Saving to png changes to 72 ppi

I have the orignal PSE, and can not seem to save my 300 ppi, as 300 ppi. I understand it still saves at a printable quality, but the site I am working for needs it to say 300 ppi. Is there anyway to do this in PSE?

HSL images can only be saved in the AIPD format. Please see the IMAQ Vision Concepts Manual or the LabVIEW help page for IMAQ Write File for more details. To save the image to another file format, you could convert it to RGB and then convert back to HSL when you are going to use the image later.

  • Script for saving/replacing .png´s

    For Photoshop CS5:
    Hi,
I need a script, which allows me to take the .png file i am working on, and save and replace it in the existing location with the exact same name:
Without creating the "copy.png" string and preferebly without have to choose "Interlaced" or "None".
That would be a huge time saver!

What kind of png – png8 or png24?
Save for Web or Save as?
I suppose one might be able to get that information from the file, but it would be easier if one could omit that and just assume one kind of saving process for all files.
And if you do Layers stuff that can not be saved as png you would nonetheless be asked whether to save the layered file on closing, I guess.

  • PNG changing colors using save for web (CS2)

Im having a problem with making PNG pictures when using the "save for web" function (this also happens in Image ready)
I make an image in sRGB color space and chose "save for web" and set the settings, all looks fine and i save it as png8 or png24.
Then when i view it in a browser the colors af "off" (desaturated) ??
But if i chose "Save as" in Photoshop, and chose png, and save it that way, the color macth up and looks allright.
What im a doing wrong ??
I have made a test with to sets of colors / picture one with "websave" color and one without then save them "using save for web" in gif, jpg with profile, png8 and png24
The gif and jpg goes well but the png's colors goes "off"
I also saved the to files using "save as" and here the png's colors looks fine
(Ther are also some screendums of my color setting, "save for web" setting and my screen profile if that can be of anny help
    http://home19.inet.tele.dk/jgom/pngtest/
Also! can anybody tell me this ?
When using "save as" i cant chose what png im saving as ? (8 or 24) What type of png dos PS use when you save it like that ???

Now I've read up on it, it seems the issue is indeed gamma.
(I really appreciate the "that's impossible, you must be doing something wrong" comments, by the way. Not "hmm, I don't know," but actually "what you've described in detail isn't happening; you're imagining things." Super helpful.)
Anyway the real question is: is there a way to stop Photoshop from including gamma data? It's apparently an optional portion of the PNG spec.
The whole gamma thing is unfortunate, but the *really* unfortunate bit is that Photoshop includes this information at all, particularly in a Save for Web context.
Most importantly, it seems this has been an issue for some time (Google "PNG Photoshop gamma"), and PNG is usually used for web, so why on Earth hasn't Adobe addressed this? Let's not forget that Photoshop is the industry-leading tool, and the Extended version costs $1000 by itself. The only options I've seen for saving as PNG in PS so far is sRGB conversion, bit depth, transparency, and interlacing. This whole gamma thing seems pretty unacceptable behavior, even by default.
I'm looking into pngcrush; does anyone have a simpler solution to strip the gamma information? Of course, if there's a way to do this in Photoshop itself, please please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • When placing a png in indesign the png changes/loses its orginal color.

When placing a png in indesign the png changes/loses its original color. Ex. the very clear blue that I am using turns dark and "dirty". ( my RGB is : 5,125, 255  -  when I type this I get a " out of gamut warning" a little yellow icon. When I click on it indesign automatically changes the RGB into: 67, 117, 187)
I have worked with indesign for 6 years and never experienced this before. I am guessing it has something to due with that the png is in RGB and indesign in cmyk, but I have no idea what to do about it?

Out of Gamut means the color cannot be printed in your current workspaces using CMYK inks. You would see a preview of the converted color if you move into Overprint Preview, use Proof Colors, or there is transparency and the blend space is set to CMYK.
If this is destined for screen use, then the color doesn't matter, but you should be sure the blend space is set to RGB.

