Is tdpo working fine here, just trying to understand the sbttest output.....how to interpret this?

Hi,
It does not look OK.
You should see something like.
$ sbttest test.out -trace sbttest.trace
The sbt function pointers are loaded from libobk.so library.

sbtinit: Media manager supports SBT API version 2.0

sbtinit: maximum concurrent proxy copy files is 0
-- sbtinit2 succeeded
-- regular_backup_restore starts
etc...
Is your library installed correctly?

  • Sbtio.log and trace levels

    Hi all,
    we're using Tivoli (TSM) with RMAN and I want to log error messages to USER_DUMP_DEST/sbtio.log . The log is there but always empty, even when there is a trace file stating there should be messages in it.
    RMAN documentation says that sbtio.log must be configured with TSM. This does not seem to be true: I found that you can set a trace via ALLOCATE CHANNEL .... TRACE <integer>. I did NOT find anything in the RMAN documentation on this topic.
    Can anyone enlighten me? What trace levels are there, what do I do to just get the errors dumped to the log? Any hints appreciated.
    Thanks, Susanne

    The 'details' can' tbe set to be more specific.
    MAX_DUMP_FILE_SIZE specifies the maximum size of trace files (excluding the
    alert file). Change this limit if you are concerned that trace files may use too much
    space.
    A numerical value for MAX_DUMP_FILE_SIZE specifies the maximum size in
    operating system blocks.
    A number followed by a K or M suffix specifies the file size in kilobytes or
    megabytes.
    The special value string UNLIMITED means that there is no upper limit on trace
    file size. Thus, dump files can be as large as the operating system permits.

    ERP FORMS TRACE(FRD) LOG FILE 만드는 방법 - R11.5.X
    ==============================================
    PURPOSE
    ERP Forms trace(FRD) log file 만드는 방법 - R11.5.X
    Explanation
    FORM level에서의 Error를 추적하기 위한 방법으로
    FRD log 라는 것이 있습니다.
    해당 log file은 FORM level의 Data입출력을 보여주는 것입니다.
    여기서는 R11.5.X version대에서의 log file만드는 방법에 대해서
    설명하겠습니다.
    1. ERP US(영문) Version일 경우
    http://serverhostname:port/dev60cgi/f60cgi?&config=DBSID&record=collect&log=쓰기가 가능한 Directory/form_trc.txt&lang=US
    처음 ERP접속시 위와 같이 argument를 입력하시면, form_trc.txt file안에 다 기록됩니다.
    그렇기 때문에, file size를 줄이기 위해 가급적 문제 재현까지 바로 이동해주시고, Server상에서 해당 Form trace file을 tail -f 로 확인하시다가 문제현상이 발생하는 시점까지 도달하셨으면, ERP화면에서는 더이상 작업을 하지 말아주시고, Server상의 form_trc.txt file을 확인할 수 있습니다.
    실제 Parameter가 적용된 예제는 아래와 같습니다.
    고객님의 환경에 맞게 Server Host name및 Port등을 변경하셔서 ERP접속시 정확히 입력해주시기 바랍니다.
    예)
    http://ERP.oracle.co.kr:8000/dev60cgi/f60cgi?&config=PROD&record=collect&log=/u01/app/oraERP/temp/form_trc.txt&lang=US
    ===================================================================================================
    2. ERP NLS(한글) Version일 경우
    => 한글 환경에서만 FORM error가 발생하여, 한글 Mode에서 FRD log file을 생성해야하는 경우에
    사용할 수 있는 방법입니다.
    http://{hostname:port}/dev60cgi/f60cgi?config=PROD&record=collect&log=/u01/app/oraERP/temp/form_trc.txt&lang=KO&env=NLS_LANG='korean_korea.{characterset}'
    (characterset은 현재 설정된 것을 확인해주시고 입력해주시기 바랍니다.)
    예를들어, characterset이 KOREAN_KOREA.KO16KSC5601이라면 아래와 같을 수 있겠습니다.
    http://ERP.oracle.co.kr:8000/dev60cgi/f60cgi?&config=PROD&record=collect&log=/u01/app/oraERP/temp/form_trc.txt&lang=KO&env=NLS_LANG='KOREAN_KOREA.KO16KSC5601'
    다른 방법은 US와 동일하고, Parameter중 "lang"과 "env" parameter를 주의해서 입력하면 됩니다.

  • Trace and log -- How do I find documentation

    I was able to create (in the assign section) trace and log structures (by chosing the Logging and Alerting Button in the Netbeans IDE,
    BPEL & Mapper - ....[Assign]):
    <ns4:trace>
    <ns4:log level="Info" traceLocation="OnStart">
    <from><literal>This is a test of the logging OnStart</literal></from>
    </ns4:log>
    </ns4:trace>
    however, it does not validate, so I added
    <ns:extensionAssignOperation>
    <ns4:trace>
    <ns4:log level="Info" traceLocation="OnStart">
    <from><literal>This is a test of the logging OnStart</literal></from>
    </ns4:log>
    </ns4:trace>
    </ns:extensionAssignOperation>
    Where is this documented, and if it works, could someone please send an example? I have tried a couple of different syntax, and
    it does not do anything.
    Thanks in Advance

    What is the status on this? Has anyone got it to work?
    I created a simple BPEL that has 'receive', 'assign', and 'reply' activities. For the 'assign' activity in the BPEL Mapper I assign several values to LOG_onStart, LOG_onComplete, ALERT_onStart, and ALERT_onComplete. Using critical or severe status.
    I've enabled alerts and allow logging to syslog in the glassfish admin console but cannot get output? Is this feature supported?

