Write data into an ascii file

Hi
The programme below is a dual channel frequency analyser simulation which store the frequency, real, imaginary data into an ascii.asc file in a folder in the PC. For each teration of the loop a pop up comes requesting to replace the file with new data. I require to save the data of the iteration when the averages are completed of the Frequency Response Function (say the data after the 100 avarage). How can I link the append to file signal of the Write to spread sheet vi of the programme with the averages completed signal of the FRF vi of the programme. By doing this I will have the data after the specified average being done on the input signal.
Can some one help me on this.
Thanks
Mal

Hello malkoba,
it's better than before, but not as good as taking the file write out of the loop. I cleaned up your vi a little bit...
At the moment you append to the file as long as the calculation runs. If the max number of averages is reached you want to replace your text file and will get a dialog window. Do you want to annoy the user with some unwanted dialogs? ("Replace a file? Why should I replace? I told you to write to that file!" and so on :-)

    Hi,
    AFAIK, all the background process are eligible for writing information to alert log file. As the file name indicates to show the alerts, so background process have the access rights in terms of packages (dbms), to write to alert log.

  • Write arrays into a text file in different columns at different times

    Hi,
              I have a problem write data into a text file. I want to write 4 1D arrays into a text file. The problem is that I need to write it at different time and in different column (in other word, not only append the arrays).
    Do you have an idea to solve my problem?
    Thank you

    A file is long a linear string of data (text). In order ro insert columns, you need to rewrite the entire file, because colums are interlaced over the entire lenght of the file.
    So:
    read file into 2D array
    insert columns using array operations
    write resulting 2D array to file again.
    (Only if your colums are guaranteed to be fixed width AND you know the final number of colums, you could write the missing columns as spaces and then overwrite later. Still, it will be painful and inefficient, because column data are not adjacent in the file.)

  • Read Write Data into a MS Word document

    The requirement I am fullfilling directly specifies the need to write data into a Microsoft Word Document and if Necessary, Read Back data from a Microsoft Word Document. The data will be simple text but as time goes on I anticipate the systems engineers may expand the requirement. I want to cross one bridge at a time so I am just concentrating on the text issue. I must do it from within a stand-alone application. Not through a server, not through ASP, not through a browser, just a stand alone application. It appears from my own investigation of the JAVA API that this is not possible. Regrettably, I am only a day or so away from switching to C# or VB to get this job done. My first question is
    1. Can Java Do this?
    2. If not, does Sun Microsystems have any plans to add this capabiliy?
    3. Can we make recommendations to Sun to add this capability to JAVA?

    1. Can Java Do this?Java can do anything but there is no built-in ability to do just that.
    2. If not, does Sun Microsystems have any plans to add
    this capabiliy?
    3. Can we make recommendations to Sun to add this
    capability to JAVA?Very doubtful! MS Office document formats are not completely open to the public - and they are weird! Supporting this capability would probably require an agreement with Microsoft and it would mean you had to change the API for every time Microsoft chooses to change the document formats.
    But there are some open source tools that claim to be rather good at reading and writing MS Office files. Take a look at this one:

  • Data import from ASCII file : javasript to determine correct account

    Hi,
    I am importing data from an ASCII file and need to use a conversion file with javascript to determine the correct account depending on the amount I am importing.
    As an example:
    If external account B4711 carries an amount of 1000 it needs to be imported into internal account A890, if it carries an amount of -1000 it needs to be imported into internal account B890.
    I have the VB script to do this in the MS version but am struggling with the javascript for the NW version.
    In the transformation file, the account is the amount from the load file, the string | and the account from the load file. In my example I would get either 1000|B4711 or -1000|B4711. This part works fine.
    The conversion file looks like this:
    external                  internal                                                                     formula
    *|B4711                 *IF(js:%external%.substring(0,1)=- then B890; A890)
    The idea is, that if the first character is the minus sign, the conversion will return account B890, if it is any other character the conversionwill return A890. The actual result is that all data is imported into the account A890 irrespective of the amount (both positive and negative amounts).
    Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks,
    Arnold

