Saving the content of JTable into a ascii file?

Suppose I have a JTable with certain cols and rows, is there an easy way to retrieve the table contents and save them into a ascii file on disk?
Thanks for your help.
helen

If colCount or rowCount is quite big, the "for loop" will spend some time to get the table content. Is there other way (not doing "for loops") to get the contents of JTable?
Thanks,
Helen
TableModel model = mytable.getModel()
PrintWriter writer = new
PrintWriter(BufferedWriter(new
FileWriter("test.dat")));
int colCount = col < model.getColumnCount();
int rowCount = model.getRowCount();
for (int row=0; row < rowCount; row++)
for (int col=0; col < colCount; col++)
Object value = model.getValueAt(row, col);
if (value != null)
ll) writer.print(value.toString());
if (col < rowCount - 1) writer.print("\t");
writer.println();
writer.close();What's so difficult with this, that the question pops
up every week ?

    I have the following code and it generates a jpg file but for some reason its not working (i open the jpg file with microsoft paint and i see nothing):
    JPanel panel = new JPanel();
    panel.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
    panel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(700, 500));
    panel.add(webBrowser, BorderLayout.CENTER);  //WebBrowser is a subclass of JPanel

    panel.paint(img.getGraphics());

  • Index document with Oracle Text from an ECM without saving the content

    Hi,
    I have documents in a ECM (Alfresco, UCM and more) and I would like Oracle Text to index the document without saving the content. I want to save space and not have redundant information. I would use Oracle Text to search for document's identification (ID) and fetch the document from the ECM using the ID.
    Is it possible ?
    Do I have to use Secure Enterprise Search ?
    Thanks
    Simon

    I want to save space and not have redundant information.The database space or the disk space (in OS)?
    If it the database space, it is not possible to index/serach without storing the file conetents.
    using , FILE_DATASTORE you can save the file in the disk (OS) and index them.
    When you remove the file, you need to re-index it.
    I donot see any other ways.
    Do I have to use Secure Enterprise Search ?SES also uses Oracle Text as its base. It also uses FILE_DATASTORE. But the re-indexing part is automated using crawlers.

    Hi,
    I want to copy the contents of Jtable(contents having Line breaks(\n)) and pasting to Excel.
    While pasting the contents to Excel, a box is appearing in the excel.
    To remove the empty square box, i tried the sample code:
    originalstr =(String)"\""+ mProcessQuestionTestItemTable.getValueAt(rowsselected, colsselected[j])+"\"";
    originalstr=originalstr.replace("\r\n", "\n").replace("\n", "\r\n");
    strngBuffere.append(S);
    There will be no box,If i copy the contents of Jtable and pasting in notepad.
    the box is appearing in Excel only.
    can you suggest something to solve this..

    how can I saved the ipad isms conversation in a iMac file to be able of deleting them from the ipad?

    Hi Aurea,
    One way of saving your sms conversations so that you can then delete them from your iPad would be to back up the contents of your iPad using either iTunes or iCloud. See these articles -

    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    It's really more of an HTML issue with the form itself than a Content Server issue.

  • How can I change the content of JTable?

    Dear friends.
    I have an JTable. I create tablemodel for it and fill out it by data.
    In application at the run time I always need to change the content of whole table. For example I have a frame with JTree and JTable. When I click on the tree node I need to retrieve the data about this node in the JTable.
    Advice me please how can I do that and give an example please.
    Thank you.

    SOL I:
    There solution can be simple if u've written a model for it.
    If u are updating the data of the table by the setValueAt() method of the tableModel, in ur calling(mutating code), then just append a sinle line at the end of the method. U just need to fire a data change event corresponding to the event that has happened.
    void setValueAt(Object aValue, int rowIndex, int columnIndex) {
    - - - - - - - ur code
    //then last line can be
    fireTableDataChanged() ;
    OR
    fireTableCellUpdated(int row, int column);
    OR
    fireTableStructureChanged() ;
    depending uopn what has happened.
    SOL II:
    U may also try calling the method fireTableDataChanged(); from the place where the table data is getting mutated.
    like:
    ((AbstractTableModel) table.getModel()).fireTableDataChanged();