  • Difference of concept of trace and log

    What's the difference between trace and log? Does trace file include contents of log file? I am confused these two concepts and their relationship. Please advise.
    Thanks.
    James

    Hi
    Basically,Tracing is a complete set of information (messages) which allows you to monitor the performance of an instance of a component and the user activity that occurs in that component. Traces may allow you to determine whether your component or application is working efficiently and as expected, even as your application, component, and environment change.
    While logging is .
    Logging example: Starting an activity in an application component may be instrumented like one information message, as well as, stopping an activity like a second information message opposite to the first, starting an information message.
    Tracing example: A detailed program flow may have a message which represents a path through component methods, describing components in a similar fashion to pseudo-coding (tracing).

    ERP Forms trace(FRD) log file 만드는 방법 - R11.0.X
    Explanation
    FRD log
    <"module=/.../fnd/11.0.28/forms/US/FNDSCSGN userid=applsyspub/pub@PROD fndnam=apps">
    3.
    FNDSCSGN 뒤의 parameter에 record=collect log=/tmp/oracle_frd.log 를 추가하시면 됩니다.
    <"module=/.../fnd/11.0.28/forms/US/FNDSCSGN record=collect log=/tmp/oracle_frd.log userid=applsyspub/pub@PROD fndnam=apps">

  • What's the difference between trace and log in XI?

    Hi all,
    On both J2EE and ABAP, there are both tracing and logging functionalities. Can anyone explain me the difference between trace and logging?
    Regards,
    Hui

    From SAP Notes
    Log file:
    A log file contains generally intelligible information for system administrators. The information is sorted by categories and is used for system monitoring. Problem sources or critical information about the status of the system are logged in this file. If error messages occur, you can determine the software component that has caused the error using the location. If the log message does not provide enough details to eliminate the problem, you can find more detailed information about the error in the trace file.
    The log file is located in the file system under
    "/usr/sap/[SID]/[instance]/j2ee/cluster/server[N]/log/applications.[n].log" for every N server node.
    Access the file with the log viewer service of the J2EE visual administrator or with the standalone log viewer.
    Trace file:
    A trace file contains detailed information for developers. This information can be very cryptic and extensive. It is sorted by location, which means by software packages in the Java environment, for example, "com.sap.aii.af". The trace file is used to analyze runtime errors. By setting a specific trace level for specific locations, you can analyze the behavior of individual code segments on class and method level. The file should be analyzed by SAP developers or experienced administrators.
    The trace file is located in the file system under
    "/usr/sap/[SID]/[instance]/j2ee/cluster/server[N]/log/defaultTrace.[x].trc" for each N server node.
    Access the file with the log viewer service of the J2EE visual administrator or with the standalone log viewer.
    Regards,
    Prateek

  • Unable to view latest default trace in log viewer

    Hello all,
    We have NW 7.0 J2EE production server. We have a CI and two application servers.
    Our SP level is SP18.
    The DB is oracle and the operating system in RHEL 4.
    I have a problem in viewing the default trace files in log viewer using the visual administrator.
    I am able to view the old default trace but unable to view the latest trace data generated.
    I am facing this problem when i try to view the logs of a particular application server.
    Able to view the latest default trace properly for CI and the other application server. Problem lies only with a single application server.
    I have also check the permissions in OS level for the trace files. Everything looks fine.
    Could some one give me a clue on how to solve this issue.
    Regards,
    Chandru

    Hello Joey,
    The trace file isnt too big....
    We have set the file size as 10 MB.
    We have some 15 to 16 default trace files for each of the server process and we have 3 server process in that application server.
    The ForceSingleTraceFile parameter is set as YES in visual admin.
    So the logs will be displayed in visual admin as a single default trace file.
    Hope I had provided the inputs you have asked...
    Regards,
    Chandru

    Where is the log file for me to trace it?
    Best regards

    You'll find the logs in the folder
    D:\Documents and Settings\chen.peter\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23\DefaultDomain\servers\DefaultServer\logs
    The error message suggest that our connection to the db is not correct.

  • TRACE and LOGGING

    Hi!
    I debug lots of information using trace and since a few days
    with the logging framework in flex.
    but what happens to all these messages on my debug command
    line when I am running the application in normal mode? Where are
    the written? Are they hidden? Do the only appear in DEBUG mode and
    never during normal mode?

    Hi Udo -
    Did you apply the APPINT component?   More info in Note 439915.
