When i pres save as in a new document I can only see the top level folders, and i am unable (or the system doesnt let me more like) navigate to a sub folder where I want to save some work.
This also happens in Word and Excel also
How can i get the system to allow me to navigate to where I want to save a document

In the Save or Save As dialog box, to the right of the name of the saved document you'll see a downward pointing arrow. Click it to see a hierachical menu where you can navigate to any location you want.

  • Trouble saving documents to server at work location

I am using the following apps to edit documents located on the server at my work location from my home - Cisco AnyConnect VPN, FB file browser and Pages. I can easily bring up a document and edit it in Pages using these apps but I can not find a way to save the edited document back to the the server at work. I could email the document to my self but it seems to me that if I can load the document onto my iPad then I should be able to save it. I can't find the procedure in any documentation.

    Hi thematrixhasyou,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to update documents from Outlook to SharePoint 2010.
I did a test as the followings:
    1. Create a library, and allow Content Type as Library settings->Advanced Setting, under ‘Allow management of content type?’, select Yes.
    2. Click on Library Settings->Document under Content Types, click on Document Information Panel settings, and select ‘Always show Document…’.
    3. Create some custom cloumns
    4. Upload some documents to the library
    5. Then click on Library->Connect to Outlook, the library will be synced to Outlook
    6. In Outlook, find the library
    7. Double click a document, the document was opened, and the document information(Title and custom columns) were displayed correctly.
    8. Change the document, and save it
    9. Then close the document, it pop up a dailog box, like the below screenshot.
    10. Click on Update, then the document will be updated in SharePoint
Which type did you use for the custom columns (Year, Category, Document Type)?
Please have a try as the above steps.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Wendy

  • Error occurred while saving document in Web Analysis Studio

We have encountered an issue when we tried to save a new report in Web Analysis. An error message box will prompt up displaying "Error occurred while saving document." (Please refer to the attached screenshots). Clicking the details button gives no response.
Originally we encountered this whilst creating a report with an SQL spreadsheet (JDBC connection tested successfully), which failed to save. Proceeding to test this saving a blank report also gave the same error message.
The report shows up in the Oracle view, however also produces an error when trying to open it. "Unable to perform request
Undefined exception encountered. Recommended Action: Contact your corporate technical support." (Please refer to the attached screenshots)
    Web Analysis version 11.1.2.3.000.1175
Please advise on how to handle this case

    Hi Soumya,
Thanks for your reply. I am already using the admin account which is given administrator provisioning under Reporting & Analysis. I have not had issues in the past of saving documents to the server location (e.g. with FR studio). Any ideas as to what else could cause this error? Thanks!

  • How do I find and open saved documents?

How do I find and open saved documents?

After you convert documents from PDF to Word or Excel with the ExportPDF service, you can find the converted files in whatever folder you saved them to.  The default save location for files varies by browser.  I would suggest searching your hard drive for the file name either via the Windows SmartSearch or Mac Spotlight.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

  • Trouble saving documents

When I save a document, it does not show up in Documents for a long time. I can use Finder to find and open the document if I can remember what I named it. Sometimes I remember the subject, but I can't remember the name I gave it, but it usually shows up in Documents in a few weeks. I don't remember having this problem when the computer was new. Is this a bug in a recent OS update? The information I can find on saving documents says that they should show up in Documents, but it doesn't say how long it should take. Do I have any control over how long it takes?

