SCB-68 Quick Reference Label for PCI 6251

Hello,
I would like to use the PCI 6251 multifunction DAQ card with the SCB-68 connector block. Can I make connections using the "SCB-68 E Series I/O connector pinout (Full)"?
Ram

Hello,
Yes, you can use an SCB-68 with an NI 6251 and wire it according to the E Series full 68 pin pinout. The only differences between the full 68 pin E Series pinout and the 68 pin M Series pinout are:
1) With M Series, PFI0 no longer doubles as both an analog and digital trigger input. It is only a digital trigger input. APFI0, which is pin 20, is a dedicated analog trigger input on M Series. This pin is shared with the AO External reference input on M Series and corresponds to the AO External reference input on an E Series.
2) PFI15 on an M Series corresponds to a ground on an E Series.
The M Series pinout for your device can be found in the M Series Help, located in the following location:

  • SCB-68 Reference Label for M series devices

    What's the difference between the SCB-68 Reference Label M series devices connector 0 and connector 1? I'm installing a NI PCI-6221-M series Multifunction DAQ and the SCB-68 connector block, and I don't know how to make the physical connections. With the SCB-68 kit, I received the Reference Label for the E-series devices. In the NI site, there is info about the connector 0, but what is the connector 0 and connector 1?
    Thanks,
    ZeK

    Good question Zek. The M series family uses a smaller version of the 68-pin connector used on E series so that two connectors can be located on the same board. The second connector is available on certain M seriies boards in order to provide connectivity to additional channels. In the case of the 6221, there is only one connector.
    The 6221 is fully compatible with the SCB-68. The following link provides a revised version of the SCB-68 label adapted for M Series devices:

    Teffy,
    Do you have the disc? If you do, there's a PDF copy of the Quick Reference Guide one the disc. (If you have Windows, Insert disc while holding in your shift key. Hold until you get a dialog box. Select Open Folder to View Files.)
    I'm not sure if it's included in the download version. If it isn't included in the download,input PDF Quick reference guide Photoshop Elements 2 into the Google search bar. I found it on the first search page using that phrase. I didn't hot link it so you'd know the PDF's origin.
    Edit: FWIW, the Editor shortcuts should be exactly the same version to version...if the feature exists in Elements 2--they've added a couple since E2 :). (The same applies to Photoshop shortcuts... providing the function is available in Elements) with one exception...Ctrl J. That shortcut is broken on the Window's version of Photoshop Elements 2.0. File Browser shortcuts would of course differ in versions 5 and 6 as it was replaced by the Organizer in Version 5.
    I would highly recommend checking out Jay Arraich's site if you are a beginner.
    http://www.arraich.com/elements/psE_intro.htm
    He has a large list of E1 shortcuts...all should apply except control J. It wasn't broken on E1. :)

  • How to trigger 5v -ve polarity from pci 6251 to sincronise the image capture

    Hello!
    I want to synchronise the image capture of an IEE 1394 firewire camera with an 50hz input signal (acquired from Vsync of VGA port ). I want to accomplish this using PCI 6251 (SCB 68 E series) device. The IEE 1394 camera can be triggered using a 5V –ve polarity signal but have no idea how it is achieved, some examples about the application would be helpful
    shri

    This example illustrates how an application might be constructed in order to trigger an analog acquisition as well as an external system concurrently with an E-Series board. The analog component has been made retriggerable by tying a counter pulse train to its sample clock. Due to the complexities of the DAQ STC, an analog output line is employed in order to generate a hardware-timed, regular, pulse used to trigger both the analog acquisition, and potentially an external system. This type of architecture could be used for "stimulous - response" testing.

  • Pci-6251 analog input set up

    Hi all,
    Can I set the analog input of PCI-6251 in mix configuration (some in differential mode and some in single ended mode). Because in my set up the differential option is greyed out.
    Thanks
    dphan128
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Yes you should be able to do that. You have 16 analog inputs. For differential you will use two of those per channel. See the DAQ M series user manual. You can program channels on an M Series device to acquire with different ground references.To enable multimode scanning in LabVIEW, use NI-DAQmx Create Virtual Channel.vi of the NI-DAQmx API. You must use a new VI for
    each channel or group of channels configured in a different input mode.
    Remeber that for a differential that you would wire for example AI 0 to the + side and AI 8 to the - side. So now you can't use the AI 8 for single ended. AI 1 is related to AI 9 etc. up to AI 7, AI 16.
    Hope this helps.

  • Data acquisition and frequency generation togather with PCI-6251 and LV8.2

    Hi friends,
    I am a new user of Labview. I am using LB8.2 with PCI-6251 .
    I have to generate frequency and then measure the data and then for next frequency and so on.
    i know that for this i have to use looping and that is not a problem. The real problem for measurement is to identify whether the frequency is been generated. if yes then measurements starts otherwise it should wait until it started. then after finishing the measurements send a signal to generator for changing the frequency and amplitude.
    Now these two things {generation and measurement} togather are not working correctly for me. so i make 2 diff file, one for generation and other for measurements <by modifying the examples>. I can run both file togather and it works. But it need lots off effort and time. I have to measure from 10Hz to 1000Hz in 2Hz frequency step and i cannt leave in between .
    can anyone help me how to syncronize these two togather .
    Trying to attatch. both the files here ..