  • Saving a .PNG in Photoshop CS6

by the way in PS how do we save something as a .png file these days? it is not listed in the save as options anymore?
    Kind Regards
    David Fellows

    David,
Check your Save As... dialog box again. You should have an option for PNG in the file type drop-down menu.
Additionally, you can choose File > Save for Web and you will have an option for saving a PNG!
I hope this helps you out!

  • Linksys E1200 Router not saving Port Forwarding changes

    Hi!
I am currently attempting to port forward on my Linksys E1200 Router and am not succeeding in saving my settings. I am attempting to open port 25565 though both Single Port Forwarding and Port Range Forwarding, and whenever I click the "save settings" button, I receive a full window message stating that my changes have been saved. Upon clicking this, I return to the previous screen whereupon my changes have been erased and my port has not been forwarded. Can anyone assist me with this? I've searched for hours through forums and tech help websites, but I can't find anyone else with this issue.

  • Pshop CC -- saving JPG & PNG file size bloat

Saving JPGs & PNGs from Photoshop CC is creating what I can only describe as a obscene file bloat.  Just recently, what should have been a 7k jpg saved as a 1.1 mb jpg file.  PNGs which should average roughly 100-150k are coming out at 1.3mb.  If I use the "Save for Web", sometimes it gives me the proper sized images.
I have noticed this on 2 computers --- one a mac & one windows with completely different file sets.  So it is not an issue of my OS, the original files or anything specific to one particular common item.
FYI -- Doing the same thing with pshop cs6, I get the proper file sizes.
I have included a sample image here.  This image is a straight out "save" from pshop CC  -- it is 1.1mb.  However, when I saved the same image as a JPG in pshop cs6, it was 7k.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Haven't had a PNG or JPG go wacky here in that way so far...
I think the issue is revealed by looking in File - File Info in the Raw Data section.  I don't know why, but there are a huge number of <rdf:li> XML elements showing up there with hex values in them.  I don't know what that means, exactly, but I believe the accumulation of that metadata explains the size increase.
Do any of the terms you see in the raw metadata mean anything to you?  Do you have 3rd party plug-ins that could be responsible for this?

  • Logic crashing when saving buffer size change?

Logic is crashing when saving buffer size change. Is it that my Autotune Evo plug-in window is open? I've noticed some correlation but it could have nothing to do with it.

Tried this alright & seems to have fixed the problem so I am so grateful. Many thanks Pancenter!! What did you actually instruct me to do?
One of the things I previously tried was to re-install logic 9 again but strangely after I trashed it and emptied it was still present in Apps. How come this was the case... just curious??
    Thanks for everything

  • Illustrator Showing Correct Colors, When Exported or Saved as PNG Certain Colors Change

Exactly, so if you change your colour mode to RGB (File > Document Color Mode), your colours in Illustrator will change slightly but when you export to PNG there should be no colour change.

  • When I save a PNG file at 300 ppi, it opens at 299.999

This is driving me nuts. When I save a photoshop file as a .png at 300 ppi, when I open it it is 299.999 ppi.
I wouldn't mind for my personal use, but these are digital files I sell. Believe me, I will get emails about it.
Even when I open the .png file and change the ppi to 300, if I open it again it's once again 299.999!
I am saving files with a transparent background with compression no interlacing. I'm using save as, not save for web.
    Here's the interesting thing.
    1. This started happening when I got my new iMac with Lion and installed CS6. Did both at the same time.
    2. My assistant, this happens with my assistant who is on PC with Photoshop CS5.
What's going on and how can I fix this?

    I did find this article.
"Most other programs do store and use the correct scaled resolution value in PNG files. PNG stores resolution internally as pixels per meter, so when calculating back to pixels per inch, some programs may show excessive decimal digits, perhaps 299.999 ppi instead of 300 ppi (no big deal)."
I don't know why this has started happening in CS6 though. Didn't happen in CS5. Hmm. Actually, I do have CS5 installed. Maybe I should try doing my pngs in it again.
Just searched around the web. I guess this is a common occurance. I'll just have to put it in my support FAQS that this is normal and doesn't affect the image.

