interact with the Knowledge Provider
Knowledge Provider provides the following services:
    -Services for KPro client applications
    -Document Management Framework (DMF)
    -Document Management Service (DMS)
    -Content Management Service (CMS)
-Integration of content servers and cache servers
    -Content Server
-Allows you to integrate SAP Content Sever or
    external content servers
    -Cache Server
-Allows you to store documents close to the client (caching)
    -Content Modeling Tool
    -Document Modeling Workbench (DMWB)
    Hope this helps

  • Installing the latest update on my iPad - error message saying the iPad couldn't synchronize because of an internal error, and then - error message (OxE8004017) when trying to save, and then (2003) when trying to restore - nothing works anymore

Installing the latest update on my iPad - error message saying the iPad couldn't synchronize because of an internal error, and then - error message (OxE8004017) when trying to save, and then (2003) when trying to restore - nothing works anymore - On my iPad the only thing I see is a connector cord to iTunes and nothing else.
    What can I do  ???

Same issue for me, recently I started having issues with apps no longer being able to access my Facebook account. But the iPad Facebook account settings will not accept my password, even though the Facebook app and Safari can access my account fine. The only significant events I recall that have occurred that may have triggered this have been that via my Facebook account I killed off a lot of so called authorised connections and I changed my user name, but still have the same email address and password.
I have tried just about every solution put forward on the net, short of a factory restore, back to new, on my iPad.
I have also; deleted my iCloud account, deleted the Facebook app and account, deleted Safari data.
One would think that after I have deleted my account from the iPad that it would ask for both username/email address and password, but it only asks for password, so the username is still stored somewhere that I am unable to delete.
I also see that no one seems to have been able to get an answer from Apple. So I'm guessing they have absolutely no idea themselves.
I am hesitant to put my username on Facebook back to what it was as Facebook only give you a few chances to change your username, then you are locked.
    I have iOS 7.1.1 installed.
I did have a lot of respect for Apple and their devices as they just worked, but they are becoming tarnished by ignoring what seems to be a growing issue.

  • Why does FF save files to desktop, when I have "downloads" checked in options? This is a new issue with the latest version 3.6.3 Windows XP Thanks.

Why does FF save files to desktop, when I have "downloads" checked in options? This is a new issue with the latest version 3.6.3 . Using Windows XP Driving me nuttier! Thanks.
(Is is that MicroNetFrame Asst thing?)
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== When I installed latest version

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your help.
It was just a hunch that MircoNetFrame was causing the problem. I disabled it as you suggested, and I still have the problem.
I just changed under Tools>Options> General - had checked "ask me every time" under downloads, so instead of asking me, FF saved the download to I know not where. It no longer saves it to the desktop, leaving a duplicate in "my documents".
In windows, I have found unless one knows the entire name of the document, one can never find anything. It isn't listed under recent ''''''__. I can't recall the nomenclature, but the
capability is ridiculous. So, I don't know where that file I just downloaded is!
I downloaded a PDF file, but this happens with all DL's. It was so easy to have them all stacked in one place and I could recall
what I had and when I downloaded it easily.
Do you have any other suggestions other that going back to the old version of FF, which I would rather not do?
Thanks again for your time, it is very considerate to help a complete stranger, I must say. Sounds like something I might do! Cheers!