  • Different labels for a textview based on component usage

    Hi,
    We are on SAP E-Recruiting EHP5 and we have a requirement wherein the label of a textview in a view needs to be dynamicaly controlled. The candidates personal data page (view VW_PERSONALDATA of component HRRCF_C_PERSONL_DATA_UI) gets displayed both:
    1) When the candidate is signing up on the portal to create his profile
    2) On the application page while the candidate is applying against a particular position
    Now case 1 is a straightforward one. I set the label to a OTR and it just works fine. Case 2 is where the problem occurs. When the candidate applies against a particular position the standard SAP roadmap comes up with the view VW_PERSONALDATA of component HRRCF_C_PERSONL_DATA_UI as its 1st step. So now how can I set a different label for the textview in this particular case coz the navigation happens dynamically through prepare_dynamic_navigation( ). Appreciate your inputs on this one.

  • How to generate a pulse of 5 V -ve polarity in synchronisation with a 10 v input using PCI 6251 DAQ board

    HI
    I want to generate a 5V -ve polarity pulse to trigger my IEEE 1394 camera using an PCI 6251 (scb68 pin E) device, furthermore I am reading a standard Vsync signal from a SVGA port which is 10 v.
    Now I want to synchronise the image capture of an IEEE 1394 camera with the Vsync signal so that camera is triggered to capture at every 4th Vsync signal (which is 50HZ.). Presently I am able to read the Vsync signal and also generate the -5 v signal But the Daq board generates a continues -5v signal while I want a 1 ms pulse (for every 4th Vsync).
    Also this 5 v signal is generated even if the vi is stopped running.
    Can anybody guide me so this problem can be solved.
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Shri

    You can use the Write function, that is you can use the 10 volt signal as a trigger for the task, and when you get this trigger, the task starts and generate (writes) a waveform you defined in an array ("data", in the example).
    Something like this..
    DAQmxCreateTask("",&taskHandle);
    DAQmxCreateAOVoltageChan (taskHandle, clokSource, your_sampling_freq, -10.0, 10.0,
    DAQmx_Val_Volts, "");
    DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming (taskHandle, clockSource, SAMPLING_RATE,
    DAQmx_Val_Rising, DAQmx_Val_FiniteSamps,
    samp_to_read);
    DAQmxCfgAnlgEdgeStartTrig (taskHandle, input_channel, DAQmx_Val_RisingSlope, 9.0);
    DAQmxWriteAnalogF64 (taskHandle, 1000, 0, 10.0,
    DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel, data, //data contain a pulse
    &samp_per_channel, 0);
    DAQmxStartTask(taskHandle);
    // and then you create a loop....
    For example you can specify data to be like this:
    data[0] = -5;
    for(i=1;i<1000; i++){
    data[i] = 0;
    Tell me if you need more help.....

  • NI pci 6251 position control

    Hi
    Im new to this forum and new to Labview and NI pci 6251 as well ;(
    I'm using NI-PCI-6251 (DC Motor ) with Labview to control the position of a DC motor  we developed the program that reads the encoder and display the position of the DC motor shaft
    but the problem is that the counter 0 (cnt0) always increases whether the disc rotating clockwise or anticlockwise??!! and when the desired position is reached the controller does nothing to stop the motor ?
    i don't know what is the problem or why its happening.

    Hi,
    I am also doing something similar.
    The problem is the motor is the DC motor from Quanser. (DCMCT).
    I know the encoder channel of the motor is ctr0 and when I test from "Measurement and Automation Explorer" (Labview>>Tools) I can only read the PFI8 channel.
    The motor read 4096 pulses per revolution and no reading is available from PFI10. As per Quanser the motor should be about to do position control. I have seen lab tutorials for position control in internet.
     I tested both the vi is mentioned above. The "Example" vi reads the motor position in terms of pulses. But when I rotate the motor in the other direction the count increment not decrement.
    Also the quadratureencoderMseries vi did not read the angle position when I set the channel values.
    I have attached the parameters that I set.
    Can any one please check..
    Thanks.

  • Closed loop control of DC motor drive using PCI 6251

    Hi
    i am using NI PCI 6251 for closed loop control of dc drive.(shunt motor,220v, 0.5HP, 2.5A rated, 1500RPM)
    the dc motor is fed from a bidirectional dc-dc converter. this converter works in boost mode(forword motoring) and buck mode(braking mode/battery charging)
    the converter is built using mitsubishi IGBT module. at low voltage side of the converter a battery bank of 48V is connected and high voltage side the motor is connected.
    An IR sensor is developed to measure the speed of the motor and a hall current sensor is used to sense the converter current.
    in the control part i have an inner current control loop(PWM controller) and a outer speed control loop.both controllers are PI controller. To measure the speed i have used counter of the DAQ assistant, then frequency. then this frequency is converted to RPM using labview.after giving the speed and current signals  to the controllers , then i started  tunning the PI gain, but at the starting the duty cycles was 100%, so the IGBT got damaged immediately. now how to tune the controllers during the closed loop operation.  the switching frequency of the converter is 20KHz.
    can any body suggest me how to run the dc drive in closed loop ?
    thanking you.