    Hi Arnold,
    Oh no! I thought this was going in the Formula column. I don't know how I got that idea.
    So, I reviewed the documentation ([http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc75_nw/helpdata/en/81/94a8a5febd40268d5c59b4fc31be37/frameset.htm]) and you are correct that you should be able to use JS with the *IF statement - I was incorrect about that, at least according to the docs. In your original JS you probably just needed to use == instead of = and then put the minus sign in double-quotes
    They also give an example of how to do it without JS, which I guess would look like
    *If(%external%=-* then 242000; 128000)
    So, that might work as well, though I'm not sure about how it's going to handle that minus sign.

  • How continuously write data to a txt file

    hello,
    first of all, sorry for bad English, but I have a problem to continuously write data to the txt file.... I have one 2D array with values of some function and based on 2 sliders (values of the sliders) i want to interpolate value using bilinear method... and after that value of the sliders, interpolated value, and value of the nearest points i wish to write to txt file ... for every 2-3 seconds perhaps it would be ideal to be formated as ::
    x   y   f     f1   f2   f3   f4
    but... first i have problem with writing data, because every time it deletes old data and just write new one and it's not horizontal... I'm very very new at this (it is obvious) and any help will be very appreciative
    thanks

    Hi there,
    May I suggest you start with the LabVIEW tutorial?  Or perhaps this one?
    I say that because 1) you said you're new at this, and these tutorials are great for getting started; and 2) you don't seem to understand the concept of dataflow.
    A structure, such as a loop or subVI or function, cannot start executing until it has all of its inputs available.  Therefore, the loop which contains your file write (bottom loop) cannot execute until your top loop is done executing, because it depends on inputs from your top loop and those inputs aren't available until the top loop is finished.  Thus, your file will contain only the data from your final top loop execution.  You might be thinking that your loops are executing in parallel.  They are not.  Your file loop is executing after your data loop has finished...that is to say, your file loop executes exactly once, after you press your stop button.
    You can do two things here to fix that:
    1.  You can move your file write into the top (data) loop. (probably easier for now)
    2.  You can use a queue to transfer the data from your top (data) loop into your bottom (file write) loop. (more complex, but a better idea in the long run)
    One other thing.  Move the "open file" function outside the loop.  Opening and closing the file in each loop iteration will cause problems.  Open the file once.  Write to it in each loop iteration.  Close it when you're done.  Like this:
    Note that this is not complete code...you need to provide the data to write.  This is just to show you how to set up a continuous file write.
    Ok, start with the tutorials and we'll go from there.

  • Write data to multiple text files after specific size

    Hello,
    I wrote a code that contineously writes data to  a text file. The problem is I am running this VI for long time and therefore this text file is being bigger in size e.g. more than 10MB. I want to split writing data in this text file after max 1MB size. Can anyone help ????
    thanks in advance.

    CMW.. wrote:
    You could use the "File/Directory Info Function" in the Advanced File VIs and Function palette to check the size. If the file is too big. close it and create a new one.
    I would use the Get File Position since this won't cause Windows to have to do so much.  Assuming you are just writing and not setting the file position manually, this will return the size of the file in bytes (file position will always be at the end of the file).

    Hello
    You may try the following AppleScript script. It will ask you to choose a root folder where to start searching for *.map files and then create a CSV file named "out.csv" on desktop which you may import to Excel.
    set f to (choose folder with prompt "Choose the root folder to start searching")'s POSIX path
    if f ends with "/" then set f to f's text 1 thru -2
    do shell script "/usr/bin/perl -CSDA -w <<'EOF' - " & f's quoted form & " > ~/Desktop/out.csv
    use strict;
    use open IN => ':crlf';
    chdir $ARGV[0] or die qq($!);
    local $/ = qq(\\0);
    my @ff = map {chomp; $_} qx(find . -type f -iname '*.map' -print0);

    #     - field separator is comma