Can you save a document to a folder not in the Documents folder?
Funny thing, I've owned dozens of Macs and never use that folder.
Usually, you can choose a folder or path to have items saved there.
In fact, since I am often the only user of a computer and sometimes
have two user accounts, still do not use these user-account specialty
folders. I've often did as I had said, in creating a folder on the hard
disk drive and an alias to it on my desktop, or drag a link/icon into
the Dock (next to the Trash in Dock is an easy location to put it.)
Sounds as though there still may be some issues in the computer's
system, regarding how your created files are handled. You could
boot the computer from the Tiger install disc and run Disk Utility from
the version found in the Installer's menu bar (do not run the install
sequence, the finder-like Installer menu bar has options in a drop-
down menu, like finder does; you can launch Disk Utility and do other
jobs from the Installer, without installing anything.
If using the booted Tiger installer's Disk Utility, be sure to avoid any
of the extra features this utility can do in this situation; it can do a
fair amount of damages should you do more than 'repair disk' and
'repair disk permissions' out of turn. It can reformat, erase, partition.
The 9GB of remaining space in the hard disk drive may become a
marginal asset, since up to 5GB of the hard drive can be used for
the System and Apps, as Virtual Memory and temp swap files. That
would leave a dangerously low amount of 'free space' overall.
My computer drives have about 70% free space, except in my iBook,
and that has about 60% free space since it has extra spare installer
.dmg files in a folder there. I try and keep a good backup clone on an
externally enclosed FireWire bootable hard disk drive, of each Mac HD.
(Your Mini is probably an Intel-based Mac; so a backup external enclosure
for a hard disk drive for clones & backup would likely be USB2.0; if you
get one, be sure the vendor knows Macs. Get one that can support clones
and booting OS X from a drive in such an enclosure. If the Mini has ports
for FireWire, then get an external drive enclosure with FW & USB2.0.)
For general periodic maintenance, I have and use OnyX, so about once
a month or so (if bored, sooner; if forgetful, later) and have OnyX set in
its own preference setting, to restart the computer automatically when it
is done running any task it would require or recommend a restart when
done; so it does that. I can leave it after launching the selected choices
in Automation (checkboxed items can be chosen) and usually choose All.
{This does not mean it will start & run all by itself; I don't know if it can do
that aspect of scheduled maintenance, since this requires an Admin PW
    to launch; so you'd have to be there to run OnyX, or remote login to do it.}
    • OnyX - Titanium Software:
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english/apps.html
This can take some time, depending on the size of the hard disk drive
and other particular items in each machine's configuration. Maybe up
to 45 minutes on a drive if not too full. Could take longer on yours.
At some point, given the age of your computer and the fullness of the
capacity of the hard disk drive, you may have to consider the wear &
age of the moving parts sufficient reason to replace the hard disk drive.
If you do have or are considering a complete backup of the computer's
contents, there are external drive enclosures which can support a full
computer clone (free-running clone utilities are downloadable) and you
could backup the computer's contents; and a good boot-able clone is
about the best assurance you can still access your data if the main drive
in the computer should fail. You can make & test a clone before any
disk maintenance, reinstall from scratch, or an old drive gets replaced.
The time probably has come to consider these ideas and learn more.
And an all new installation on a low-level erased & reformatted hard
disk drive, and updated to the last Tiger 10.4.11 combo; would be a
basis for a cleaner and faster running system. Then, the last security
update, java updates, quicktime, browsers, Flash & Shockwave players,
could be applied; and only the apps you use most, reinstalled & updated.
Even without a new internal hard disk drive, could be a great refresh.
An external drive could be a home for more than just a bootable clone of
the computer's current content, a backup; the external can be partitioned
    and more than one clone or different system version could be on there;
or a partition used for storage of items to be used alongside the Mac.
iTunes and iPhoto libraries can be relocated or moved to an external; so
as to free-up the internal drive. Generally, to keep it from being too full.
And I suspect your current hard drive status may be marginal, in that little
free or unused space exists; and if needed, you could not perform an
'Archive & Install/update' procedure or other helpful major tasks within it.
Anyway, I do not have a specific answer as to why the files you have
saved to the Documents folder are not going there. They should be
appearing in your User folder, since all your user activity when booted
in and logged-in a user account would go in there; generally speaking.
You should be able to search for a folder you made, by date, and see
if it still exists or if it was overwritten by something else & is missing.
The best cure to most OS X issues is preventative maintenance; but
in some (few) cases, in a newer and unproven system, other issues
may be the cause of some odd problems. But OS X 10.4.11 is very
stable and if kept up, probably the best system version so far; in the
    comparison of non-current systems.
    Good luck & happy computing!

hello i am using ms word when i open my saved documents but cannot edit anythings and all are option is hide .....so how to edit