    Hi Premenanda
    The freq data receiverd from the daq assistant has the units of Hz, or in terms of motor speed, rps (rotations per second). I can see that you are trying to convert that to rpm (rotation per minute). which can be done by dividing the rps speed by 60. Instead, you are multiplying it by 60 and also comparing with 2000. the resultant multiplied value is displayed in your program only if it is smaller than 2000.which is causing the problem here.( as seen in file 'original code.png)
    I have attached a file named 'modified code.png' that shows how the conversion from rps to rpm is done. Please do the required changes in your code and let me know if it works.

  • Multiple Labels for One Order

    Can anybody tell me if it is possible to produce multiple labels for one order. For example a customer orders 4 units. A standard package holds 3 units so an additional package is required for the fourth unit. As a result two packing labels are required. Does OM 11i support this?

    Hi Aj
    Thanks for your quick response. I was think on the same lines and you have confirmed that we will have to split the line into several lines on sales order.
    I am trying to do that now in our ECC box i.e item 10 with payer 1 and item 2 with payer 2. But as soon as I try to change the payer on item 2, i get the following error message which relates to credit management being active.
    I am assuming once we decativate CM, we should be good to go. PLease confirm. Also once its time for billing, will SAP automatically split the billing into different invoices per sales order line item based upon number of payers on the line items?
    PLease confirm your thoughts.

  • How do I get the Label for a Front Panel Control to appear in the Block Diagram but not on the Front Panel?

    How do I get the Label for a Front Panel Control to appear in the Block Diagram but not on the Front Panel? On the Front Panel I am making a complex control that consists of a Slider and a Numerical Input box. Both Controls display the same information and either can be used for Input. When one changs, the other is made to display the same value.
     But I only want the Slider to display the Label on the Front Panel, to avoid confusion. On the Block Diagram however, I want both controls to display their Labels so that I know what they are. How do I display the Label for a Control on the Block diagram, but not display its Label on the Front Panel?

    No.  The Label Visible property is separate for the front panel control label and the block diagram terminal label.
    How did you start out with the block diagram's label not being visible?  Whenever I drop a control or indicator, the label is always visible on both the FP and BD by default.  Maybe there is a LabVIEW option that causes new controls/indicators not to have their labels visible by default, but I have yet to find it.  I don't think an item should ever be dropped without the label visible, good LabVIEW coding practice demands that the labels for control terminals on the block diagram be visible so that you know what control or indicator a wire is going to.
    That being said, I have seen a lot of VI's posted where the label for the terminal on the BD is not shown (against good programming practice.)  I've gone to the BD and right clicked to show the label.  Sometimes, the people have an empty label (which will turn off the visibility for both the FP and BD) and I'm forced to add some text of my own into the label so I can figure out what their code is doing.  When I add some text to the label, at that time, I find both the BD and FP labels become visible.
    Are you dealing with controls that have empty labels to start?
    Good programming practices:
    1.  Always have a name for all of your controls, never use and empty label by deleting the text in the label.
    2.  Make the labels unique.  For example, don't have two controls both called Stop.  How do you know quickly know which terminal relates to which control?
    3.  Always show the labels on the block diagram, so you know the function of a control's terminal.  If you want to hide the label on the FP, that's okay.
    4.  If you want a different label to appear on the FP than whatever you actually called the control, then use the caption.  You can hide the label and show the caption.  This is useful if you need to programmatically change what the "label" is on the front panel such if you are making an application that needs to change its user interface such as for a foreign language.

  • External convert samples don't work for PCI-6111

    I'm trying to use an external convert signal for a single channel acquire on a PCI-6111. I'm using VB. The supplied example (DAQSingleBufExtConv_Eseries) doesn't work. I get error # -10003 at the DAQ_Config call. I have tried all sorts of combinations of DAQ_Config and Select_Signal, but have no success.
    Why is this so? I'm using NI-DAQ 6.9.1.

    Dave,
    The Traditional NI-DAQ Function Reference Help for the DAQ_Config function contains the following comment:
    Note: (61XX devices only) The only allowed values for extConv are 0 and 2. The conversions occur simultaneously for all channels and are controlled by the scan interval.
    The Traditional NI-DAQ Function Reference Help is available in the following location:
    Start >> Programs >> National Instruments >> NI-DAQ >> Traditional NI-DAQ Function Reference Help
    So, you will want to assign the extConv parameter a value of 2 and use the Select_Signal function to route the signal accordingly.
    Good luck with your application.
