Saving js to pdf via code

I am in the process of creating a c++ plugin that will combine files together and save this combined file with the bookmarks pane open.
Some additional items that I would like to add to this plug-in are as follows:
1.  How do I add code to the combined pdf that:
     a.  opens the file with the attachment pane open also
     b.  removes all toolbars - if possible, leave the print option
I have run across code to remove or hide the toolbars, but nothing to open or close the attachment pane.  I have also not run across a way to programatically add this code to a pdf.  If someone could offer a helping hand, that would be great.

1a.  I have seen the code to hide toolbars, but how do I attach/include a js in a pdf programatically so that it will trigger when the pdf is opened by another user on a different system?
1b.  Attached is a screen shot of a document with both the bookmark and attachment pane open, so it is possible.  I am simply looking for the method to show a pane.
I realize that the defaults are a single pane hence the desire to add code to accomplish this.

    How can I retain hyperlinks while saving a webpage as PDF via Print?
    This is the title of an apple forum question, and it is a bug in both Safari 5.1.3 and under, and I find it to also occur in Firefox browser (at least 9.* 10.*, 11.0), running on Lion OS (10.7.2, 10.7.3). See:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3212301?start=0&tstart=0
    Under the newer Mac OS mentioned, and Firefox 10.2, 11.0, 9.*, if I select:
    File -> Print -> PDF -> Open PDF in Preview"
    (and view / save the PDF in Preview, you will see none of the links in the original web page are active
    or using
    File -> Print -> PDF -> Save as PDF...
    same problem. Try this using any Wikipedia page, for example.
    When this problem was posed in Apple forums, by a user of the Safari browser, it was found to be a bug (since Aug 2011) fixed in a Safari browser build 5.1.4 circa Jan 2012. I tried the newer Safari browser and sure enough the problem went away (except that links embedded in the PDF no longer appeared as blue text - ARGH - but "hover over" with the cursor showed the link and clicking the link in Preview viewer activated the link in a browser window).
    So I post this to the Mozilla community, please fix this 'cause I don't want to have to switch over to Safari browser every time I want to archive a PDF with active links!!!!
    P.S. I did a spot-check and with the newer add-on Enjoy Reading 1.0.1 and FF11.0. When the Enjoy reading formatted version appears in the browser window, all URLs/links are preserved and highlighted in blue, but when I print that browser window as PDF, the links are dead (don't work) even though they appear in blue in the PDF.
    So, what's going on, can the Safari fix be researched and applied to FF?
    Also, on some forums, people are responding, Well, try installing Acrobat reader. Well, I don't want to, Preview reader has worked fine for me for years.

    Thanks jscher2000.
    RE: -- '''Generally speaking, PDF converters that work by intercepting a print job do not have access to the URLs behind links in the page.''' --
    I cannot say I agree. I could email you a PDF clipping or two (generated from Safari on Mac OS, in its native capability with no add-ons) that shows you otherwise. When I used PC platforms I did have to install PDF converters (tried both free and expensive ones) that did what I describe.
    I cannot try the add-on you mention, '''Print Pages to Pdf.''' in Firefox. It shows in my browser and Mac OS platform "Not available for your platform." So I am guessing it was written for the PC version of Firefox.
    The Mac OS has had a native PDF-creation functionality for as many years as I have been using it; I used PC prior to that, Win3.1 through XP and NT. And on my PC, I bought (and at work, my employer bought $$$, I had to justify three levels up to management the ability to create PDFs on my work PC) some Adobe functionality to CREATE pdf's (readin's free and easy, makin' em's costly on the PC).
    I've gone and dug through some of my (Mac) doc and clipping archives, and I find that stuff I created after about Dec 2008 or so seems to eliminate all link functionality. When viewed in the Apple native "Preview" application (sort of Apple's equivalent to Adobe Acrobat reader, ships with the OS): link tags are highlighted/tinted, clicking a link opens a (default) browser and takes you there; hover-over the tag text shows the actual link. (Of course, not all old links are still VALID or point to the desired source.)
    I could, in Safari or FF browser window and with no add-ons or Adobe paid products whatsoever, use the native OS method to create PDF's from any application (word processor, spreadsheet, browser, etc) via the menu File -> Print -> Save as PDF menu and create a PDF that had active hyperlinks. In Apple OS Lion 10.7.3, I still can't when it uses this broken WebKit interface, links are "dead" as a doornail until a fix is distributed in WebKit for a future Lion release. It seems this functionality died at least as far back as Leopard OS 10.6.8, but don't quote me on that. Also, my version of Pages 2009 version 4.1(923) (sorta like Word) STILL creates a PDF document that preserves (1) text hyper-links within the document, and (2) web links (in the PDF) that open the browser. I just made a test document.
    When all you can see in the PDF is the tag text, there is nothing to copy-paste to follow any link. Also, hypertext links are often used by authors to create links to other points in a document: now even *that* is broken in the PDF version of the documents I retrieve from the web and print from FireFox (Broken in Safari 5.1.3 and earlier but fixed in 5.1.4).
    Try this on the PC, in your browser and print a news clipping as PDF, do the links in the PDF work? What products do this, and what don't? I would bet the machine with a full Adobe suite this will work flawlessly. (Why should a PC user have to pay hundreds of $ to create this functionality in what I thought was an open standard (PDF)? But that's talkin' religion, let's not start that.)
    Some folks might say,
    go online and find the original source doc in your browser. Or,
    go and add those links manually using the Preview edit add-link capability (hunh? no thanks) , or
    save each item worth saving as an HTML archive instead of a PDF (argh, creating a whole directory in the process, I might add, including ads). Or,
    who needs PDFs, everything is online.
    Or, buy some Adobe product.
    I think they miss my point. This is a real strange dumbing-down of archival PDF documents, or at least a destruction of the ability to use PDF as an archive that retains its links and references.
    C.F. the guy who has archives of scientific papers, and the old material all cross-references nicely but after date X there are no working links.