  • Saving Fireworks PNG as PSD

I have a Fireworks png file that i am trying to save out as a
psd. I can do so, but when I open in Photoshop, the layer groups I
created in my Fireworks png file are not preserved. The layers stay
put, but photoshop ignores the layer folder (or groups) and puts
them all in one big bucket. Is there a way to preserve the layer
groups during my saving to psd process?
Also, I have text in my png file that uses -4 letterspacing.
When I save as PSD, and open in Photoshop, the letterspacing
changes to -40. Anyway to get around this? I need to text to remain
    editable is photoshop also.

I've written three different tutorials for CMX that deal with
    converting
complex PNG files to PSD files. Fireworks has both LAYERS and
    OBJECTS,
while Photoshop is really just layer-based. With the current
    version of
FW there is no way that I know of to preserve this hierarchy
    when you go
from PNG to PSD, but you can recreate the same set up
    manually once the
file has been saved as a PSD and opened in Photoshop.
    Here's how I tackled it:
1 Start by making sure that all objects are ungrouped (to
    avoid any
object flattening in the Save as PSD process) and
    individually named,
because FW will use these names for the layers it creates
    when the PSD
    file is made.
2 Save the file as a psd file.
3 Launch Photoshop and open the newly created PSD file. Keep
    the
original PNG file open in Fireworks
Create and Fill Your Layer Groups
4 Refer to the original Fireworks PNG file and create a
    series of empty
Layer groups that will mimic the Layer/object hierarchy of
    the PNG file.
5 Name each group as seen in the PNG file. The easiest way to
    create
empty Layer Groups without nesting them within each other is
    to press
the Create New Group icon at the bottom of the Layers
    Palette. This icon
looks like a file folder. To save time, you can double-click
    on the
layer names in Fireworks, copy the name and then double-click
    on the
Layer group name in Photoshop and paste the text.
6 Once the groups are named expand the layers in the PNG so
    you can see
the objects within each layer. Find the matching layers in
    the Photoshop
file, select them and begin dragging them into the
    appropriate groups.
If you leave any objects/layers invisible in Fireworks when
    you save as
a PSD, they are still exported and will still remain hidden
    when you
    open the file in Photoshop.
For more detail (and pictures) you can check out this article
    on CMX.
It's based on converting one of our JumpStarts to a PSD file,
    but the
workflow is applicable to any FW PNG file.

  • Color Profile issues / Colors darken when saving as png/jpg

    Hello Adobe Community!
I got a problem with the color settings / profiles in Photoshop and I hope someone can help me.
For the record: I Am working an a PC (Windows 7) with Photoshop CS4.
I work on a digital painting in Photoshop and to keep track of my progression I save frequently as pngs.
I noticed that the colors don't match and are much darker as you can see in the picture below:
I tried the things suggested in many forums, checking and converting my color profiles. For many that seemed to fix it, but not for me.
In the source space you can see the Profile I am using.
Many suggested when saving for web and devices one should untick the "convert to sRGB" checkbox, but for me, that didn't change anything and the colors were still messed up.
I hope someone has a solution for this problem. After trying so many things I'm getting quite desperate!

always CONVERT to sRGB (if not already there) when saving for the web and unmanages apps
there are both pros and cons for tagging/untagging images for the web
the slight darkening and saturation difference i see in in your posted image is expected between managed and unmanaged apps, but you didn't embed a profile so it is my guess what you are seeing there
to duplicate the phenomenon, in Photoshop, open your tagged sRGB image, then
View> Proof Setup: Monitor RGB (be sure to turn it back off)
the shift you see there is the difference between sRGB and your monitor profile (Photoshop is in essence stripping the sRGB profile and sending the RGB numbers straight through to the monitor with no changes)
as you probably know, Photoshop normally transforms (changes) the source colors to the monitor profile...