  • Deleting condition formats but saving the contents

    Hello all,
    I hope someone from Adobe is monitoring this list, as there is lots of stuff that requires either more work on the ExtendScript coding or on the documentation.
    I have almost finalized my conversion from unstructured FrameMaker documents with lots of conditional texts to structured FrameMaker, in which attributes take over the role of the conditions. I now want to delete the condition formats but keep the contents. This is possible via the menu: when I delete a condition format, I get a dialog that allows me to keep the content as unconditional text instead of throwing it out. Guess what ? The Delete() method for a CondFmt object does not take any arguments, and the default method is throwing out the content.
    I can do a TextSelection on everything in the document and apply unconditional formatting to it, but that does not include the text in tables. And it is a hassle, as there should really be a way to tell the Delete() method for CondFmt what to do with the content. The options in the dialog should be available via ExtendScript somehow.
    Thanks in advance for a quick reply. My deadline is approaching quickly !
    Jang

    This problem has been driving me crazy for weeks, and I'm pleased to finally declare victory.
    The main snarl I ran into was the propVal.osval, which uses an (undocumented) array data type named Objects to hold the CondFmt objects, and it has no constructor, so it's not easy to reset. You can reset the isval all day long without effect, and building your TextPropVal from scratch has a nasty habit of crashing Frame. It's late here, so please excuse the uncommented code, but the following will make all text in your main flow unconditional, allowing you to delete your CondFmts without deleting the text.
    var findProps, foundRange, foundCond;
    var doc = app.ActiveDoc;
    var firstPgf = doc.MainFlowInDoc.FirstTextFrameInFlow.FirstPgf;
    var docStart = new TextLoc(firstPgf,0);
    var currCondFmt = doc.FirstCondFmtInDoc;
    var findProps = AllocatePropVals(1);
              findProps[0].propIdent.num = Constants.FS_FindCondTextInCondTags;
              findProps[0].propVal.valType = Constants.FT_Strings;
              findProps[0].propVal.ssval[0]= currCondFmt.Name;
    while (currCondFmt.ObjectValid()){
              foundRange = doc.Find (docStart, findProps);
                        while (foundRange.beg.obj.ObjectValid())
                        foundCond = doc.GetTextPropVal (foundRange.beg, Constants.FP_InCond);
                        foundCond.propVal.isval = new Ints();
                        while(foundCond.propVal.osval.length>0)
                                            foundCond.propVal.osval.pop();
                        doc.SetTextPropVal (foundRange, foundCond);
                        foundRange = doc.Find (docStart, findProps);
              currCondFmt = currCondFmt.NextCondFmtInDoc;
              findProps[0].propVal.ssval[0]= currCondFmt.Name;

    any help would be greatly appreciated.you need to add the TableModelListener to your table model.
    for example:
    model.addTableModelListener(new TableModelListener() {
                public void tableChanged(TableModelEvent e) {
                    // TODO Auto-generated method stub
             });then, you need to put your custom business logic(saving data to a text file, etc) into the tableChanged method.
    From TableModelEvent you can get all information about the model changes.

    $fileID = @fopen('/path/to/your/file', 'rb');
    @fputs($fileID, $contents);  // $contents can be
    literally anything, even anobject!
    @fclose($fileID);
    The thing here is - what is in $contents? I personally don't have a clue how to manually create the contents for a .bmp file for instance - I don't know what should go where in order for a .bmp reader to be able to recognize the file as a "real" bitmap (.bmp) file. I can, however, just put anything I want - anything at all into a file, write it out, calling it a .bmp file. Will it be a .bmp file? No, of course not. So, what is in $contents?

  • How-to list the contents of a Data Pump Export file?

    How can I list the contents of a 10gR2 Data Pump Export file? I'm looking at the Syntax Diagram for Data Pump Import and can't see a list-only option.
    Regards,
    Al Malin

    use the parameter SQLFILE in the impdp which writes all the sql ddl's to the specified file.
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/dp_import.htm
    SQLFILE
    Default: none
    Purpose
    Specifies a file into which all of the SQL DDL that Import would have executed, based on other parameters, is written.
    Syntax and Description
    SQLFILE=[directory_object:]file_name
    The file_name specifies where the import job will write the DDL that would be executed during the job. The SQL is not actually executed, and the target system remains unchanged. The file is written to the directory object specified in the DIRECTORY parameter, unless another directory_object is explicitly specified here. Any existing file that has a name matching the one specified with this parameter is overwritten.
    Note that passwords are not included in the SQL file. For example, if a CONNECT statement is part of the DDL that was executed, it will be replaced by a comment with only the schema name shown. In the following example, the dashes indicate that a comment follows, and the hr schema name is shown, but not the password.
    -- CONNECT hr
    Therefore, before you can execute the SQL file, you must edit it by removing the dashes indicating a comment and adding the password for the hr schema (in this case, the password is also hr), as follows:
    CONNECT hr/hr
    For Streams and other Oracle database options, anonymous PL/SQL blocks may appear within the SQLFILE output. They should not be executed directly.
    Example
    The following is an example of using the SQLFILE parameter. You can create the expfull.dmp dump file used in this example by running the example provided for the Export FULL parameter. See FULL.
    impdp hr/hr DIRECTORY=dpump_dir1 DUMPFILE=expfull.dmpSQLFILE=dpump_dir2:expfull.sql
    A SQL file named expfull.sql is written to dpump_dir2.