    Hi,
In regarding of the issue, I need more information:
Which Office and operation system do you use?
Does the other Office suits encounter the issue?
Does the issue occur in some special documents or every documents (even a new blank Word document)?
Do you get some error message? Please upload some images about it if you can.
Let's try some methods, check if they are helpful:
    a) Delete the Word Data registry subkey.
    1.Exit all Office programs.
2.In Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.) Type regedit in the search box, tap
or click Apps, and then tap or click Run.
Or, in Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
3.Locate the following registry subkey, as appropriate for the version of Word that you are running:
    Word 2013
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Data
    Word 2010
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Data
    Word 2007
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data
    Word 2003
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data
4.Click Data, and then click Export on the File menu.

6.On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click Yes.
    7.Exit Registry Editor.
    8.Start Word.
    b) Start Word in
safe mode, if it works fine, the issue may be caused by the add-ins, please try to check them one by one.
    c) Repair Office.

  • Issues finding saved documents

I have MS office installed on my macbook for school and when I look for saved documents (word and excel), I can't find them. I then tried a search with the document name and can't find it either. The only way I can open it is if I right-click on word or excel in my dock and find it in recent documents. Anyone know why it is doing this and how to fix it?
    Thanks!

Open Word or Excel and create a "test" document. When you go to save it, check the file path. Is it saving it to a weird location? If so, you can set it back to your Documents folder or wherever you want.
If for some reason Spotlight is not finding it when you search, you can re-index your hard drive (this may take a little time to complete depending on how much stuff you have). To do so:
    1. Open System Preferences
    2. Click the Spotlight preference pane
    3. Click the Privacy tab
    4. Drag your entire hard drive (Macintosh HD or whatever you called it) into the box that says "Prevent spotlight from searching these locations"
    5. Click Show All and let it sit for 30 seconds to a minute.
    6. Go back into Spotlight preference, select your hard drive in the Privacy box, and click the "-" sign to remove it from the list.
    7. After about 30 seconds or so, if you click on the Spotlight icon at the top-right corner of your screen, you should see a message that it is indexing (with a progress bar).

  • When I open a saved document in pages, then close it right away without making any changes, why does it ask if I would like to save the page or all new info will be lost?

I have a few saved documents and when I open them to view them quick, sometimes when I close it, I will get asked if I would like to save the document or all my new info will be lost. I didnt change anything so Im not sure why it asks me that. When I open the document again, all the info is there and nothing is different. Thanks

Unless they were Word documents, Pages has done nothing really, but it is updating date information in the file.
It is annoying but just ignore it and don't save.

It sounds to me as though you are attempting to open a Pages 09 document with the Pages 08 application. If you do have Pages 09 on your computer, it may be that for some reason an existing Pages 08 application is invoked accidentally.

  • My newest version of Pages won't open previous saved documents. It keeps saying this version not supported please update, but it already is. Please help.

My previously saved documents in Pages will not open. When I click on one of the documents it is saying, "you need a newer version of Pages to open this document. You can download the latest version of Pages from the Apps Store, but when I click on the apps store, it states that is installed and running the current version. Help, I can't open any of my saved documents.

The problem is that you have both versions of pages on your computer - pages 09 is in the dock with the old ink pot icon - pages version 5 (orange pen and paper icon) is in your applications folder.  Delete your pages 09 icon from your dock by dragging it upwards in a puff of smoke - and drag the pages 05 icon from the applications folder to your dock and use that in future.  This fixed it for me.
I presume I can uninstall pages 09 now.  You need to do the same with numbers and keynote.

    Hi wallacem59620634,
Are you referring to a file that you've saved to your Acrobat.com online account? If so, you'll need to download that file to your computer to edit it. Please follow these steps:
Log in to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files.
Select the file that you want to edit, and then click Download. The file will be downloaded to the Downloads folder on your computer. From there, you can open it in an application that supports that file format and edit it.
Please note, that if you're working with a PDF file, you'll need to use Acrobat to edit the content. If you don't have Acrobat, please feel free to download a 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.