  • Can a JPEG be 'saved as' a PDF (or other file type)?

    Can a JPEG file be saved as a PDF file?
    Also, can it be saved in a file format that will allow the image to be inserted into, e.g., a WORD document? (Or can a JPEG itself simply be inserted into a WORD doc 'as is'?)
    Thanks.

    You can reformat a .jpg to PDF.
    No, it doesn't reformat it. The .jpg is simply embedded into the PDF file. As BDAqua noted, if it's a high resolution image, OS X's built in PDF creation module will knock it down to screen resolution.
    For some reason, I was sent a chart (with numbers) as a jpeg file. Converting it to, and then printing it as, a PDF leaves the data in too small a font size.
    What size is the .jpg before you place it into a PDF? Open it in Preview and press Command+I. What is the image size in pixels and image DPI (resolution)?
    Is there any way to enlarge the text (via iPhoto, Preview, or some other Mac utility)?
    72 dpi is low, screen resolution. 300 dpi is standard high, print resolution. So if the original is already a low res file, then there's little to nothing you can do to improve the text on a printed piece.

  • Open a draft report via Code

    How could I open an saved Draft report via API/UI.
    I have draft an report via API/UI and now I would show this report on Desktop/SAP
    I would open it via code
    z.B. application.forms.items("")
    because I get the Docnum of my before safed draft but It wouldn´t shown at the SAP now so I have to open it via code

    Sorry for my first Miss Understandable explanation.
    Ok let me explain the other times.
    I have a parked document, I want this now to open it via code (programming).
    I have this code today:
    programspeach: vb.net
    we assume we have a sales order and press now via code the menu option "Save as a parked document"
    ' to change the sales order in a parked document
    appl.ActivateMenuItem(("5907"))
    ' Information: MY_FormUID = the sales order before
    ' Change DocNum in DocEntry
    oRSTRDocData.DoQuery(("SELECT max(DocEntry) FROM ODRF WHERE DocNum=" & Value))
    appl.Forms.Item(MY_FormUID).Items.Item("txtDraft").Specific.Value = oRSTRDocData.Fields.Item(0).Value
    ' take the DocEntry
    Value = oRSTRDocData.Fields.Item(0).Value
    'open parked Document via DocEntry and let it show
    appl.Forms.Item(MY_FormUID).Items.Item("lnkDraft").Click(SAPbouiCOM.BoCellClickType.ct_Linked)
    ' Close the Sales Order before
    appl.Forms.Item(OLD_FormUID).Close()
    After this there is no Document opened, also not the parked Document
    So yet I have an parked Document but when I open the SBO again there is no Document Opened? When I do this prozedere via SBO there will be at least the parked Document opened.
    What do I wrong?

  • Direct Printing PDF via Acrobat 8.0 under Lion

    Direct printing a PDF via Acrobat 8.0 worked under Snow Leopard but no longer under Lion. I have a relatively old installation of CS3 on my MacBookPro and wanted to print a pages document with 12 x 12 cm size onto an A4 page (with integrated cutting marks) - this is not possible with the integrated PDF printer in Lion an so i decided to use Acrobat 8.0.