  • Write data into an ascii file

    Hi
    The programme below is a dual channel frequency analyser simulation which store the frequency, real, imaginary data into an ascii.asc file in a folder in the PC. For each teration of the loop a pop up comes requesting to replace the file with new data. I require to save the data of the iteration when the averages are completed of the Frequency Response Function (say the data after the 100 avarage). How can I link the append to file signal of the Write to spread sheet vi of the programme with the averages completed signal of the FRF vi of the programme. By doing this I will have the data after the specified average being done on the input signal.
    Can some one help me on this.
    Thanks
    Mal

    Hello malkoba,
    it's better than before, but not as good as taking the file write out of the loop. I cleaned up your vi a little bit...
    At the moment you append to the file as long as the calculation runs. If the max number of averages is reached you want to replace your text file and will get a dialog window. Do you want to annoy the user with some unwanted dialogs? ("Replace a file? Why should I replace? I told you to write to that file!" and so on :-)

  • How to extract the content of a user uploaded txt file in web dynpro?

    Hi,
    I'm working on a java web dynpro component. This component consists of document upload field, where users should be able to upload .txt documents. These uploaded text documents should then be somehow read, and thir content displayed. I am already able to upload documents using the upload field, and store it in the context, but I'm still not able to extract the content of these text documents for displaying.
    Does anyone have any suggestions of how I could do this?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi Alain,
        You can do through this document on how to upload/download files in Webdynpro.
    [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/202a850a-58e0-2910-eeb3-bfc3e081257f]
    Once you have the uploaded file in your context if you are storing it as a byte array then convert it to a string using the String constructor String(byte[] bytes)  and then you can store this string in an attribute of type String which could be bound to a UI element (TextArea) to display the contents.
    If you are using an IWDResource then you will get an inputstream from which you can read the data and convert it to a string for display as mentioned above.
    Hope this helps.

  • UTL_FILE: How do you use the ^ as a delimiter from an ASCII file?

    We currently have UTL_FILE pulling in a comma delimited file,
    with this code: With the V_COMMA's declared and other variables
    declared listed below. It works. When we change the ASCII file
    to ^ delimited, the program fails. How do we get the ^ to work
    with UTL_FILE?
    BEGIN
    UTL_FILE.GET_LINE(V_FILEHANDLE, V_NEWLINE);
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN

    END;

    V_COMMA_2 := INSTR(V_NEWLINE, ',', 1, 2);
    V_COMMA_3 := INSTR(V_NEWLINE, ',', 1, 3);
    V_COMMA_4 := INSTR(V_NEWLINE, ',', 1, 4);
    V_COMMA_5 := INSTR(V_NEWLINE, ',', 1, 5);
    V_COMMA_6 := INSTR(V_NEWLINE, ',', 1, 6);
    V_ITEM_NUMBER := SUBSTR(V_NEWLINE, 1, V_COMMA_1 - 1);
    V_AVAILABLE := SUBSTR(V_NEWLINE, V_COMMA_1 + 1, V_COMMA_2 -
    V_COMMA_1-1);
    V_ETA_CHAR := SUBSTR(V_NEWLINE, V_COMMA_2 + 1,
    V_COMMA_3 - V_COMMA_2-1);
    V_RETAIL_PRICE := SUBSTR(V_NEWLINE, V_COMMA_3 + 1,
    V_COMMA_4 - V_COMMA_3-1);
    V_DROP_SHIP_FILE := SUBSTR(V_NEWLINE, V_COMMA_4 + 1,
    V_COMMA_5 - V_COMMA_4-1);
    V_COMPANY_FILE := SUBSTR(V_NEWLINE, V_COMMA_5 + 1);

    Thanks for your response!
    I have simplified the sheet so it contains no split or merged cells, yet still I get the exclamation mark where I want the average. (The exclamation mark says 'Numbers can't be divided by zero'.)