    Has anybody an idea how to solve this problem. Of course i posted this error on the Adobe Help forums but since these guys only want to sell the newest Suites if have no hope, that somebody will respond to my question - and i think it is a Lion issue (CUPS problem).
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/921666

    This is right, but since the upgrade to Lion was a relatively big one (with many functionalities that i have be missing before) i think i will not go back just to regain a normal-working direct PDF printing. Nevertheless i think, if the very old CS3 worked until Snow Leopard it would be very easy for an Apple Engineer to figure out, which trick would allow Acrobat to direct print again - i don't think the underlying CUPS has changed very much - also i found a lot of similar error reports on the web (mostly Acrobat related after updates from System ) which were solved via correcting some rights in the library (this didn't do the trick for me ...)
    Best problem solving would be, that Adobe Software gets cheaper - i have installed the newest Aperture, iWork, Office, iLife, Mindmanager, ... - if you are not a student but a hobby worker these software packages are quite affordable ...

    Don't offer rewards for assistance; you'll receive help with or without the offer.  This topic is an FAQ; FTP is no different than any other transfer method.  Search the forum for PDF conversion code.  Also, the function you're using has a 99 page limit for conversion; you may want to view the function parameters and account for that.

  • Saving a review PDF

    Hi all,
    I'm just getting into Extendscript for FM 12 so bear with me.
    I have found the FM_Outputs_CondText file which does everything I need it to do except for I want the file to be saved as a review PDF. I've found the FCodes.KBD_SAVEASPDFREVIEW command and can get it to open the saveas dialog. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to interact with this. Any thoughts on how I can achieve the following process:
    1: Apply conditional text show/hide (included in FM_Outputs_CondText)
    2: Change output file name (depends on how I achieve step 3)
    3: Save as review pdf
    4: Move to next conditional text show/hide (included in FM_Outputs_CondText)
    Any suggestions of what to do or where to look would be amazing.

    Hi Corey,
    I don't have time to give you a detailed explanation, but here is some code to get you going on saving a review PDF.
    #target framemaker
    var doc = app.ActiveDoc;
    savePdf (doc);
    function savePdf (doc) {
        var saveParams, retParams, i = 0, pdfName;
         // Get a property list to return any error messages.
        retProps = new PropVals();
        saveProps = GetSaveDefaultParams();
        i = GetPropIndex (saveProps, Constants.FS_FileType);
        saveProps[i].propVal.ival = Constants.FV_SaveFmtPdf;
        doc.PDFJobOption = "Standard";
        doc.PDFGenerateForReview = 1;
        // Get the save name for the PDF and save it.
        pdfName = doc.Name.replace (/\.fm/i, ".pdf");
        doc.Save (pdfName, saveProps, retProps);

    After saving one invoice through T code vf04, vf04 screen is disappearing and for every invoice, users have to enter again and again. This creates inconvenience to all users and takes a lot of time for invoicing.

    hi,
    the better way to use VF04 is to create a variant that it cummulates all the billing due documents and be executed via a batch job preferably or do it once.
    depending the criteria of the users doing billing, may be different sales areas, document number range etc you can create variants for VF04.

  • Merge Word and PDF to Single PDF via C#

    Hi,
    This sounds like a relatively simple operation and yet I have been unable to find a good code sample that can get this done programattically. I would like to avoid using anything other than the free SDK from Adobe. Basically I just want to take a word document and a PDF document and produce 1 PDF document. Can I do this via the menus in Acrobat - YES, but I need to do it via code in a single step without user interaction. This will be a straightforward client side only app. Can anyone help me here and I apologize in advance is this is too simple.
    Thanks,

    Hi WalterFranco,
    When you convert your files using ExportPDF or Adobe PDF Pack, files are automatically saved to your online account. But, you can log on to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files, select the file that you want to store on your hard disk, and then click the Download link at the top of the file list.
    Please let us know how it goes.

    I need to be able to send it to a PC in order to print it.

    Hard to say what is happening without examining the file.
    If you like click on my blue name and email me both the .pages file and the the .pdf you have made from it.

  • Hyperlinks not saved correctly in PDF and Excel

    Hi,
    I have a few reports with hyperlinks to other reports that contain multiple input parameters, which makes the links very long. ( greater than 400 characters )
    When the reports are saved as excel, I am unable to invoke the child report on clicking the link as the link is not saved entirely ( can see that when i try to edit the hyperlink in excel ).  Therefore the child report opens but prompts for inputs as not all the inputs are passed
    When saved as pdf, the link is not saved correctly and i cannot invoke the child report at all
    Please can you suggest a solution/workaround? Alternately is it possible to disable the hyperlinks when saved as excel/pdf?
    Regards
    Sameer

    Hello,
    I think this is a limitation in Excel where URL syntax has to be 255 characters or less
    In order to prove that it's coming from excel and not BO, try in excel to create a false hyperlink which contains more than 255 characters.
    A workaround might be to modify the cell as text and will not be recognized as a URL. So you should get it entirely.
    Please let me know if it helps you
